As you walk into the classroom, you notice that everything is exactly where it should be. The desks are in their perfect rows, the large one belonging to Professor Magnus is situated at the back of the room, covered still in it's usual piles of papers. The blackboard is off to the side and has the following written on it:

Adam listened thoughtfully to other people's answers, finding it interesting how everyone's opinions were so different. It would be nice if there weren't limitations on things like food and money, but he supposed that everything came with a price, even things with the best intentions. After thinking for a few moments as to his favorite spell Adam got up and wrote on the board.

Ella looked at the list of favorite spells on the board. She laughed softly when she saw Minnie's, knowing how much her friend used that particular spell. Ella had many spells that she liked but what was her favorite spell? Thinking about it, the one that she thought most useful at the moment was the summoning charm. It really came in handy and could be used everyday for various reasons. Because of this, Ella decided to write Accio on the board.

OOC: Yes, I should have said I meant a Transfig one. But we can work with this. I'll just change my question.
Isabelle continued to sit on her desk, legs swinging every so often as another child came up to the front and wrote on the board. She gave each one a smile and leant forward a bit to see what they had written. Some interesting answers, certainly. Although she was a little concerned about the people who'd written 'lazy'.

"Very good everyone, thank you," Issy finally said, hopping down and walking over to the board herself. "Now, I notice that not all of these are Transfiguration spells," which is what she'd been hoping for, considering the lesson. Maybe she should have made it clear. Anyway, onwards. "So, due to that fact - who can tell me which ones ARE considered Transfiguration?"

Duh! Why hadn't Ella thought of that. They were in transfiguration so of course she meant transfiguration spells...whoops!
Raising her hand, Ella answered the next question that was asked. "Well Professor, I think Orchideus is a transfiguration spell because it conjures flowers. And maybe Ristaris too, since it conjures up a different hair color or style..." Though she wasn't a hunder percent on that one.
Nigel was shocked that he did not even think that he should have put up his favorite transfiguration spell. Well it is to late now.
Nigel put up his hand and said "Professor i think the only spell that is a transfiguration spell is Orchideusbecause it conjures flowers from the end of the wand."
Belle smacked herself in her head. She felt stupid that she didn't put in a transfiguration spell. "Professor i know Piertotum Locomotor is a transfiguration spell and also like my two classmates mentioned, Orchiedous is as well."

Oh. It was supposed to be a transfiguration spell. Opps. Oh well. Indy mused about the professors question for a few seconds before she raised her hand. "Maybe the Multicorfors spell, as it changes colors. Maybe it transfigures the spell...." Indy mused, thinking about what she was saying. "I suppose though....it could also be a charm though..." Hmm. So maybe it wasn't a transfiguration spell at all. The professor would tell her right? Because Indy really wasn't too sure now. Hmm. She was feeling a little confused, and blonde, and litte now. Some help please?

Jezzabelle stared at the spells that had been written up on the board and she tried to figure out if there were actually any transfiguration spells on the board to begin with. If she had known that she would've put undecided, because she didn't have a favorite transfiguration spell yet.....
Oh well, onward they went with class. "Eh, err..." she had her hand in the air and she wasn't exactly sure which was what. She hated to give answers already given but, "Orchideous and Piertotum Locomotor are both transfiguration spells."

The Lesson was going fine until the professor pointed out that she had been expecting [I]Transfiguration[I] spells. Oh, this is not good. I've made a fool out of myself.
So had many others, for that matter. That didn't change much, but it did make Chelle feel a tad better.
"Uh, Multicorfors should certainly be a Transfiguration spell. Apart from that, Ristaris, Orchideus and Aguamenti, I think, are Transfiguration spells, too," she said to the Professor, hopefully.

He looked at the answsers on the board. Some, like his, were obviously charms, some were more so defensive spells, others, like Lumos, he was confused whether it would fall as transfiguration spell or something else. "Professor, Transfiguration spells are those which changes the inherent qualities of an object to something else, versus Charms spells that simply adds certain properties onto an existing object or creature." he replied after raising his hand "Given the list on the board, I would say Orchideous and Ristaris would be Transfiguration spells... and uhm, Lumos, Expecto Patronum, Aguamenti and... the Bluebell flame spell?" he has read that some of these have the word "charm" attached to them in some literature, but he had to wonder if it was a misnomer and the strictly speaking, given that they are all conjuring spells, they would fall under the branch of Transfiguration.

Ohhh.
Well, of course they had to write Transfiguration spells. Why hadn't Nora thought of that?
At least professor Magnus was not mad at them, or so it seemed. "Orchideous is," she said after raising her hand, "but I'm not sure about Lumos and Aguamenti." They did conjure light and water, didn't they? So... they probably were Transfiguration spells as well. As for the others... nope, they were all anything but Transfiguration.
Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna
As Gideon watched the spells being placed on the list after him, he couldn't help but wonder if the professor had meant just transfiguration spells as he had heard it as or any spells seeing as quite a few that were included were charms. When Professor MAgnus asked which they thought were transfiguration, he raised his hand to answer and supply his own opinions. "Ristaris, Piertotum Locomotor, Multicorfors, and Porsectum are tranfiguration spells I believe and the rest are charms because transfiguration spells are about changing items and charms are about conjuring." At least if he remembered the definition of either correctly that was so.
Justin knew all too well of the Transfiguration spell of Ristaris . His best friend Minerva used that on him a few times since they all met fist year. " Professor. I definately know that Ristaris is a transfiguration spell. Probably the most fun to use as well. "

OH YEAH.
Theodore raised his hand immediately, "Sir, I said Orchideous." Just saying... Him and one other were the smart ones. He needed extra points due to his logic. He had thought about writing down a charm, because charms had more options, but this was a TRANSFIGURATION class, so.
Logic. Theo wreaked with it.
"I believe...." He was never 100% sure on anything, "that transfiguration is used to change properties of an object. Whereas charms can't change an object, just do things TO the object."
Was he making sense here?

Oh. They're supposed to write Transfiguration spell? But his is a transfiguration spell, right? Hands up. "I think Orchideous is consider Transfiguration spell since its conjures things." Flowers. "And if I'm right conjuration belongs to the Trans-species Tranformations. Its one of the three sub-types of Transformation?" Or maybe he's wrong.

"The root of the words 'tranfiguration and charms. tells us something. Maybe in Tranfiguration, you tranfigure something into something else. Changing an objects form or figure and in charms you charm soemthing. As transfigure is to transform into something more beautiful or elevated: "the world is made luminous and is transfigured"." Sarah looked at the board and chose the ones she thought were transfiguration spells off of it Ristaris(you can change hair colour), Orchideous (you can make flowers), Multicorfors (you transfigure a colour of an object), Glisseo (Used to make objects slippery)
Bluebell flames, Aguamenti and Porsectum are tranfiguration spells. she continued

Would you get rid of any of these exceptions if you had the chance?" Or would their morals get the better of them.
Well, duh.
That'd be a big, fat NO. Normally, Sierra would be all about some PERSONAL POWER, but hello?! Voldemort anyone?! That man was practically gray by the time Potter finally did away with him. Gross.
Sometimes, even personal power had a limit, and it began with prolonging life.

Having money on tap, while a nice thought, would mean the economy would suffer. And love and life are so complex that happiness at being with someone, or having them back, wouldn't necessarily last."
Flicking her wand at the board, Isabelle erased the first lot of writing, and re-wrote the second part. Leaving enough space for the kids to write their names etc.
"Thank you all for your input in that discussion, I hope you all got something from it. Information on the reasons why they're exceptions at the very least. But now I'd like to move on to another discussion, a more light hearted one I hope."
Isabelle didn't move from her seated position on her desk, instead she just pointed at the board using her wand as a guide. "What I'd like you all to do is come up here and fill in the information I've asked for - with just a one word, or one sentence reason please. Then we can expand on it all in a jiffy."
OOC: Sarah, I wasn't sure if we could still add to the list, so I didn't do the whole quote thing. This is Sierra's addition, though.
Back in her seat, Sierra glanced toward the board and reread her addition. It read:
Name: Sierra Greingoth Favourite Spell: Aparecium Reason: I like the mystery behind it. It's sort of like opening a present, even though the present, once opened, may not be pleasing to you.

"Well, all the ones that mention color changing are considered Transfiguration spells," she said, raising her hand. "Ristaris, for example, because it can change a person's hair color just by the wave of a wand." She read through the list again, mentally eliminating the ones she knew weren't Transfiguration spells. She tried to come up with a second one, but this whole Transfiguration versus Charms differentiation had always been hard for her. Sometimes it just seemed like things changed when they really hadn't changed at all--they'd just appeared out of nowhere.

By the time Alex got the list, the professor had already moved on with the lesson. Sigh. His spell would have been a good addition too, since he liked the expansion charm that made your bookbag bigger and stuff so you could put things like...suits of armour in there.
He raised his hand. "Any spells that conjure something out of thin air, like that flower one...those are transfiguration ones, right?" he replied.

SPOILER!!: my answer to your previous question
Name: Selina Skylar Favourite Spell: Tarantallegra Reason: It makes people dance funny. Merlin, who wouldn't like that spell? It's brilliantly funny.
As Selina looked over the board she contemplated her Professor's question. She knew that they all were spells and what they all did, but beyond that she could only assume which spell was which. Of course, she did know what the definition of a transfiguration so that would help her narrow down the spells that COULD be defined as transfiguration spells.
With that in mind she glanced back at the list once more and rose her hand, "I believe that Glisseo is technically a transfiguration spell because it transfigures a rocky surface into a smoother surface. It takes one object and shifts it properties around." That was her most intelligent guess, but that was all that the answer was- a guess.
I Can Accept Failure. But I Can't Accept Not Trying
Jordan continued to stare at the other Hogwarts students, as they were shooting out answers like bullets in a gun. He wasn't the brightest Transfiguration student, so he listened to everyone else, while trying to remember and understand what the other students said.
Name: Audrey Holiday Favourite Spell: Aqua Eructo Reason: It is useful for more than just an offensive attack. I like to use it to water plants in the Herbology green house.

Oh! Anya knew this one! Her hand shot up. "Transfiguration spells are the ones that physically change something. So... like.. the -ifors spells..." Which... there was only one on the board. BAD EXAMPLE ANYA! "Or..." She quickly scanned the board. "glisseo."
That would work.
