| | Herbology Lesson One Professor Phoenix opened the greenhouses with a tired expression on her face. She nodded at the students shortly before disappearing to the back to prepare whatever plants they were going to discuss. |

Anelreas eyed the plant, but could not find a name for it. She had never seen it before.
She heard a bump come from the back of the class and turned her head to see Nadia looking glum as ever. She made a mental note to herself to ask Nadia later what was wrong. She'd have done it then, but knew the Professor would think against it.

Serena heard Nadia speaking under her breath and couldn't help but stifle a giggle. She too had avoided feeding the dransuls. She couldn't help but think of her pet squirrel, and mice and rats were too similar. She just couldn't do it!

Francis feels somewhat better knowing that the other students are not sure what the herbs are. Shrugging, she asks the Professor with a confused look, "Are they dransuls?"

Hogwarts RPG Name: Ganymede Craft Slytherin Fifth Year | :: Ganymede saw Nadia and how pale she seemed. Must be a flu bug going round, Professor pheonix looks rather ill also. She thought. Seeing the caged things, Ganymede reaches for her gloves to prevent any fingers getting chopped off. She slips them on and sighs. I never enjoyed this class. Oh geez, I hope the Professor can't read my thoughts. I better just smile and act interested. Ganymede sat up more and smiled at the Professor. I don't know what those "things" are. Just keep them away from me. Her thoughts were on those creatures. But as she sat there, she also wondered why her friend looked sort of ill. She moved a little over hoping that if Nadia puked it would be the opposite direction onto some Gryffindor. Maybe they'll be no homework? Once again Ganymede smiled and pulled her bland brown hair back. She hadn't morphed it for some time now. She wanted to exhibit a show of self-control. Her eyes were another story. She tried hard to keep them brown but certain events earlier had turned them violet. She regained the brown eyes at the moment. She rolled her brown eyes and sighed once more hoping the answer to what the things were would be answered soon. ::

*looks around the room and sees everyone with a confused look* thinking to herself " I wonder what it is... I mean, the only thing I would think of would be the Dransuls, like a lot of the other students, but I could be wrong. I wonder when the professor will tell us what it is." |

| "The leaves are caged...must be either something very active, excitable, and able to run off..." Nat giggles at the thought of a leaf with little leggy bits climbing down the professor's table. "Or pehaps it's violent? Maybe a plant species related to the Whomping Willow?" |

| "Thank you, Serena" Professor Phoenix said with a smile, "that is five points to Gryffindor House. These are not, as some of you assumed, simply leaves I collected in the autumn but plants that go by the name of Dransuls. Like Venomous Tentaculas or Devil's Snares, they seem to have a mind of their own and feed on smaller animals like mice, young rats or imprudent birds." She opened one of the cages, reached inside and pulled out one of the Dransuls. It sat in her hand like a large football hidden by leaves; momentarily, it was still, but after a few seconds, it started to move, first shaking the leaves, then turning a little and trying to climb up Professor Phoenix' arm. She laughed a little and pushed the Dransul back to the palm of her hand where it sat still again. "I was wondering," Professor Phoenix told the class, "if anybody could tell me what makes the Dransul so unusual for a plant?"

Amy raised her hand.
"Well, for one thing, it's got a mind of its own," she pointed out, wide eyed from the Dransul's actions sitting in Professor Phoenix's palm. "Professor, does the Dransul have any medical properties, like most other plants?" She asked.

| Emil stared at the plant on the professor's palm. "What a weird-looking plant. And it can eat a mice?! Wow, it's way cooler than a Venus Flytrap." He heard the professor's question, so he raised his hand and tried to give his point of view. "Well, it's rather unusual for a plant to eat something as big as a mouse, though I'm not sure if there are plants here in the wizarding world that can eat something as big as a human being, hope I don't cross their path in any part of my future. And we might not suspect it as a plant at first, if you haven't told us that it is in fact a plant, because it is not potted, and I don't see any roots as well."

| "I agree with Emil; it's more similar to a animal than a plant. The Dransul doesn't appear to have a root system." Nat says aloud, scribbling down some notes. |

Serena raised her hand again, "I'm not sure if I remember right, but I think Dransuls don't like the sun, I think they prefer the dark."

Anelreas watched the Dransul in the Professor's hand. She felt a shudder climb up her spine. She didn't particular have a liking for plants that had a mind of their own and ate animals. She didn't even like the common Venus Fly Trap. She never had after seeing Little Shop of Horrors; but maybe she was just being paranoid.
She listened to what everyone said. She would have just said it moved on it's own and that was unusual enough for her.

Rosa raised her hand after thinking for a while. 'it can move.' she said. 'that's quite unusual for plants, isn't it?'

:: Lauren looked confussed, as usual, at the plant. She rased her hand to ask a question of her own. " Proffessor, why does the plant have to hide in those leaves. Is it for prtection or is it for to fool small creatures that it eats? Or maybe for some other reason." she said as she waited for the Professor to answer her question.::

| Emil heard Francis' answer and he decided to comment about it. "Well, it's not unusual for plants to have healing properties. There are what some call herbal plants, and they can cure some illnesses like the common colds or stomach ache."
