The room is dimly lit as you come into the Divination Tower, the feel is very much like it has been since that first lesson. The light music and happy smells are no longer there and just a enough candle light is around the room. As you enter you don't see anything special anywhere that could clue you into what the lesson might be about. Instead you see desks and Professor Kitridge standing at the front of the room.
The board behind her has one question, why do we feel itchy?
OOC: Hey guys, we are going to say this lesson happened IC before the war! Class has started!

Kinsay used to hurry from class to class, she really did. But all of that changed when the fire nation attacked they got stuffed up into that horrible room. Now in a SMALL act of defiance, she walked slowly. It wasn't much and it wouldn't get her into any trouble, but her guards did often have to give her a shove or two. It was a little thing, but sometimes the little things felt like big things.
She paused as she made her way into the room, stopping to consider the question on the board and almost answering it outloud, before stopping herself. She wasn't sure what would get her into trouble these days. Instead, she settled for a quiet nod of the head and a soft, "Hi, professor," before making her way to a seat. She hoped Professor Kitridge would let them sit with their friends who weren't in the room. She missed them dearly. Especially Teddy, who she missed something fierce.

It was true that Nem had never taken Divination, nor had any interest in the subject. That was still the case, but they were here anyway, just as they had shown up to a few of the recent Divination lessons. Inquisitorial Squad stuff, you know, extra eyes. Putting in a little extra work for the Big Man, even if it meant spending time in a class they'd never even considered taking as an elective. Might learn something worthwhile. Who knew.
(Nem knew.)
Strolling past Limpet to a seat at the very back of the dimly lit classroom, where they could sit alone and keep an eye on everyone else, Nem pulled their bag off their shoulder and swung it neatly under the desk. They dropped into a chair, tilted back on two legs, and stared right ahead at Kitridge, apparently ignoring the question on the board entirely.

Noah was, honesty, drained at this point emotionally and physically. The Room was beginning to take a toll on him as much as he'd like to hide it..... He was doing a poor job hiding it and putting on a brave face. At this point, doom & gloom was his norm. So he just walked into the room, nodded at the Professor, before stopping when he saw the question.
...HUH? ....
"uh, Hi Professor.... Intriguing question..." he commented. It was all he could offer at this point before he headed to find a seat in the classroom.
Why do we feel itchy? he repeated in his mind. Easy. Allergies or Dust Mites... he thought, before taking a sit somewhere in the middle of the classroom. He really didn't feel like talking today.... He'd rather be in his own world.... At least in his own world, he couldn't get himself or anyone in trouble.
Quinn had absolutely no idea what itching had to do with Divination. This class always seemed to surprise him, though, so he tried to keep an open mind.
"Hello, Professor," Quinn greeted, taking an empty seat. He didn't ponder much on the question in front of him, instead choosing to focus on the question in his mind—how could they escape The Room™? He had been thinking about that gross little window, and how it seemed like the best chance. Bubble-head Charm... maybe gillyweed..? But the pressure of the lake... there's probably more advanced spells that would help with that... but how would he plan with people outside the Room if his outside time was supervised..?
Bella draged her feet as she took the many stairs up to the Divination Tower. She didn't feel good either emotionally or physically. These Neo-Alliance folks were now giving her nightmares and not to mention that she missed her housemates that were stuck in the Room. But what really put Bella down was being cut off from family for so long. She missed her sister and parents like crazy.
With her dark haired head cast down Bella entered the Divination classroom. Eventually she raised her head to peer around at setting. There wasn't much to see except for a question about itchyness. Shrugging she took a seat at one of the desks after greeting Professor Kitridge with a quiet. "Hello, professor Kitridge! Can we water scry today?"

Being escorted around was like second nature to her now. Most of the time, Lia didn't even focus on it unless one of 'them' got a little to close. Divination wasn't her best subject and it probably showed throughout the course of the year but she was trying. Plus every lesson attended was time out of that Room.
It was in complete silence and a steady pace that Dahlia walked from The Room all the way up to the divination tower. Her head was kept down, blue eyes fixed on the ground in front of her feet. Only did she allow herself to look up once she stepped into the room.
"Hello, Professor Kitridge," she greeted quietly offering up what she hoped was a half decent smile. Without much thought she choose the first empty seat and sat down, sliding her bag from her shoulder and setting it under her chair for the time being. A quick glance was given to the question on the board but that was all.

Curtis was here... mostly. His physical presence, though what was going on in his mind was another matter. Isolation wasn't a stranger to him, but that was when he had control. Control slipped away by the day with him as of now.
"Hello... Professor." Curtis was exhausted. He slept most of the time and that made him more tired than usual after enough lack of exercise. He did manage a hint of a smile at his godmother before taking his seat.
Why do we feel itchy? Curtis read the board before privately thinking, Because we don't get to bathe enough. Could he say that? Nah, maybe once it was all over.
Avalon missed the old Divination lessons. The ones with flowers and incense and creatures...and a snappy, peppy Professor Kitridge. She was sick of Rosier and all these awful people turning the castle into a prison. They sucked all the good out of everything. She absolutely hated it. And she was losing more and more hope every day that she would ever get out of here.
"Hello Professor Kitridge," she greeted glumly, dragging her feet a bit as she made her way to an empty desk. Her eyes flicked up to the board briefly, but the question made no sense to her. And she didn't quite have the energy to ponder it at the moment, other than the fact that she was itchy to get out of Hogwarts and see her family again. So she stared straight ahead, simply waiting for class to begin.

Bernie wandered up the stairs to Divination at the tail end of the pack of Room kids, breathing heavily as she ambled. (It wasn't her fault she was out of breath; it was the fault of the stairs.)
She let out a low sigh when she reached the top and looked around, missing the writing on the board. Her blue eyes landed on Kenzie and then on Nem, and naturally, she made a beeline his way, plopping into the seat next to him with a lot of gusto.
"HI," she greeted the Slytherin with enthusiasm, noticing the chair tilting thing, of course, but instead slouuuuuuuuuching back in her desk. This was a nice change of scenery; Nem didn't usually go to Divination, right? Anyway.
She almost smiled at them. "Wassup."

Camryn was basically numb at this point. She had decided that she no longer cared about.....anything. She was in survival mode. She would survive Divination. She would survive Hogwarts. She would survive this indescribably horrible year.
Entering the tower, she went into auto-pilot. “Hello Professor”, she said before sitting down at an empty desk. Noticing the board, Cam saw the question. Why do we feel itchy? Nope, she didn’t really care about that either.

The Snakette shuffled further into the Divination classroom among her fellow Roomies and the chaperones. The classroom seemed so dreary without the hype that Kitridge usually brought to it, be it through the use of music or be it with her snaps. Claudine nodded to the woman at the front. “Hi, Professor.”
Then her eyes shifted to the board. Itchy? Claudine wasn’t itchy. Little did she realise she actually started to scratch the palm of her left hand as she headed for the back of the class.

Apollo hated lessons these days, as did anyone. The only decent thing that lessons provided was a place to see his best friend without the overcrowded great hall. Even Professor Kitridge, who the first year had the sense was normally bubbly and full of light seemed darkened by the presence of the hoods. He wanted to owl his mother, his family. He had hoped to have seen them at christmas, but nothing changed and if anything things seemed to be getting worse. This wasn't how Apollo had envisioned his first year of Hogwarts going at all.
Taking a seat beside Bella, he nodded at her and the Professor, making note of the question on the board. Why did they feel itchy? "Bad karma. Like if you know something is wrong... you just ... " okay, he probably should leave it at that. He was doing good at keeping a low profile so far, why change it?

Adam was...well, just kind of numb to everything at this point. He would normally be a bit optimistic that, with summer coming up soon, they'd be able to go home and get a break from all this, but even that seemed far-fetched in this crazy world they now lived in. So he just woke up, ate, went to class, and came back. Each and every day.
Today was no exception, although he DID perk up a bit when he saw the question on the board. Itchiness? That was...not what he had been expecting when he stepped in to Divination today. Hmmm.

Mamie wasn't a big fan of divination, but she was a big fan of Professor Kitridge. Even if she didn't get to stay in the Hufflepuff dorm anymore, she was still a Hufflepuff. She tried not to look happy as she trod up all the stairs from the deepest of the dungeons to the divination tower.
Why hadn't wizards invented some sort of magical escalator? It would make Hogwarts much easier to get around.
She took a seat next to Kinsay, and stared at the board. She hadn't been itchy before, but now she was. She scratched at her arm, wondering why.

With all the things that were going on with the Neo-Alliance, Devin was finding it very difficult to focus on lessons. How could he possibly pay attention to learning things that he might not even need to know for whatever his future career ended up being when there was a very real, immediate threat right here in the castle? Even though he had been allowed to remain in his dorm and wasn’t watched quite as closely as some of his peers, that relative “freedom” meant nothing when most of his friends were locked up outside of lessons and he was just as much of a hostage of the Neo-Alliance as every other person in this school. His eyes were heavy from a lack of proper sleep and his body moved stiffly as he forced himself to keep going through the motions to get to class when really all he wanted to do was be home with his family, or at the very least hide somewhere where he could let his mind temporarily escape from the harsh reality of the situation. Devin couldn’t bring himself to say anything in greeting to the professor, but he did offer a rather forced smile. Why did he feel itchy? Well, he hadn’t felt itchy before seeing that question on the board but now thinking about being itchy was making him itchy. There was one answer to that question. After taking a seat, Devin scratched an itch that had popped up on his leg.

There is always a moment in a professor's life where they feel they might have connected with someone, this was a moment she dreamed about, but wasn't sure it was the exact moment, but seeing Nem move into her room made Cassie stand a little taller. She knew the rumors of their alliance, but she couldn't help but hope she might be the reason Nem had started coming to her class. Maybe, just maybe this could be one of those moments.

Well, he hadn’t felt itchy before seeing that question on the board but now thinking about being itchy was making him itchy. There was one answer to that question. After taking a seat, Devin scratched an itch that had popped up on his leg.
Seeing the final person come into the tower Cassie gave a smile to Devin before turning to the rest of the class to get the lesson started.
"Good day class, I think we are all here and can get started. I hope you are ready for a unique sort of lesson. I want to leave the topic of divination forms and just speak about your thoughts on the universe and how it fits in with all of our lessons."
She moved about the class and looked at all the students. "I have always said divination is all around us, with as many forms as we have, one can say this subject is all just made up or that we just get what responses we want, but my question before we fully jump in is, what do you truly think? Does divination help us because the universe is always giving signs to help us along our path or are you one that just feels that diviners have simply used the universe to just get the reading they wish to get?"
There was no wrong answer and she was an open person and didn't mind if some or all didn't think her subject was actually something they fully believed in. She knew how she believed and she knew that some would see the truths.
Morgan was unsure what day it was, let alone what class he was suppose to be in at any given moment. Time just blurred together into one endless ordeal, being in that room most of the time. So normally he followed his year mates when it was time to be let out for school. Most times he ended up in the right place, or at least it seemed that way.
And he realized that he was meant to be in Divination once they reached the top of the castle. "Hello, Professor," he greeted Kitridge politely, his voice almost robotic as he was running on autopilot these days. But he soon narrowed his eyes as he noticed Nemesis already there when he walked in to find a seat.
What were they doing in Divination? Morgan was sure they didn't take the class as he'd never seen them here, so they were probably here to rat anyone else out who didn't mind their p's and q's. "Nothing better to do, Nemesis?" he asked oh so politely with just a tinge of annoyance underlying his tone. But he didn't wait for answer as he kept walking before sitting in an empty seat.
Bernie still seemed awfully chummy with them which was curious. But Morgan was not going to keep letting Nemesis live rent free in his head which they totally did so he turned his narrowed eyes away from them and glanced up at the board as he absently scratched at his arm.
Thankfully he wasn't sitting long before class started and he barely gave the question any thought before raising his hand. "I think people hear what they want to hear and can just read into anything they want to get the answers they want." Skeptical? Yeah, he was these days.

Thoughts of how the universe fits in with the lessons?
Okay, there was the start to the lesson that they weren’t used to. Anyway. Claudine considered the questions and took her time to put her thoughts together. Over the course of her five years at Hogwarts, her opinion on Divination was in the middle; there wasn’t much believe in the subject but then she couldn’t explain how that one time she and the rest of the class had managed to summon a ghost the other term.
So, coming back to the question…
The Snakette sat back in her chair thoughtfully. Up went a hand after sometime. “I think Diviners use the universe to get their readings.’’ Claudine did not wish to elaborate her thoughts. She didn't have the energy.

She wouldn’t say more? Noah nodded. Right! No spoilers. He offered Professor Kitredge a small smile.
Class shortly began thereafter and he focused on the question that she had posed the class. Wait.... what did this have to do with being itchy? The boy bit his lip, wishing that he had Aboli beside him to offer a perspective. She was amazing at Divination..... Absolutely amazing at it. He wished he could have been that good at it. He remained silent at first, listening to his peers comments. At Morgan’s comment, he found himself nodding in agreement. Yes, people chose to interpret what they wanted too... That was true.....And Claudine’s comment about diviner’s using the universe to get readings made sense to him. He wanted to connect it to horoscopes and talk about how muggles looked to astrology- well some- like his cousin LIVED off of his prophesied horoscope to tell them how to seize the day... How would Aboli answer the question? He tried to think through the questions she had prompted him with two years when they had studied for Divination OWLS together back in the library.
As he mulled over the question, he found himself having a moment of realization. Things started to click. What if the universe was like on of his Dad’s coworkers? The two of them couldn’t speak the same language and needed someone to interpret it... maybe divination was like that?
He raised his hand. “I think the universe is giving us signs of what’s happening around us.... Divination is the...” What was the right word he wished to use? Ah yes! “Tool for us to interpret it. It’s almost like we speak two different languages. The first is the universe which may do it through omens... And the diviner comes in and interprets the language through the use of divination.”
Quinn was dragged from his thoughts as he heard Morgan's remark towards Nem. Quinn hadn't even noticed them come in, or even if they were here before Quinn was. Being reminded of Nem's existence made Quinn's blood boil. He knew Nem wasn't to be trusted, Bernie just didn't want to believe it. And then they're the reason that Ash got... got something-ed. He wasn't sure if Ash or any of the others were even still alive... and that was Nem's stupid fault.
Today had just turned into an angry day. And yet, Quinn couldn't do anything about it. Nem could just as easily kill him as any of the Alliance—considering they were in it.
Quinn tapped his foot in annoyance of Nem's mere presence in the room as the Professor made her introduction to the lesson. Quinn wasn't sure if he thought Divination was real, but he knew he didn't drop a rock on his foot for nothing. And the bad omen was all too right.
"I don't know. I think it could be. But some people who call themselves diviners are definitely fakes. And who knows if you're subconsciously pushing yourself towards a certain outcome now that you've gotten the reading, like a self-fulfilling-prophecy-type thing—now that you think it's going to happen, you unintentionally make it happen. It's really up for interpretation. But, if it works for some people, then it works for them," he shrugged.

Huh. What did this whole questioning the legitimacy of signs have to do with itchiness? Maybe they were going to learn that being itchy was some kind of sign? This stuff about the universe sounded deep. Too deep for his mind to fully contemplate right now. Perhaps in another time when he didn’t have to worry about if he and his friends would survive to see their families again he would have enjoyed this discussion more. ”Different people might interpret the same sign to have different meanings because they personally relate to it in a different way, and so they shape their understanding of it based on their own experiences. But I don’t think that means that signs from the universe don’t mean anything, just that the meanings of divination are different for everyone.” He had no idea if that made sense or even if it adequately answered the question, but too much of his brain power was going to baseline survival right now for him to think any deeper about the universe. Honestly he had no idea on if divination really meant anything to him at all. There were much more pressing issues on hand in the present that needed to be sorted before he could worry about the future. It seemed rather pointless trying to predict the future when he wasn’t even certain that there would be one.

There were times that Curtis wanted to really talk with his godmother again, alone. But it was limited to classes and outdoor escorts.. with other people present. Their greetings were just enough for now as he settled into the lesson beginning.
What did he think about the first question? Given the right time, diviners will seek the answer they desire or happen upon a sign that the universe spell out. Curtis thought before answering, "It depends on the Diviner themselves. Some take advantage of the signs and twist them unto their own wishes," Works with just about anything really. "Perhaps those that don't believe came across too many undesirable readings." Somehow just saying this aloud, he felt something click in his head. There was something deeper behind this question.

Camryn sat with her face in her hands, trying hard to maintain her “don’t care” attitude. She was listening as the professor spoke. The topic had taken a sharp turn from itching to Divination and the universe. Cam just wanted to sit there and think about happier times, happier things. However, she just couldn’t help herself. She had to answer.
Raising her hand, Cam began to give her opinion.......albeit without enthusiasm. ”I think.......there are people who see signs in everything, real or not. They make up their own interpretations and believe they are true, even though they are not. But.....I do believe that the universe tries to help us out sometimes. It tries to tell us things that we need to know. I think there are some people, diviners, who really are in touch with the universe or whatever is out there and they can make sense of the signs.” Well that was a lot for someone who didn’t care.

Kinsay sat quietly (which was strange) and properly (which was even stranger) as she waited for class to begin. She only looked over at Nemesis briefly as he strolled by. Nemesis made her feel a confused sort of way. It was hard, understanding her feelings. Especially when they all seemed to conflict. That's why her ultimate solution was to just stop thinking about it all together. Except. That never really worked because the more she told herself to stop thinking it - the more she did think it. See? Confusing.
And she was doing it again. The thinking about it thing.
So when Mamie came by to sit, Kizzy was desperate to think about anything else. She gave table-mate a sad sort of look. A I-hope-no-one-disappears-today sort of look. A everything-is-terrible and I-don't-even-like-divination sort of look.
And then when class began, Kizzy turned her attention to Professor Kitridge instead. The question did help with distractions. Kinsay firmly believed that divination didn't actually work because nothing about it made sense. It wasn't science. No offense. Like Morgan said. Or like Quinn. Some people are fakers, Kinsay knew. Sometimes Kinsay thought maybe Professor Kitridge was a faker too. She couldn't say this, of course, because it might hurt her professors feelings, so instead, Kiz raised her hand to ask a question. An important one. "Professor? If divination really works, how come you didn't know terrible things were going to happen this year?"
This.............. was meant to be said with more tact.
