The windows are open and a crisp fall breeze is blowing through the Arithmancy classroom in preparation for another day of learning. Professor Domingo, clad in earth tones to match the season, stands near the front of the room shuffling her notes to be organized and ready for today. A notice is written on the chalkboard in her handwriting: "Take out the list of three people I asked you to prepare and set it on your desk."

OOC: You may RP chatting, but please nothing excessive. The lesson will begin in a few hours.

"Now clase, we must talk about the Life Path calculation. We use the full date of birth, including the month, year, and day. So for instance, Harry Potter." The perfect example, since so many people knew his birthday. "Born the 31st day of July in 1980. Turn all of that into numbers: 31 for the day, 7 for the month, and 1980 for the year. Then reduce as we just practiced."

She pointed her wand at the board and made the calculation appear.

Ian listened with hopeful expectation for a response about the purpose of master numbers, but alas, the profesora felt the information too much for today's lessons. Ian considered a follow on question, but she moved on with the topic of today's lesson. Ian tried to hide his disappointment and decided to take the opportunity later to read up on this topic. This one didn't seem much interested in teaching but more interested in sticking to a lesson plan.

Ian observed the equation and looked down at his list. Shouldn't be too much of a problem. He set about the equations for each.

Ian noted that 11 was a master number, but the professor reduced it. He shrugged and decided not to mention it. Maybe there was a special exception for Harry Potter.

Adding numbers, AJ could totally handle that. She listened as her question was answered through Ian. They would be learning more about the master numbers another time. Fine by her. She just wouldn't worry about that now. AJ stared at her list for a moment, and started doing the calculations. It was kind of cool to see the life paths of others, and how they compared to her. Sort of Divinationy. Heh.

Ooops.

Ben had honestly forgotten all about master numbers. Adding them into his notes for future reference and to avoid further mistakes in his calculations, he further moved on to follow the professor as she spoke up Harry Potter's life path number. It all looked good until they got to the last couple of lines.

Wait...wasn't 11 a master number?

Why then was it reduced?

The fourth year raised his hand, waiting until he was called upon to ask his question. "Um professor...was there any reason why you reduced the 11 that time? I thought it was a master number and to be left alone."

Oh, haha, they were meant to be calculating the dates. Something had already told her that was the point of this lesson and now she was almost sorry she hadn't put more effort into finding out calculations; almost. It was still more effort than it was worth for numbers that probably weren't right anyway--like back in her second year when they talked about marriage. Yikes.

As it was, she only had her father's numbers to work through and she was willing to bet the rest of her galleons for this term that whatever it said, it wouldn't be right. Numbers lied. Professor Hadley used to say they never did but she knew better.

After heading back to her seat, Lux listened as the Professor continued with the lesson. Everything made perfect sense to her because she had read the textbook and remembered practicing reduction last term. The Master Numbers were kind of confusing, but nothing to worry about since it sounded like they would be covered in the future.

The Harry Potter calculation was one that she could have done herself easily, but review was always nice. She was glad that Professor Domingo was doing it for the new students as well as the ones who struggled with Arithmancy. She herself struggled with aspects of it though the reduction part wasn't too bad. Nor was calculating the Lifepath Number of a person. Grabbing a blank piece of parchment, she did the math for the people on her list:

Zander bit his lip as he began writing down all the numbers. Numbers just didn't come to him as easily as the rest of the hands on stuff did, not that any of that came to him easily either. School was hardwork. Especially the magic kind. He could do the Care of Magical creature stuff though and Astronomy and Herbology. But these numbers were way over his head. Despite this, he gave it his very best shot and fingers crossed he didn't make any blatant mistakes.

Yeah, good thing he didn't bother asking, because she was telling them anyway. Or... kinda. These were SINGLE digits still, and ... they needed three digit numbers.

Zeke supposed all would be revealed, and this was only using the birth dates, the names had to count for something too, no? First and foremost, he coped down the example from the board again. Harry Potter, yeah, he'd read about the dude. The chosen one and how he defeated Lord Voldimort or something. He was cool, had a neat scar too. Maybe seeing as two of his were incomplete, information-wise, MAYBE he could use Potter instead.

Having had no questions, Grayson simply sat back, fiddling with his quill as he did so. His textbook had been opened up to the beginning of the Core Numbers section at some point and he kept glancing over at it. Were they gonna do ALL of these calculations? Cause that was a lot of maths and reductions and dude was starting to get a little hungry.

Oh they were moving ahead? Brilliant! Less time until his next meal AND he could ignore the soft rumbling his tummy was about to make.

And you know what was gonna be interesting about these pieces of calculations? He KNEW these people, meaning that if the textbook said some random nonsense for the numbers, Whitty would know. And judge. Judging eyes for the textbook would be given. So say something COOL for the three people he admired, mkay?

Hady looked down at her list of people. It was time to find each ones life path number. After seeing it all written down on the board and hearing the Professor explain each step she was confident that she could figure this out on her own. Or at least she hoped so.

Taking her quill into her hand once more she began to write on a clean parchment what she believed to be correct.

Were they ready to move on? It appeared that the vast majority of them had finished their calculations. "Now if you will please turn to page seven of your textbooks as you finish up.." She continued circling the room during the inevitable shuffling of books and pages. "The meaning of each Life Path number can be found on this page. You will notice that the meanings for the Master Numbers are at the bottom and also that, in this calculation, the master 33 is not possible."

"So now that you have your calculations and their interpretations, please apply the textbook meanings to your three people. How does the analysis fit with their life outcomes if they have already lived a full life? If they are still alive, what does the analysis predict is yet to come for them?" This was always the interesting part of lessons: getting to see what lay ahead.

"Thanks..." he said simply, feeling like he shouldn't just say nothing. Being a master number, it is reduced no further.


He found it somewhat amusing that Adi and Angel both wound up as the same number. Did that speak something about why they were the two most special people in his life at the moment. His best friend and his girl both being the number 9 for their Life Path Number. Looking it up, he copied down the meaning into his parchment of notes as he read it so he didn't have to keep flipping back to the page.

He could see them following the life paths suggested.

"Six, Seven, Eight," Zahra noted out loud. Inwardly she missed Mikey so much she could hardly stand it.

...eh book work. She gnawed on her quill and flipped to the right page. Ehh. Blah blah blah words words...

"WHAT!?" HAHAHAHAHAHA

....HAHAHAHAHAHAHA "This says MIKEY TOUSSAINT is going to lead a luxurious life with a career in BEAUTY PRODUCTS and DECORATING!" HAHAHAHA She actually kind of forgot he wasn't around and looked for him to LAUGH HER HEAD OFF AT HIM...

But you know. He wasn't there. SO that's okay. She'd just.. "... just wait til I owl him." ...bummer. Owls sucked. Sigh.

Norah placed her quill back on the table at Professor Domingo's suggestion, and opened her text book at page 7. So many WORDS. Sigh. She scanned the descriptions for 7,9, and 11 a few times to make sure they had sunk in, and began to take notes on each.

She smiled to herself, because the life path description for number 7 definitely got the studious part of Marigold right. AND the sharing wisdom part. Heh. She raised her eyebrows at the next number, because it was so accurate it was even a little scary. Love, compassion, and tolerance where DEFINITELY good descriptions of her mother. Even though she wasn't tolerant when it came to hair-brushing and chore-doing, she was pretty tolerant in general. There was really no denying that. Reaching her brother's number's description, her faith in the textbook weakened a little. A charismatic leader? Nahh. Sebastion was the smartest person in the whole entire world, even if he was only 8, but he wasn't exactly the most outgoing guy. He was a much more of a shy little dude. Maybe it was a middle child thing. Ooooh! Maybe he would BECOME all that stuff! And he could teach people everything he read in those boooring books of his and become leader of the universe and make her the queen!. Grinning, she made a mental note to write him a letter about how inspirational he would be one day, mhmm.

Marigold had copied Harry Potter's calculations directly from the board, so she erased those and rewrote 11 as a master number. Oops. She opened her textbook and began reading, then made notes for all of them just in case.

...welp at Zahra. Sadface.

So she got two 9s, her dad and Moo. Looking back at the textbook and her notes, she giggled. It certainly worked for Moo - tolerance for all and things, but it just didn't seem to connect with her dad. Not that he wasn't selfless or anything, but he probably fit better with seven.

...now for Harry Potter's, right? 11. Illuminate humanity. Yadayada, that was obvious. She kicked the back of the chair in front of her and looked around.

Okay. So there were Master Numbers. And they had to consider that when making the reduction method. And...now they had to work on their people Life Path Numbers. Hmmm, let's see what they have to say about their path in life...did it work out for Elisa, is her mother following hers, was Kai going in the right direction? Of course, Arithmancy-ly speaking.

Seis, Uno and Dos. Now, it was time to read the interpretations for those numbers. Peeking into her book, she read carefully into the book. Ay...does this make some sense?

Layla wasn’t really sure why she had fallen behind or how exactly she had become distracted in the last five minutes but she had and the lesson was moving on before she even managed to get her calculations done. The Ravenclaw frowned in response, mostly because she enjoyed arithmancy, or the muggle equivalent and she had never trailed behind before.

She very quickly grabbed her quill and completed her calculations for her dates very swiftly reducing them down into one digit, or one master number if that was the case. She started with her mother and made her way down to her cousin noting that all three were members of her own family. She had thought about including her muggle friends but none were really an inspiration to her, they were just her mates.

Oh thank goodness Sammy was different to the other two. She supposed in some ways that Felix and her mother were very similar, they were both very hard working and everything but Feels was five. He was sort a joke addition purely because he lived in a mad house.

The whole interpretation idea of this subject was very much so like Divination and Layla doubted that any of it was actually true but still she wanted a good grade and so she kept going with her studies and flicked open her textbook to the right page and scanning over.

Vera and Felix Ackerly - 6

My interpretation - My Ma has always been sympathetic towards her children and a very hard worker. She does not work in the service industry as such but she is high up in her industry and offers training to the employees below her. She's also been very good at teaching her two children and getting us all out of the dump we used to live in. As for Felix he is only five and so it is difficult to associate the life path towards him. However I can definitely see him being helpful, the kid is a genius and close to his Aunt who is a Healer.
Sammy Blake - 5
Textbook Interpretation - "You'll have many forks along your path and you'll welcome each change as a new opportunity with unknown results. Change is key and once you've learned this lesson, you'll move on to the next phase - championing freedom. You're progressive and super-resourceful, which make you equally good at many different trades. Career/vocation options include working with the public, advertising, publicity, or sales - any kind of work that calls for energizing power rather than routine. Travel is well-suited to you."
My interpretation - Sammy IS quite energetic and definitely a people-person so he would technically make a great sales-person but I really don't think he'd waste his talents there. He's also well adapted to change, he was far more excited about his whole life being turned upside-down than I was.


All in all Layla wasn't sure whether she believed any of this and whether it was particularly accurate but that was what she thought. Once finished she put her quill down and looked back up for the next instructions.
