| For Nina/ Lucy ★ BabyQuad ★ PERRY THE PLATYPUS ★ Ern's Fave ★ dangerous with brooms ★ The great hall was booming with loud cheerful laughter as students sat around enjoying their breakfast. He supposed that it was cheerful because it was still early on in the school year and no one has gotten too much homework yet.
Hazel eyes flickering upwards at the hourglass Tak didn't really have any intentions of moving. He had eaten his breakfast quickly, out here, his cereal bowl beside him as proof. It wasn't like there was anything super exciting out here. Just the hourglasses- which didn't make much sense to him. But they were curious all the same. What where their purpose? Sure he could ask anyone but he'd rather think it through himself.
So far he has come to the conclusion that they matched the colours of each house but he couldn't figure out why?

She had one of those new classes today and didn't get the chance to make any test runs, so she wanted to head off early to make sure she didn't get lost and made it on time.
But she got distracted. "Tak!" she called as she made her way over to the boy. "Hi! How's school? I saw your sorting! How do you like Slytherin?" Hopefully Tak was a morning person and wouldn't mind answering her questions because she was very excited to catch up with the new Hogwartian.

| ★ BabyQuad ★ PERRY THE PLATYPUS ★ Ern's Fave ★ dangerous with brooms ★ It wasn't very often that He heard his name being called out. In fact, it wasn't often that people called out his name at all. So as the one syllable rang out, Tak glanced up eyes falling on the caller of his name.
Ah. Lucy.
Hesitantly he raised a hand and waved. "Hello." It was about all he could get out before she bombarded him with more things. She had seen his sorting?? She had really been watching???? He looked up at her before uncrossing his legs and standing up. "School is fine. I don't like Slytherin. How are you?"

Lucy knew very little about the house, but she heard a lot of people always saying how all the houses were good. So Tak not liking his? That sparked her curiosity. "I'm fine! About to go to my first Divination class!" Which meant, she was excited and NERVOUS. Mostly nervous.

| ★ BabyQuad ★ PERRY THE PLATYPUS ★ Ern's Fave ★ dangerous with brooms ★ He shrugged. "I don't know anyone there." That was the honest answer. Look at him being all honest. But mostly just because there was no reason or benefit to lying. "Oh. Do you like Divination? I never took that elective." It seemed stupid to be honest. A stupid, pointless class.

She giggled. "I don't know yet. This'll be my first class." Like she said. Silly Tak, forgetting.

Sounded sort of stupid, but he guessed it wasn't the guys fault. "I don't know?" He hadn't spoken to any of the boys he shared a dorm with. And none of them had spoken to him.
Well...duh. "I didn't mean it that way." He mumbled lightly. "I meant- do you like the whole...idea behind it. The point of Divination."

She pressed her lips together in thought. "Yeah! I think...I think it's interesting. She gave a confident nod. Obviously, she needed to learn more to make an informed decision, but it was definitely interesting to her. "You don't?"

Interesting? Really? Tak shook his head. "It's it all about predicting the future? I think that's a little insane."

Interesting? Really? Tak shook his head. "It's it all about predicting the future? I think that's a little insane." Hmm...That was understandable, then. "Try studying with them!" Lucy suggested. "Ask them a homework question, even if you don't need the help." She was good at making friends, she knew all the tricks. "Or eat with them!" It was almost impossible to completely avoid your dormmates here. His classes, even, would be with them, after all. Meeting them would be as simple as sitting beside them one day and sharing gum. "Maybe. But it's cool, yeah?" With her old friends, they'd always try to predict each other's futures. They played with paper fortune tellers, made up things about the lines on their hands, played games to see who they'd marry and what kind of house they'd live in and how many kids.... Now Lucy got to do it for real!

Tak bit the inside of his cheek. He refused to study with other people and in no way planned to ask for anyones help - even if he was faking it."Good suggestions." He said with a nod. The lie easily coming off his lips. The eating with them wasn't such a bad idea though.
It was not cool. But Tak only shrugged. "Would you predict my future?" If he was going to have a seer around him might as well make use of it right?

Sir Nicholas was floating around the castle aimlessly. Up through floors, out through walls. At the sight of the four hourglasses, he paused. He gave a sigh, his semitransparent chest puffing out and deflating, realising that his precious Lion cubs were coming in last.
First he and Lady Helena could not see eye to eye, and now this.
They had quite the dilemma on their ghostly hands. Sir Nicholas and the Friar believing a betrothal between Peeves and Miffy to be the way to maintain the safety of their students, but the Baron and dear Lady Helena believing a betrothal to be more dangerous. It was a dismal situation.

| Zombie Apocalypse Team Leader ★ ★ in a crown of pepperoni and artisan cheese Olivia could never be accused of being super aware of house point gain and loss. Though she would argue that any competition was healthy, there was just a general oversight when it came to the Hogwarts House cup. See, there was already so much going on at their school that it seemed kinda trivial, in retrospect.
.... but the gigantic hourglasses were absolutely GORGEOUS, the blond would admit! And the precious gemstones within... In made her inner princess flail and SQUEAK with excitement. Rubies, Emeralds, Sapphires, and TOPAZ, OH MY! Quote:

She moved towards them seeing as they were kind of in the middle of the hallway. "whats going on around here. .. or am I going crazy??

| Resident Ghost of Gryffindor | Chivilrous & Sociable "Hello there young Olivia," Sir Nick said, turning to see a student from House Gryffindor approach. The two turned to three at the approach of young Echo from House Slytherin. "Sir Nicholas, if you don't mind, Lady Duchannes," he replied, without his usual proud tone when correcting people who continued to attempt to take away his knightly title, of Sir Nicholas. With the thought of falling out with the Baron and Lady Helena on his mind, the correcting of his name was not his current priority.
He clasped his semitransparent arms behind his back deciding to entrust the predicament to both Olivia and Echo. "You were both at the Start of Term feast I trust? What are your thoughts of the betrothal of Peeves and Miffy? There is quite a separation between us ghosts at present, and I would be most obliged for your esteemed opinions."

| Zombie Apocalypse Team Leader ★ ★ in a crown of pepperoni and artisan cheese To be honest, Olivia didn't suspect a thing with all the sudden happenings around the school. Or, not so much happenings but ... Well, she just didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Hogwarts was always a crazy. So... It didn't seem out of place to her?
In response, she was giving the older Slytherin girl, WHO SHE TOTALLY KNEW THE NAME OF due to how lovely she was, a rather confused look. Whut? Why would she have been going crazy? Huh?
... But then Sir Nicholas was asking for THEIR opinion and Liv couldn't help but to stand a little taller, her chest definitely puffed out. Heh, she liked to be held in esteem. Just so. "Oh, Sir. Nicholas. I find it completely harmless, personally. I mean, everyone deserves to find that one special person they can be with forever and ever, amen." That one person they could live out their Happily ever after with... "But also, I feel like bad stuff could happen if people are too opposed." She'd seen many a movie with vengeful, scorned 'people in love'. Funny how love could either make one really happy or COMPLETELY nutso.

Harvey overheard Sir Nicholas (he could have to remember to only call him this to his face, it would be so difficult after hearing of the ghost as 'Nearly Headless Nick' at home for so long!) ask another student (Olivia, was that her name?) about the engagement.
He totally agreed with her answer. "Hello, Sir Nicholas," Harvey said as he walked up to them. "I couldn't help but overhear your conversation, and I hope it's all right to say, but I think Olivia here is right. Having someone always beats being alone, and even if they cause some mayhem, really, if they're happy, does that really matter? They'd cause mayhem anyway."

Sit Nicholas regarded Olivia's response. "I quite agree, Lady Phillips. Quite agree. But, you see, us house Ghosts have become split with our beliefs. I, of course, believe we should support the poltergeists for exactly those reasons. I'm just wondering what other's ponder on the betrothal."
At that moment, a young man Sir Nicholas had seen around but not yet spoken to arrived. Nick gave a gentle bow, his hand holding his head into position. HE knew of Sir Nicholas's title. "Hello there young man. What, pray tell, may I call you?" he asked. He liked being able to greet people by their names. "They WOULD indeed cause mayhem regardless, quite right young man."
And this had another pause of the ghost. "What do you think we can say to people to have them believe this as well?" He really thought Lady Helena would be of agreement that people... things, really, deserved love. It was a shock that she disagreed with him. And with the Baron, of all people! Merlin.

Harvey almost blushed. He'd heard so much about Sir Nicholas he'd felt like he'd already known him, and he totally forgot to introduce himself! OOPS! "Sorry, Sir Nicholas. I'm Harvey Jarvis, first year Ravenclaw. I'd heard so much about you from my sisters I forgot to introduce myself! All three of them were in Slytherin though. They've all graduated."
He thought hard about the ghost's question. What could you say to change people's minds indeed? "You can't always change people's minds. Or ghosts'," he corrected himself. Did that make a difference though? Ghosts were once people anyway so they probably thought in the same way right? "But I guess trying to emphasise the need for tolerance and being open-minded? That's true for love as well as for anything else. And it's what the Sorting Hat and this school always preach anyway, right? So it would make sense that the school's oldest residents share those views. And hope that that would give them enough to reconsider."
Harvey was a big fan of open-mindedness and tolerance. Having grown up being so different from his family had always made him want to be accepted, and he tried to accept others too.

Not only had he AGREED with her, which Liv obviously loved since it made her feel super validated, but he was also totes well-versed in the ways of free will! Just look at him preaching about tolerance and open-mindedness! She wanted to squish his adorable little cheeks! Potential ickle alert! The blonde would most definitely be keeping eyes on him. You know, to see if she wanted to collect him. Him being Harvey, as he'd just introduced himself. Precious. "I'd definitely have to agree with Mr. Harvey, Sir Nicholas." So, SO precious. "It's definitely not easy to change someone's mind who is set in their opinions, but maybe approach them in a different way with the information? I mean, no one should immediately try to discourage and berate someone's opinion just because it differs from their own, because that tends to lead to arguments and ugly words. But if you assure them that you understand where they're coming from... AND THEN, offer your own thoughts on the matter... that could inspire a dialogue about the pros and cons." A dialogue. Her aunt said that all the time. "I think if you can point out that nothing would really be lost or compromised, people might be more open to the idea of it!"

Strange? Olivia seemed strange though. In a good way. Harvey couldn't help but smile at her strangeness. "That's sounds like a good way of approaching it," he nodded, agreeing with her again. "The most important thing, Sir Nicholas, is not to get carried away with emotions and start arguing about right and wrong, but try to just... talk about it."
That's how his Mum always insisted on sorting out any disagreements. No yelling. Ever. While he sometimes felt yelling would be good, cold logic was often a lot better and more effective, he thoughts, seeing the issues hot-headed arguments caused in his friends' families.

Sir Nick smiled at the young, very polite, Ravenclaw. "At your service, Master Harvey." But now that he'd been introduced, Sir Nicholas bounced the surname off his tongue. "Jarvis, Jarvis, Jarvis," and at the mention of three sisters in Slytherin, Sir Nick raised a pointed finger. "Yes! Merlin, nobody can accuse Sir Nicholas of forgetting a student. Kaylie, Isabella and Teresa?" he asked.
The ghost's full attention was on the two students, who were giving him some very sound advice. "Ahh yes, quite right" he said, realising he was going about this the wrong way. "Tolerance, an open-mind, pros and cons... of course, not get lost in emotions, and nothing shall be lost or compromised," he repeated in a quiet mutter, a method Sir Nick used to remember things. "Astounding advice, my friends. I will use this in my quest to assist with the betrothal of Peeves and Miffy." Once he was to find the Friar he could relay this information, and the two of them would be prepared to speak again with the Lady Helena and the Baron.

Nobody had told him ghosts had such amazing memories! "You remember them? That's amazing!" he said with a grin."I wish I had a memory like that..." I hope it works, Sir Nicholas! Good luck!" he added, as the ghost nodded to himself as he considered their arguments. He did really hope he had helped at least a bit.

It was not cool. But Tak only shrugged. "Would you predict my future?" If he was going to have a seer around him might as well make use of it right? Lucy nodded. They WERE good suggestions. She was very good at making friends, Takeru. HE was an example! "Hope Slytherin gets better for you, then!" Because she obviously expected him to follow her advice. She also expected him to report back to her how it all went.
And then introduce HER to his new friends so they can all be friends together! "Sure!" she exclaimed. She probably wouldn't be very good at it, but she'd do him any favor he wanted. Plus, it was all fun!
