*Cordelia came running into the classroom, feeling extremely glad to see Professor Rae again.

*She asked, taking her seat.

*Vicki comes running as fast as she can*
"Hello Professor! Nice to see you again. Did you have a nice weekend?"
*As she asked, she took a seat in the middle of the class*

"Merry Meeting, Professor Rae, I am glad to see you've gotten back okay." Andrew states as he takes a seat and perpares for class. "What's the topic for today's lesson Professor?"

"hey Professor" Feesha walks over and sees Andrew, "hey mind if I sit here?"

"Hi, sure come on over and grab a seat. The more Gryffindors the better." Andrew says jokingly. "Glad to see you've gotten back from your trip, too."

Willow walks in and takes a seat near the front, taking out her ink, quill, and parchment.

sits down beside andrew, "thanx, and its good to see you too," she pulled out her piece of parchment and her quill, and wand and waited for the lesson to start

"Alright, students, today we are going to talk a bit about some simple hexes, and later in the lesson you're going to have the opportunity to practice these hexes. First, I want to know what you know about hexes? What's the difference between a hex, a jinx, and a curse? As always, only the first person to answer gets points, unless you have something significant and different to contribute."

Curse is a spell that cause the opponent a mis fortune.
Jinx bring the opponent a mis fortune or a bad luck for only certain period of time and a hex is similar to curse. An evil spell.

The difference between a curse a hex and a jinx is a matter of level of harm. A curse being the stronger and the jinx the weakest

Curses are generally used to describe a destructive spell, while hexes and jinxes are not as strong, but can still cause harm.

DADA ideologies consist in using every kind of curses, jinxes or spells only for defense purpose. Going on about our previous discussion about dark magic it is questioned if hexes, jinxes and common curses should be illegal as the Unforgivables. The Ant-hexes, for one, are described as hexes with a nice name. Ususally the damage a curse do is the highest and difficult to reverse. The hexes are, well, mostly a way to incapacitate you on a lower level, or molest you. Like the Knee-reversing Hex for one. The effect are more easy to fight. The jinx are mostly used as pratical joking.

The incantation for petrification is Petrificus Totalus, and it is considered a jinx. Hoever a more powerful petrification is considered cursing.

Oh, also, the jinx are a one-moment spells. They mostly last for the duration of the intention the spell has... if that makes any sense Well, what I am trying to say is that a jinx could, say, trip you (Trip Jinx) but then you will be able to walk again once you stand up. The Locomotor Mortis Curse, on the contrary, will leave you completely without your legs functioning for about as long as the caster wishes. The hex effect, yes, vanquish after a period of time.

"Five points to fairladyHermione and Nadia," Professor Rae said before continuing. "Nadia really hit the nail on the head by pointing out that hexes, jinxes, and curses are really just varying degrees of spells that cause harm. Of course, I won't have us try out any curses today, but I think there is some good that can be derived by you knowing some common hexes. Can you think of any reasons that I might be focusing on that today? I'm sure most of you know how I feel about using Dark Arts, and this isn't Dark magic, but I'm still encouraging you to know a spell that causes harm. Any ideas why?"

This could serve as an explanation, I am guesing. We are dealing with a lesser form of harm that we use in Defense Against Dark Arts. It is impossible to defend without offend. For example, giving you time to run away. And the hexes are a good way to defend ourselves without doing a real -serious- harm on your opponent.

feesha raised her hand, and tried her answer,
"Well we would benefit from knowing some common hexes, because they are ones that would be used in combat if that were the case, to either make us be at less of an advantage against our opponants. Also at most of or level, in the school, many of us would only be able to do common hexes, and therefore we should learn about them, and possibly learn how to block them."
After saying her answer, she waits, thinking I bet its all wrong

"Yes, five points each to Nadia and Feesha... those are my two main reasons as well. I think its important you all have a basic knowledge of hexes because they are an easy way to defend yourself in a crisis situation, allowing time for escape or a bigger spell, such as Incarcerous, as well as you must understand a spell before you can avoid or defend against it."

*nods, the speech about 'having knowledge' ringing in her ears... she had already heard that somewhere *

"Not to mention mastering a spell, whatever it is, is as good as a mildly powerful curse. We can master them until the point of turning them into curses even like in the case of Petrificus Totalus - well, that's my belief."
