| | Transfiguration Lesson 1 Welcome to your first Transfiguration lesson with Professor York. The gramophone in the classroom is playing some soft cello music, which floats down the corridor of the sixth floor.
The door to the classroom is wide open, and Professor York is standing at the front of the class leaning against her desk, ready to greet all of those new faces. In her hands is a bowl full of familiar looking beans. That’s right; Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans. As your character come through, she offers them the bowl with a slightly sly smile. Do you dare try one?
On the board in front there is a message; Please write your first and last name on the badges located on each desk.
On each desk is a small rectangular badge. Normal quill ink will work fine.
The classroom is currently a soft cream colour with dark furniture. On top of the Professor's large desk is a box of small musical instruments. What are they for, you might be thinking. The single school desks are arranged in a circle with an empty desk reserved for Professor York. Please take a seat, say hello to a neighbour, get your things out and put your name badges on. OOC: Class will start in about 15-20 hours.
Class has officially started now, so please don't post you character arriving late unless you want to suffer the wrath of Beatrice! Muahaha
Please make sure you read the rules before posting too. Class Progression: Post 1 Post 2 Post 3 Post 4 |

| Post 4 Crinus Muto Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna Alright...enough of the beach bum blonde.
Ben was ready to move onto another attempt at the transformation spell. Now to see what he could come up with next. "Crinus Muto..." he said calmly as he tried to invision a change in his hair color and style. The incantation not in full force as he warmed himself up for the actual casting. He preferred not to just attempt it without some preparation even if he had been practicing it moments before with the first time.
With a deep breath, he was finally ready to work out the spell once more. "Crinus Muto!" he cast, full of intent as he made the arching wand movement required. Just a few seconds later his blonde hair was getting shorter and darker bit by bit until finally the changes had stopped and Benny raised his mirror once more to check himself out. He was greeted by dark brown, perhaps black hair that curled up in little tendrils all over the top of his head.
Woah...that was a switch.

| #3 : Vera Verto (and missing mouse) ∞ 17 | RP entrepreneur | defies gravity | Miss George is flawless | blanket burrito lyfe Rooney watched for a little while more, which seemed like forever, but in actuality it was a whole thirty seconds. And then Wanda was really gone. Wanda was a full matchbox. Not a half and not nearly a worm any more. Not actually a worm. Wanda and Wiggles were a match(box) made in heaven.
He noted the length of time it had taken and his thoughts as to why that had happened, before checking the notes he had made about the second spell that his age range was to practice. Ah. Animals. Animals that would move if he left them too long and failed. Taking one of the mice, Roo set it on his desk and watched it carefully with squinted eyes. Stay. Stay. Stay. Was the mouse hearing him? It hadn’t moved, but he didn’t want it to be dead or anything. – OH HO. It blinked. It was alive. That was…good, yes?
He wasn’t going to name this o- Oh but it looked a little like a Maurice. Maurice the mouse. Yes, yes. That suited him quite nicely. Okay. Three taps and he would have a goblet, right? Wand in the direction of the mouse, Roo tapped it three times. ”Vera Verto!” ……. Seriously? This was because he had let himself name the mouse, wasn’t it? This was all to do with his likening of the name Maurice. ”Um……” Goodbye, mouse? In the time it took Rooney to scold himself for naming the worms earlier and the mouse had gone. G-O-N-E.
He caught sight of a tail slinking around by someone elses feet and rocked back on his own heels and decided to pretend that he had had nothing to do with that at all. Nothing at all.

Marsha was pretty confident with this one. Turning a mouse into a goblet, seemed pretty easy… right? And where could she go wrong with tapping her wand three times OR with saying vera verto? Exactly. She didn’t think that she could.
Hopefully she wasn’t TOO over confident.
Finally picking her wand up off of the floor where she had left it for safekeeping, the red head kept the mouse in place with her fingers crooked around its neck. ”There there… it’s okay little guy. I promise you’ll be a mouse again in no time.”
Taptaptap. ”Vera Verto!”
Looking down at her hand, she laughed and whooped - sorry everyone else!! - as she found herself holding onto a rather plain GOBLET. A GOBLET! Beaming wide, she looked around wondering if anyone even saw that she had managed that on her first attempt… but didn’t really care either way as she had managed it.
Turning the goblet this way and that, she inspected it, as if looking for fur or ears or heck, even a tail. But there wasn’t anything odd about it.
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Setting it on the ground, she focused on the sheild-like shape as she once again repeated, ”Finite!”. The beaming smile stayed on her face as she looked down to see the mouse again. Picking it up she smiled at it. ”Told you… thank you for your help.” She then put it back into the box and happily waited for Professor York to move onto the next part of the lesson.

Stop wiggling so much, mouse. Olly was having just a little bit of a problem making sure his subject did not get away. But it had not managed to escape so far, so he could still consider his attempts a success. He just had to hurry up and get the spell right, because a goblet did not try and run away. "Vera Verto." He tapped the mouse three times, and with each tap it seemed to squirm even more. It was very distracting, so it was unsurprising when the spell did not work. Olly concentrated on what he was doing, ignoring the movements of the mouse in his left hand. Concentrate. "Vera Verto." Tap. Tap. Tap. Nothing. "Vera Verto." This time, on the third tap, the mouse began to transform. Began being the important word there. It took on the shape of a goblet, but retained it's mouse fur and tail. And it was still wiggling. Not as much as a fully mouse-shaped mouse would be able to, but more than a goblet should. Uh, that was not right.

| #4 : Vera Verto ∞ 17 | RP entrepreneur | defies gravity | Miss George is flawless | blanket burrito lyfe Still pretending that his first mouse hadn't ran away, Rooney went to get himself another, making sure to...cage this one in with his quill case, his wand holster, his notebook and his shoe. So yes, he was standing without the wand holster at his waist, and without one of his shoes. But his socks were perfectly clean, which made sure for no smell whatsoever. And he had a mouse that could not escape.
A mouse with no name, and a mouse that was not getting a name if he had anything to do about it. It wasn't a Maurice. Maurice was probably under someone elses foot right now and Rooney wasn't going to think about that.
WAND AT THE READY. Arm steady. Foot-without-a-shoe not heavy. Three taps, and.... (Drumroll, please) "Vera Verto!" Center spotlight. Orchestra playing. All was well, and his mouse was a goblet. It intrigued him infinitely as to how it happened, but he was not to question magic in the middle of a class. Mama said that if he was inquisitive, he should be so in the library and outside of teaching hours when he couldn't deter another pupils belief in their world and the teaching happening in the castle.
...Could he put his shoe back on now?

| Sassenach | RAVENPUFF | Sing me a song of a lass that is gone | bookDRAGON | #awkwardturtle<# Beatrice had been THRILLED with the success of most of their spells. Given a spell and wand movement, and knowing the effect of said spell, the students had been able to fiddle around until they found a way to cast the spell. It was a proud moment for the Professor.
Beatrice retrieved her drum and gave it a few taps. “Okay girls and guys, just one more thing before we leave today, I want you all to pack up the things you’re working on and return them to their boxes, then return to your allocated areas.” She waited a few minutes for them to do as she had instructed.
Beatrice waved her wand at the blackboard, and a small set of instructions popped up Quote:

Inside were various things; teapots with tortoise shells, opera glasses with feathers, water goblets with tails, that sort of thing. “And my seniors, please come and collect a Merlin statue,” which were still on her desk from the following activity. “I want you to practice these incantations on your items and see what you can do with them.” She smiled brightly at them all. Questions? Concerns? Absolute and utter confusion? “If you are successful in your spell, you may practice the spell from the group above you. My seniors, if you are successful, I’d like you to try it non-verbally.” Nod. Beatrice was sure many of them would know what spells the incantations cast, but this was all in the name of assessing the students and their abilities. No disappointments in this classroom! OOC: Hi everyone! I'm loving all of the posts. This is the next bit of the class, and will be the last. Class will close Saturday at approximately 7am GMT. If you haven't finished the previous activity, then you can still continue on with it before moving on to this part if you want. Have fun with it, points won't be determined by success with your spells. Post as many times as you need but MINIMUM of 2 posts.
OOC #2: Sorry about the typo with 'Scribblifors', if your charrie was saying 'Scribbifors' just leave it and we can pretend they were saying it right. I mean, Beatrice hasn't been giving much guidance anyway lol.

Bunbury-Foster Slytherin Fifth Year | post 2 - oops I used my mouse and worm for the wrong spells :3 Professor Pink | Mrs. Bruce Wayne | I'm on a Goat | Glitterpuff | Dumbledore's Defense Squad | BHB Okay, two more spells to practice. They were learning so many in this lesson! Good thing Davie was a bright and quick learner, if not the best at following directions.
Grabbing his worm, he again set it gently on the floor to practice his spell. Vera verto, vera verto, vera verto. Easy enough to pronounce, and the wand movement was only three taps. So. Now Davie squatted down beside his worm, nice and close, and focused on a nice and fancy water goblet.
Three taps, and, "Vera verto!" Like magic, the worm turned into a cup with a distinct pinkish tint to it, almost like an earthworm. "Awww eww," Davie remarked, because no way was anyone going to want to drink out of that. He'd have to try again, maybe later, since the professor wanted them to turn in their items and practice a new spell.
He turned in his goblet and his matchbook and picked up a.... fork? Oh yeah, to turn into a quill! Cool, but hard.

| Post 1 - Scribbifors Gaga Mafia Monster : MURPHY : Kelvin's SS!BFAM : Roro's Evil Twin : Ravlyndor : Gopher Milo had had quite a bit of trouble with his mouse and the spell they had been practicing. It turned out that Transfiguration really was pretty difficult magic. He knew he would be far from perfect, only being a first year, but he had had his hopes high since he had been pretty good with Charms so far. When he heard the announcement to pack those things up and take them back to where they got them, the Claw signed a bit and said goodbye to the mouse.
Now they were off to get another item, this one not living (which would hopefully easier). He stepped forward and decided to grab a knife which looked the most like a quill to start off with. He walked back to a tabletop and laid the piece of silverware on the flat surface. Thinking really hard on the outcome of his spell, Milo pointed his wand at the knife and after a second said the incantation clearly, "Scribbifors." The knife glowed faintly but ended up staying the same.
Hmmmm. |

The young Gryffindor groaned, openly displaying his dread. How many spells was he gonna have to learn with this cruddy wand that did nothing it was told? He didn't want to keep at it; he didn't want to learn. The boy was plainly done with magic until he could find a way to get a new wand out of his parents.
With a heavy sigh, Blaise took a fork from the box and walked back to the spot his own quill and notepad had been floating. It was the only way he remembered where he was still sitting. Once again he flopped on the floor, this time giving extremly disapproving looks to his wand. "I really don't like you."

| Post 1 & Roo's escaped mouse ^_^ ~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Adi stood admiring his extreme handsomeness in the mirror. "You get more good looking everyday,'' he told his reflection and doing an EPIC hair flip. AJ was quite the lucky girl and was going to be quite the lucky woman, wasn't she? Mhmm. Yeah, she was. But... What was THAT?
Something was running up his pant leg. Completely startled, Adi looked down to see a MOUSE trying to ascend his foot. He blinked at the tiny creature. Obviously someone's mouse had made a break for it. He gently snagged the creature. "Alright. Who lost a mouse?'' He eyed the younger students. They were the ones working with those creatures, after all.
...................
Oh? They had more things to do? AWESOMEEEE!
Errr... they couldn't exactly return the conjured birds, could they? Adi pointed to his little flock and then gestured at the closest window. Out you go, guys! Go be free! Enjoy the world! Luckily, the birds seem to get what he was trying to say and they zoomed out. Maybe the other birds in the class would follow?
After watching the canaries go, Adi returned the mirror and grabbed a statue. Animating the statue... this should be fun! And as for non verbally doing this... no biggie. He totally could manage this. He used all of his spells non verbally now soooo, yeah. But Beatrice had implied they start off verbally? Surely she wouldn't mind if he just went ahead to the other way?
Adi set the statue down and began to silently practice. "Piertotum Locomotor, Piertotum Locomotor, Piertotum Locomotor... Piertotum Locomotor!'' Since this was one target he was animating, all he needed to do was point his wand. Point! Point! |

| Post 2: Lapifors Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict Practice was over, although while she’d been practicing the first spell, Brooklyn might have added the second in just to save time. Especially since the class had moved on and she still didn’t even have a bunny to show for her skills. That wasn’t acceptable. She had to prove that she knew this subject, even if her idol wasn’t there presiding over the lesson anymore. It was like keeping her spirit alive. At least, that was what she’d tell herself. Really, she just wouldn’t let anyone see her fail. It was as simple as that. Brooklyn Andrews refused to fail.
Staring at her Merlin statue intently, she raised her wand. Time to show what she could do, even if everyone else was doing other spells around her. Imagining a rabbit sitting in front of her instead of the statue, she pointed her wand at it. “Lapifors,” she said clearly, still focusing. She was practically willing a rabbit to appear. Slowly, the statue began sprouting fur, then long floppy ears. Finally, a stone-grey bunny was sitting in front of her, wiggling its little nose. Reaching out, she scooped it up and laid it in her lap, just petting it for the time being. She didn’t have to turn it into a mushroom just yet. No, she decided she didn’t.

And now they moved on to the next practice! Bye bye, mouse. Thank you for the cooperation. Ava then grabbed a knife from the box. The young lioness thought that this spell seemed not as hard as before, since knife wouldn't wiggle and escape from her watch. Right? Right....
She pointed her wand to the knife. "Scribbifors!" But nothing happened. Wait, was that scribblifors or scribbifors? She looked at the board. Oh Merlin, her incantation was wrong. Sorry. She tried again with the right incantation. "SCRIBBIFORS!" She said as she pointed her wand to the helpless knife.
And still nothing.

Aw MAN. She hadn't even made a second bunny yet. With a small huff, she returned the object to its proper box, then picked out something new. A tea kettle with a tortoise shell? Or was it a turtle shell? She'd always prefer a hare, but if this was the activity she didn't have much of a choice. Maybe the homework would involve more rabbits! With that thought in mind, she began to repeat the new spell under her breath. "Reparifarge, reparifarge, reparifarge, reparifarge."

| Post 4 - Crinus Muto ♥s her SS family l Wifey is MINE | Naughty Niffler l Whittysaur l #awkwardturtle<# Okay.
Here goes nothing.
Reaching into her bag, Paulina pulled out a small hand mirror. If she was going to change her hair, it was a good idea for her to have a good look at it. She was not going to give in and let someone else do it for her no matter how much easier it might have been; what if they made a serious mess of things?
Looking at her reflection, she tried her hardest to imagine exactly what she wanted her hair to look like: short strands of vivid orange. Once she felt confident with the image, she performed the wand movement while saying, "Crinus Muto." The change was immediate, but instead of vivid orange, her hair turned only slightly red. It shrunk to shoulder length, but stopped there.
Clearly she needed to try again. "Crinus Muto." This time she spoke clearer and with more intent. She was determined to get this right.
Smiling, she watched as her hair length receded and the colour changed to a bright orange. "Perfect." Exactly as she had imagined it. Now on to the next part of the activity! She listened carefully as Professor York explained what she wanted them to do. |

| Activity 1, post 3 Made of Awesome | Ern-la the Best-wa | TZ's Apogee So now Dot had a rabbity Merlin statue... and she was supposed to turn it into a rabbity fungus Merlin statue? You know who had an inflated sense of her students' abilities? Professor Cool Hair. You know who needed to be underestimated for a while? Dottie G.
"Finite?" Dot leaned in and whispered the incantation, but nothing happened. "Lapifors?" That seemed to do the trick, and the rabbity ears and tail disappeared (mostly). Thank Merlin undoing was easier than doing in this case, or she'd never get through this. Might as well make the best of it and try out the second spell, especially since Dot wasn't worried that a mushroom would run away from her.
Unlike a bunny.
What was that incantation again? Fungifors. Fun-gee-fors. She mouthed the incantation carefully, ever watchful of the progress of those around her.

Fourth Year | Activity 2, post 1 (query Prof York)
Sabbath’s confidence had been high when collecting the worm and mouse for the spells and he’d been quietly chuffed when he was eventually able to transfigure the worm into a matchbox, but, the mouse to goblet transfer had not been as smooth. Try as he might, his goblet had retained a full covering of white fur and had two beady red eyes and whiskers at the front. Amused but disappointed, Sabbath packed away the first attempts and, at the Professor’s direction, collected a fork.
He studied the wand movement and watched others performing the incantation. It was then he realised he’d already read about this spell in his text book only the night before - he was sure that the textbook had said “Scribblifors, not Scribbifors”. He was perplexed, which should he use? He thought he’d better ask the professor… “Excuse me Professor York, could you please tell me, is the correct incantation Scribblifors or Scribbifors. I’m a little confused? |

| Activity 1, post 3: Fungifors Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict Now that she had the bunny in her lap, it was getting harder to really want to turn it into a mushroom. Brooklyn just kept stroking her rabbit’s back, although there had been a moment when she’d needed to move her wand away so it didn’t get chewed on. At least it gave her the time to get back to practicing. She didn’t have to deal with fungi just yet. First off, and it continued keeping her wand away from the little bunny teeth, she traced out the ‘n’ shape with her wand a few times. She wanted to make sure she had gotten the movement down, of course. She might not want a mushroom, but she didn’t want to turn her rabbit into something else.
The incantation had already been practiced, so she couldn’t stall any longer. Bunny had to turn into a mushroom. She set it back down onto the floor in front of herself, eyeing it to make sure it knew not to hop away. She wasn’t going to deal with a rebel bunny. Nope. “Fungifors,” she cast, tracing out the ‘n’ shape yet again in the direction of the grey bunny. Then she just watched, waiting for it to change. Except this time it seemed like it was taking an awful lot longer. Not to the point she thought she’d failed, but somehow she ended up with a furry mushroom. And, peering closer, she realized it still had tiny bunny teeth too. Hopefully nobody had seen that.

Henric stroked his stone rabbit ears."Good rabbit...good boy.Stay that way." Okay...time to turn it into a mushroom next. He need to be successful this time round.Using his wand, he traced the 'letter N' and shouted the spell"Fungifors!"
The spell hit its mark and not long after, the rabbit slowly transform itself into a mushroom...well...half-mushroom. Henric could see the bottom half of his rabbit still shaking its fluffy bum. He couldn't help laugh at his own spellwork. It was like a mutant rabbit! Poor little guy had a mushroom for its head! Pretty neat considering he failed attempt on his first try.

Beatrice was even MORE impressed with the students now, if that were possible. Besides mice running around and first years yelling at their wand, it wasn't a bad class.
Until... "Ahh... now where did that 'L' go, I wonder," Beatrice said to Sabbath, walking over to the first and second year group.
With a wave of her wand it reappeared in the spell. She shook her head at the board. "It was probably Nargles," she sighed, addressing her youngest students. "I'm impressed, even with a bogus incantation your determination is still seeing some success on your spells," she said, looking at Milo's cutlery and giving him a thumbs up. "Scribblifors is the right spell," she confirmed with Sabbath.

This was making Rooney a little more hungry to the point where he regretted eating that bean before he was craving flavour. But the rhubarb and custard flavour would be difficult to beat. He caught wind of Adi talking about an escaped mouse and crouched behind his desk hoping that every sort of suspicion was not on him. It hadn't been him, honest!
He was just getting ready to begin his work on the fork he had picked up when Professor York spoke once more and he had to adjust all of his notes on his page.
With a change of spell, or at least a correction: Rooney switched to a knife for usage. Wand pointed directly, he chose to change his victim at the last moment and pointed to the spoon he had taken also. He actually had one of each, just to see if things went different with a change in cutlery. "Scribblifors!"
... Hello? ANything?
Why was his spoon forming a point at the end of the handle but nothing more?

| Post 2 -Scribbifors Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite "Scribbifors."
The boy may not have been determined to try his wand at magic anymore but he was determined to not simply sit there staring at his fork. It would have been nice getting it into a quill but he already had his own...that was dutifully recording his failures and didn't think he needed ANOTHER. Besides, you couldn't magick a quick quotes quill--'least not with this spell and the boy didn't fancy the other kinds. They were good for writing, sure and ensured that he got accurate information but he had to write it HIMSELF and it was never nearly as interesting.
And just like that, the boy had convinced himself this was an entirely useless spell that he also didn't need to know. If he didn't have his quill he would go back to his dorm for another. What was the big deal? "Scribbifors...Scrib-bi-fors.........Scribbifors." He repeated the words over and over like he'd been instructed to, with his wand placed next to him on the floor. Even if he wanted to try the whole thing--which he didn't--there was no instruction regarding the wand movement, not by the Professor and not on the board. Besides, she'd only said to practice the incantation on the object to see what it did. So far? Nothing. Saying the incantation without the wand did nothing. Funny how it was the same with or without a wand for him. "Scribbifors."

Soooo... no one owned the mouse? It wasn't like Adi was going to yell at them or anything because their mouse ran away. Him and yelling? Haha! What a joke. Anywho, since no one claimed the tiny creature, he set it down and watch it scamper away. "Be careful no cats eat you,'' he called after it.
................... ''Piertotum Locomotor!" Point!
HELLO?! Mr. Merlin's statue? Adi expected you to move, you know! But nope, the thing was still frozen as all inanimate objects were supposed to be. Heh. Clearly this was one of those times where he failed. And no... he was not going to switch to verbally saying the incantation. "Piertotum Locomotor!" Point! #Fail
"Piertotum Locomotor!" Point! #Fail
Hmph.
The Hufflepuff shook his wand as if it were the thing's fault. "Let's try this again. Piertotum Locomotor!'' He focused as best as he could. The statue stood as still as ev- oh hey! Nope! Wasn't that Merlin moving his hand and waving at him?
Waaaaah!

| Post 2 BOOMBAYAH! | #PuedoPorquePiensoQuePuedo | Certified Blank and Random Person | Raventastic "Scribbifors! Scribbifors! Scribbifors!!"
Ava had tried many times repeatedly but still she hadn't managed to transform the knife into a quill. Why oh why??? Come on, she did manage to transform the creatures into things and this one was transforming things into other things and it had to be easier, right???
Looking to the board, now she realized why she hadn't succesfully transformed the cutlery. "I said the incantation wrong." the young lioness murmured and smacked her head. Okaaaaaay!!!! Now she tried again with the right incantation. "Scribblifors!" She pointed her wand and.... FINALLY!!! The cute knife had turned into a quill.

| #1 Arts TRANSPONSTER! After returning the mushroom to the box, Jet walked over to the other box to get whatever it was she would be working on for the next activity.
Holding one of the teapots with a tortoise shell, she went back to her place and looked at the blackboard. By the sound of it, Jet guessed she would either end up with a tortoise or a teapot if she did the spell right. She would have to see which one it was.
Pointing her wand at the object/animal in front of her, Jet took one last look at the blackboard before trying the spell. "Reparifarge." Instead of untransfiguring whatever the thing was into its original state, Jet ended up with a teapot that seemed to have a tortoise shell pattern all around plus tail and legs that actually moved.

| Activity 2 - Post 1 Otter This World ♡ Catpurrccino ♡ Slotherin ♡ Pandamonium Oh they were moving on! Hady quickly grabbed her quill and once more took down a few notes that were appearing on the board. This would be a bit more difficult she figured taking notice to the incantation she'd be working on. She was ready though. Setting her quill and parchment aside she got up and walked to the front of the class replacing her Merlin Statue back into it's box and selecting a water goblet that appeared to have some sort of tail. It looked to be a rats tail to her.
Returning to her desk she set the item down in the center before slipping into her seat. "Reparifarge...reparifarge...reparifarge", she muttered to herself a couple of times to get the sound just right. It sounded funny to her but she was certain she was saying it correctly.
Taking holding of her wand and pointing it firmly at the goblet with a tail she clearly recited the incantation, "Reparifarge". Just one problem. It didn't work. Not at all. Hady blinked at it and lightly poked it with the tip of her wand. Change?
