Chapter Four: Introspective
Personality: Introverted Teddy likes to bury his nose in books and writing, and is often caught spending more time in his imagination than reality. He is very timid and finds comfort in routine. But he is smart and logical, and can often talk himself through his fears, not overcoming them but managing them. He loves to learn, and researches many different things in his free time. He particularly enjoys muggle mathematics, history and chemistry, and subsequently arithmancy, history of magic, care of magical creatures and potions and is looking forward to starting those subjects.
He is good, kind, and loyal. He finds it difficult at times to open up to others, especially in a group setting, but once he has made a friend, he is loyal and takes his friendship responsibility very seriously.
He loves gobstones, and enjoys watching quidditch, though he hates flying. He is a bit of a sweet tooth and LOVES chocolate frogs, and he also collects the cards. He has his large collection organised into a folder, in numerical order, and has his spares organised the same way in a box. He enjoys trading them with other people. Likes: Alone time, family, close friends, reading, writing, chocolate frogs, collecting chocolate frog cards, daydreaming, learning, gobstones, animals, watching quidditch, and building things. Dislikes: Adventures, being around too many people, when people tell him to cheer up (seriously, it’s just how he is, and he IS happy), mean people and bullies, liars, when people try to trivialize his fears, pineapple, flying, loud noises, losing things, dueling, and lots more.

Chapter Six: History
Lisabel and Alexander, in their late forties, were surprised when they discovered they were about to be parents again. Theodore and Ava were born during the summer holidays, and their Uncle Archer and older siblings Dimitri and Zhenya visited them.
Their childhood was a bit odd. They had older parents, and their siblings had estranged themselves from their parents. Teddy and Ava didn’t see them for many years. From age 5-10 the twins went to the muggle primary school their mother taught at during the day, and at nights and on weekends they were taught about their other world, mainly by their father and uncle Archer and, later, their brother. They learned about Hogwarts, wands, boggarts and patronuses, plus all of the subjects that were taught at Hogwarts. Their childhood was not lonely, though. They had each other, the kids in the neighborhood and at school. The worst thing that happened to them was watching the effect of their older siblings leaving had on their parents, particularly their father, and at times the twins felt like they had to care for themselves.
Before they got their Hogwarts letters, something amazing happened. Dimitri came back, and with him came Alana and Keenan. This was good.

Scene Three: Lux and Teddy arrive to Burton Cottage, where they research their findings, meet Teddy's family, and Lux stays for dinner. Teddy's excitement over riding in her car was both adorable and slightly surprising; Lux had never pegged him as the type to go crazy them but maybe she was wrong about that. Or maybe it was the adventures he preferred. Yes, she was going to go with that. "Sure we can. Maybe we can go to the beach some time." DID he like the beach?
Oh well. At the moment solving the mystery was more important. She giggled at his 'deep' voice because well... he didn't have a deep voice to begin with. "Sounds like a good idea, Mr. Holmes," she agreed while trying her hardest to get the voice right; it was a little hard to do this while being a girl. It was also a little hard to search for things while one hand was occupied in creating a fake mustache.
"Hmmmm, what do we have here?" she said as she moved off to one of the outer stones. There was a lot of weeds and grass so maybe something interesting was lurking over here?

Go to the beach? Teddy frowned in thought. What could he do there? "We... we could look for some rare shells," he said, deciding it might be fun. But not the water. No, there were sharks, and jellyfish, and sea lice in there. Plus people sometimes did their... business in there.
Lux's boy voice was so funny, Teddy could not suppress his delighted giggles. But he tried to fight against them to stay in character. He knew it would be an ongoing issue. Lux was just too funny as Doctor Watson.
Teddy/Holmes followed Lux/Watson to the outer stone, and peered down at it, squinting in thought. "Oh, I say, what do you have there Watson?" he asked, pulling out a pretend magnifying glass from his pocket.

Lux knew Teddy well enough to tell that he wasn't exactly enthused about the idea of going to the beach. "We don't have to if you don't want to," she assured him even though looking for rare shells sounded like it could be fun. "I would like to look for shells." And being a Hufflepuff meant that she was supposed to be a good finder. They'd have a lot of luck given their detective skills.
Seeing him try not to giggle at her impression make Lux BEAM. She was having a lot of fun though Sherlock Holmes really didn't seem to have Teddy's sense of humour. This was all in good fun though and she was happy that he was really enjoying himself now. She was too.
As he took out his imaginary magnifying glass, she used one hand to push aside the weeds. It was a bit difficult, but she needed to maintain the fake moustache to go along with her Watson persona. "Hmmm. There seems to be a lot of scratches on this stone," she stated thoughtfully in her man's voice. Would that help them any in solving the mystery.

"I..." he paused, "No, I do want to." He still didn't look very convincing, but he DID want to go. With Lux. And look for shells with her. Maybe he could find her a pretty one that she could keep, to remind her of their date to the beach. He smiled, "I want to look for rare shells too. With you," he added. Yes, he did.
"Oh right you ARE dear Watson, there are definitely some scratches there." Teddy licked his finger and held it up. He knew that's what people did to help feel the direction of the wind, but it seemed like a detective thing to do. "Scratches, hmm, yes, Watson what are your thoughts? I do believe..." he paused to look around, "I do believe somebody put them there. But why? Were they leaving a mark...?" He paused to ponder, and then noticed Lux/Watson still holding a moustache.
"Oh I know!" Teddy said, breaking character. He dug in his pocket and found a charcoal stick. It was just the nub. He'd meant to throw it away but he'd forgotten about it. "Did you want me to draw a moustache on for you?"

It had seemed as if Teddy hadn't really been keen to go, but Lux figured if that had been the case he wouldn't insist that he DID want to go. Maybe she was a key factor in the decision; she knew how at ease she made him feel and the feeling was mutual. "That would make me happy." Shells were something that she liked to collect because not only were they pretty, but they also reminded her of mermaids.
The scratches had to mean SOMETHING... What could it be? Lux rubbed her chin with her non-moustache hand as she gave the matter some thought. "Maybe it was a part of some ritual," she said after a moment. That would be pretty interesting and thinking about ancient cultures made her wonder about a lot of things. Generally it left her with so many questions but history could be quite fascinating. Maybe Teddy would have something to add on or his own theory; since he was THE Sherlock Holmes the gears in his head must be working rather quickly.
As he broke out of character, Lux was confused for a moment before she realized that he was offering to draw a moustache on her face. "Yes please." She leaned in close while thinking that this would make things a lot easier for her since using only one hand could be rather difficult.

"Oh good," Teddy said, a bit relieved. They had their... was this their third date? Well, they had their third date lined up. "Maybe we can..." his voice got a bit quieter, "Have a picnic!" He could try and make some sandwiches for them. Well, his mother would.
"Hmm a RITUAL you say, Watson? Yes... yes," he put his arm up to his chin, where he let his chin rest against his hand. He looked up towards the sky and slowly spun around, shielding his eyes when he came to face towards the sun. "I wonder... hmm... the scratches here face the east... which is where the sun rises," he observed. "I wonder if there are scratches on the other stones... if there aren't then perhaps... hmm... a ritual gone wrong?" he pondered that a moment.
Teddy couldn't stop the giggles as he drew on a moustache. It was so odd, drawing in charcoal on Lux's beautiful face. The moustache was a tiny bit wonky at the places he had started to giggle, but it looked pretty good. And it didn't make her look ugly at all, or manly. "You can look good in anything," he said with a smile, then his eyes widened as he realised what he had just said. Out loud. That was meant to be a PRIVATE thought! He put the charcoal back into his pocket, trying to distract himself as he felt his cheeks blush.

A picnic?? Lux LOVED picnics. Her eyes lit up. It would be AMAZING to have a picnic on the beach and the thought of having one with Teddy made her happy. "I would absolutely love to." She was so happy that they were becoming closer and closer as time went. They would be the very best of friends forever; she knew that already.
The ritual idea seemed to be the one that they were sticking with and it made the most sense in a way. Rituals were a big part of ancient society and it would make sense for a culture to build a monument for the very purpose. WHAT the ritual was specifically was going to be harder for them to determine. Watching Teddy curiously, she shielded her eyes from the sun as well. It was shining so brightly that it obscured her vision somewhat. "Oh, yes! It could be a sun ritual that went wrong!" Sun and moon worship were both common, right?
Gosh, he was making it so hard for her to keep from laughing; giggling was infectious! Somehow Lux managed to maintain a straight face and that was a good thing since he was drawing a mustache on her. "Thank you so much, Mr. Holmes," she said as she twisted a strand of hair around her finger. This was much better already. Her eyes widened at his comment, but it was very sweet of him. "You are too kind, Teddy." She figured that he was just trying to make her feel better about having facial hair drawn on. What a sweetheart.

Teddy couldn't NOT beam at that. Lux wanted to go on a picnic date with him! "Great!" he said, mentally brainstorming what he would need to organise. Obviously Lux would have to drive them, unless his mother dropped him off. But that wasn't what he wanted. He would need to source a picnic blanket, a picnic basket, another little container, or bucket, for their shells, and some food. It was all doable. "Would you be able to drive?" he asked, feeling a little embarrassed. If only he were a few years older, he would have been able to pick her up and drive her there himself. "I can organise the other things." Compromise?
"Well... what do we know about sun rituals?" he asked, in a mixture of asking Lux and thinking out loud. "Obviously a group of people, of some description, had met at this very place... years ago. Many many years ago. Worshipping the sun... perhaps from this very spot we are standing, worshipping the rising sun. Unless," he paced around the stone they were inspecting, "Unless someone came to have a sneak at what they were doing and was caught..." his thoughts trailed off on that direction. He was picturing it now. "A curious person in the 18th century, perhaps, or even earlier. Wanting to see what this group of people were doing... when someone came behind them, and their only reaction was to grab hold of the stone," he pointed towards it...
"My pleasure Doctor Watson," he said, trying to maintain his Sherlock persona but letting a smile crack through. He felt himself relax slightly at her reaction. She always did that, allowed him minimal embarrassment whenever he said something without wanting to. He grinned slightly "Well it's... true."

Looked like Teddy was every bit as excited for their little outing as she was. Lux was very happy to see that because he had been having a pretty bad day earlier. Going for the lunch and then Stonehenge had really helped, and so would a nice and calming time at the beach. "Of course I can drive. You know I would take you anywhere you wanted to go." So long as it wasn't during term, obviously. But he only needed to ask her and she would make time for him. "That sounds good to me! I can help if you can't find everything." She had a picnic basket but maybe Teddy wanted to do it all himself and that would be totally fine.
What DID she know about sun rituals? "I think that the Pagan and Wiccans did sun worship so maybe it could be one of them!" Right? He was the Ravenclaw here and really smart so maybe he would know. He did a lot of reading like she did! Lux's eyes widened as he went on to lay out the scene before them just like Sherlock Holmes. They were playing their parts VERY well. "So the markings were made by the person who got caught," she concluded in her role of Watson. Sounded plausible to her!
"You really think so?" she added with a smile as she slipped out of character for a moment. That was a really kind thing for him to say to her even though she didn't think that it was true. It was a really nice compliment for him to give her; he was such a good friend.

Teddy felt his chest swell with gratitude. Lux had just said she would drive him anywhere! Which meant as long as he could look up the directions, he could ALWAYS plan a surprise date. He could withhold exactly where or what they were going to, and he could direct her there. "That sounds wonderful," he said. "I..." he did a quick brainstorm, "I think I have everything I need but I'll let you know if I don't." It would be a perfect day at the beach! And then... after they had been to the beach... who knew where their travels would take them!
Pagans and Wiccans! "OF COURSE!" Lux was very smart. "Pagans or Wiccans... I wonder if the two ever teamed up for any rituals. OR..." his eyes widened, following Lux/Watson's summary. "Was it a Wiccan caught by a Pagan spying on their ritual... and then the PAGANS did something awful to the wiccan victim..." he pondered that thought. "What do you think?" he asked.
He nodded shyly. "I do," he said. Of course he did. Anyone would be blind to not agree with him! "If we had a camera we could take a photo of you here.. with a moustache! And the modelling agencies would know you can pull of even one of those." She was clearly a very talented model.

Seemed like the matter was settled then! "Wonderful. So we will have a picnic and look for rare shells and see what else happens!" Lux loved adventures and this was more in line with what she enjoyed doing lately; the acromantulas had made her a little more cautious of the unknown despite the fact that she knew they weren't exactly roaming the streets of London... Anyway, she was going to have a lot of shells to show Bay afterwards and that made her really happy.
Pagans and Wiccans seemed to be the most likely culprits though she wasn't sure who had been spying and who had been caught... If they couldn't narrow it down, that part would always remain a mystery. "Very good theory, Holmes," Lux said while keeping in character with her man's voice. She couldn't have done a better job herself. "Let's try to figure out what they did." Hopefully nothing TOO bad. That would be horrible even though it happened a VERY long time ago.
Lux giggled. "I'm not sure about that. I suppose Stonehenge could work for a photoshoot..." She struck a pose and then laughed some more. Gosh, this was fun.

Teddy was very much looking forward to going to the beach with Lux! He would have to go home and ask his mum about when he could go, and then send Lux an owl with some dates, and hope she was free. He smiled and gave a firm nod, as if sealing the deal.
"Well dear Watson, it was YOU who suggested the main part of the theory... the PAGANS and the WICCANS!" how fascinating! Teddy clasped his hands behind his back and started a slow walk around the outside of Stonehenge, looking down at the small surroundings of each stone, and trying to do an assessment, working from the top of the stone, right to the bottom.
Teddy observed her pose, and he really WISHED he had a camera. She was so good at posing on the spot! He felt his cheeks warm up a bit. "Maybe at the beach... I can bring a camera," he suggested, hopefully smoothly.

Lux was really happy that their beach trip was sorted and they had come a long way in working towards solving the mystery of Stonehenge. She was having so much fun and was really happy that they had decided to take this little trip. Clearly he was happy too!
Awww, he was sharing the victory with her. That was very sweet oh him. Teddy!Holmes was very thoughtful. "I think we both contributed equally," she said with a smile while trying not to break character. Now they would look for more clues... She joined Teddy in the search. "Find anything yet, Holmes?" His turn to find something since she was the one to find the first clue. This was only fair and he deserved the opportunity.
Why were his cheeks going slightly red? Lux decided not to question it... "Oh. To take pictures of me? Or the shells?" SHE WASN'T SURE.

"Right you are, Watson. There's no Sherlock Holmes without his partner in crime." Well... not really crime but Teddy knew it was a saying that would relate to the friendship. He bent down and ran his fingers down a groove. "What do you think this is? It... it looks like a chip was taken from the stone." He pondered that. The colours were slightly different, like the scratches. It was a bit lighter... "Do you think it could have happened at the same incident of the scratches?" he asked.
"Of you," he said quietly. "Or... you AND the shells. Like Ariel!" That would be amazing!

Partner in crime... Lux really liked that. Even though they obviously weren't criminals Lux knew what Teddy meant. It made her smile more. "Well, there is no one I'd rather solve mysteries with." That wasn't purely in character either; this was THEIR thing. Bending over, she investigated the chip in the stone that he had discovered. "I think so. Probably made by the poor spy who was caught." She shuddered involuntarily.
Lux's eyes widened as he said that. "I'd absolutely love if you would do that!" He would, right???

There was nobody she would rather solve mysteries with? Teddy felt the smile broaden on his face. He could no wipe the thing off. Even when it was back to being in character, the grin was still there. She would forever be his Watson.
He nodded in agreement with Lux/Watson, and felt like a fool for not having brought a jacket with him. Not that it would have fit her... but the shudder had him concerned. "Are you cold?" he asked her, breaking character... and then realising that it was probably to do with the suspicious mark on the stone. "I wonder if we might find a fingernail embedded in one of the rocks..." he pondered then looked up. "Shall we see if we can find one?" he asked his Dear Watson.
She was serious! Teddy nodded quickly, "Of course! I have a camera at home, it's not a very good model, but... or do you have one?" perhaps being a model she would have a good camera, but if not, Teddy would use his. Well, his fathers. But Lux didn't need to know that.

The smile was nice to see and Lux BEAMED right back at Teddy. Look them; they were the amazing Sherlock Holmes and John Watson team. She even had the mustache down and everything! If only Bay could see it because she thought that he would get a laugh out of seeing his girlfriend with charcoal facial hair. She sure would if she could see herself in the mirror!
Oh. He had seen her shiver. "A little," she admitted since she was more sensitive to coolness ever since that horrible term way back when she was in Third Year. Mostly she was shuddering at what happened to the poor spy though. "I think it's worth a look, Holmes." Though she wasn't sure how to set about doing it... Probably better to use the muggle methods. Both so that he could help her easily and because she felt a little wary using her wand out and about. What if someone came by and saw it?
Too risky.
"I have a camera but It's not one of those real professional ones." Lux mostly took pictures of her friends and family. This was the camera that she had gotten from Professor Fuller's lesson. It felt like forever and a day ago.

So she was cold. Teddy just wanted to give her something to warm her up! "Well... we can come back to my house if you want? I have some books, and a computer. We could look some things up." For their story. He ran his fingers up and down the stone, as high as he could reach. He couldn't get to the top though. "Can you see if you can reach the top?" he asked Lux/Watson. He felt a little small.
"We can just see how mine works." It got pretty good pictures. And besides, Teddy had read the manual that came with the camera, so he knew how to angle the camera to desl with the light the best.

Teddy was offering to take her back to his place and Lux really appreciated it. He was such a gentleman. "I would love that." Seemed like their work here was wrapping up and they would have more to do when they were back at the house. Since he was too short to reach the top, she was more than willing to try. Nodding, she stepped up to the stone and got up on her tip toes. It would help if she was taller or Bay was there, but as it was she managed. "I feel something, but I'm not sure what it is..." Carefully he extracted the object and looked at it. "I'm not sure what this is? Does it look like a fingernail to you?" She held it up to the light so that they could see better.
Looked like it was settled then. "Okay, so I guess we will be doing a photoshoot then." She giggled. This was exciting!

Teddy was glad that Lux had been able to stand and reach higher than he could, and just as glad that she didn't tease him about his height. Not that she would, anyway. Lux was the kindest person ever. And beautiful. The kindest and most beautiful person he had ever met. His mum was beautiful too, but she wasn't always very kind. And she was a different kind of beautiful than Lux. Lux was... spectacularly beautiful. It was a few moments until he realised that she had managed to find something, and was showing it to him.
He shook himself out of his daze and cleared his throat, getting back into character. "Oh.. well, good find Watson!" He leaned up and squinted at it. It looked like it could be a fingernail but it was quite old. "I have a microscope at home, we could have a look at it under there." As Lux was happy to go back to his house. He could finally show her his Deerstalker cap, and his book collection, and his reading nook in the loungeroom, and introduce her to his parents! And maybe his mother would let her stay for dinner! "Ava's away for camp at the moment, but my parents will let you stay for dinner, if... if you wanted to." He wasn't sure if he could keep his eyes on her. He had the urge to look away, just to prepare his face in case she couldn't stay. If she was happy to stay, he could show her his camera.

It seemed that Teddy was in a bit of a daze and Lux had no idea why. Maybe he was thinking really hard about the mysterious fingernail (if it was even that) they had found. She allowed him a moment to come back to earth before carrying on. "Thanks! We both did good because you suggested looking at the stone for more evidence." It had been teamwork. "You ready to head to your place then?" So that they could look at the object with his microscope and see for sure what it was.
And she was being invited to dinner? That was a nice surprise. "Yeah, I'd love to stay for dinner." That way she could meet his family. Why was he looking away from her though? She was a little confused by that...

Scene Three: Lux and Teddy arrive to Burton Cottage, where they research their findings, meet Teddy's family, and Lux stays for dinner.
Well, Teddy thought their outing to Stonehenge was a success! He and Lux got back into her car, and Teddy was able to give accurate directions back to Burton Cottage, where he lived. He and Lux got out of the car and Teddy walked them up to the door. He didn't need to knock, he walked right in. "This is where I live... I'll bring you through to meet my parents. I think they're both still here," he reached for her hand and led her into the kitchen, where his mother was. "Mama this is my friend Lux, can she stay for dinner?" he asked.
Lisabel turned around, looked kindly down at her son, and then up, up, up at Lux. "Are you one of Zhenechka's friends?" She asked, with a thick Russian accent. "Lux... I have heard your name before." From Teddy, and Ava. Not Zhenya. She dried her hands on a tea towel, and walked closer. "I am Lisabel," she introduced, and held out her hand. "You may of course stay for dinner." She would only need to add one extra place to the table.

It was wonderful to be at Teddy's house. Lux absolutely loved the little cottage. It was so cute. THIS was the kind of place that she wanted to live in. It reminded her of Bay's house though of course there were definitely differences. "I wish I lived in a place like this," she said as she admired the gardens. "Can I live with you?" Okay, she wasn't being serious about the request, but it WOULD be amazing to stay here.
Following Teddy to the kitchen, Lux saw his mother. "Hello, Mrs. Burton," she said in reply to the woman's greeting. She smiled. "I love your house." It was so wonderful. "I am one of Zhenya's friends. And Teddy's too." Of course. The accent was rather thick, but she could still make out what the woman was saying perfectly. Oh. Her name was familiar. "Teddy's mentioned me then? I hope it was to say good things." She laughed as she glanced at her friend. He wouldn't say anything BUT nice things about her.

Teddy looked at her. He was pleased that she liked the house he was brought up in. Of course he loved it too. It was his home, and it was where he felt the safest. But now Lux wanted to move in! "We have plenty of bedrooms, I-I'm sure you could!" he said. Was she being serious? HE WAS!
Teddy went to the refrigerator and poured two glasses of water. He handed one to Lux, and listened to them conversing.
Lisabel smiled "Thank you," she said. Yes, she was rather pleased with her house. With electricity and everything. "Please! Call me Lisa!" She was only Mrs. Burton at school. Lisabel nodded. She had thought so. Well, it would have been nice if Zhenya could have been there too but... that wasn't going to happen. She smiled warmly "Of course nice things. Only nice things I have heard about you, Lux."
She was about to tell Teddy to ask Lux about drinks, but he had already done it. She nodded and said "Well I need to finish dinner, it will be ready in an hour or so." She turned back to finish dinner.
"Do you want to come to my bedroom and we can look at the specimen?" he asked, then changed his mind. "Dear Watson, what say you and I analyse this specimen?" he was back in character!

Oh. Was Teddy being serious about the offer? Lux wasn't too sure, but she would absolutely love to live in a cottage like this. For the moment at least; one day she would be living with Bay. For the moment, however, she was still at home. There was no rush to move in together. Not with her still at school and him working on the business. Besides, her parents didn't want her living with her boyfriend yet. She was still too young for that in their eyes; she was TOO young for most things because she was their baby and always would be. "You really mean that?" Living with her friend would be amazing.
"Thanks," she added as he handed her a glass of water. She really needed it and happily took a drink. "Oh. Thanks, Lisa." It felt a little weird addressing her in that way since she was mother to two of her best friends, but Lux was happy to go along with the woman's wishes. And she WAS happy to be invited over for dinner. She smiled at Teddy as his mother said that he had only told her nice things. She knew that he would because they were very close already. She loved being really close to him and Zhenya. "Sounds good, Mr. Holmes! Lead the way." Hehehe.
