The house-elves have been hard at work, leaving the Great Hall spotless, the tables set with pristine silverware, and delicious smells floating up from the kitchen. Your stomach might be growling, but it isn't quite time to eat yet.
Hopefully the Headmaster will make his speech before you chew your way through your House table.

Merlin, she was pretty. Like a Raven haired ANGEL. The likelihood of that was slim, but still. Dora felt drawn to her. Maybe she was weird. That could be why Dora made a beeline for her? Whatever the reason, the fourth year found herself standing in front of the new arrival... eyes wide and staring, an outstretched hand, and a rather grim set to her mouth. Totally normal.
"You're new. " NAILED IT!
June wasn't really paying attention to anyone at the table. The likelihood of her making friends was rather slim, so she wasn't really trying. She was busy looking at everything. From the food to the ceiling to the teachers and back again. But that had stopped when she noticed a girl standing in front of her, staring.
.....
She stared at the girl and glanced at the hand that was stretched out for her. She ignored it and looked at her again. "You're weird," she replied in a similar tone, expression plain. What other observations could they make?

Translation: Go back to your own house table.
As for said new Slytherin, Maggie decided she was worth introducing herself to. She HAD been sorted into Slytherin after all. That had to account for something. "Hi. I'm Maggie." Pause. "Magdalena Traulton, actually, but my friends call me Maggie." She even added a smile for the newcomer. "That over there is my very good friend Hady. She's the new Head Girl." Yes, Hady got a wave and a smile too.
And what was up with Ariadne yelling like that? Maggie wrinkled her nose in her general direction.
That other girl caught her attention when she spoke to the younger girl that had been staring at her. So, house rivalry was a thing... She kinda liked that blonde girl and her scary sweet smile, though she was surprised when she introduced herself to her. Magdalena Traulton. That was quite a name. "... I guess I'll call you Magdalena Traulton, then." Since they weren't friends...
June glanced at the girl Magdalena Traulton waved and smiled to. So, that's what the badge meant. Head Girl. June still didn't know what that meant, but decided she didn't really care either. "Cool," she said flatly.
"I'm June," she said finally, since this was an introduction session. "My friends call me June, too." In case that wasn't obvious.
The GRYFFINDOR heard the snide remark from Zeke's girlfriend, but chose to ignore it. For the moment. She was such a cliché, after all. Attention on the new girl... who was called June apparently.
"I know, " she said with a smile replacing the odd set to her mouth. "You're pretty." More observations! "Ignore the rude ones, they are just too unimaginative to be anything other than a cliché, " she said as she finally blinked and cut her eyes toward Maggie now.

Tak was just going to Cary on minding his own business. It wasn't like he was about to interrupt other people's conversations or anything like that. But as a voice said hello he glances up. It was a girl, obviously someone older than him. He glances to his side to make sure she wasn't speaking and waving someone else before looking at her fully. "....Hello."He had barely whispered the response to her before she started talking about..the ghost?
So there were more ghosts??
...."Who's Peeves?"
Then there was another girl talking to him. Takeru's hazel eyes landed on her. Katy right? He looked murderous??? "I'm not a murderer." His voice barely broke a whisper.

Toddles is good elf. Toddles sets up silverware for studenties. Toddles helps. Toddles likes help. Toddles not likes kitchens. Nimma mean to Toddles. Toddles walks ways. Yes Toddles does. Toddles like seeings new masters and mistresses. Toddles sees things Toddles likes.
And so was everyone else including the bloody ghost and a bulb-headed elf. Cornelius flopped in a random seat. "'Sup, guys!" Weren't they all a happy bunch to be back. Oh, and look at that. New faces. Meh.
Green eyes scanned the Hall, looking for Rosie, Katerina and Jaemin. The latter not being at the table. Did that weird girl kidnap his best mate? OH HECK NO. Cornelius would bust out of here and go fetch him all the way to Beauxbatons. He would. And maybe even bonk the girl on the head with his broom.
Oh. Was that Rosie? He needed to talk to her.
His eyes wandered over to the Bloody Baron. While he was focused on Miss Rula, then Cornelius would make a quick escape. "Hey, Toddles, cover for me, homie."
Quirly is here. Quirly sees Toddles too. Quirly has her spatula. Quirly has her spatula like always. Quirly is checking to see if alls is well. Masterses and Mistresses are eating good. Good. "Can I helps me Masterses and Mistresses?" Quirly is wanting to helps evenryone. Quirly sees studentes eating.

"You can hack it. I mean, you have to be pretty completely awful and get someone killed to be kicked out of Hogwarts. Or you have to be a miniature Dark Wizard or something." We did visit the Eiffel Tower. It looks especially cool at night!" She raised her eyebrows as Katy told of her own vacation. "The Maldives...that sounds like a really cool vacation." Ariadne had never been there. Ariadne had never HEARD of The Maldives. She didn't say that to Katy, though.
"Well...another year, another new set of professors," she said, glancing up at the staff table. "What are your electives?"
It sounded like a standard tourist type trip, not that Katy was complaining. Just because Paris was old hat didn't mean that it wasn't totally beautiful and interesting when they were there. And the Eiffel Tower probably was super pretty at night. "Did you do any shopping, though? That's the best part about going to Paris. They have the best shops."
The Maldives, though, were lovely... except for the whole thing where Katy's family had been there. Sometimes having such a big and boisterous and involved family was the absolute pits. "They're nice this time of year. We have a family home there." She dropped her elbows on the table and gave Ariadne a long look. Professors... didnt matter. The curriculum was always the same. "I'm taking everything I can! Finally!"

Lyra listened to Katy and processed what she was saying knowing that both of her parents have messed with Dark Magic in the past and she was quite intrigued with it herself, but knew deep down she didn't have a good enough handle on any of it to attempt it. She really did want to avoid the Military school because of how strict it was and if anything she knew that would break her.
"I don't think I could really ever kill someone, just maybe torture them badly if they were hurting a friend or something but never kill them." she said with a slight smirk. "I think we can be friends Katy, if you want to be and have some good fun this term."

Hugo watched the Sorting and quickly remembered that time when he was a firstie and he was eager to know his house. Even though he would have preferred going to Drumstrang at that time. He wasn't old, right? He was starting to liiive. Yeah.
A short reply from Brooklyn it's what he got and it didn't surprised him considering he had always think of her as a mysterious person but what did suprised him was Maggie's greeting. A kiss on the cheek? "Who would have said you will be greeting me so lovingly?" it was his charm, he knew that. Anyways, answering her question "I went to Cairo with Dante. We visited Bella" he nodded. It had been a cool trip. "What about you two?" he also wanted to ask something to Brooklyn but that would be for later.
He had noticed Nat since he walked into the Great Hall but it was kind of awkward. Not that he hated her or anything but he just didn't wanted to say hi to her. Feelings, okay?!. He looked back at Hady, "The perfect couple. Head Boy and Head Girl" it was funny.
Then, more people started to come in. The Bloody Baron was here "Hello Sir. How are you?" he nodded at him. And then looked at a first year (Alyce) who happened to be talking to him. Badge male person? Okay. "Hey there" smiled "I'm Hugo" and there was Oliver too. Hugo gave him a what's up nod.
There were new professors as always but this time it was like a whole new staff there, really, but gladly Myers was still here and Hirsch too. After a little while the speech finally happened and the feast began. Thank you. But first, he saw a suspicious Cornelius. "Where are you going?" said in a curious tone.

It was nice to see the prefects doing their best to welcome others. And not just the prefects were doing this. What a proud house, this was. Without the mushiness or loudness of certain houses. tut, tut. Those who acknowledged his presence with a gesture or comment, received one just as blunt. He was once a man of a few words and that had yet to change.

"I..." Her voice cracked slightly, so she paused for a brief second to swallow, hoping she could hold back the tears until this was over, though her voice was still a little shaky. "Just the loo, sir." Seemed like the safest spot where no one would bother her for awhile.
Rula simply nodded at whoever had asked if she was okay. She was determined to just focusing on the Baron for now, instead of looking to see who may or may not be staring. Making a scene hadn't been on the agenda tonight. She just wanted to go somewhere and cry in peace, please.
Just from the look of her, the Baron did not need to see anymore. Goodness, pull yourself together girl. On another day this would have annoyed him, but he was in one of his best moods so he merely gave her a sharp nod. His chain rattled slightly, "You're excused, but do hurry back. You can not skip a meal." He would be sure to inform their Head in case she was missing for too long.

What? HMM?
Cornelius stopped, tip toes in progress. The Bloody Baron was far too dead to spot him, but Hugo was ever so alert. That's why he made the best Prefect ever. M'hm.
"Hey, Hugo. Just trying to sneak away to another table," he replied. "Have you seen a pretty blonde Hufflepuff with blue eyes about yay-high?" He raised his palm at about Katerina's height. There were too many blondes around he couldn't spot his.
Huh. Well she wouldn't have known the girl for her first four years, but she should have known her last term, except perhaps Sky would just chalk it up to herself being new and nervous and anxious and taking it all in. Now that she was adjusted to the castle, maybe she was just more able to meet new people. "Oh, okay." She bit her lip and shook her head. "No, I'm not new. I'm a second year" Clearly the coolest class, not that she was bias or anything, except she totally was. Now where was Vivian and Junia to back her up on that?
Oh there was their other prefect, Hugo, making his appearance. She gave him a friendly smile when he welcomed them back, but didn't really say much more than that because well.. he didn't really know her. Yet.
Second year? Niomi is surprised she hasn't seen her around before. They were even in the same house! Very odd. "Oh wow! Second year. You liking it at Hogwarts and being a Slytherin," Niomi asked Skylar. Who wouldn't love being apart of this fabulous house?! Slytherin was the best. Now that would start something between others from the other three houses, but Niomi didn't care. She did think Slytherin was the best.

Her bandmate looked awesome at head girl and she was happy to see her sitting at the table.
Hearing a voice Nat looked up and an amused smile crossed her face. Should she go along with it? Say she was new? As fun as it would have been and Roman would love hearing about it she decided not to. She wasn't fully in the mood for it and someone would call her out on it. She had many friends sitting at the table and others new her from The Sirens. "No I'm not new. In your year actually." She had seen the girl around even if they had never spoke.
Just as she was going to say okay and move near Hady, the one person that could make her stay exactly where she was walked into the room. Her eyes fell on Hugo, "I think I'm good right here, but thank you."
Has Niomi not been paying attention to the other students at Hogwarts or is she blind and forgetful? This was the second time this night she meet another Slytherin who has already been going here and is NOT new. Niomi thought for a little on what she was doing last school year? All she could remember is studying and doing homework. Did she consume all her time with school work instead of meeting new people and making friends? Yes, but this year that was not going to happen. NO WAY! "Forgive me. I spend so much time last school year studying," Niomi told her. How embarrassing. The girl probably seen her around as well.
Niomi was slightly disappointed that they girl didn't accept her invite, but that was okay though. It's nothing serious that Niomi should take offense to. Without realizing it, her smile dropped a little. She put the smile back on her face and said, "Yeah." After a small quick pause she continued to ask, "Everything okay? I don't mean to intrude or be nosy. I just wanted to make sure nothing was badly wrong." Niomi didn't want to embarrass her self again or be known as the nosy girl. You need to calm down Niomi! "And just where do you think you're going, young lady?" Did he need to beckon their head over? He was thinking so. She had better be making a quick trip to the ladies room.

He nodded towards her and she seemed too perky that term started. Didn't she miss summer? He knew he did. Ready for a great term? Eh it still felt the same. Everything blended in together. He rolled his eyes not really in the mood. He was more hungry than in the mood to talk. He was still people watching if that is what you call it.
He noticed someone familiar. He grinned when he saw Dora made her way over the snakes. He saw she was talking a new girl it seemed. He waved to her and she would make her way over soon. He was in no rush. After seeing Dora he saw another familiar face. He beamed when he saw...wait what's her name..? He saw her face and then it clicked. Niomi. Yeah it was a weird hence why he remembered it. "Hey Niomi." he greeted her with a nod. "How have you been?" He hadn't seen her in a while. Last time they chatted was....man he couldn't remember.
Now seeing his male perfect (Hugo) he gave him a sup nod. He seemed energetic too for a prefect. Guess it was in the job description for the first years anyways. After seeing everyone chatting, he felt this cold chill. He shivered and then he turned to his right and saw the Bloody Baron. He chuckled and wished Mason was here. She would be his partner in crime. The best leading house? He couldn't argue there. "Tell us something we don't know Baron.." he commented.
It has been a while since she has seen Colt and she was shocked he remembered her name. "I've been good. Been busy catching up with family this summer," she told him. "How have you been? Had a good summer I hope."

Ariadne paused in mid-conversation to collect a plate of food and place it in front of her. She took one look at it then turned back to her conversations. Before she could say anything, though, she noticed Hady a little ways down the table. "Hey, Hady!" she said, smiling at the older girl. Ariadne had always looked up to Hady. She was a good role model to have! "Congrats on getting Head Girl! I called it!" And she had, too. Hady deserved it!
...and just where was Cornelius going? Hadn't he landed himself in enough trouble sneaking off already? Heh.
Ariadne took a few bites of her meal before noticing the new girl she'd seen a few minutes earlier (Lyra). She was smiling her way, which prompted a smile from Ariadne, too. "Hey, what's up?" she greeted. "I'm Ariadne Greingoth. Welcome to Slytherin. You'll love it here." It was, after all, the best. Ariadne would have been devastated had she not gotten into the house her entire family had been in, save for maybe one or two people.
Then there was Nat, who was assuring her there was nothing wrong with being social. "I don't think so either. I'm already having a lot more fun, and the school year just started," she said. Her first two years had been good, but they had been socially boring, if that made sense. Ariadne's eyes widened in interest as Nat talked about her summer job. Working at a music store sounded like a lot of fun, and she bet Nat got to meet tons of people. "That's so cool, and tenth out of fifty is really good!" Tenth out of ten wasn't so good, but out of fifty? That was probably hard!
Ariadne nodded when Katy asked if she'd been shopping. She actually had been shopping while in Paris. It made her feel super cool to be a teenager and roam the streets of Paris with shopping bags dangling by her side. "I sure did! I went with my sister, Sierra, when my mom was busy with her potions," she replied. Who knew what her father had done during that time. She was pretty sure he'd just tagged along with her mom, even though from what she'd heard, her father was pretty terrible at potions when he'd been here at Hogwarts.
It sounded like Katy had been shopping there, too! "What's your favorite shops there?" she asked. She nodded along as Katy described The Maldives. A family home seemed really nice and expensive! "We have a few of those, too." And they did. Just not in The Maldives. Despite the fact that she had a spoonful of potatoes in her mouth, Ariadne managed to wrinkle her nose at Katy's latest comment. "Everything?" she asked. "Eww. I hate Runes, but maybe I'll give it a go and see what this new professor's like."
If smiles were visible on ghosts. "Good evening to you Miss Lynch and Master Foster. I certainly am well and ready. By Merlin I do declare that you'll both serve our house well at this rate." Keyword, don't mess up. He would keep extra watch on them. As well as with those youngins.

Hugo smiled. Of course Hady and he were going to do a good job this term. Duh. "We'll do our best" yes. And then nodded at the Baron, "Have a good evening"

Brooklyn’s quietness betrayed nothing of the thoughts that were currently going through her head. It rarely did, anyway. She was fairly certain most people just thought she was observing everything, which, in a way, she was. Observing and making her decisions on the importance of whatever it was. Such as little Alyce, already having made a better impression on her than Leesha had. As a matter of fact, she agreed with the tiny redhead. The compliment was the truth, but that didn’t mean she didn’t appreciate hearing it. Especially when others could hear as well, and she knew it had to have been heard. The thank you was more of a gift than anything else, coming from her. The first lesson, if she wanted to look at it that way.
Besides, there were other distractions, both in the form of the two people sitting by her as well as the arrival of the Bloody Baron, Rula’s attempted escape (which in some ways Brooklyn understood, even if she’d never admit it. She didn’t feel that everyone needed to know her personal life.), house elves and the food. Not to mention she was still interested in how easily she’d manage to get the new professors on her side, if they’d respect her as they ought to. Oh, and the matter of Peeves, as the Baron alerted them to the poltergeist’s presence elsewhere.
Back to the two next to her, and she had in fact noticed Maggie’s little show of greeting Hugo. She knew that was what it was, even if nobody else did. At least, nobody else suspected to her knowledge. Her secrets were still relatively safe.
“I went to California right after the train got back to London after last term. I stayed there for a couple weeks, and a trip to the Grand Canyon,” she replied, reaching over to serve herself some vegetables and a bit of chicken. The Grand Canyon trip which hadn’t worked as the distraction she knew her family had wanted it to be, and she also wasn’t going into the reason for the trip as a whole. She knew who knew that, and she wasn’t inclined to reveal it to anyone else. Maggie and the others could choose to believe what they wanted to.

"Yeah last year was rough with owls, but I guess all the studying paid off." She did better then she expected so she wasn't going to complain. "New year new beginnings, right?" At least that's what everyone was telling her, but Nat was just not sure.
Was everything okay? That was a loaded question and she just looked at the girl for a moment. "It will be, just a hard start to term when I want it to still be summer. Many of my friends graduated last term." She was being honest even if she didn't really want to give to much information. "All the new professors up there doesn't make me feel good about the term either." It just gave her anxiety and she wasn't liking that.

Working at a music store sounded like a lot of fun, and she bet Nat got to meet tons of people. "That's so cool, and tenth out of fifty is really good!" Tenth out of ten wasn't so good, but out of fifty? That was probably hard!
She couldn't help but smile as Ariadne said she was having fun. It was nice to see some were even if she was having a slow start to get the excitement of school going. Her eyes glancing down the table once more before turning back to the third year. "It was great. Some of our old housemates game to watch and cheer us on. I loved being on the stage." She wished she could just do it for good instead of being stuck in the classroom. "We are thinking about another gig like we did last term in the room of requirement." Nat was excited that they might be playing again.

Lyra thought those things seem pretty interesting to explore, but really what caught her attention was when she mention she was in a band. " Oh so you are in a bad?" Now that is where it is at." "I absolutely love music even though I don't play an instrument I have been told I do have a pretty good set of vocal pipes." "What sort of music do you play?" I mostly listen to Rock Gothic Music, but if it is done well I can get down with it."
Set the common room on fire? Was this chick or real? Nat just looked at her a bit unimpressed. She swore if the girl tried to set fire to their common room she'd make sure she paid. "Well you might have met your match here. We have plenty of rebellious attention seekers. Plus Peeves is on the top of the prankster list." So the girl had some competition.
Though Nat's smile did grow when the girl showed interest in the band. "I started the band." She said matter a factly. Kali and Ilia had pushed her but this was her baby. She had worked so hard for The Sirens. "It's an all girl band. Most of the group are Slytherins, but our guitarist is a Gryffindor." Speaking of where was Lily? "Oh you do? Well that's cool. Our music room is a great place to work on things. We play everything. It kind of makes us who we are. We all like different types of music so we pick from each other's favorites and make it our own. We have a few writers too so we have some originals we are working on." Recording hers was the best of the best this summer.

She watched the Baron for a few moments before taking her attention back to the boy. "Peeves and Miffy are the stupid poltergeist that cause everyone a headache." She pointed towards the Hufflepuff table where it seemed they were already getting started this term. "Not surprised they are starting at the puff table." They seemed to be the nicest and most tolerant group.
"So what's your story?" She knew he was new but why and from where she wondered.

She deserved it, she really did. She knew he had every right to hate her and not speak to her, but sitting there she was dwelling on the fact he wasn't giving her the time or day. He had always said he liked her, but he always had an obsession for her friends face and he just seemed to always be a bit more full of himself. Perfect prefect Hugo, he was just so perfect at everything. Well Mr. Perfect didn't get head boy now did he?
As she sat listening to everyone her eyes kept going to him. Maybe it was some of the things that went on in the train, but she felt anger all of the sudden. Anger that he hadn't tried to talk to her all summer, anger that he wasn't over it yet.
IT HAD BEEN A YEAR!!!
Her emotions boiled and she picked up her goblet of pumpkin juice and walked over towards him. "So you think you can just walk by me, not speak to at all?" Dumping the pumpkin juice over his head she gave him another nasty look. "Try to ignore that." With a turn and a hair flip she stormed back to the end of the table again and sat down.

Lyra noticed that Nat was kind of unimpressed about why she was kicked out of her last school. "Well on my behalf I didn't set out to set the common room on fire at all. I would never put another person in danger of dying or something like that." The prank went a little haywire like I said, I set a spell to the house to raise the temperature of the house to a very uncomfortable level while locking all the students in the room with no way out for 48 hours." The prank went out of control when it got too hot and something caught fire." The Head Master had to quickly come in and overturn the spell and get the students out to safety." I was expelled immediately." Lyra actually said these things as not being proud as she would never kill someone, but if someone hurt her friend she would definitely find something to make them uncomfortable.
Lyra listened intently as Nat spoke about her band. "That really sounds awesome Nat, I would love to here you play sometime if you and the others wouldn't mind me sitting there listening sometime." "Music is definitely one of my favourite things in the world."
Maggie half-heartedly listened to the beginning of the speech, noting the absence of professor and the addition of quite a great number of new ones. Interesting. Sort of. She'd see them in class surely. Although maybe she SHOULD make an effort seeing as this was her last year here.
A new healer and librarian too? Wow, this Headmaster surely didn't like the old staff, huh?
The last item he addressed, however, was one that had Maggie's full attention. Botros. Right. She'd heard. Of course she'd heard. Her eyes briefly flicked over to the Hufflepuff table in search for Eureka once she'd stood for that moment of silence. Rula too, she'd noticed how the girl had tried to flee earlier.
Over? Okay. Back to the actual feast part of the feast then.

She stared at the girl and glanced at the hand that was stretched out for her. She ignored it and looked at her again. "You're weird," she replied in a similar tone, expression plain. What other observations could they make?

Ah yes, at least the new girl agreed with her there.
Before she could be too smug about that, however, the Gryffindor talked about her. As if she wasn't even there. IGNORING HER. How rude! "Can you be annoying over there?" Maggie waved her at nothing in particular but certainly at something VERY FAR away from where they were here. Like, not here. Not at their table. This was their table. So, shoo.
That new girl was still fairly interesting though. So far so good. "Magdalena it is then." Maggie's lips curled into a small smirk. In a good way. She actually quite liked her full name so there you go. "June."June."Which year are you in, June?" Like, sixth? Or maybe even seventh?
Were they getting ANOTHER dorm mate??

Maybe the kiss on the cheek had been too much.
But Maggie WAS in fact quite exciting to see Hugo again. And she wasn't shy. So there. It worked. Hugo certainly didn't seem to mind it either. She giggled, leaning against his side briefly. "Well, I've missed you." Truth. Right! Cairo. "OOoh. Yes. Dante said. Shame we didn't see each other there. Zeke and I went to visit her, too!" She grinned before glancing around the hall for a moment.
Where WAS Bella anyway? She'd been meaning to thank her again. Hmm.
Even though she'd only included Brooklyn in the conversation for Hugo's sake, Maggie WAS in fact somewhat interested in what she had to say too. Also a liiiiiitttle bit jealous."I was planning on going back to California too this summer but then I just had so many other things to do that I just didn't get around to it." Yes that. She smiled at her dormmate and was about to add something else when-
O___________________________________O
With a shriek Maggie pretty much jumped into Brooklyn's lap to get away from Hugo and the pumpkin juice. What-? "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" She yelled after Nat when the other girl walked off again. What even?!?!?!?!? She would've gone after her too but was afraid to move seeing as there was pumpkin juice not only on Hugo but also on the bench where she'd been sitting.
Okay, maybe she SHOULD get off Brooklyn's lap though.
With a wave of her wand Maggie quickly cleaned the bench so she could sit in her seat again. As for Hugo......Hugo got a confused and unimpressed stare. Like, pls. Maggie was the drama queen here, not him. Know your place, Foster.
While Niomi was talking to the other Slytherin members at the house table she saw two house elves, Toddles and Quirly. "Hello, Toddles and Quirly. How are you?"
Quirly sees a ghostses. Quirly is afraids of ghostses. Quirly is shakings. Quirly had a misstresses talking to her. Quirly answers bestest she cans. "Quirly is busys checkings on the studentes. Does you needs more foods?"
Qurly sees misatresses dump juices ons masteres head. Quirly gasp. Quirly sits goes to clean the messes up. Quirly takes b]towels and cleans ups the messes on the seats. "Master, does you needs a clean ups?" Quirly asks Masters. Whats a messes to clean up.
His eyes wandered over to the Bloody Baron. While he was focused on Miss Rula, then Cornelius would make a quick escape. "Hey, Toddles, cover for me, homie."
Tip toe, tip toe, tip toe.
Toddles hears masters request. Toddles nods and says, "Anything to helps master. Toddles is smalls though. Toddles can not cover master."

Toddles sees Quirly and waves toward Quirly. Quirly is good elf. Toddles knows Quirley.
It has been a while since she has seen Colt and she was shocked he remembered her name. "I've been good. Been busy catching up with family this summer," she told him. "How have you been? Had a good summer I hope."
Colt saw Niomi being shocked that he remembered her name. I mean he couldn't forget a cute face that's for sure. "That's good." he nodded towards her. "I was busy catching up with family too well mostly in Australia. I also did sports camps." He shrugged and replied, "Well my summer was good, I always loved doing to Diagon Alley. One of my fav times of the year.." Who doesn't love Diagon Alley? "You interested in seeing the new professors this term?" He cranked his head to see the Professors table.
That was true. Cornelius rubbed the peach fuzz on his chin. He nodded. "You ARE much too small to cover my new height, Toodles." He had to add that in. Several inches was several inches, okay. "How about you take this to Miss Katerina from Hufflepuff House and tell her it's from Cornelius Orion Baltazar." He brought out a lollipop from his robes and handed it to the elf. "Repeat my message back to me, please." To make sure the elf would get it right.
Hmm.
Turning to Hugo, there was no doubt his Prefect could cover him with is frame. Hugo was like...body goals for when he was older, you know? Cornelius was about to ask for tips when the Prefect asked THAT. The boy's face instantly turned as bright as the Gryffindor banner.
Cough, cough.
"They are very pretty." JUST LOOK AT THEM. The one with blonde hair and blue eyes, specifically.
Cornelius side-eyed his surroundings, catching Ariadne's gaze as he did. He sent her a wave before turning back to Hugo. His face less red.

Katy was no expert on... anything, really, but it was starting to seem like Lyra might be a bad choice in friends. In a world where Katy was supposed to avoid embarrassing her parents, aunts, uncle, grandparents, and rising-star cousins, she needed to avoid trouble, or at least avoid hanging with someone who was likely to get caught.
"That's pretty dark, Lyra. Might want to keep your willingness to torture to yourself." She picked up her spoon and poked the nearest bowl of vegetables. "I'm up for fun, though. What do you have in mind?" Might as well keep Lyra out of trouble... and see what fun was to be had.

"My mum is in Potions too," Katy hedged. Obviously her mum was into a lot more than just Potions, but it was too braggy to say it like that. Besides, at its most basic, cosmetics were Potions. And everyone knew about her mum already, right? So maybe bringing up her mum like this was overkill already? Sigh. Not being braggy was hard.
"I like loads of shops. So there's a few clothing shops we really like, especially 'cause pretty much everything is bespoke but they turnaround time is just like off the rack..." She pinched her bottom lip thoughtfully. Finding new shops was half the fun, honestly. It was hard to pick a favorite when she preferred poking her head into new places. "And yeah, everything for now, although I'm not keen on Divination."

An older girl further down the table upturned a goblet of pumpkin juice on another student, who just happened to be a boy student and a prefect to boot. It distracted Katy from those she was talking to, but only in an extremely good way. Katy bounced to her feet and applauded loudly.

June wasn't picking sides. The younger girl had called her pretty, and her comment about the older girl was pretty funny. The older girl was blonde, pretty, seemed a bit sour, so maybe she was a cliche. But she was also being nice to HER, so... No sides were being taken yet.
"You're still weird," she told the younger girl.
Then she turned to Magdalena, her eyes attracted to that smirk she had on her lips. Damn, that was cool. How did she even do that? "I'm a seventh year. This is my last year." Which was good because she hated school. She had hated it when she was homeschooled, so she would probably hate it now, even though it was a whole new world she was being introduced to.
