Banner thanks the amazing Matt Alrighty...this is my first time to drabble. My name is Kinzey.  It looks like fun and I so love a challenge! So, here's my drabbles for the wonderful Andromeda Black, the one that defied her family, but gained love and a family of her own in return.

The Middle Child
#35 Pureblood Andromeda was always the forgotten one of the Black sisters. The oldest is Bellatrix, the favorite of the family. She’s dark haired, like me, but there’s something dark and cynical about her. The youngest, is the beauty of the family, Narcissa, blond and lovely, but there’s something cold about her. Then, there’s Andromeda, the middle child, resembling closest to her older sister, but her features were softer and kinder. The Blacks were a pureblood family and weren’t afraid to boast about it to other wizarding families, but that didn’t interest Andromeda at all. She preferred the simple things in life. | |

It Was a Good Dream
#98 Pajamas “Wake up Andy!” shouted Andromeda’s little sister, Cissy. “It’s my first day of school and we’re not going to be late! Get out of those pajamas and get ready!”
Andromeda rolled on her side and looked at her clock, it was 6 a.m. “Are you kidding me?!” she shouted. But, Cissy was already out the door before she could yell at her.
Andromeda was having a good dream. She was imagining living in a common cottage out in the country with a strapping young man she’d never met before. Everything was perfectly amazing and peaceful, away from the wizarding world. |

A Useless Class
#2 Muggle Studies One of Andromeda’s favorite subjects was Muggle Studies. It was something simple, different. Her sisters were disgusted that she took such a meaningless class, but she didn’t care, by now she was used to their scolding.
“Miss Black, what type of transportation would a muggle use before the invention automobiles on land?” the professor asked.
“Well, perhaps they used horses or even horse drawn carriages,” Andromeda answered confidently.
“Excellent, 5 points for Slytherin,” the professor added with a nod and then he continued.
Andromeda smiled. She daydreamed of someone special taking her out in a horse-drawn carriage under the moonlight. | |

Her Favorite Cousin
#30 Feast The Christmas holidays were approaching and it was a time for all the Blacks to get together at Grimmauld Place and have a big holiday feast. Andromeda liked this time of year, especially since she was able to hang out with her favorite younger cousin, Sirius. It was a shame that by the time he attended Hogwarts, she would be leaving.
“Andromeda! I’ve missed you,” said her 8-year-old cousin as he rushed over and gave her a big hug.
“Me too, Little cousin,” said Andromeda as she gave Sirius a tight squeeze in return. “You keep growing by the day!”

#13 Quidditch “Do we really have to do this?” Bellatrix complained.
“Yeah Andy, this is such a boy thing to do,” Narcissa said as she huddled with her sisters.
They were playing a three on three game of Quidditch against their cousins Regulus and Sirius, and Bellatrix’s fiancé Rodolphus Lestrange.
“Oh, come on, it will be really fun, plus two of them aren’t even attending school yet, they can’t be that good,” Andromeda intervened. “Plus, with Bella getting married it will be the last time the Black sisters can really have some kick butt time as single ladies.”
“You’re ridiculus,” Bellatrix said.

#36 Muggle Narcissa was spending her summer with her new boyfriend Lucius Malfoy, while Bellatrix, now “happily” married to Rodolphus. Andromeda found it stupid to be self consumed with boys. She decided to spend the summer before her seventh year shopping.
“Ouch!” Andromeda shouted as a muggle ran into her as she turned the corner.
“Oh, I’m such a klutz, I would like to say this wasn’t the first time,” the muggle said as he smiled at Andromeda. She couldn’t help, but smile back. “Well, it’s the first time I’ve bumped into someone so very beautiful. I’m Ted Tonks, by the way.”

Andromeda, A Healer?
#1 Herbology Andromeda went to Herbology early morning to check to see how her Mandrake was doing. She felt bad that they would be chopped up into little bits for Potions class later on in the year.
“Ah, Miss Black,” said the Herbology professor as Andromeda entered the greenhouse.
“Good morning, Professor,” Andromeda said cheerfully. “I just came to see how my mandrake was doing.”
“Oh, Miss Black, you’re so kind, I’ve never seen a student so compassionate about things that are usually overlooked. I could see you being a healer Miss Black, you think about looking into it.”
“Thank you Professor.”

Keeping Up An Image
#49 Yule Ball It was Andromeda’s seventh year and she didn’t have a date for the Yule Ball, but decided to go anyways wearing a light green dress. Andromeda wished she could have invited Ted, they had been writing one another since last summer secretly. Her parents would scold her for talking with a muggle.
“Can I have this dance?” said a familiar voice. It was Rebastan, her brother-in-law’s younger brother, whom Andromeda loathed.

#9 Defense Against the Dark Arts Andromeda’s first class as a first year was Defense Against the Dark Arts. Bellatrix bragged to her before class, “I wished they taught some of those Unforgivable Curses,” Bella complained. “I mean that Crucio Curse looks really fun!”
Andromeda shrugged off her sisters disturbing words.
“Today, we’ll start with one of the most important spells you’ll ever learn,” the old professor announced when she arrived in class. “We’re practicing ‘Expelliarmus’, so practice saying it then pair up in partners and practice using the spell.”
“Expelliarmus!” she shouted and knocked her partner’s wand out of their hand on the first try.

Really Bad Eggs
#69 Slap “Hey there pretty lady,” chanted Rebastan in his disgusting, demeaning tone.
“Reb, how many times do I have to tell you…I’m. Not. Interested,” Andromeda said firmly. “Not all the Blacks have a thing for Lestranges.”
Rebastan moved in closer, cornering her so she couldn’t go anywhere. Andromeda tried to squeeze by, but he wouldn’t allow it.
“Will you move, please? I have some studying to do.”
“Why don’t you make me?” he said towering over her, his breath smelling of eggs.
Andromeda started to reach for her wand, but he then kissed her. SLAP! Andromeda took the opportunity to escape. | |

#10 Arithmancy Andromeda went to the library to study for Arithmancy. It wasn’t her favorite subject and she wasn’t very good at it, but her friend Danica Brown to come join her. But, while she was waiting she took this opportunity to write Ted. She smiled as she wrote each word on the parchment.
“Oh, I know that look,” said Danica as she sat down next to Andromeda, “You are in love.”

#24 House Elf Andromeda was eating a bowl of cereal one morning at home when she heard a large CRACK! She almost fell out of her seat as a House Elf stood one foot in her cereal bowl and the other on the table.
“Oh, Dobby is sorry Miss,” the little young elf said frantically as he picked up the spoon and began hitting his head with it.

#88 Sweet Tooth Andromeda made a big effort to get away from the holiday festivities. Sirius promised to distract the family snuck off to a coffee shop in London.

#6 Divination With a strong smell of incense, Andromeda entered the Divination classroom. She took a seat on a large purple cushion.
“I wonder what we’ll be learning today,” Andromeda whispered to her friends.
“Well if you had the inner eye, you’d know we’re studying Anthropomancy,” said the professor wearing purple robes and what looked like a large bishop’s hat.
A few of students made a face. “Now look into the bowls in front of you and write down what you see.”

“I’m concerned about you, and how your family is treating you.”
Andromeda had no idea how Dumbledore could possibly know what was going on at home.

#60 Joke Andromeda was having a harder and harder time sneaking out. Bellatrix finally caught on that Andromeda was meeting Ted and said, “You break it off now, or I am telling to entire family and you know what will happen to you.”
Andromeda went to meet him for the last time. “Ted I can’t see you anymore.”
“What are you talking about?” Ted asked.
“My family won’t allow me to fraternize with a muggle…I mean a boy!” Andromeda explained.
“Muggles? What’s that?”
“There’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you,” Andromeda said. “I’m a witch.”
“Is this some sort of joke?!”

Exceeds Expectations
#12 Charms Andromeda was almost finished with school. All the Slytherins were giving her hell and Narcissa was no help. It was pretty much decided that she wouldn’t be returning home, her family disowned her. Actually, if it weren’t for Dumbledore then she wouldn’t have a place to stay at all.
“Miss Black, are you even focusing?” the Charms professor asked.
Andromeda didn’t realize that her goblet was overflowing with water. She needed to focus if she wanted to get an "Exceeds Expectations" on her N.E.W.T. for Charms. Andromeda decided that she wanted to be a Healer and needed top notch grades.

The Last Exam Ever
#4 Ancient Runes Andromeda was taking her last exam for ever at Hogwarts for N.E.W.T. s.
“Okay, last question,” Andromeda thought. She took in a deep breath.
What ancient rune represents the number nine, Andromeda read. She began to write, Number nine is represented by the Hydra because it has nine heads. The Hydra was an ancient nameless serpent-like chthonic water beast and is commonly seen in Greek poetry and stories. For example, one of the 12 Labors the hero Heracles performed was killing the Hydra of Lerna.
Andromeda looked over her questions and was very satisfied with her answers. She was finished. | |

A Healer Indeed
#8 Potions Andromeda began her first day at St. Mungo’s immediately after she left Hogwarts. She was nervous her first day. She was with a bunch of new Healers as well and went on rounds answering questions about patients.
“Now, this person has high anxiety that caused him to accidently set himself on fire,” the lead Healer said. “Recommendations?”
“A calming drought with an extra dose of chamomile should do the trick for the nerves,” Andromeda answered nervously. “As for the burns, a cold compress dipped in Witch Hazel, lavender oil and aloe, should help.”
“Well I’m glad someone knows their potions!”

“I thought you’d want to know more about the lives of muggles, that includes driving,” he said cheekily.
Andromeda’s frown turned into a wide smile. “Oh Ted, I guess.” Andromeda started slowly once more.

#27 Owl Andromeda had one final act against her family. She decided to write them a letter one last time:
“Dearest family,” she wrote, “You will all be delighted to know that I am happily engaged to Ted Tonks. You might remember him as a muggle and the man I love. We will be married this spring, though I would be delighted for you to come, I doubt you could find it in your heart to forgive me as I have forgiven you despite your cruelty. Sincerely, Andromeda Black.”
Andromeda attached the letter to the owl and sent it on its way.
