The house-elves have been hard at work, leaving the Great Hall spotless, the tables set with pristine silverware, and delicious smells floating up from the kitchen. Your stomach might be growling, but it isn't quite time to eat yet.
Hopefully the Headmaster will make his speech before you chew your way through your House table.
Hugo couldn't help but to laugh a bit when he saw Cornelius' reaction to his question. Cornelius was blushing so that was a yes. "Yeah they are" nodded. Like he couldn't be more right 'bout that. So....the name. "Katerina, huh?" interesting "Haven't talked to her before but I know who she is" or maybe they have talked before? He couldn't remember. "So, have you already asked her out?" and if not then he should. Hugo could help him. Just ignore his failed love stories.
Back to Brooklyn and Maggie, Hugo nodded at them and started to fill up his plate 'cause he was hungry. As always. He smiled back at Maggie, "You were there too? Too bad we didn't knew before" it would have been fun. And then, out of nowhere someone decided to throw him pumpkin juice. It was Nat. Maggie's reaction was good. Thank you! He got up and grabbed a napkin, he said nothing. Like what was her problem? Girls. Hugo looked at the third year (Katy), "Stop". Don't give more ideas, please.
He was glad house elves existed. "Yeah, thank you" well, actually he could do it himself but the elf (Quirly) was nice not like OTHER PEOPLE. With a flick of his wand he fixed his hair and clothes and also was ready for another pumpkin juice or piece of food to come at him.

Conversations continued, and as far as she was concerned, t6here was absolutely nothing wrong with listening idly to the discussion Maggie had been having with the new girl. The one who’d been approached by the Gryffindor who had basic ally insulted Maggie and therefore caused the slightest bit of amusement for Brooklyn. Names were noted, at least for said new girl who apparently would be sharing a dorm with them. She could deal with that. She’d survived six terms living with Maggie after all. Brooklyn had continued eating, or more accurately picking at her food while she kept observing things. Like the house elves and whatever Peeves and the she-poltergeist were doing up at the staff table, which still had most of her attention due to analyzing the new professors. She just felt that it was good they didn’t have a new head of house.
Blah, blah Cairo, Dante, etc. Brooklyn didn’t care, aside from noting that maybe that was why she’d never gotten a return owl or even a question as to why she’d sent the owl at the beginning of summer in the first place. She wasn’t about to translate it as truth until she found out for sure, but then she’d need to talk to Hugo for that. Obviously he wasn’t choosing to say anything in present company, and she was honestly grateful. Especially as Maggie had made her little comment, which earned a glance from her. Of course. “It’s not as if I stayed long,” she replied with a shrug, although it wasn’t as if they would have made a point of meeting up otherwise. “Most of my summer I spent back in London. Ballet and violin practice.” And going to Diagon to meet up with Roman, as well as the time she’d seen Hady…
Any continued thoughts trailed off in surprise as she’d suddenly found herself with an irate blonde in her lap, and she’d glanced around her to see Nat stalking off to the other end of the table. Luckily for Maggie, she’d cleaned off the bench next to her before Brooklyn unceremoniously dumped her back into the mess. That had been a serious breach of her personal space.
At least between Quirly and well-cast charms, Hugo had cleaned himself up. Brooklyn was tempted to cast a shield charm just to make sure nothing else happened, but aside from that suggestion from Katy she figured nothing more was coming from Nat. She took her wand out just in case, holding it in her left hand as she picked around her plate again. Trying to find anything that hadn’t been splashed with pumpkin juice.

[color=dodgerblue]Katy was no expert on... anything, really, but it was starting to seem like Lyra might be a bad choice in friends. In a world where Katy was supposed to avoid embarrassing her parents, aunts, uncle, grandparents, and rising-star cousins, she needed to avoid trouble, or at least avoid hanging with someone who was likely to get caught.
"That's pretty dark, Lyra. Might want to keep your willingness to torture to yourself." She picked up her spoon and poked the nearest bowl of vegetables. "I'm up for fun, though. What do you have in mind?" Might as well keep Lyra out of trouble... and see what fun was to be had.
Lyra looked at Katy and quickly realized she was concerned about how rebellious she was. Lyra was not in position to lose a possible friend right off the bat so she tried to explain herself a little better to Katy. "Katy, it may come across as dark, but I just don't go around torturing random people on a whim." I am not like that at all." "I am all for getting revenge on someone that hurts one of my friends and by all means I will not sit back and do nothing about it if my friends are getting hurt by someone or a group of people." So if you do decide to become my friend and yes I can be a bit of a rebel at times, I will have your back Katy." "You can count on that."
"As for fun I would just like to explore the ins and outs of the grounds of Hogwarts and also the Castle. I also would also like to get to know some of the cute boys around this place." she lets out a small giggle.
The red on his face slowly receded, but his hands were still a little clammy by this talk about Katerina. Cornelius nodded. "The only pretty Katerina I know." True story, bro. Wait. Hugo knew who she was. This was awesome. Double wait. Ask her out? "We've hung out a few times during the summer? Does that count--"
WHY was there juice raining on Hugo all of a sudden?!?!?!?
Baffled, the third year blinked, and blinked again until he found his voice. "HEEEEEEEEY! Not the hair!" Why must girls go for the hair? Like, when it was their fingers playing with it and they were gentle about it, it was okay, but WHY pumpkin juice?? That was going to make hair sticky.
Cornelius handed his napkin to Hugo. "He's trying to give me valuable life lessons here," the boy grumbled. Jeez, thanks Nat.

The prank went a little haywire like I said, I set a spell to the house to raise the temperature of the house to a very uncomfortable level while locking all the students in the room with no way out for 48 hours." The prank went out of control when it got too hot and something caught fire." The Head Master had to quickly come in and overturn the spell and get the students out to safety." I was expelled immediately." Lyra actually said these things as not being proud as she would never kill someone, but if someone hurt her friend she would definitely find something to make them uncomfortable.
Lyra listened intently as Nat spoke about her band. "That really sounds awesome Nat, I would love to here you play sometime if you and the others wouldn't mind me sitting there listening sometime." "Music is definitely one of my favourite things in the world."
OHMYGOD this girl was nuts. "Pyro queen" She couldn't even imagine locking people in a common room let alone doing something like this. Nat didn't mean to stare at her, but SHE LOCKED PEOPLE INTO A FIRE!!! This was topped anything she had heard from anyone so far. LIKE WHAT? "Everyone was alright?"
She wanted to hear them play, this made Natalia smile again. "We played at a talent search this summer got 10th out of 50. We lost two of our guitar players, but picked up another and it sounds great." Well Ilia was still up in the air on if she was coming back. The sixth year wished her bandmate would contact them. It had been months since they heard from her. "We are actually going to try and set up a little Halloween thing in the Room of Requirement to play this year." She knew it was just being talked about right now, but she could tell people about it.

A new healer and librarian too? Wow, this Headmaster surely didn't like the old staff, huh?
The last item he addressed, however, was one that had Maggie's full attention. Botros. Right. She'd heard. Of course she'd heard. Her eyes briefly flicked over to the Hufflepuff table in search for Eureka once she'd stood for that moment of silence. Rula too, she'd noticed how the girl had tried to flee earlier.
Over? Okay. Back to the actual feast part of the feast then.

Ah yes, at least the new girl agreed with her there.
Before she could be too smug about that, however, the Gryffindor talked about her. As if she wasn't even there. IGNORING HER. How rude! "Can you be annoying over there?" Maggie waved her at nothing in particular but certainly at something VERY FAR away from where they were here. Like, not here. Not at their table. This was their table. So, shoo.
That new girl was still fairly interesting though. So far so good. "Magdalena it is then." Maggie's lips curled into a small smirk. In a good way. She actually quite liked her full name so there you go. "June."June."Which year are you in, June?" Like, sixth? Or maybe even seventh?
Were they getting ANOTHER dorm mate??

Maybe the kiss on the cheek had been too much.
But Maggie WAS in fact quite exciting to see Hugo again. And she wasn't shy. So there. It worked. Hugo certainly didn't seem to mind it either. She giggled, leaning against his side briefly. "Well, I've missed you." Truth. Right! Cairo. "OOoh. Yes. Dante said. Shame we didn't see each other there. Zeke and I went to visit her, too!" She grinned before glancing around the hall for a moment.
Where WAS Bella anyway? She'd been meaning to thank her again. Hmm.
Even though she'd only included Brooklyn in the conversation for Hugo's sake, Maggie WAS in fact somewhat interested in what she had to say too. Also a liiiiiitttle bit jealous."I was planning on going back to California too this summer but then I just had so many other things to do that I just didn't get around to it." Yes that. She smiled at her dormmate and was about to add something else when-

With a shriek Maggie pretty much jumped into Brooklyn's lap to get away from Hugo and the pumpkin juice. What-? "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" She yelled after Nat when the other girl walked off again. What even?!?!?!?!? She would've gone after her too but was afraid to move seeing as there was pumpkin juice not only on Hugo but also on the bench where she'd been sitting.
Okay, maybe she SHOULD get off Brooklyn's lap though.
With a wave of her wand Maggie quickly cleaned the bench so she could sit in her seat again. As for Hugo......Hugo got a confused and unimpressed stare. Like, pls. Maggie was the drama queen here, not him. Know your place, Foster.

"My mum is in Potions too," Katy hedged. Obviously her mum was into a lot more than just Potions, but it was too braggy to say it like that. Besides, at its most basic, cosmetics were Potions. And everyone knew about her mum already, right? So maybe bringing up her mum like this was overkill already? Sigh. Not being braggy was hard.
"I like loads of shops. So there's a few clothing shops we really like, especially 'cause pretty much everything is bespoke but they turnaround time is just like off the rack..." She pinched her bottom lip thoughtfully. Finding new shops was half the fun, honestly. It was hard to pick a favorite when she preferred poking her head into new places. "And yeah, everything for now, although I'm not keen on Divination."
An older girl further down the table upturned a goblet of pumpkin juice on another student, who just happened to be a boy student and a prefect to boot. It distracted Katy from those she was talking to, but only in an extremely good way. Katy bounced to her feet and applauded loudly.
"BRAVO. ENCORE WITH MASHED POTATO DOWN HIS PANTS!"

What was wrong with her? WHAT WAS WRONG WITH HER????? She stared back down the table at all of them. A flicker of a smirk crossed her face as Katy said about mash potatoes, "Don't listen to him Katy I think he deserves some mash potatoes thrown at him, his precious hair would look good with gravy running down it." Not even juice made him look at her. He truly hated her that much. She wanted to turn and ignore them all. Maybe he was being a player down there with all the girls. Wonder how Zeke would like his girlfriend being flirted with by the prefect.
Cornelius saying about life lessons made Natalia laugh, she couldn't stop laughing. It was a laugh that echoed the table. "Hugo Foster giving you advice?" Oooooh the things the girl could tell the younger student. How Hugo's first outing with Nat went.... How he acted towards her all last term even when she tried to be friends and be there for him. Oh yes, he was not the person to give advice to anyone. "I think you would have a better chance asking Brooklyn or Maggie advice. Not even sure Hugo can get a girl let alone give advice on one."
Nat was bitter and bitter Nat became hurtful Nat. She glared at Hugo a bit more, "There is nothing wrong with me, there is plenty wrong with him though, he can't even clean up himself he has to have a house elf help him."
HUMPH
She turned herself away from him, she couldn't even look at him right now.
June wasn't picking sides. The younger girl had called her pretty, and her comment about the older girl was pretty funny. The older girl was blonde, pretty, seemed a bit sour, so maybe she was a cliche. But she was also being nice to HER, so... No sides were being taken yet.
"You're still weird," she told the younger girl.
Then she turned to Magdalena, her eyes attracted to that smirk she had on her lips. Damn, that was cool. How did she even do that? "I'm a seventh year. This is my last year." Which was good because she hated school. She had hated it when she was homeschooled, so she would probably hate it now, even though it was a whole new world she was being introduced to.
A seventh year? Really?
Tugging a blond lock behind her ear, Maggie grinned at the other girl. "You'll be in my dorm then." And she didn't appear to be SUCH a bad addition either. Like, couldn't be worse than Elise really. "Brooklyn's in our year too." She nodded to the girl next to her.

Oh wow, thanks for your hospitality there, Brooklyn.
NOT.
Luckily she'd had the time to clean her seat first. Pfft. Maggie didn't even have time to complain about it however as apparently Nat decided that she wasn't done yet. At first Maggie figured she'd just ignore the younger girl, instead watching the house elf clean up the mess. And Hugo. Who was still getting pointedly confused looks from her by the way.
Like, what was that?!?
But Nat just wouldn't stop talking and it was irritating Maggie more and more. Like, ugh, shut up already. "Stop acting out just because your precious boyfriend isn't here." She eventually snapped back. Like, seriously, dumping pumpkin juice over someone's head. What was she, five?
Yet another year begins. Elsa strolled into the great hall and went directly into her house's table. She looked around at all the familiar faces and sighed. Last year had been chaotic and now she really hoped to be able to enjoy herself properly. Drama free if possible.
She sat herself just in time to hear Ariadne's shout for Slytherin, which had her giggling "'ERE 'ERE!" she said loudly back raising a glass of pumpkin juice.

Justin definitely needed some quality time with the snakes after that fiasco. He was going to have to shove that aside for one thing. Well, multiple things from the look of things. He had set in mind to check on a student or more who would find Botros' passing too much to bare here as he made his way over. Only to hear a not so pleasant tone from Miss Franks-Mundie. Welp, so much for pleasantries.
"Now what's going on here, everyone?" Justin rounded on everyone. C'mon, out with it if you don't want to pretend everything's peachy keen.
As much as Hugo wanted to keep discussing an interesting topic with Cornelius, it would have to wait since Nat, apparently just lost her mind. Like, really what was her problem? What has he done to her? Not saying 'hi'? It was not a crime, it's not like he has done something mean to her. No need to be throwing him pumpkin juice. Cornelius understood the hair issue, would she like to have her long hair covered in juice? Maybe she needed Roman here. Probably. He was glad he wasn't though, not that that would change his mind he didn't care anymore about trying to get her to like him. But yeah, he just wanted to keep things as normal as possible but it looked like it wouldn't go that way.
Hugo rolled his eyes at her comments. "Just calm down. What have I done to you anyways?" really. Hasn't he been nice all this time to her? Girls were weird. On the other hand, he was glad that Cornelius and Maggie had stood up for him. And then, their Head of House appeared. Well...."People like to throw pumpkin juice" mhm.
Puff by day, snake by night | Mj's bestie | Always UP to Something...
The head of house showing up wasn't what she had planned on. Her mood had just gotten worse. She glared down the table as a warning look to Hugo. She had a nice secret she figured his friends would love to hear if he threw her under the bus with McLead. Hearing Maggie her brown eyes snapped up. " This has nothing to do with Roman so don't even dare bring him up." Control your friend Hugo!
Then there was Hugo's words. Calm down? She knew she was being dramatic, but she felt she was in the right here. He deserved what he got. "You know what you did." Stopped talking to her, was refusing to be her friend. She huffed and glared as he spoke to their head of house. Though when she looked up at McLead you gave her best innocent look.
" Oh nothing is going on sir. Our wonderful prefect was just having me help him show younger students how not to act." Her eyes glanced again at Hugo. " Are we allowed to head to the common room?" She was ready to get the hell out of there.
Cornelius Orion Baltazar was OFFENDED on behalf of his Prefect. Did Nat not recognize Hugo's awesomeness? This was BLASPHEMY.
Gosh. So much offense.
"He gives GREAT advice, Natalia," Cornelius said, burned by her comment. And honestly it broke his tiny little heart. He shot her a kicked-puppy look before she turned around.
Boyfriends were brought up by Maggie and then their Head of House appeared. Cornelius wanted so much to throw Nat under a bus. He wouldn't blatantly do it just because she was a Slytherin, and Slytherins did not cause other Slytherins to lose house points.
"He is, indeed," Cornelius added to what Nat said, mimicking her innocent little look. "Hugo is such a fantaaaastic Prefect he is also teaching us how to dry pumpkin juice from our hair when mean girls dump in it on you. Isn't that right, Na-ta-lia." BROWS and a SMIRK for YOU.

It didn't take long for Justin to catch the hints. Wasting juice from one onto another.. You know, perhaps there was a reason for this former Slytherin having to deal with a more serious encounter earlier. This made him nearly laugh at the comparison. But he didn't. "Well, glad to see you're all handling this rather maturely like the snakes we are." Nothing to raise his voice over. Good.
"Now if that's all, then I think we've had enough excitement for the evening. You may head to the common room if you're finished with your meal." Except, "Ah, but new students be sure to follow Miss Lynch and Master Foster who will lead you to the dorms." What a night.

What exactly was going on here?!
One moment she had been eating her salad and chicken and the next she had seen Nat get to her feet, walk towards Hugo and pour pumpkin juice over his head! Hady stared at one of her close friends and band mate in shock. She knew a bit of what had happened between the two but it had been awhile ago already so what was this all about now.
Pushing her plate back a bit she rose to her feet to find out. The situation was handled already by Quirley and their HoH had arrived as well. Hady kept quiet for several moments her eyes landing on Hugo and seeing that he was alright and handling the entire situation rather well she gave him a small smile. After she had made sure all the new snakes were settled in she would speak with him. As for Nat, hopefully she could speak with her even sooner.
Hearing their HoH announce they could all leave to their dorms was a good thing. At least right now. "As our Head of House has just said, I'm Hady Lynch, all first years and any new students please follow me up to the common room and dorms now. If you're not finished you can remain here a bit longer with Hugo," she spoke up loud enough to be heard by them all while glancing at her fellow Prefect to make sure that it was okay with him. She was pretty much finished eating and keeping him and Nat apart right now was probably for the best. "Nat, walk with me?" she whispered softly glancing at her friend.

Oh if looks could kill Cornelis might have not been sitting where he was at the moment. Third year probably needed to watch it for awhile. "Yeah... So fantastic." As innocent as she was trying to make herself be she couldn't keep the sarcasm out of her voice nor the looks she was giving the third year hidden. Mean girls, she wasn't a mean girl, not unless she was pushed AND SHE WAS PUSHED! not really, but yeah
Quickly getting up she turned to leave, but heard a whisper and blinked. Her eyes turned to Hady and a frown hit her. She was really going to have to explain herself to the band wasn't she? UGH, professors didn't know stories, but bandmates did. This wasn't going to be fun.
Wasn't she going to meet up with Vince and Sha? Her eyes scanned the lion table before turning back to her friend. "Yeah, I'm coming." A glare at the group that were sitting so closely together she turned and headed out with Hadly and the other snakes.
