Transfiguration Lesson 3 Lars propped open the door to the transfiguration classroom and returned to his desk at the front of the room. Today, the desks were arranged in pairs, and on each desk was a pink, rabbit-shaped and sugar-covered marshmallow and a chess piece. Not a chess piece from a wizarding chess set, though. These were simple, Muggle chess pieces. Nothing magical about them. At the front of the classroom, on Professor Svensson's desk, was a chess board complete with all its pieces. |

With her blonde hair in plaits Brody Summers entered the Transfiguration classroom with a smile on her face. She liked this lesson. Tehhe. "Hello Professor" She nodded, a she took a seat at one of the paired desks. Oooh. Pink marshmallow. It looked yummmy! She wanted to eat it. Tehhe. She hoped they could eat them laaatter. Or maybe the Professor had a stashs she could have...or maybe not.

Alexandra skipped into the Transfiguration classroom and smiled at the Professor. "Good day, Professor" she said with a little giggle. This was easily becoming one of her favorite subjects. Noticing that the desks were in pairs she plopped down at one desk and waited for Lorcan. Hopefully they wouldn't blow anything up today... or catch anything on fire.

Weeeeeell, another class to go to. Transfiguration was fun and all, but Miranda thought it was a bit difficult. But hopefully today would be allright. Walking inside the classroom, she halted when she noticed the desks and that there was something on them... CANDY! Oh yes, this would be a good class indeed! With a wave, Miranda greeted the man. "Good Day Professor Svensson, sir! How are you today?" she proceeded to sit down at the front of the class as usual to make sure she saw everything the professor was demonstrating.

Becca hopped along to a random beat in her head on her way to Transfiguration. She walked over the threshold, careful not to trip and then surveyed the room, before saying, with a grin, "Hello Professor, seems like it's going to be a fun lesson, I can already tell!". Then she took a seat at one of the paired desks. She hoped somebody she could get to know would sit next to her.. Last edited by Mrs_Molly_Weasley; 11-06-2009 at 11:32 PM..

Tammy smiled a little bit, and gave her nose a little rub with her palm as she walked into the classroom and headed for the back of the class. But she didn't get far, until she turned and smiled at Professor Svensson, and greeted him. "Hey Professor." The smile slowly turned into a grin, and she continued for the back of the classroom. Before taking a seat back there, hoping the person that would sit in her 'pair' would be someone nice.

Anya walked into the Transfiguration classroom. Seeing the pink bunnies on the desks put a big smile on her face. Giggling to herself, she walked through the door, "Hello Professor!" She sat down at one of the desks and waited for anybody she knew.

It appeared that a fair amount of students had arrived. Looking at his watch, Professor Svensson saw that it was time for class to begin. "If someone could please close the door, we'll begin," he said, standing up. He paced around his desk until he stood next to his chess board. "Who can tell me the difference between the chess pieces on your desk, and my chess set here?" Svensson asked, gesturing at his own chess pieces but not actually touching them. | ||||

Anya raised her hand. "These are muggle chess pieces and you have a wizard chess set." Anya stated. She wanted to get a good start this lesson, to get an E, maybe even an O. Anya turned at the sound of her name, blushing. Seeing it was Sky, she smiled brightly at her.

Adrienne raised her hand from her desk near the back, that she had slipped into shortly before class started. "Professor, these are Muggle chess pieces, which aren't able to move on their own. And, assuming everyone else is correct that you have a Wizarding chess set at your desk, those pieces are charmed or something so that they can move on their own." Not that she'd ever been very good at Wizarding chess, other than conceptually.

"Say I wanted to make both of these chess pieces as similar as possible, in terms of what we just discussed. Let's brainstorm some ways we could do that," he said. | |

Evelyn, who was sitting towards more of the back of the room, looked around as everyone started to call out answers. 'Hmm, difference between muggle and wizard chess pieces...well one is definitely more exciting than the other.' Smirking, she then turned her attention to the PINK marshmallow. Oh how she hated the color pink. And it was another marshmallow. 'Getting kind tired of those..' Leaning back in her seat, Evelyn surveyed the room again, listening to what the Professor was saying. She had no idea how to make them both similar, but on the other hand, she wasn't trying to think of any ideas either. She was feeling too tired at the moment. "Can't you just make the wizard chess piece...not...move on their own? Or make the muggle ones move..." she mumbled quietly to herself, drawing circles on the desk with her finger. It was the only thing she could think of at the moment.

Hmmm... Alexandra thought on that one for a moment charming the muggle pieces to move would work, but this was Transfiguration, not charms... Hmmm indeed. She kept her hand down this time, waiting for the Professor to answer.

How to make the chess pieces as similar as possible?, Adrienne mused, still a little surprised at the reaction her previous answer had gotten from the professor. But then she came up with a few ideas, and raised her hand again. "Would 'Petrificus Totalus' work on the Wizarding chess pieces? Because that would make them unable to move on their own. Or, the reverse would be some form of the Mobilicorpus spell, although you'd have to change the incantation to refer to the Muggle chess piece. But even then, you'd still be moving it. Or, you could always just use a Switching Spell, make the Wizarding chess piece a Muggle one and vice versa." And now that hse said it, those ideas sounded ridiculous. But they were all she could come up with currently.

Becca raised her hand slowly, after listening to everyone else's response. To tell the truth, she had no idea what the answer was. "I agree with her." Becca nodded her head in the direction of the older Ravvie. "It makes a lot of sense to me." Well, it sounded like a pretty good answer, and it sounded very accurate.

Marie raised her hand "Sir, we could use Immobulus on the wizarding pieces to make them like the muggle pieces." She really had no clue what the answer would be but she wanted to give some sort of answer. She looked at Kay waiting to hear what she had to say.

Aah, Transfiguration. Keeley's favorite class EVER. Well, being a metamorphagus, how could it not? But, having been in the hospital wing for the last lesson, she was behind. She fingered the cross pendant around her neck. Hmm... how to make them as similar as possible?
