banner by Vesper Bayliss (Govoni) The Eagles sit under a brand new navy and bronze banner representing their house. Their solid, shiny wooden table is nicely polished with all the place settings perfectly set. It was once said that the Hogwarts House Elves are the best in the world. It is up to your stomach to agree... but surely it will! Why wouldn't it like elf cooking?
If you're thirsty, there is also fresh pumpkin juice and water on the table, regardless of whether or not it is actually mealtime. | |

Azura sighed as she slid into a seat at the Ravenclaw table and looked down at the plate in front of her. She bit her lip a little as she looked around and she pushed her dark hair behind her ear as she reached out and gingerly put a small scoopful of scrambled eggs on her plate.
A piece of toast came next, along with a small banana. She filled her glass with water and took a sip of that.. At least drinking water didn't make her feel like she was eating ashes..
She picked up her fork and slowly started to push her eggs around her plate.. moving them from one side of it to the other.. Hopefully.. she would be able to get away with this and look like she was eating.. She had Professors to fool after all. She bit her lip before taking another sip of water and then picked up her toast and took a small nibble..
Ugh.. was there a potion she could take that would make food taste good again? |

Katherine had been sitting only two seats apart from Azura when she arrived and at down. She directly looked at the plate in front of her, so Katherine could look at her for a little and notice that her mood was down again. You didn't need to be a legilimens to see that something was amiss with her. Katherine didn't know what, but since the beginning of the term, the girl had been... sad? Joyless? And now she was playing with her food. Even though they weren't friends, they weren't enemies either, and since no one was around, Katherine decided to ask what was wrong. She was also trying to make new friends, you see, so this would help.
"Hey, Azura!" she greeted the girl with a smile as she slid her plate to move right across her, "good morning. How did you sleep?"
This was a conversation-starter, right?

Azura was deep in thought as she pushed her food around her plate with her fork and attempted to make it look like she was eating something.. She mind was on the upcoming holidays, her mother's birthday.. her birthday.. Christmas.
Those thoughts just made her chest ache worse, however.. a voice pulled her from those thoughts and Azura raised her face to look at who was talking to her!
Katherine? Of course she knew who her dorm mate was! But they didn't speak often, they weren't unfriendly, in face when Jace had sat next to them during Muggle studies awhile ago Az had waved at the girl, but this was slightly unusual!
Azura was going to take this opportunity though to get to know her. She could use more friends!
Almost instantly a smiling mask slid over Azura's face.
"Hey Katherine, Morning." She said with a soft smile. "I slept all right. How about you?" She had ended up falling asleep in the common room around 4 am, but the few hours of sleep she had gotten were actually good. For once. | |

Blaise might have been wondering how people could so casually sit at the house tables, nomming on whatever was put before them without question, except...there were no fliers yet in the Great Hall.
He and his cousin had spread out, trying to cover as much of the castle as they could before the damage became irreversible but they simply hadn't gotten here yet. This was easily remedied of course. Stack of fliers in hand, the Gryffindor made big steps into the Great Hall and took a glance at each table.
Oh! There were Katherine and Azura! Oh Merlin, they were girls! If this didn't just turn into an emergency, he didn't know what an emergency was. Both fell into the category most at risk and thus would need the warning.
"Morning girls." Blaise said, his widest dimpled smile on as he fell into the spot just next to them. If anything was amiss, it didn't occur to the boy who'd already pulled two fliers from the stack. "Here you both go, one for you and another for you." Consider him relieved to see that Azura's food was hardly touched. "Me and Bentley are trying to get the word out."

Katherine wasn't here to profile the girl, her dorm mate, therefore she didn't question the swift smile.
"I'm fine -" she wanted to say, but was cut off by... Blaise.
Her heart gave a slight alarm at the sight of him, but she pushed it away as a 'sudden intrusion fright'. He was smiling, therefore she smiled right back. Even though she didn't consider him as a friend now.
His dimples look so hand -
"What is it?" she asked out of habit as she began reading. This was so... absurd! Did they have hard evidence? No! This was just another plot of Blaise to distrupt the magic education he so passionately hated. But she wasn't about to be fooled by it. She snorted at the end. He might be a handsome face, but beneath it was a stupid brain.
"This is silly," she said directly, and to prove her point, took a big gulp from her orange juice.
It was proven yet again that Blaise wasn't a person to waste time for. | |

Azura looked up as suddenly Blaise was there talking to them and she gave him a wave and a smile.. She really hadn't seen him since the bookstore..
"Hello Blaise, What is this?" She asked as she took the piece of paper and her eyebrows rose.. What in the Sweating Fwoopers was this? The food was being poisoned? Huh?
"Is this just because of Professor Meyers class?" She asked him curiously.. that had been fun really.. though she was one of the ones who had gotten shrunk by a spell cause she hadn't drunk anything.. But that was neither here nor there..
She looked up at Katherine as she took a drink of her orange juice and she had to hand it to the girl.. It took guts to do what she did.. Azura had a soft heart, and she was going to try to reason with Blaise..
"Katherine's right.. I don't think anything is wrong with the food." She said as she looked down at her untouched plate.. She had barely eaten all term..
Whoops?
"This.. isn't what it looks like." She said motioning to her plate. | |

Blaise was feeling proper accomplished, having potentially saved two more from the involuntary testing being conducted by the Professors...until.....until Katherine snorted and took a large gulp of her orange juice.
The boy's eyes widened with immediacy and flashed over to Azura who thankfully hadn't also tried to prove a point. Her plate still seemed full. Maybe she was still sorta safe.
"It's got nothing to do with Professor Myers' class--although he does make for a good example." Blaise shook his head, adamant in his convictions. "It's not silly, you're both Ravenclaws so think about it. There's been some...strange behaviour going around the castle lately. A couple of us have noticed it and at first we thought it was just...you know...Hogwarts weirdness but then it's so widespread. So we got to thinking, how can they affect so many people at once--unless it's something in the food. Easy to administer and no one will question it, like how YOU just gulped your drink."
Believe it or not, this had nothing to do with a vendetta against magic. This was genuine concern and he was clearly failing at making sure two more victims didn't fall ill--well...one and a half. Katherine had been kinda weird lately and with a display like that just now, it was no wonder.
"In war, what's one of the most effective ways of discreetly attacking? You poison the water the population has to drink. It's the same thing." Sorta. Mostly. There probably wasn't poison in the food but there was SOMETHING.

Thank you Azura, from house Tully Ravenclaw, first of her name, sharer of wisdom; for agreeing that this was stupid. Katherine's face took on a look of deep scepticism as Blaise explained himself, and wanted to shower him with her orange juice. Had it been anyone else, she would have just snorted and laughed - but it was Blaise, and when he was being so stupid like the 90% of the time - But for real, why do I get extra angry when it's him? He's just another boy, and quite a stupid one. It shouldn't matter that he was my first true friend, because silly people can't be my friend ever...
"But we're not at war!" she said hotly, "the only one at war is you, Blaise. And it's a stupid war. You've just got to embrace who you are, stop making absurd excuses and... just cast magic." Her tone got softer at the end as if she was begging him to, and she looked at him with genuine concern for a second before she collected herself and continued her breakfast. Whatever his silly accusations were, she wasn't listening.
She and Azura were getting to be friends..?

Foooood. That was most of was on Hadley's mind. Food. Breakfast. Edible stuffs. Her stomach was gurgling so hard it was practically yelling.
So when Hadley Denaker crossed the Great Hall to the Ravenclaw table, it was with breakfast in mind first and for most. She sat down next to Kitty and started to pile food on her plate. Eggs. Sausage. Toast. Milk to drink. Bacon. So much bacon. The first bite was heavenly. The second more so.
After a dozen more bites, she paused, finished chewing and swallowed. "Okay what's this thing you have to tell me?" she asked, now that she was eating at a more reasonable pace.

One of the awesome things about Hogwarts was how sausage and bacon was served for breakfast. Back at home Kitty was never allowed to eat meat for breakfast. Her mom (who was a vegetarian) barely allowed her to eat eggs. Usually breakfast consisted of a bowl of cereal, fruit, and maybe waffles on some days. Of course, after a few days at Hogwarts Kitty got used to the delicious variety, but that did not make it any less tasty.
But Kitty was not one to wolf down her food. She ate in small bites and sipped slowly, and she never talked while chewing.
After swallowing her second sausage, she turned to Hadley. "You remember that boy in Gryfindorr? Tenacius? Well I bumped into him yesterday and we had the most wickedly delightful conversation ever."
Kitty watched Hadley's face as she said this, pausing to take another sip of orange juice. "Guess what he told me?" | |

Hadley eyed Kitty curiously, almost suspiciously, as she grabbed her cup of milk. It was more of a mug really. And old metal mug like the kind used in the dark ages. Hogwarts didn't really have modern dinnerware. But it felt right at home here in the castle.
Kitty excited about talking to Tenacius? Did Kitty have a crush on him too or something? Something was up, she just didn't know what and it gave her a sinking feeling in her stomach. She ignored it as best she could as she set down the mug and wiped her mouth. No one needed a milk mustache. "Okay...What did he tell you?"

Azura brought Lunar down to the Great hall with her, and sat the rock down on the table as she settled in for lunch..
"So Lunar, this is where I eat most of my meals actually, which is sometimes a pain.. cause you saw all those stairs.." She said conversationally to her rock as she picked up a sandwich that was on her plate and looked at Lunar..
"And since I'm so dang clumsy, I really don't like stairs.. and of course I had to be put into Ravenclaw.. which is in tower.. A Tower Lunar.." She said with a shake of her head as she took a bite and chewed thoughtfully before looking back at the rock.. "But you must have had it harder though.. I can't imagine what it's like.. hurtling through space.. and then going through the atmosphere and crashing into something.." She reached out her hand and gently petted her little meteorite.
"Compared to that, I really shouldn't be complaining about little things like stairs." She said with a warm smile as she ate another bite..
"Oh Anyways.. this is the Great Hall, and this is the Ravenclaw table..Since I am in the house, I eat at this table." She explained as she took a sip of some water.. and then looked up..
"Ohh, I forgot the best part.. Look at the enchanted ceiling Lunar.." She picked the rock up and set it carefully on her right shoulder as she leaned back so the rock could see.. "Isn't it amazing? It basically shows the weather outside, inside.. which is super cool at times.. Thunderstorns are a bit scary, but I love the cloudy rainy days.. They make me happy.." She paused for a moment as she looked over at her little rock friend.. "What weather do you like?" She asked Lunar as she smiled over at it.. before finishing her lunch.. | |

Kitty's mind blanked as she realized that she was not certain exactly how to describe what happened. She wanted to make it as dramatic as possible. Her appetite temporarily left her as she planned her next words. She could never eat when someone very exciting was happening, whether good or bad. It would return to her right after she finished telling Hadley what Tenacius had said.
"I was taking pictures of the Fat Lady when all of a sudden Tenacius came running out. He was surprised by my flash and he stumbled over. Don't worry, he didn't get hurt," she was quick to add. "Anyway, I apologized and we introduced ourselves." GAA, that sounded so formal. But too late, she couldn't take rephrase now. "He recognized me as one of your friends and then we started talking about you." Actually, she had been the one to bring Haddie into the conversation, but that was just a detail. Kitty leaned in closer to Haddie and lowered her voice, a conspiratorial twinkle in her eyes as she continued. "And guess what? He's SO into you. Merlin, you just wouldn't believe! Almost immediately he said that he KNOWS you like him and that that's why he hangs out with you. Can you believe it? After our conversation I wouldn't be surprised if he starts asking you out."
