Albert Kettleburn EraAll historical records pertaining to Ministry of Magic RPG under Minister for Magic, Albert Kettleburn [IC January 2081 - December 2086; OOC June 2013 - January 2015]
On a practice pitch right next to the stadium pitch, the twelve to seventeen year olds are set up in groups based on their position. Children in the chaser group will practice flying formation and throwing the quaffle as they go through an obstacle course that ends at the hoops to try and toss the quaffle in. Keepers will practice blocking and catching quaffles at the hoop that their professional teachers will throw towards them. The beater group will have target practice with bludgers. The targets will be moving so they will have to use their skills to get the hit. Seekers will be finding and chasing snitches that will be randomly let loose by their professional teachers.
Don't have a preference for a position or want to try something new? Feel free to test out another group. Basic flying and skills will also be covered for those with little to no experience. Once this group has had enough practice they will be split into two teams and hold a scrimmage against each other.
If a child does not bring their own broom, there are some basic brooms available for the day supplied by Quality Quidditch Supplies.

Bart walked out on the pitch once he had gotten back. The down fall to your mother being in charge of this event and pregnant, you had wake up way to early in the summer and help set things up. After he got the little kids obstacle courses done and then helped her get the signs up, he finally got to go home and get ready so that he could participate as well. Honestly if she wanted him to just work the camp she should have said something, but he was glad he was going to get some training even if he was already playing for a team. With the coach saying they should go to the camp, he signed up to come.
HAHA, like he had a choice with his mother being Victoria Culloden, Quidditch Manager!
Looking around he realized he made it back in record time and was early, maybe he should go check on his mum and make sure there wasn't anything else to be done. Nah, she'd be fine and he really didn't want to take the effort to walk clear up to the concessions, unless there was free food involved.
Nope he'd just stand here and wait for everyone. Was Alice going to be their Pro teacher? He wouldn't mind that.
Cassius strutted--yes, strutted--into the area with his broom carefully held...this was ....practically his baby. And it looked like he was early, too. Well, good.
The fifteen-year-old wasn't shy. Like, not at all. So when he saw a person his age nearby, he waved cheerfully and decided to introduce himself. He would have to program his brain to speak English--as usual, during the summer. He just got so used to the French while at Beauxbatons.
"Hi--Cassius Dolohov," he held out his hand for the other boy to shake. "I didn't know I'd be THIS early--" he commented....Merlin. He didn't mind, but..you know.
For once, he was't even thinking about the pretty girls that might be here, either. Nope.
QUIDDITCH. ALL QUIDDITCH.
Freddy didn't want to be here. He did NOT want to be here. Merlin. WHY had Iwin thought this was a good idea? THIS WAS UNFAIR. But at least he'd gotten a new broom out of it??? Iwin had JUST bought it like...last week.
So there was that.
And getting here early...was nerve-wracking for the Durmstrang student.
Had he mentioned he was...less than pleased about being here?

Zhenya was READY to fly! The excited, freshly seventeen-year-old approached the group for the 12-17 year olds, her old broom in hand. Having played chaser on the Slytherin team when she first started at Hogwarts, she decided to brush up on her chasing skills, with the ability to change to something different. She didn't fancy being seeker or keeper, too much pressure, but perhaps beater… and perhaps she would be able to brush up on her flying skills.
She had pushed her 9-year-old siblings, Teddy and Ava, off towards the next group down. She had laughed when Teddy reluctantly let go of her hand and followed the bouncing Ava. Poor, Teddy. At least he was here! He had really not wanted to come.

So yeah, Dante was here and had got one of those brooms provided for the day. He could have had his own broom. But decided to get a new bike instead. He would so use it more and he could use his brother when he wanted.
Just don't tell him that.
And why did he have to be with the old kids. He could pass as an eleven year old. Maybe...who was he kidding. Oh well. So here he was leaning against the broom wondering who would be teaching him, instructing him, or whatever the instructors were suppose to do.

After dropping off her little brother at the 9-11 year old group, Esme headed over to the practice pitch where she would be helping out with the older kids. She had spotted Giles with some of the younger kids on her way over and gave him a wave. She had hoped that they'd be working together, but after a moment's thought she realized that it was probably for the best. These kids needed her focus.
Shouldering her broom as she walked, her grey eyes caught sight of the few already assembled - mostly teenage boys and one girl. There would be other players here, right? She wasn't sure she could handle this alone... Though she did know it was still early. "Hey guys!" she greeted them all with a bright smile. "I'm Esme." Best to get to know them a minute before they got started, yeah?

He. Didn't. Want. To be here. You think his mother would have gotten that by now but the fact he was here said otherwise.
When was the last time Dax Sanders had ever thought to mount a broom and get off the ground? Answer: AGES AGO. If he wanted to leave the ground, that was what his skateboard was for or flips and stunts that got you airborne. Quidditch was very...'eh' for him. Ruined sometime during his second year--or was it third? He didn't care and he did take his time in joining the small assembled group, his sister's broom thrown across his shoulders with his arms hanging from it.
In the small group there was maybe two faces he knew, Bart and that one Durmstrang kid he saw around the corridors sometimes and at meals. Looks like he was in time for the lady's greeting.
"Sup?" And a nod of acknowledgement sent in her direction. Could they get this thing over with?

His summer so far had not gone as planned. He'd missed basically all of it so far, including almost half of his internship AND an entire month of U17 training AND games, after... The Cow Incident. It had taken a lot of begging his healer, a fair deal of bargaining, and a lot of promises he hoped he could keep, but Toby was here. It felt good. Now he just had to prove he could handle this, and not get too carried away. STILL, though. EXCITING.
Of course, what with everything, he'd not had the chance to fly yet, but Toby had kept his broom in good condition, well-serviced, tail twigs clipped and handle polished so well he could practically see his face in it, so there was no reason he wouldn't fly well. He'd have LIKED a little more practice, but the circumstances were out of his control.
Oh hey, Bart was here! They were teammates, 'cause U17s, even though Toby had been off sick for a long while. As he passed him Toby gave the Gryffindor a smile and a friendly clap on the shoulder.
"Hey Bart. Figured I'd see you here," he smiled, then moved along to find a space to stand, smiling at the woman person who seemed to have a sort of in-charge aura about her. When he found a place to stand, Toby became instantaneously fixated on his broom and began speculating to himself whether it was up to the appropriate standard for today. He stared intently at it, from the end of the handle to the tip of the tail twigs. Hm. Stare.

Kace was sooo ready for this camp. He thought he might be the oldest one but he saw Toby was here. He nodded towards him and he remembered when they were on the same quidditch team. He held his Firebolt on his shoulder and he wondered if he wanted to try a new position. He actually wanted to, he wanted to try seeker. He wanted to know and experience how hard the position was. I mean he was a chaser for a little bit so he knew what that felt like. As he began to search for familiar faces, he noticed Bart was here too.
He grinned and nodded towards Bart who was Cinna's boyfriend. That is how he knew him. He was glad Cinna was happy with him though. Now onto seeing the professionals now yeah?

Hady had been dropped off earlier by her father and with a quiet 'have fun' and 'be careful' was left on her own. With her broom clasped gently in her right hand she took a look around before making her way out onto the pitch for her age group.
With her gaze traveling over each person for someone she knew she took notice to one small detail...she was tiny. Like everyone towered over her! Normally the young girl didn't care but today she noticed. It was alright though cause how big or little she might be didn't matter in Quidditch it was all about fun for her.
So with a deep breath she tucked a stray hair behind her ear and made her way over to everyone else.
Okay, okay, she wasn't late. In fact, was she early? She seemed to be the only adult here so far... apart from... Derry didn't know her. She made her way towards the older group - wearing her practice robes, her broom cocked over her shoulder - then waved at Esme and gave her a thumbs up, assuming she'd be helping out too... then she cleared her throat.
...
No... that wouldn't do. Nobody was going to hear that.
Should she wait for everyone else? Or introduce herself? She wasn't entirely sure. Hm. She'd brought a whistle, y'know, for purposes of things and stuff.
Okay, introduce yourself. At least the years of having to shout her dad in from the sheep pen had given her the ability to project her voice.
"Hello everyone! My name is Derry Ferrier, I'm seeker with the Montrose Magpies and I'm here to fly with you all today. If you have any questions you can ask me, but we're going to wait until the other leaders arrive before we really start so you can carry on getting to know each other."
Would that do? Yes? Good.

Benny was more then happy to be at the quidditch camp. He had enjoyed playing the game but hadn't since it had stopped being played at Hogwarts due to first the threats and then the damages to the pitch. Sure he had his own broom, purchased in anticipation of the next season that never came that first term, and then only used for flying over the summers. He had even tried showing Angel and AJ the joys of flying last summer.
But this was back to quidditch. Back to the game he missed.
The fifteen year old debated sticking with the beaters since that had been his position, or going off with one of the others. Maybe it would be fun to try his hand at going after a snitch or two. For now he was just taking in the feeling of being here, his hand wrapped around the broomstick as it almost stood beside him.Besides one of the supposed leaders was speaking and talking about waiting for the others to come. Fine by him.
Freddy was...feeling all sorts of shy right now. It was different when he knew everyone--or at school, you know? He could pretend he was chill and calm and SUAVE, as Iwin would say.
He DID recognize one face--DAX. IT WAS DAX. Freddy was almost certain the MUCH COOLER fellow didn't even know his name, but Freddy knew his, and Dax actually DID give a little nod--okay. So. In ONE minute, Freddy felt instantly better. And it wasn't even like he was talking to anyone, either...
And then...a Miss Derry Ferrier showed up. Freddy leaned on his broom--and almost fell over--MELIN--and then straightened up quickly.
Right.
Cassius looked up....almost as soon as the VERY ATTRACTIVE Derry got here.
WOW.
SHE WAS PRETTY.
She was.
Cassius'....mind, which had been preoccupied with Quidditch thus far and NOT girls--well. So sad. He was now reminded of the female species--Merlin. Derry was BEAUTIFUL.
"Getting to know each other? I'd like to get to know you--" he blurted out at her before he could stop himself.
OOPS.
Cassius was not sorry.
Oops. Had anyone seen that? Hopefully not.

The time for the Quidditch camp had arrived, and Jenna was glad to have another reason to get away from the house for awhile. Her uncle apparated her over and fortunately left after wishing her luck. Just in case she ended up being awful at flying and Quidditch, she didn't want her family to know because David and Phillip would never let her live it down.
She was pretty sure she'd be fine. Just a precaution though.
Joining the 12- to 17-year-old group, it seemed it hadn't really started yet, which was good. She knew she wasn't late, but who knew if they'd start early.
What were they supposed to do until then?
One of the leaders - Derry Ferrier - had spoken about getting to know each other, but most people seemed to be quiet right now, so Jenna supposed she'd stand here and observe for now.
Like that guy over there who'd suddenly spoken. She raised an eyebrow slightly but said nothing. Still just watching everything.

This one here was not worried at all about the whole Ministry happenings. Nope. Nope she was choosing to ignore them because- look at all the little kiddies who though they could play Quidditch! or wanted to learn! Which was even better okay? Because the ones who instantly thought they knew everything were the ones who knew nothing.
And that applied to every single thing in life, obviously.
Which was exactly why she told Vincent not to be so sure of himself but, he had Gryffindor blood. Happily making her way to the pitch with the older kids Alexis Chosen couldn't help the hop in her step. Her old Quidditch robes were back on, and her broom in hand and she looking forward to this week. Spotting a familiar face and voice, Alexis instantly gravitated over to the player and slung her arm around her neck. "Derrrrry." Magpies seeker extraordinary. And that was saying something. After give or take 16 years with the Magpies she had seen her fair share of seekers.
Anyways, the woman was smart to let the kids chat up for a bit.
Broom in hand, Kyroh glanced around, taking everything in the moment he stepped onto the pitch. This was SO COOL! Even if it WAS only a practice pitch! He felt like a real Quidditch player or something! It wasn't like he was just playing in someones backyard but actually on the pitch.
He never had a reason for stepping onto the one at school so THIS? This was insane!!! Maybe he WOULD become a professional Quidditch star and then Dot could be his cheerleader and - OHOHOHOH TOBY!!!!!!
Taking a deep breath the fourteen year old SPRINTED across the pitch. HIS TOBY WAS HERE! Sure he looked a bit shorter than he had, when he had seen him at the feast but it was still TOBY. HIS. Almost colliding with the other boy Kyroh beamed and pulled him into a hug. "HI! I DIDN'T KNOW YOU'D BE HERE!"

Bart was standing even thinking maybe he’d duck out and get a snack before it started when someone come strolling in. He glanced at the guys hand and then back up, “Sup” was he really expecting him to shake it. Finally shaking it he quickly just grabbed his broom. He wasn’t dealing with shaking hands all day. They were there to play, not socialize. “Bart Maroon.” He nodded in response with the names.
Seeing Esme walking over he felt like things were going to finally start moving, “Sup Esme” Of course with his step monster being the manager he knew all her players and felt that he was privileged enough to call them by their first name. “Enjoying your summer away from Rebecca?” He laughed a bit knowing the players had to hate her as much as he did. They seriously just had to.
Glancing over and seeing Dax he gave him a sup nod and didn’t say much more, he was just ready to play, socializing just wasn’t what he was there for. Though he did wonder if he and Brynny still talked at all. Chuckling as he remembered bugging her about dating him. Noticing another he did give this one a smile, “Toby, I was starting to think we were going to have to come pull you out on the pitch. Glad to see you doing better mate.” His U17 captain hadn’t been around, which was kind of weird knowing how good he was. They would be so much better getting him back.
Kace got a nod as well before his eyes turned to Derry, he remembered her from school a bit, but not much and when he saw people acting all goofy he couldn’t help but roll his eyes. With his mother being in Quidditch and his step mother the celebrity thing was so over rated for them, plus she was so new yet, it just was interesting to watch. If this was going to become a star studded event for autographs he was out, he could be brewing potions or hanging with Cinna. Speaking of, his brown eyes moved around the pitch. She was supposed to be coming. His eyes widened a bit when she spoke. He glanced at Esme as in saying, umm what? They weren’t there to get to know each other, how about get on your brooms and hit things. His bat was ready!
Thank goodness her dad was doing the nine to eleven year old group, and not her age group. She was pretty excited about this. It had been years since she had been to a quidditch camp. No quidditch at school really did stink. She headed over to the practice pitch was to the others in her age group.
Of course Bart was the very first person she seen. She threw her broom over she shoulders and walked faster toward the group. She walked up beside him, grinning. "Nice broomstick you got there." Probably a gift from some ridiculous fangirl of his. You know those U17 boys were quite something, right? Speaking of U17 boys. Toby was here too. She smiled a bit, "Hey Toby." She knew who he was from school, but hadn't really talked to him much before. She also seen Kace. "Kace, Hey." She didn't know he was coming. Emmy should be here too. Nah quidditch wasn't really her thing. Kyroh? "Hey, Kyroh. I didnt expect to see you here." Was that really him? Her little cartwheel friend wasn't so little anymore.
"Hey, Esme." With her dad being a pro and now a manger she was used to not being so star struck as a lot of other people. She couldn't help but to laugh at Bart's comments. How anyone could put up with his step mother was beyond her. "Hey, Derry." She gave her a little wave. She remembered her from school more than anything too. One of Vespers friends. Okay so there wasn't a lot of other people she knew it was cool though. She just wanted to do something.

He really hoped that he wasn't too late. He was just talking with some other players and got side tracked and didn't know what time it was by the time they had gotten done talking. This was so exciting. Beck Salvatore had a big smile on his face right now. He loved to see kids just as excited about Quidditch as he was. The Frenchman took a good look around because he knew that a few of these faces would be playing in the pros with him in a few years. Now that he was thirty-one years old he never felt better. Maybe just a little more tired than before but he was on a roll with his Quidditch career and nothing was going to stop him from getting even better. Beck heard the two woman players speak and nodded to them. He had seen them play before and knew they were very talented. "Hello Everyone, I'm Beck Salvatore and I'm a keeper for the Tutshill Tornadoes." French accent and all. He gave everyone a smile and then turned to Esme? That was her name. He smiled at her. "Hello." he said simply and sent a wave to Derry.

Ummmmm.... She didn't know anybody here. Nor did she know what she was doing. BUT she had her broom and her GAME FACE (including but not limited to: furrowed eyebrows, squinted eyes, straight mouth grimace and ANGRY freckles) on and she was ready to DO STUFF (still not sure what that was, though).
Willa followed the crowd with her own, beat up, ratty broom and stopped where they did. She saw some OLDer people who announced themselves as professional players. Ooooooh, that one was French. How COOL.
"When do we get to plaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay?" Hmmmm? They'd been here for like, FIVE minutes already, come on.
"Thanks, Bart," Toby replied, dragging his eyes away from the broom again to smile over at his teammate. He gave a goofy little grin. "No pulling necessary. Wild Abraxans couldn't keep me away now." Hopefully nothing else would, either. Toby was determined to make the most of the last month or so of being on that team.
Aaaaaaaaaand back to the broom. It was getting a lot of attention, actually, so much so that Toby ended up missing a lot of the nods that were sent his way. It wasn't until he finally looked up again that he noticed how much the group had grown, with some surprise. Blinkblinkblink.
After a long pause, he nodded around at those he knew or recognised from school, even smiled distractedly at those he DIDN'T know. But wait. WAIT. That was DERRY.
Toby paused and stared. And staaaaared. And blinked. And GRINNED. Hi Derry, hiiiiiii! This was awesome, made it a gazillion times better that he'd got to come along. Toby was about to wave at Derry, perhaps say something in greeting, but then there was someone ELSE he'd not been expecting to see.
"KYROH!" Toby exclaimed in nothing short of glee, flinging his arms around the Ravenclaw and squishing him into a hug. The non-lethal kind this time. Boy... he was taller. What. No. Not allowed. Toby was ignoring that. "I wouldn't miss something like this. I didn't know you'd be here. Best surprise ever." He grinned at the younger boy and ruffled his hair, which was even longer than when he'd last seen him. "Look at you, rock star. Missed you, buddy."
Like, it had only been a month or so. But not the point. Still true. And now they got to play QUIDDITCH together? Already a brilliant day.

To be completely honest, Heather was slightly nervous about this whole endeavor. She hadn't been on a proper pitch since she left Beauxbatons, seeing as Hogwarts had this weird thing about not letting them play. So yeah, she was probably a little bit rusty. She didn't let that stop her from joining the Seeker group though. Hopefully they wouldn't be too dragged down by new people. After all, the rules for Seekers weren't that difficult.
The sudden loudness of who could only be the coaches did make her jump a bit, as she had been busy sizing up the competition and seeing who she recognized from school (a lot, it turned out). But she soon was smiling.
They would be starting soon, yes?

Leah walked out to the practice pitch with her new broom in hand. She really wanted to arrive early because she wanted to make more friends and get less nervous before the training officially began. Apparently, she did not achieve the first bit. The area was already occupied by lots of kids her age, some of whom she recognized from Hogwarts. And oooh professional players! She wondered if there were going to be players from Holyhead Harpies - her FAVORITE team. It looked like there were none at the moment, but she hid her disappoinment and smiled at all her "teachers" as she walked by.
And then it became kind of scary. With none of her best friends nearby, the Fifth Year was surprisingly quiet. Still, she had to abide by her plan and get to know people here. Leah put on her usual grin and waved at the person closest to her (WILLA), who asked a question that she was curious about too. "Hi," she said, "are you excited?" Hmmm? The girl must be, to want to play when they have been here for less than ten minutes.

Esme returned the nod from the boy (Dax) who had first acknowledged her and gave him a "hey" in response to his 'Sup?'. She wasn't sure if he just wasn't all that thrilled to be here or if it was just that teenage casualness that he was outwardly displaying, but she hoped that he'd have fun. Hearing her name, she glanced at the boy, realizing almost immediately that she knew him somewhat. "Oh, hey.. you're Rebecca's step-son, right?" Poor kid. What was his name.. Bart? He had been to visit the locker room a couple times. She couldn't help but to laugh as he talked about her manager though. "I think that's my favorite part about summer," she joked.
The Chaser watched as a few more showed up, then gave the other pro to arrive a smile and wave in return. Ferrier, wasn't it? She had never met the woman, but she did play professional Quidditch and she did know who she played against. Oh gosh, she was loud. Esme chuckled lightly to herself as Derry's sudden voice startled her slightly, but she could admit that was a good way to get the group's attention. That might come in handy later.
Looking again as she heard her name, she smiled brightly at the girl who looked somewhat familiar (Cinna). "Hey.. are you ready to get started?" She looked eager, and Esme was about ready to get started herself. Watching a few more kids show up, she gave the Tornados keeper a smile as he said hello. "Hey, Beck!" They had met before, and she had faced him on more than one occasion, so she was familiar with him.
Allowing a few more minutes for some more to show up, Esme thought maybe they should get started. They likely knew each other from school, so they probably had ample time to talk by now, they could at least do some basic things while they waited for anyone else. "I think maybe we should get them started on some laps first then maybe we can break up into groups when everyone else is here?" she mentioned to the two other players, seeing some of the kids getting a little restless. They probably didn't want to stand around and it wasn't a big deal to get in the air first. "You guys about ready to get started?" she asked the group, raising her voice just slightly. "Why don't we warm up while we are waiting for the others to arrive? We can do some laps." And she would certainly be happy to join them. Was there anyone here without a broom?

They probably didn't want to stand around and it wasn't a big deal to get in the air first. "You guys about ready to get started?" she asked the group, raising her voice just slightly. "Why don't we warm up while we are waiting for the others to arrive? We can do some laps." And she would certainly be happy to join them. Was there anyone here without a broom?
Yes. Laps. Good. Then at least they'd be in the air and Derry would feel more confident. "Yeah, good idea. We could do some general passing warm ups too..." Like they'd done at Hogwarts... sure, they did similar stuff at Montrose, but she just remembered them being more hilarious at school, for some reason.
Anyway, laps. She walked through the gaggle of children, nudging the ones who weren't listening, then nodded in Esme's direction then kicked off, taking one second to hover in the air and tie her hair up out of the way.

Being a girl and rather small for her age probably wasn't doing good for Hady right at this moment. It didn't help that this was her first time at a camp like this and had no idea what she was supposed to be going. Shifting her weight from one foot to the other she let her gaze sweep over everyone once more trying to see what they were doing....it didn't appear to be much more then greeting friends.
Sighing quietly and clutching her broom tighter in her hand she slowly made her way over towards where the older kids/adults were. Maybe someone she kinda knew from classes would see her and explain what she was meant to be doing. That would be nice...and keep her from having to ask herself. Not that she couldn't ask, she just simply would rather not have to...
