Hello Emily. Another great post. How cute is that? I tend to agree with Sophie here. Something is in the air. It's almost enough to taste, and it isn't palatable. Only I don't think it's Draco's fault. I think he might be in danger. I wonder if Emily could ask Alicia if she's had any thought's on this for us. The suspense is getting intense. I bet Emily wasn't the only one stifling a laugh. I was too!

Alicia climbed the rickety staircase with her hand in Jamie’s.

“You know, stitches do work- on Muggle wounds, anyway…” She said as they reached the second floor. She laughed as a portrait of a Healer followed Ron up two floors.

“What floor’s this?” He snapped as Harry, Ginny and Hermione tried to keep straight faces. Emily was laughing silently behind him.

“I think it’s the fifth” Hermione said and Harry shook his head.

“Na, it’s the fourth… Come on, one more-” Harry stopped mid sentence, staring at the window that led to a corridor.

“Oh my- Professor Lockhart!” Hermione said breathlessly, her hand covering her mouth. Alicia spun round and gasped. Their ex- Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher was staring at them, beaming widely.

“Blimey!” Jamie said quietly as the man shuffled out into the corridor, still beaming at them. Alicia was staring, open mouthed, as she glanced at Emily, who was watching the ex- professor carefully.

“Why, hello there!” He said, sounding exactly the same as he did three years ago. “I expect you’d like my autograph, would you?”

“Hasn’t changed much, has he?” Draco whispered to Alicia as her hair darkened.

“Unfortunately, he’s getting his memory back” She swapped a look with Harry as Ron spoke to him.

“Erm, how- how are you, Professor?” He sounded guilty as he spoke. Emily smiled at Draco’s frown.

“In second year, Ron’s wand backfired, making him loose his memory… I don’t know why Ron and Jamie are feeling guilty- Lockhart was trying to wipe their memories at the time…” She whispered as they watched the man.

“Professor, should you be wandering the corridors? Shouldn’t you be in a ward?” Alicia asked as she stepped forwards. His smile vanished and he stared at her and Harry for a moment.

“Have we met before?” He asked and they all swapped looks.

“Er, yeah we have- you used to teach us at Hogwarts, remember?” Harry said as a woman appeared from the down the corridor behind them.

Ten minutes later, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Alicia, Jamie, Draco and Emily found themselves standing round Lockhart as he signed photos of himself while sitting in his ward. Alicia was watching the Healer hand out presents while Emily was watching the pictures of Lockhart that hung round his bed. Some of them were pointing at the eight of them and whispering behind their hands.

“Look, Broderick, you’ve been sent a pot plant and a calendar of fancy Hippogriff’s… And- oh, Mrs Longbottom, are you leaving already?” At the Healer’s words, Alicia’s eyes turned yellow and her hair green while the others spun round to watch as Neville and his grandmother appeared from behind the curtains at the end of the ward.

“Neville!” Ron called and Neville jumped. Alicia glared at him but he ignored her. “It’s us, Neville!” He said brightly as Neville tried to hide. “Have you seen- ? Lockhart’s here! Who have you been visiting?”

“Friends of yours, dear?” Neville’s grandmother said, peering down at them. “Ah yes,” She said, laying her eyes on Harry. “Yes, yes, I know who you are- Neville speaks most highly of you” Harry shook her hand, looking totally bemused. “And you two are clearly Weasley’s- yes, I know your parents- not well, of course- but fine people, fine people… And you must be Hermione Granger- Neville’s told me all about you- helped him out of a few sticky spots… You must be Alicia Daniels,” The old woman said, eyeing Alicia’s mint green curls. “Yes, I know all about you… So this must be Jamie Starlight? Yes, I can see your mother in you… And this is Emily Black- yes, Neville has told me about you… And- ?” She held out a hand for Draco, who stared at it.

“This is Draco Malfoy” Emily said, nudging him forwards slightly.

“Hmm… Yes, Neville has told me about you- had a change of attitude since you’ve been dating Miss Black, I believe” The woman nodded to herself before looking down at Neville. “He’s a good boy, but he hasn’t got his father’s talent, I’m afraid to say” And she gestured towards the beds they had just walked away from.

“What?” Jamie said, ignoring the murderous glare Alicia was giving him. “Is that your dad down there, Neville?”

“What’s this? Haven’t you told your friends about your parents, Neville?” The woman said sharply, turning to look at a very red Neville, who shook his head. “Well, there’s nothing to be ashamed of!” She said, suddenly angry. “You should be proud, Neville, proud! They didn’t give their health and sanity so their only son would be ashamed of them, you know!”

“I’m not ashamed” Neville said faintly, refusing to look at them.

“Well, you’ve got a funny way of showing it!” His grandmother snapped before turning to look at them. Alicia’s hair was slowly turning paler, making her look ill. “My son and his wife were tortured into insanity by You- Know- Who’s followers”

Hermione, Ginny and Emily gasped, covering their mouths. Ron stopped trying to catch a glimpse of them and looked mortified, so did Jamie. Draco was shifting uncomfortably, as did Harry. Alicia stared at Neville, her hair staying a sickly green. They stayed quiet until the Longbottom’s had left and Neville’s mother had shuffled back to her bed.

“I never knew” Hermione said tearfully.

“Nor did I…” Emily and Ginny said together, one of them sounding horror- struck.

“Nor me” Ron and Jamie said hoarsely.

“I did…” Alicia, Draco and Harry said as one before turning to stare at each other.

“Dumbledore told me about it last year but I promised not to tell anyone…” Harry said quietly, turning to look at Alicia.

“Neville was thinking about it when he boarded the train for the first time in first year… I haven’t had the heart to tell him I knew” They all turned to look at Draco.

“That’s why my aunt, Bellatrix Lestrange, got sent to Azkaban for, using the Cruciatus Curse on Neville’s parents until they lost their minds… It was just after You- Know- Who vanished, apparently” He muttered, refusing to look at any of them.

“Well… It’s a good thing that you’ve disowned them, then…” Alicia said quietly as Hermione looked horrified.

“Bellatrix Lestrange? That woman Kreature’s got a picture of in his den?” Hermione whispered and Draco nodded. They fell silent for a while before:

“Look, I didn’t learn joined- up writing for nothing, you know!” Lockhart said angrily.

“Oh, shut up…” Alicia snapped, leading the group out of the ward.

Hello Abi. I thought this was delightful, and yet at the same time serious. It made me wonder when Alisha said he was getting his memory back, if when he does he'll be charged for the fraud he was discovered of, and the of the memory modifications he did. I like that you included this in the story. I wonder if Molly will ever be open minded enough to believe that. Poor Ron. His speaking before thinking causes him so many problems. I s'pose he'll learn one day. But, clearly, he is innocent of any cruel thoughts as to why Neville was there. I felt badly for Draco here. It must be awful to continually see the devistaion and distruction his family and friends caused.

On the last day of holiday, Alicia, Emily, Draco, and Jamie all lounged around the upstairs bedroom where Buckbeak was. Emily found it comical that Draco would go nowhere remotely near Buckbeak. He leaned up against the farthest wall from them and Emily took the time to smirk at him occasionally. Alicia and Jamie would also chuckle when every time Emily would pet Buckbeak’s feathers, Draco would flinch.

“You know, maybe if you’d just bow,” Emily repeated for the umpteenth time. Jamie rolled his eyes at her as Draco sighed.

“Just like the last thousand times I’ve told you, I’m not going anywhere near that bloody chicken,” Draco muttered. Emily tried to hide her smile as she turned back to Buckbeak. She decided to lay against his side, resting her head on top of his wing. Draco was now glaring at her.

“What?” she asked innocently. He narrowed his eyes and she fought back a grin.

“You know what. And you know being near that thing makes me uncomfortable…”

“Is that why you’re over there? Far away from us?” Emily asked sarcastically. Jamie started laughing quietly as Alicia smiled.

“Not funny. Why can’t you just sit over here? Where we can admire…it from a distance?” Draco asked seriously.

“Because I like Buckbeak and you’re the chicken,” she said in a matter of fact tone. Draco rolled his eyes, refusing to move any closer to them.

After a little while, Emily claimed that she was thirsty, so she and Alicia left for the kitchen. They heard shouting and quickened their pace.

The busted through the door to find Harry shouting at Sirius, Sirius basically shoving his wand down Snape’s throat, and Snape, looking calm as he, too, had his wand pointed at Sirius. Emily gasped as she hurried to Harry’s side.

“I’ve warned you, Snivellus, I don’t care if Dumbledore thinks you’ve reformed, I know better—” Sirius was saying.

“Oh, but why don’t you tell him so?” Snape interrupted. “Or are you afraid he might not take the advice of a man who has been hiding inside his mother’s house for six months seriously?” Snape whispered. Emily’s jaw hardened.

“Tell me, how is Lucius Malfoy these days? I expect he’s delighted his lapdog’s working at Hogwarts, isn’t he?”

“Speaking of dogs, did you know that Lucius Malfoy recognized you last time you risked a little jaunt outside? Clever idea, Black, getting yourself seen on a safe station platform…gave you a cast-iron excuse not to leave your hidey-hole in future, didn’t it?” Snape whispered, his eyes glistening. Sirius raised his wand slightly and Emily leaped forward.

“No!” Harry yelled, trying to get in between them.

“Dad! Don’t,” Emily begged as she tried to pull his wand arm down. “It’s not worth it!”

“Are you calling me a coward?” Sirius roared. Emily flinched at the edge in his tone. Sirius tried to push Harry out of the way, but Harry wouldn’t budge.

“Why, yes, I suppose I am,” Snape said.

“Harry—get—out—of—it!” Sirius snarled as he pushed Harry out of the way. “Emily! Argh! Get off me!” he said murderously. He shoved her back too and her footing caught. She fell on top of Alicia, who was right behind her, also trying to get Sirius to stop.

The kitchen door suddenly opened and all of the Weasleys and Hermione, Jamie, and Draco came into the kitchen.

“Cured!” Mr. Weasley announced. “Completely cured!” he said brightly. And then he froze, as did the others. Jamie and Draco were staring between Sirius, Snape, and Harry to Emily and Alicia, who were still on the floor.

“Merlin’s beard, what’s going on here?” Mr. Weasley said as his smile dropped into a frown. Sirius and Snape lowered their wands and, after stowing his wand in his robes, Snape left Grimmauld Place.

“But what’s been going on?” Mr. Weasley asked again.

“Nothing, Arthur,” Sirius said. “Just a friendly chat between two old school friends…”

Emily huffed as Draco and Jamie helped her and Alicia up from the floor. She glared at her father, who was now talking to Arthur about him being cured.

“Why can’t you grow up?” she shouted at him, her hands balled into fists. Everyone went silent as Sirius spun around, his eyes going large.

“What?” he asked in surprise.

“It’s so stupid! You’re an adult! Why can’t you get over these stupid, idiotic school boy fights? Why can’t you act your age, not your shoe size?” she snarled. Sirius’ face flushed red as she started to walk past him, Draco, Jamie, and Alicia following after her.

“Act my age or act like Remus?” Sirius finally shouted.

Emily rounded on him, surprise clear in her features. “I never said that!” she said loudly.

“But you meant it?” he countered. "You think I don't see the way you look at him and not me? You think I don't notice how you trust him with every part of you, but you hardly ever talk to me? You think I can't see that you love him more than you love your own flesh and blood?" Sirius whispered. Emily was already shaking her head.

“No, I didn’t! I don't! Stop trying to turn my words around! I love you the same!” Emily shouted, but he just ignored it.

“You may not like it, but I am your father, Emily, and you will not speak to me that way again.” Sirius glared at her and she looked back in confusion.

“I never said I didn’t like—” Emily began as tears welled up in her eyes.

“You’re grounded. Go to your room,” he said loudly, talking over her. Emily stared at him with her jaw hanging open.

“Emily, don’t,” Alicia warned, stepping forward.

“I hate you,” Emily whispered to Sirius before she ran up the stairs, awakening her grandmother.

Hello Emily. Oh my goodness! You shocked me with this post. I LOVE how you wrote Draco and the whole Buckbeak scene! I think it's good he didn't try to pet him. I don't think Buckbeak would've excepted him. I so wish Emily hadn't lost her temper with Sirius. And he was out of line also. But, how will this effect Emily and Harry's relationship?

wow! I can't believe she said that! But i do see where she's coming from. I mean it isn't her fault she's more comfortable around Remus and trusts him more he has been her father figure since she was a baby and Sirius shouldn't have snapped at her.

I agree, but I still think a part of Sirius is extremely jealous of Remus because there's always going to be the father-daughter connection between Remus and Emily. And there's nothing he can do about it because he wasn't there.

I didn't want to post until Ems had sent me the post I've been waiting for!


The room fell silent as the door slammed behind Emily. Mrs Weasley went to close the curtains on Sirius’ mum. Alicia was staring up at the ceiling, listening to Emily’s thoughts. Jamie knew without leaving the room that Emily was crying because Alicia’s hair went a midnight blue. Then she turned to Sirius as he fell into a chair.

“You… You…” She stuttered, anger evident in her voice. She seemed unable of finding a name to call him. Jamie put a hand on her shoulder, which she shook off. “No… She’s your only daughter… You pushed her to the ground when you were trying to get to Snape… Draco helped her up- her boyfriend, not her father” She was advancing slowly, pointing at him with a shaking finger. “Draco, go see if she’s okay, please” The boy vanished out the door.

“Alicia…” Jamie said in a warning voice but she ignored him.

“How could you say those things to her? She loves you exactly the same way as she loves Remus!” Alicia was shouting now, a foot from Sirius as he sat there staring at her. “I know! She was over the moon when she found you- found out who you were! She’s spent nearly her whole life looking up at Remus, of course she loves him like a father! That’s what he’s been to her because you wasn’t there!”

“Alicia- stop it” Jamie said, trying to pull her back. He let go of her as if he had been electrocuted. “Alicia!”

“It wasn’t my fault I wasn’t there-” Sirius said quietly. Alicia’s hair darkened to black. Now, everyone in the room stepped forwards.

“Am I saying that you purposely got yourself landed in Azkaban? No. What I’m saying is that you twisted and pulled at your daughter’s words to fit in with your own suspicions- which you shouldn’t even have… I think Emily’s right in saying that she hates you…” Alicia stared down at the man she helped escape the Dementors with hatred for the first time. Since that night, they had become great friends. “Right now, I hate you too… And for the first time since I met you, I’m now regretting the fact that I helped you two years ago…” She spun round and left the room, leaving a icy silence behind her.

“Alicia!” Jamie shouted but the sound of the front door slamming echoed back to them. “Sirius, I’m sure she didn’t mean that… I…” He stared apologetically at the man before going after Alicia.

Harry stared at his godfather as he sat there with his head in his hands. He walked over and put a hand on his shoulder, looking over at Ron and Hermione.

“Where would she go?” Hermione whispered as the three of them slowly climbed the stairs.

“Her parents’ house?” Ron said cautiously. Harry could tell that they were thinking about the vision Alicia had had about Voldemort.

“Or Hogwarts? She might have gone to Hagrid’s?” Hermione said as she knocked on the door.

“Yeah… Come on in” Draco’s voice said and Ron pushed the door open. “What is it?” He said, looking up at them as Emily cried into his chest.

“Later…” Harry said, his eyes on Emily. “How is she?” He sat down on the edge of the bed.

“Well… You can see” Draco said quietly, stroking her red curls. “Where’s Alicia and Jamie?” He said, glancing round.

“Well… Jamie had to go after Alicia… She’s left” Hermione said quietly and Emily hiccoughed.

“A- Alicia’s l- l- left?” She said, raising her tear stained face to look at Harry. “W- why?” Harry, Ron and Hermione looked at each other before explaining what Alicia had said.
