The classroom is looking a little bigger than usual. That's so it can accommodate some extra items. Yes - you notice the chairs, desks, Professor and usual paraphernalia are not the only thing waiting for you upon entry. Stood next to each desk is a mannequin, with a name plate hung around it's neck and wearing a rubbish bag as if it were a shirt.
Professor Magnus is leaning against her desk waiting to welcome you in. Say hello, sit down, and feel free to write your name on the space provided.
CLASS HAS STARTED: Please do not announce your late arrival!
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
The Slytherin realised that he had been spacing out when the class had already started. His mind was just busy with all kinds of worries and what not that he had not even heard the Professor at first.
Halfway through her explanation , Daichi snapped out of his thoughts and looked around. What was he supposed to do?! Seeing a few classmates write their name on the name tag that was on the mannequin in front of him, the Slytherin decided to do the same thing.

West had been looking at the rubbish bag and he did have a question, sort of along the lines of what Kurumi said. Sort of. He put his hand up. "Is it easier to make stuff if they already sort of resemble what you're making? Like the rubbish bag kinda has a space for your arms and head if you cut holes in it, so its sort of like a top anyway? So if you wanted to use something else, do you need to, or is it easier to, make it look sort of the right shape first?" Like stapling parchment together so it was the shape of a t-shirt or something. He could imagine, otherwise, that whatever it is might just change into a scrap of fabric or something.

Seri was not happy. No way was this... thing getting her clothes. All her nice robes from Madam Malkin's and even some nice stuff from muggle shops. Uuuuuhuh. Why didn't it just wear the binbag? When would she ever use this spell in everyday life?
"Miss, but when will I ever use the spell? When I'm older I'll just buy my own clothes. I don't want to wear stuff made of binbags!" Seri whined/complained. Seri shrugged her shoulders innocently. But it was stupid. Yeah. Seri was gonna be a really rich wizard when she was older, she'd have masses of galleons in one of the Gringott's accounts protected by dragons, only she'd have a more intresting animal. No - a pack of animals, LIONS AND TIGERS AND BEARS. Oh my!
"It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you are not."
Chace had placed his name plate reading:
Chace Denver
in front of him and was listening closely to the Professor and the other students' suggestions on what they were going to do with the bags. All right...making clothes sounded pretty cool. After all nothing like a new shirt to add to his collection and show off his nice physique.
Chace couldn't help but look at the girl that was complaining about why they had to learn to transfigure things when she could just go out and buy clothes. Chace couldn't really refrain from rolling his eyes slightly. Chace literally did not understand how some people managed to get by in life. But he would let the Professor handle that question...she would probably be nicer about it.
Did Chace have any questions...hmm...well most people had already asked what Chace was thinking about. "I have the same question posed by a few others. Does it matter what the object is or is just more important that we have a very clear idea of what we want it to transform into when we cast the spell?"

Addie was interested for this class. Fashion designing would be awesome. Addie wasn't really sure what she wanted to do when she grew up yet, but hey maybe this fashion thing would become her thing. Raising her hand she asked, "So will we be able to make our clothes unique rather than them all being the same?" She hoped so because she wanted her clothes to be unique!

The blonde guy didn't feel too much enthusiast for the lesson right now. It was so weird, since Transfiguration was a subject that he could get O for his last OWL. He didn't pay attention much and just listened that Professor Magnus wanted them to write their name to the name plate
Gerald Alexander Rush
Didn't know why he preferred to write his fullname for some reason.
So, that's why all of the mannequin here were wrapped by rubbish bag. They would transfigure the bag rubbish bag into clothes. Sounded interesting. "So, Professor." suddenly he raised his hand and asked. "Can we transfigure it into cloth with specific material? Such as wool sweater or denim jacket?"

Yes, she was right-they were transfiguring clothes. Any questions? Sarah was not one to turn down the offer. "In transfiguration of clothing, about size... is it 'one size fit all? Or does one have to adapt the incanatation or material used to his or her size? "
Eyes widening as the professor confirmed that they were indeed transforming rubbish bags into clothes, Sutton couldn't decide whether she wanted to ask a question or not. Her brain simply would not allow her to believe this was possible. She didn't want to embarrass herself, as almost all of the other students seemed to have no problems believing this was possible, but it didn't make any sense to her. Finally raising her hand, she said, "But... Professor... I don't understand. Do you mean we're going to, like, change the shape and color of the bag or something? I mean... how can you take this material and turn it into cotton or wool?"
As her face burned bright red, she slowly put her hand back down and stared at her desk.

Alyssa raised her hand.
"Professor does it mean that we'll transforming that plastic bag into a top piece clothing entirely made of plastic or are we going to change the material altogether?"
"Or does that mean that we get to choose what spell we want to use to make what we want?"
"Clothes. Yes. You are all right. Which is why I said you were almost correct with robes. It will be more separates than anything though," Issy smiled at the couple of them that were SO close. "Now, do any of you have a question before we move on to the spell?"
Elliot nodded...she had been right...as usual..hmpph!
And everyone had awesome questions, and she scribbled each down in her notebook, so that she could have the answers and just write them down. Once Professor Magnus answered them, though.
The blonde raised her hand..."And Professor, the more complicated the shirt we want to have, the more difficult, correct?" Because Elliot's top would be made of lace.
It just had to be.
Which would probably be difficult...but she wouldn't stop practicing until she tried...

Witsy couldn't wait to start. She thought anything made was fun. She would make this plastic bag turn into a shirt, then she was going to give it to Savanna.
She hoped the spell wouldn't be too difficult. This year has gone so smoothly, there was no way anything was going to change that. She wanted be on her game.
She did have one question, "Um Professor this may seem dumb, but does this spell work for any material or just plastic?"
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.

When he asked for her opinion on the classroom setting, she shrugged. Aside from the mannequin's being set up beside their desks, there wasn't anything new. "Well, maybe the classroom's bigger now?" Actually, it looked like it was bigger.
After Beezus answered his question Oakey looked around some. That...made sense. Of course the room was bigger no wonder it took him a few extra steps to get where he needed to go.
Just as everyone was answering Magnus' question about the trash bag and the mannequins Oakey stood up and wrote his name out on the name tag around the mannequins neck
OAKEY R. GUNTER
This transfiguration spell felt familiar to Oakey, like he has done it before? Maybe if he just stayed quiet and listened it would all make sense soon.
Kurumi ended up blushing a bit at that and was already visualizing herself melting the garbage bag to the dummy instead of transfiguring it into something that resembled clothing. She then turned her head towards it, more specifically the trash bag, and gave it a small tug for no real reason. The Gryffindor had been doing a lot of reading about equivalent exchange - mostly something from a nonmagical fantasy novel - but she couldn't help but wonder if it would somehow apply to what they were going to be doing in class. Transfiguring things into clothing. Which is why she raised her hand. "Professor, does the item we are going to transfigure have any influence on the final product? For example...if I were to try to transfigure something small like a piece of parchment, would I still be able to create a full t-shirt? Or would I need several pieces of parchment to accomplish this?" Also...with the amount of 'mass' their trash bags provided, did that mean they could transfigure something smaller like a vest?
Oh, there were a lot of questions. Good, she liked that. Kurumi first.
"As I said, skill level comes in to it a great deal. Very experienced witches and wizards will be able to turn almost anything into any size or material, should they choose to. I've obviously gone for something easier for you all as you have yet to try this out," Isabelle smiled.

Laura.
She actually had a good question for once. Was it raining yet outside? Issy snuck a quick look out the window just to check, before turning her attention to the Hufflepuff.
"There is no law against it, but it is very hard to perform to a standard where you get intricate designs or brilliant patterns. And what if the shops don't have the exact thing you want? Why not make it? If you think about it, it's not much different from sewing your own clothes, like Muggles do."

"It is always easier to transfigure things when they are similar, which is why you're all starting with these bags. But as you become more adept at the spell it really shouldn't matter which item you use it on."
Although that reminded her of something she really should mention, even if it wasn't immediately needed. "I should just point out though, for some reason this spell doesn't work on metal objects. They just melt," even for her when she tried. "Not entirely sure why.... Probably due to rigidity, so best to stick to items that are reasonably flexible to begin with."

Right, time to move on then now all questions had been answered. If they had any more they could ask as the lesson went on. Going back over to the mannequin by the desk of the Ravenclaw she'd spoken to before, Issy flexed her wand hand and got ready to perform her demonstration. "Now, as I said before, you can all sketch out a design first if you want to. If you think it will help. But right now I will show you how to do the actual spell so anyone that wishes to get on with practice can do so."
Taking a step backwards, she pointed her wand at the dummy and cleared her throat, looking around to make sure they could all see her. Yes? Good. "The incantation is 'Summus Vestis' and the wand movement is a Z shape in front of the object you are changing. Like so.... Sum-mus Vest-is!" With a sharp zig zag motion the rubbish bag on the mannequin suddenly started growing arms and changing colour to a blue and black check diamond pattern. Finally what was left was a jumper.
"Okay, if you've all got that you're more than welcome to start trying it out. The reversal spell is the same as usual, but if you need help with that please ask me or an older student." Isabelle flung her arms out and grinned. "Away you go."

Vee looked at her mannequin, trying to figure out what clothing she could picture it in. It wasn't easy.
Drawing out a piece of paper and a pencil, she quickly sketched out the outline of a person - a dressed person. Now, that was better. A polo shirt and skirt. White and red, just to make it easier for her to get it right. She'd start with the shirt.
Taking a deep breath, she stood up and placed herself directly in front of the mannequin.
"Right, I'm ready for you," she said to the lifeless construction. Yes, so she talked to inanimate objects - it helped, sometimes.
"Summus vestis!" she moved her wand as if she were tracing a 'Z' in the air and watched things... happen.
Not that much did. She had meant for the polo shirt to be red, and indeed red did appear. Yet not in the form of fabric but paint, which was unevenly splashed across the mannequin's torso.

Vivi wasn't much of a clotheshorse, so there weren't gaping holes in her wardrobe that she was just dying to fill. There were gaping holes, but she didn't really care. So she was at a bit of a loss as to what she wanted to transfigure. Something simple to start, perhaps, since she didn't really have a broad spectrum to choose from.
A plain white t-shirt would be a good start. Easy enough, and that way she'd get the basic skills in place to try something more complicated. Plus she wouldn't have to sketch anything... anyone in the entire room could visualize a t-shirt. Plain. White. Easy.
Vivi tugged the trash bag down around her poor mannequin's 'hips' until it was straight and free of wrinkles, and then Vivi pointed the wand and thought deep t-shirty thoughts. "Summus Vestis," she murmured, drawing the Z across the mannequin. The bag began to reshape and turn white, and Vivi gave a little victory dance. FIRST TRY!!
Or... no. Not first try. Her t-shirt was distinctly shapeless, with halfhearted attempts at arms and no distinct neck at all. Worst of all, it had turned white but the material hadn't changed, leaving Vivi with a misshapen white rubbish bag instead of a wearable article of clothing. Tricky, tricky... one had to consider the cut, color, fit, AND fabric in this transfiguration. Complicated indeed.

Theodore's face went all ga-ga as the professor demonstrated the spell. He always went a bit coo-coo at the sight of magic. Because he couldn't do it very well, so he HAD to admire everyone else's skills. Or just be madly jealous.
She said something about the 'reverse spell being the same as usual'.... and he made a face at that. Was he supposed to know this spell? Was he not LISTENING to that part last term? Oh well, he'd be fine. Look at all the old people around, they wouldn't let him blow anything up, would they now?
He practice the wand movement on it's own first, without saying anything, or pointing at anything in particular. Just getting the Z shape down, bro. Okay. The second year cleared his throat sharply, and pointed his wand at the rubbish bag.
"S-S-um-mus... Vest-is." But oh wait...... HE FORGOT THE MOVEMENT.
He poked himself in the side of the head with his wand. A dangerous move, but Theo could handle it. It was always the wand movement.
"Summus Vest-is!" He over dramatically waved the Z shape this time, and the rubbish bag DID transfigure into fabric, only it was a mere ribbon wrapped around the waist of the mannequin. What a waste of a bag, man...
He required an old person, please.

Right. Another class that required her to use spells. You'd think she would have gotten used to it by now but she hadn't. Obviously she didn't mind casting spells and stuff...she just hardly knew any...
Leaning forward and propping her elbows on her desk she stared over at the Professor intently. This would be yet another new spell for her and she needed to get it right so she wouldn't have to walk around the classroom sulking and hoping someone would help her. Alexa's eyes followed the woman's every wand movement and was amazed at the results--that it...until she remembered that hers would look nothing like that and hers would not have been so easily accomplished. When that sank in she began to think that just maybe, the Professor was showing off a bit. That had to be it. Yup.
With a heavy sigh she turned to the mannequin by her desk. This would be...interesting...
"You probably aren't gonna like this any more than I would," seeing as she hated having people point their wands at her, "but it's gotta get done...even if it takes a million a few tries." Nod.
"Riiiiiiight." Her reluctance was evident as she raised her wand at the bag. "Summus Vestis." followed by the Z-shape...--was it supposed to be a z-shape going to the left...or to the right...? The Professor had gone to her left...or was that Lex's left...? Merlin, people needed to start being more specific. She tried waving the wand both ways, then alternately, then in an N-shape just in case the Z was supposed to be upside-down or whichever way that was, but nothing happened.
Mmmm.
She lowered her wand and decided to watch an older kid; Z's were apparently very complicated letters to form and she needed to see the precise technique once more.

Annabelle heard the professor's directions and wanted to continue what she was demonstrating. Belle took out her wand from her book bag and was practicing the Z formation. "Summus Vestis...Summus Vestis...Summus Vestis." she repeated in her head and was doing the wand movement. She copied down the spell in her notebook to not make a mistake before she said it.
"Alright let's do this...." Belle said to herself. She pointed the wand at the mannequin and said "Summis Vestis!" Nothing happened. "Hmm that is strange." Belle thought to herself. Maybe she didn't do the wand movement right. She tried it a second time. "Summus Vestis!" she said and used the movement and she was almost there. She saw half of the sweater on the mannequin. Huh, at least Belle was almost there. She just needed to practice a lot more with her wand movements.
Oh, there were a lot of questions. Good, she liked that. Kurumi first.

They just melt," even for her when she tried. "Not entirely sure why.... Probably due to rigidity, so best to stick to items that are reasonably flexible to begin with."
Isabelle moved on and narrowed her eyes at the young Lion who spoke up next.
"What if you're in a situation where you've got ripped or stained clothes and you want to replace them, but you can't get to any shops?" Yep, she answered a question with a question. So sue her.
"Having a clear idea is always needed when performing a transfiguration spell, but as I said a minute ago any object bar metal ones really."
"Of course you will. However far your imagine and wand work and skill can take you. I will let you all design something first if you wish to have a picture to work from," Issy replied with a smile.
"As far as this particular spell goes it's all in the intent. You want cotton? Concentrate. Of course you probably won't get it right first time," Issy said, raising her eyebrows and grinning. People very rarely did. But that was what practice was for.
Moving back to the front, Isabelle leant against her desk again and folded her arms. Turning her head to the person speaking next, she tilted it and chewed on her bottom lip.
"You don't change the incantation, no. It's generally about intent for this as well. Although you can choose an item to use that is a reasonable size to what you might want." If that made any sense.
Isabelle was guessing this child was quite new to the whole magic thing. If her question was anything to go by. Now, how did she answer without just saying 'it's magic!'
"Yes, that's exactly what I mean," she smiled. "You use this, this and the incantation I'm about to give you all." Isabelle flicked her wand out and held it up, before pointing to her head, indicating the brain.
"You can keep it as plastic if you want to, Miss Potter. But I'd hazard a guess it might get a bit hot during summer time." Isabelle winked at the Hufflepuff before moving to the second part of her question. "Uh, no. You have one spell per lesson to learn."
"Absolutely correct. Always the way I'm afraid." Always the way.
"Any bar metal, as I explained earlier," Issy smiled.
OOC: Remember nobody is perfect, so your character shouldn't really get it right straight away. Any questions ask Isabelle and I'll reply when I can. Have fun! TOPS/SHIRTS/JUMPERS ONLY....NOTHING FOR THE LOWER HALF DURING THIS LESSON!
"Can't get to any shops?!" Seri said increduclously."Miss, I really don't think I've every visited, or ever will visit such a place!" Seri gasped, frowning. A place without shops? MERLIN. That was like sausages without ketchup! "Besides, I could just use scourgify or use the old-fahioned, muggle way of doing things.." Seri voice dropped to a whisper, "Sewing!"
She couldn't see much point, but she still grabbed a brown paper WWW bag. Now that bought back memories. She shoved it over her mannequins headless-ness and grabbed her wand. She said "Summ's vests." JUST like the teacher said. Well, like she thought it should be. She zig-zagged her wand around slightly madly, and was intensely suprised when nothing happened.
"See miss, I won't use the charm and it doesn't even work!" Seri whined, frustrated. She wasn't even going to bother. Who would even want to wear that, she added, in her thoughts. It was an ugly blue jumper the teacher had conjured. If she got that and she'd been doing it for years, what hope did Seri have of conjuring anything even slightly fashionable?

Well, that was good to know that the laws of equivalent exchange were something purely out of fantasy. It was something that never ceased to amaze her about magic. Scientific laws, the ones she had learned about before attending Hogwarts in her nonmagical school, simply didn't apply. Not that this law of equivalent exchange was actually something that had been in her textbooks or anything.
Nodding, Kurumi returned to her notes and wrote down a few more tid bits based on Professor Magnus' response to her question...along with BIG THICK LETTERS reminding her not to use this new spell on metal because it was a sure way that things would melt.
Not that Kurumi didn't ALREADY melt things on a first go. Sigh.

Sketch out a design? Erm...how about we try for a simple white t-shirt first? Or maybe even just a black one since her trash bag covered mannequin was already black and that was one less element she needed to tamper with. Yep, that sounded like a good idea. Simple black t-shirt.
Too bad the spell had a V in it. Kurumi hated V sounds and her hands were already on her cheeks, massaging and tugging on them, to try and loosen their muscles up. "Summus Vestis...Summus Vestis....Summus Vestis..." Kurumi muttered to herself, somehow managing to make a decent V sound instead of a B one. Tracing a Z in the air a few times just to get the wand movement down, Kurumi turned in her seat and staaaaaaaaaared at the mannequin.
"I will NOT melt you...I will NOT melt you..." she ended up muttering to herself while rolling her shoulders. Okay...here goes nothing? Tracing a Z in the air, Kurumi repeated the incantation - unfortunately making more of a B sound than a V - and watched as her trash bag began to glow...
.................. o_______________O
Okay...wait...it wasn't just glowing now...
"KYA!" Kurumi squeaked as she flailed around just a bit with her wand in attempt not to drop it. IT WAS ON FIRE! Kurumi somehow managed to cast a silent Aguamenti, putting out the flames...but not before the bag had melted to the mannequin.
Was Reverto going to work on this mess? Sigh.

Well, this could go down bad... Kai stood up and spaced his legs apart, 'the action stance' as he called it. He didn't want to make a fool of himself, getting it right first time would assure that he wouldn't, right?
He needed something simple, simple was good - simple was easy. He had seen a seventh year almost make a white t-shirt, that seemed like a smart idea - why didn't he think of that first? "Let's get you out of these rags, or should I say bags?" he beamed at his headless new pal.
White, cotton, sleeves, v-neck. White, cotton, sleeves, v-neck. White, cotton, sleeves, v-neck. Here goes nothing. "Summus Vestis!" he squeaked, making a quick z-shaped swish with his wand before clasping his hands over his face for protection. After a few seconds, he gathered the courage to take a look at his creation.
"...Oops" Kai said sheepishly. It hadn't gone quite to plan. In place of the mannequin's bin bag was a sticky black substance dripping from the mannequin to the floor. "I think we need to learn how to make tea towels...". He bent down to scoop it up, and began plastering it onto the mannequin's bare chest area.
"Definitely need some practice..." He thought to himself.

Can you say complicated?! Emmanuelle couldn't remember a time when she'd had to change so many things at once! Simple would probably be best in this case, no? As in, a t-shirt of some kind. Em closed her eyes and imagined a nice simple green shirt, then aimed her wand towards the mannequin, moving her wand in the same Z pattern that the professor had used. "'Summus Vestis! It worked, kind of. Okay, not really. The trash bag had turned green, but that's ALL that happened. Sigh.
Try, try again.

Elliot nodded at the professor...hard work and determination seemed to be the answer to everything with magic...except maybe History of Magic...wait, scratch that. It definitely took hard work and determination to NOT fall asleep in that class...when it was just lecture stuff.
She pulled out her wand, really actually excited to start...SHE WOULD HAVE A LACY BLOUSE BY THE END OF THE LESSON! She was soooo determined. Which was HALF of that whole 'hard work and determination' thing...
She cleared her throat...looked at the trash bag, and pointed her wand at it...she closed her eyes, picturing LAAAACEEEE!!! and then opened them. She said, in a certain and clear voice, "Summus Vestis!" Which meant YOU ARE CLOTHES in Latin...pahah! Elliot thought it was funny. She watched as the trash bag began to change...and change...into...
Elliot scowled, stamping her foot angrily onto the ground.
It was a simple white shirt. A V NECK WHITE SHIRT. Elliot HAAAAATED v-necks! UGH. She rolled her eyes...maybe she had focused too much on the color white...maybe she had to just picture...lace patterns? UGH.

The wheels were turning in Sierra's head now. So the spell was useful if/when you tore your clothes, spilled something on them, etc. and absolutely had to have something else to wear. But what...if you...didn't have anything nearby like a bag or piece of parchment? Or whatever else you could use? Sierra shrugged to herself, deciding not to question things much further.
Even though she was a sixth year and more than capable of attempting a spell on the first try, she decided to test things out first anyway. She made a Z shape in the air and said, "Summus Vestis!" Of course nothing happened, but that was because she was only practicing and hadn't aimed at anything or focused her intentions on it.
She was just about ready to practice again, when...

She dropped her wand to her side and approached Serenity. She knew this firstie. She was a snake, and she'd seen her around some. She'd also been heading out Lafay's office just as Sierra had been heading in. Hmm...wonder what she'd been in there for...
"You don't have the right incantation," Sierra offered. "Try this--Summus Vestis. Sum-mus Vest-is." She gestured for this girl to go ahead and give a go.

Minerva listened to Professor Magnus as she explained what they were going to do. Nothing could take the smile off of Minerva's face knowing she was going to learn these spells. Well she thought nothing would take the smile from her face, but she was wrong.. her face went from a smile to confusion when the professor did the spell and a sweater appeared, but she called it a jumper. Wasn't a jumper a dress that a little girl wore?? Minerva shrugged it off as another change from American and then went back to being excited to get started.
She got her wand out and made the Z a few times to practice. Then without moving her wands she practiced saying the spell, "Summus vestis", "Summus vestis". Once she felt she had the spell right Minerva moved and pointed her wand to the bag. Making the Z she said the spell "Summus vestis" The bag formed, but not into a full shirt, it was only half a shirt. Frowning at her failed attempt Minerva pointed her wand "reverto" to change it back to a bag.
