Hello Emily. I'm having a problem sorting things out here. It doesn't help that I asked for a new thinking cap for Christmas, and sense there was no thinking cap under the tree for me, I just have to make due with the old worn out one I've been using. Sense Sophie is working one angle, I'll work another. Maybe it is a jealous cousin. Surely Rose wouldn't stoop to such despicable levels to get Scorpius. Nah never mind that theory. Out the door with it. Ummm I'm thinking that it is a female that wrote the letter to Scorpius, because most boys handwriting is atrocious, and usually girls have pretty neat handwriting by that age. Emily, I'm just going to wait for the next post. I'll be trying to mend my aged thinking cap between now and the next post. Great one Emily. I'll be watching for your next.

Alrighty, Detective Soph, we are about to find everything out.



All throughout September, October, and November, Ruthie avoided Scorpius. They mainly kept to themselves, but Scorpius did seem to attract some unwanted company. Viola Zabini. Daughter of Blaise Zabini and Pansy Parkinson. She had always made nasty comments to Ruthie in the past, but Ruthie would just ignore her, as would Scorpius. But now, it seemed to be getting harder and harder to avoid. Ruthie had her suspicions that she was Scorpius’s new girlfriend, and her suspicions turned correct on that December day.

Ruthie walked along the path towards the lake with her Transfiguration book in hand. As she turned the corner, she noticed a blonde male sitting under her parents’ tree. She did a double take before edging forward. After about a second of what she saw, she wished she had just left; the sight made her want to vomit. Viola was all over Scorpius, kissing him with her hands all over him. Without waiting to see what more they would do, Ruthie ran back up the path, regardless of a person shouting her name from behind her.

Breathing heavily, she collapsed on her bed. She didn’t bother crying. She had enough with crying over Scorpius Malfoy. If he wanted to play this game, then she was in. At the moment that she was about to head back down, there was a peck at the window. She glanced over and saw a familiar owl with a letter in its beak. She took the letter from him and he went on his way. She hesitantly opened the letter.

Did you like the show? I enjoyed it very much, thank you. I thought I warned you. Stay away from Scorpius. When you see him in the courtyard or by the lake, look and walk the other way. He doesn’t want you stalking him or anywhere near him for that matter. He finds it quite pathetic, as do I. So just get over him and we’ll all be happier.

Ruthie glared at the letter as if it were actually Viola in person. She scrunched it up and threw it into the trash bin. She glanced in the mirror, looking at her shorts and T-shirt. She narrowed her eyes in speculation. Two could play this game.

She heard many gasps around the courtyard as she made her entrance. She smiled inwardly, but kept her poker face. They were all staring at her, which is something she wanted. She noticed Scorpius and Viola in the corner with a small group of other Slytherins. Scorpius was staring open mouthed at her and Viola was sending her death glares.

Ruthie was wearing a deep black strapless dress that came just short of her knees. Its layers of lace and ruffles under the full skirt made it poof out slightly, emphasizing her fit legs. The sweetheart neckline allowed for perfection of her bust. Her silky black hair was showered down her back in soft waves as it blew out behind her.

She made her way over to an empty bench with her book and started to pretend to read. She was dancing on the inside at her success of what this little outfit had done. Within seconds, she had company, male company.

“Hey, Ruthie, I wanted to talk to you about practicing for Quidditch. We have a game coming up, and I was thinking I could use someone to practice with… What do you say?” Nelson Longbottom asked. He was one of the cutest guys in school with his curly brown hair and few freckles. He was buff too, more buff than Scorpius even. Ruthie grinned.

“I’d love to practice with you,” she said loudly with a wink. Nelson grinned back at her, relaxing in his seat.

“Oh please! He doesn’t want to practice with you! He just wants in your pants!” Scorpius yelled at her, his face growing red. He had jumped up and stormed over to Ruthie’s bench. Everyone was watching with wide eyes.

“I’m wearing a dress, Malfoy,” Ruthie said evenly, her eyes still on Nelson.

“I don’t care what you’re bloody wearing! You know what I meant! He only wants sex from you, Ruthie!” Scorpius shouted at her.

“Why would you care what his intentions are, Malfoy?” Ruthie replied calmly.

“Why would I—Are you kidding? Just because you stopped loving me doesn’t mean I stopped loving you!” he yelled at her. His hands were balled into fists and his eyes were furious.

“I didn’t stop loving you, you idiot!” Ruthie yelled back, completely forgetting to keep her cool. She jumped up, her dress twisting around her. “You’re the one who cheated on me!” she screamed.

“I didn’t—I’d never—What are you talking about?” Scorpius whispered as he did a double take. Ruthie crossed her arms over her chest and glared at him.

“Don’t even deny it! She sent me your bracelet. She could have only gotten it from you. And I saw you two by the lake earlier!” Ruthie said angrily.

“Wait! What? Are you talking about Viola when she attacked me at the lake? I’m not dating her, nor would I ever wish to!” Scorpius said defensively. “And I have no idea how she got my bracelet, but I never gave it to her. I lost it at the end of last term, but didn’t want to tell you.”

Ruthie looked down at her feet and shuffled them. “How am I supposed to believe you?” she whispered.

“Because I’d never hurt you,” he said softly as he took a step forward and ran his hands through her hair.

“Scorpius! Get away from her!” Viola screeched, running up to them. Scorpius rolled his eyes while Ruthie narrowed hers.

“Go away, Viola. Nobody wants you here,” Scorpius said in irritation.

“Can’t you see we’re busy?” Ruthie asked sarcastically. Scorpius smirked slightly as Viola did the Bridezilla screeching and huffing. Ruthie just laughed, lacing her hands around his middle.

Scorpius smiled as his hands tightened in her hair. She stepped on her tiptoes as his lips inched closer to hers. And then they were home. His lips were on hers and every bit of their skin was tingling. Her hands slid up his body, through his hair, and knotted around his neck.

“So, we have a lot of lost time to make up for,” Ruthie whispered against Scorpius’s chest. They were propped back against the very tree where they had first told each other how they felt about the other. It was raining out, but that didn’t faze them. They had a thick blanket wrapped around them and a magically summoned fire in a jar in front of them.

“What did you have in mind?” Scorpius murmured. Ruthie twisted in his arms and smirked at his disheveled, damp blonde hair. Droplets of water were trickling down the side of his face and onto his shirt.

“I’m up for suggestions,” Ruthie whispered as she traced the line of his lips with her fingertips.

“I’m sorry…” he whispered.

“For what?” she asked as her eyebrows knitted together.

“For ever believing that letter,” he whispered. Her eyes dropped down to their intertwined fingers.

“I’m sorry for ever believing you’d cheat on me,” she whispered, barely audible. He leaned his head against hers and she hesitantly lifted her eyes.

“It didn’t help that she was all over me and never leaving me alone,” he consoled. Ruthie nodded slowly as a salty tear leaked out of the corner of her eye. He wiped it away with a kiss, his lips lingering a moment too long on her upper cheek. As she leaned forwards slightly, Scorpius caught her lips with his, her fingers tracing along his jaw and eventually delving into his wet, sleek hair.

They broke apart minutes later, both breathing heavily. Ruthie rested her head on his chest as his arms tightened around her body.

“What do you think she’ll do now?” Ruthie whispered.

“I don’t care,” he said evenly. “All that matters is that we don’t let her come between us again,” he whispered as he kissed her hair. Ruthie nodded vaguely, still thinking of what all Viola could do to them.

“So…” Scorpius whispered after a while.

“What?” Ruthie asked, confused.

“What exactly were you thinking when you put on this outfit?” he whispered seductively in her ear. She smirked, glad that the dress had done what it was supposed to.

“I was thinking about making you jealous and making you regret cheating on me,” Ruthie said evenly.

“Well, it completely worked,” he chuckled as he kissed her neck.

“Good, I’m glad,” Ruthie said happily.

“Do you have any idea how amazing you look right now? And the wet hair—” he said, shaking his head. Even though she was wearing Scorpius’ jacket over her dress, the bottom was still sticking out under the blanket.

“It was all for you,” she giggled.

“Are you sure it wasn’t for Nelson?” Scorpius asked bitterly. Ruthie suppressed a giggle as she twisted to see his face. He was scowling prominently.

“It was most definitely for Nelson… I just thought you’d rather hear it was for you,” Ruthie said evenly. Scorpius glared at her and she started laughing, touching his scowling lips.

“It’s always for you,” Ruthie whispered. Scorpius smirked slightly before kissing her again.

“Good to know,” he murmured against her skin.

Hello Emily. Ah, the power of a scorned woman. Or even a young one as in this case. I just wish they had been able to bring themselves to talk to one another instead of hurt and anger ruling their hearts. I guess when they learn from this and get more mature they'll have a better understanding of love and trust. It is quite painful to grow up at times.

New post time? Okay, so warning: This story progresses rather quickly and it skips forward quite a bit. In this one, it starts at the beginning of their seventh year and then jumps to Christmas time. Just so you know


The rest of term and the summer holidays passed by slowly, the former quite amazing, the latter quite boring. Summer holiday was their least favorite part of the year because they couldn’t spend it together, but they weren’t really sure how to tell their parents.

“Ruthie!” Scorpius yelled in relief as she ran down the corridor of the train towards him. He held his arms out at the right moment for her to jump enthusiastically into them. He kissed her hair and her neck before she pulled back to look at him.

“I’ve missed you,” she sighed.

“I’ve missed you too,” he whispered.

“Are you excited about our last year?” she said excitedly as he towed her to the compartment he already had.

“I’m excited to be back here with you,” he said as he pulled her down onto the bench beside him.

“I know. Summer holiday is always the worst… We’re going to have to tell them at some point. I just don’t know how,” she whispered.

“I know what you mean—I have no idea how I’m going to tell my Dad about you.” Scorpius sighed as Ruthie snuggled up into his side.

“Scorp!” Albus exclaimed as he made his way into the compartment, Rose, Hugo, Lily, Remus, and Fred right behind him.

“Hey, guys! Did you have a good summer?” Scorpius asked quietly with a smile.

“Yeah, it was fun! James and Les finally got together,” Albus replied in a chipper tone.

“Yeah, that’s what Ruthie told me in her letters,” Scorpius said. Ruthie twisted in his arms and kissed his neck lightly. Albus and Hugo made gagging noises while Rose and Lily hit their arms.

“We’ll leave you two alone,” Lily giggled, pushing the boys out of the compartment. Ruthie and Scorpius waved at them as Rose closed the compartment door behind her. Ruthie got up and pulled down the shade, locking the door.

“Alone at last,” she said happily.

“Because we were in company for so long,” he joked. She laughed quietly as she sat on his lap, her legs on either side of his waist.

“You know what I mean,” she whispered.

“Yeah, I do,” he whispered back as his hand twisted in her hair. His lips finally caressed hers, causing electricity to bolt through both of them. Ruthie’s mouth felt on fire as he kissed her. She sighed in content as her hand knitted into his hair.

After a fifteen minute Snog session, Ruthie and Scorpius settled down into lying in each other’s arms. Ruthie’s head rested on Scorpius’s chest as she listened to his heart beating. Scorpius would occasionally kiss the top of her hair while tracing the veins on her wrist and arm.

“I love you,” Scorpius murmured.

“As I love you,” Ruthie whispered back.

“Ruthie, have you thought about us?” Scorpius asked quietly. Ruthie was curled up into Scorpius’s side underneath the tree by the lake. White flakes covered the ground and piled up in their hair. A thick blanket was burritoed around the both of them to keep them warm.

“What do you mean? I think about us daily,” Ruthie replied in confusion.

“I mean our future together…” Scorpius said slowly.

“Yes… I do think about it… All the time actually,” Ruthie admitted quietly.

“Am I in it?” Scorpius whispered.

Ruthie twisted in his arms to see his face. He hesitantly met her eyes. “Yes, of course you are,” she replied gently.

“Ruthie, you’re the only one I’ve ever loved and will ever love. I want you for the rest of my life and beyond. Marry me, Ruthie? Make me the happiest man in the world,” Scorpius whispered, taking her face in between his hands. He wiped the tear from her cheek with a kiss.

“Yes,” she said simply. Scorpius grinned at her, taking back one of his hands to pull something from his pocket. It was an engagement ring. Ruthie gasped at the beauty of it.

“It’s so beautiful, Scorp,” Ruthie whispered.

“The only kind for you,” he said softly as he placed the ring on her left ring finger.

“Scorpius,” Ruthie whispered before she kissed him softly. Their kisses started out the same as all the others, slow and tender. Then, Scorpius clutched her closer to him, desire taking over every part of his body. The kisses turned fiery, passionate. After long, Ruthie had to pull back to breathe. She breathed heavily as Scorpius kissed her neck and the length of her jaw. “I love you so much,” she whispered.

“As I love you, my love,” he whispered against her skin.

“You know what this means, right?” she asked quietly. He pulled back to look at her with his eyebrows raised. “We have to tell our parents that we’ve been dating,” she said with a small chuckle.

“Mmmm, I can see the conversation now… Mum, Dad, I’ve been dating Ruthie Weasley for the past three years… Oh, and we’re engaged,” he laughed. Ruthie laughed with him until they both realized what they were saying.

“We have to tell our parents,” they whispered together in horror. Ruthie sat back against the trunk, untangling herself from Scorpius’s body.

“When-when do you want to break the news to them?” Scorpius asked after five minutes of silence.

“Er, I don’t know… What about Christmas holidays? They’re a week away…” Ruthie whispered.

“Sounds like a plan,” Scorpius whispered back. He took Ruthie’s hand gently and brought it to his lips. “Everything will be okay,” he whispered.

Ruthie looked over at him, a smile playing around her lips. “I know it will,” she whispered. “So, maybe we should tell them we’re dating separately and then give them the big news together… We always go to Grandma Molly’s on Christmas, but we have a Christmas Eve dinner at our house with the family. Would you and your family be able to come?”

“Yeah, that’s perfect because we don’t do anything for Christmas Eve,” Scorpius said with a smile. “How do you think they’ll take it?” Scorpius asked quietly.

“I, er, don’t know if it will be good, at least not from my dad… My mum will probably take it better,” she said thoughtfully. Scorpius just nodded, thinking of his father.

“However they take it, just remember that I will always want you, even if our parents don’t approve,” Scorpius said firmly.

Ruthie twisted in his arms and looked at him. “Do you mean it, Scorp? I mean if our parents didn’t approve, would you still want to?” Ruthie asked, blushing slightly.

“Yes, I will always want you and only you.” Scorpius kissed her cheek as she leaned her head against his chest.

“Me too,” she whispered.

Hello Emily. Very nice. I was wondering when we was going to get to the preview you gave us for this. I think now I know when? I love how you progressed the story forward. I know it is scary going that because it is easy to overlook something or alienate one or more of your characters. But, you did it beautifully. Of course I wouldn't expect anything else from you, because you are very talented.
I can't wait to see the reactions of everyone when the kids tell them. I'm most anxious to see how the Malfoys get invited to the Weasley's home on Christmas Eve.
