Oh. Did they have to stop now? Thank Merlin. Alice would rather be in a dress than dancing right now, and that was something.
"Thanks." She gave West a little smile, then immediately headed over to the appropriate tent, trying to rub the blush off her cheeks all the while. That had been embarrassing. So embarrassing.
And there was more dancing to come after this, which was even worse.
Now... a dress. She was allowed to wear a suit, yeah? Could she? Please?

Ana looked over at Professor Airey with relief when he said they could stop doing the Cupid Shuffle. It wasn't that she hated the dance, it was just repetitive and she was pretty sure she already had it down. If she didn't surely he would have corrected her. Plus less danger of anyone getting hurt from being kicked.
Also, why was Andrew giving her that look? Was she that obvious? Maybe Terry was just oblivious, but in a way she was okay with that. If he was oblivious she wasn't going to clue him in.
WAIT.
Ball gowns? They got to wear ball gowns?
BEST. LESSON. EVER.
Waving at both of the boys, it was polite okay, Ana sped in the direction of the change rooms. It was important that she get a dress that she liked and that would look good on her.
Going through them Ana discarded quite a few before she came to one that she loved. It was relatively simple, not ornate in the slightest, but she thought she would look elegant in it and that was the important thing. It was strapless though so she was glad that she'd chosen to wear a bandeau today. She was also glad that she had experience with tying laces behind her back since the dress had a long line of them.
Ana carefully removed her own clothing items before stepping into the dress and walking to a mirror. Looking in the mirror helped her to see the laces, so she could lace the dress tight enough that it wouldn't fall off her. Because that would be a disaster. Once the dress was on she picked up a pair of silver heels and slipped them on her feet, before testing if she could stand on her tip-toes in them. She could which meant that they weren't too high for her, always a plus. She added a ring before turning to her hair.
She'd put it up in a bun earlier in the day but now she took it down and redid it, turning it into a chignon instead. She gave herself one last look in the mirror to make sure she was satisfied with her outfit. Deciding that everything was perfect Ana walked back out into the hall to await further instructions.

Dora hadn't bothered with finding a partner to practice dancing with since she already knew how and wasn't in the business of teaching, and instead opted to dance alone. Dancing circles around people, twirling and basically enjoying her own company.
Partners were for later, when the actual dancing happened.
Oh, they got to dress up now? Awesome. Dora immediately ceased her solo dancing, and headed straight for the dressing room.

"'s fine." West said to Alice. Helping her or whatever. He tried. Still surprised she was here, even if she was here to scrounge points. Just... yeah. 100 percent hadn't expected her.
Not that he was thinking about that too much right then because hell yeah! They got to actually wear decent clothes! Well that did depend a bit on what Flammy had available but West had faith. The man was into his suits yeah? So surely they wouldn't be sub par... he was just a bit worried about tailoring though, being tall and skinny, total beanpole, he'd have to make adjustments.
BUT HE WAS SO EAGER. Inwardly bounding along, but outwardly playing it cool, West disappeared into the Snake boys tent and spent some time choosing and discarding and being fussy.
But he was entirely in his element. Okay so he personally liked to dress a little snazzier than this but... he found something in the end, that wasn't too garish or anything, actually really liked it. . He took to it with a few charms though, just to make sure the trousers were long enough in the leg and the jacket fit him smoothly. Because these things were important, particularly if he was gonna be dancing.
West reemerged and struck a pose. Yep. He was ready.
Now, did Ana still wanna dance with him?

"Now, where was I..." he said as he hobbled back towards the front of the room. "All of you gave stellar examples of the different forms of dance, however no one mentioned the form that the first dance we will be practicing today is based on - line dance. Those of you familiar with this form of dance probably associate it with Country, but today we will be performing a line dance to Hip Hop music." Wand still out, Airey flicked it and music suddenly filled the Great Hall. "This dance is called the Cupid Shuffle and the dance is quite easy, especially since the steps are said in the song itself. Allow me to demonstrate."
Giving himself enough room, Airey began taking a few steps to the right as he continued to explain. "You take four steps to to your right side... one, two, three, four. Now to the left for five, six, seven, eight. Do whatever you want with your hands and make it your own. Do what feels natural. Just make sure that your steps are four to the right, four to the left." He was going to hold his hands in fists and rock his arms in rhythm with his steps. "Next you're going to do a series of kicks right, left, right, left and try to put a little hop in it if you can," he explained while demonstrating some more. Only his kicks were a bit lackluster in terms of hops. "Last thing you are going to add is some knee movement. You're going to go, with your knees, right, left, right, left while twisting your body left in a modified version of a walk it out. So you go one, two, three, four. At the same time, you're turning to your left. Six, seven, eight," he demonstrated. "And that's it! The Cupid Shuffle. So why don't you all go on and give it a try. Help each other out if you are struggling. This is relatively low impact, so you can adjust things to fit your body."

Go ahead and have your character practice the dance to the music. There are TONS of dance tutorials online if you want to use those to help you with your RPing or do the dance yourself - it's pretty fun :3
You should have at least 2 posts of dance practice. Next instructions will come in approximately 24 hours from the time of this post.
LINE...DANCE...WHAT EVEN...?
Olly groaned while staring at Professor Flamsteed. Groaned LOUDLY. This was stupid. She didn't want to do line dancing. Not to country music. Not to ANY kind of music. And what was this HORRIBLE sound that had just started playing. That was not hip-hop. Not that she was into that but even she knew that this was not strictly speaking hip-hop music.
Why was she here again? Oh right, because of the girl next to her.
Okay, seriously, Schuyler owed her BIG TIME for this. This dance sounded complicated. Olly had already missed the first beat so she had to start with the second set of moves...and why were the other people moving left...this was not how...what was...and she was supposed to do WHAT with her arms?
At some point Olly had just stopped moving altogether after almost falling over when her knee had seemingly just given in. Ooookay, nope, she was not going to hurt herself during dance class. Nope. Why was this dance even part of the class? Shouldn't they be learning how to do, well, traditional kind of dances? Or would they be dancing THIS at that Valentine's event?
If so, Olly would be sitting that one out. Sorry.

And then there were the two chained together and stumbling around in his path. To be honest, Airey really didn't want to even know why they were like that, so he wasn't going to ask. Although he was a bit concerned how the next part lesson would play out. So he just sort of shuffled right on by them before giving his cane two more loud taps against the ground and the music stopped.
"Alright, that is enough Cupid Shuffle for now," he announced. "Time for a bit of a change of pace. Many of you may have been wondering why there are changing rooms in here, and here is why. In order to get a little more into character and stretch our comfort zones a bit more, we need the proper attire. Ladies, if you will please go into the rooms on the left to change, gentlemen on the right. You will all find a variety of ballroom dance gowns and suits in your respective house colors. While traditionally girls would be expected to wear gowns, I will not be making that a requirement today. Same with the, er, boys. If you really want to wear a gown...go for it?" He glanced over at the the tights obsessed Groundskeeper. Except you. Please don't. Nightmares. "Please do not go looking for a partner at this moment. There will be instructions for how to select your partner once we are all changed and ready. Now go on and get changed....except for you two," he said as he pointed to the chained together Slytherin and Hufflepuff. "You two stumble your way over to me."

If you wish to make a Polyvore for what your character is wearing or link to a picture you may do so, but it is NOT required. Remember, house colors are what your characters will be wearing (Gryffindors: Red & Gold, Hufflepuffs: Yellow & Black, Slytherins: Green & Silver, Ravenclaws: Blue & Bronze) Be mindful of SS rules and no hotlinking. Please and thank you
No boys sneaking into girls' tents or girls sneaking into boys' ones please or other houses, just so we are clear <3

YES!
FINALLY the dance was over. For now. Olly attempted to stretch her back by leaning back but stopped once she heard a HORRIBLE crack that clearly emanated from her own body. Wow. Maybe she should see someone about that. Though, looking around, it seemed that there were other people that were even worse off than her. Not that that really matte-
DRESSES WHAT????
Olly FROWNED. Glared even. Flamsteed couldn't be serious. They HAD to wear dresses? Why? This was...not okay. Of course she didn't mind seeing the boys in suits - couldn't WAIT to see that actually. Also Schuyler in a dress. Because Schuyler in a dress was always hot. Actually, Schuyler was always hot, with or without dress...
Okay, now she may have stared at her girlfriend for a second too long. Though, was that even possible?

DRESSING UP ALL FANCY, YES.
Oh Airey, Schuyler was mentally taking back every single bit of blame she put on him for making them do the Stupid Shuffle. Ahem, CUPID Shuffle. Which wasn't even that bad. It was fun once she'd gotten into it. And now he'd announced this. This. Her light blue eyes drifted dreamily over to the changing rooms. All the dresses in there, waiting to be worn. Girls in pretty dresses and boys in dapper suits.
If Flamsteed wasn't already her favorite, this totally would have sealed the deal.
"I've never seen you in a dress, Olly," Schuyler grinned widely, drawing out the second syllable of her name just a tad. Okay, no wasting anymore time. It was time to go get changed. She didn't want to be left with the second-choice dresses, after all.
Helloooo, changing room.
..................great.
Olly narrowed her eyes at the Gryffindor. "There's a reason for that." The reason being that she just didn't like wearing dresses. Obviously. Was there a way around this? A quick look around showed her that most of the girls just looked THRILLED to be wearing dresses. Great. Just great.
AGAIN, WHY WAS SHE HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE?
And she couldn't even join Schuyler in the changing room since they were separated by house (and gender of course). With a sigh and another glare at Flamsteed, Olly eventually made her way over to the 'Puff dressing room.
Maybe if she waited long enough there wouldn't be any dresses left?
Fern was trying to remain inconspicuous by keeping the cowl of her robes up, but it was hard when they had to jog in place. The stupid hood kept on slipping! Letting out an aggravated cry, Fern yanked the cowl back into place and turned to her…dance partner. ”I KNOW how to dance, Cuthbert!” The Hufflepuff hissed, stomping her foot, ”I’m not the oneeeEEEH! STOP STOP STOP!”Fern was not ready! She still had five more shoulder rolls to go! Then there was the stretching! And here was Cuthbert, dragging her across the floor! Did he WANT her to dislocate something? Fern suspected the answer was yes.
And, oh dear Merlin! Here he was going the other way, threatening to trample right over her. Fern scrambled to her feet, just in time to avoid being stepped on, and fell into place with him on the fourth step to the left.
Now for the kicks. Fern was about to aim one in the direction of Cuthbert’s left shin when –
“Ella! Ella, Ella, ELLA!” Forget the cowl. Forget the Cupid Shuffle. Forget trying to perfect her moves so she would be the belle of the Valentine’s Day Ball with Dante Dark as her date. Ella needed her!
The 12-year-old struggled against Cuthbert and the chain, trying to get to the Head Girl.

This was as far as he'd gotten last time, and Tobias had even managed to put in that weird sort of hop with the kicks that he'd seen other student trying. But now it was the stuff with the knees, and... turning to his left?
Toby didn't understand why this was so hard. Airey had SHOWN them what to do. DEMONSTRATED even though he had a BAD BACK. But Tobias couldn't remember, so what did that say about his manners? He couldn't have been paying enough attention to Airey's sacrifice.
He huffed again but this time he didn't even try to stop getting annoyed. Pesky dance and stupid knees and ridiculous music. And he was SO uncomfortable in these darn clothes too. No, Toby was tired of dancing. Exhausted in fact. He moved off to the side and out of the way and sat on the floor, looking slightly disgruntled.
He just needed a moment. A really long moment.
She was shouting and that meant that Cutty was annoying her. Well done. The boy casted a look down at Fern's feet as she began to follow him, but stopped when she stopped and looked over toward the Headgirl. Oh no. Fern was gonna...and she was...PULLING HIM! With her Re'em-like strength. This was about when he'd spotted his little Hufflepuff Mona Lisa...looking not at all the work of art. In fact, Toby looked dark somehow. He HAD to find out what was up with that. Resisting her pull, Cutty began his own tread across the floor making his way over to Tobias.
Then the instructor was calling them over.

Just meant to help loosen people up and help them, maybe, not look like a fool on the dance floor once the student leaders had their event in full swing.
Swing...swing dance...something else he wouldn't mind teaching. But not now. Now with his back and all the creaking and creaking of joints he was hearing from other students.
And yes, thank you Meathead and Mr. Top Hat for once again bringing up the image of the Groundskeeper in tights and a pink tutu. It was bad enough in his head, let's not make it a reality, okay? "If you gentlemen REALLY want to wear tights, you will have the opportunity soon," he said as he performed his to the right to the right to the riiiiiiiight and danced right on past them. "I'd rather you not, however."
Cane clanking against the ground as he moved, he internally winced when he saw Mr. Radley kick another student. He really should have been expecting that to happen, kicks and all. "Be sure you allow yourself plenty of room," he reminded him, and everyone in the general vicinity of the trio. "And WELL DONE, Mr. Ackerman. Truly stellar performance thus far and good advice to your peers. Loosen up and just feel the music. Doesn't need to be perfect."
Oh sweet solstice, not another one. "If you need to rest for a moment, Miss Bishop, please do so," he said as he rested his hand on her shoulder gently. Although perhaps it was time for them to take a little bit of a breather and move on to the next portion of the lesson. Cane still tapping against the ground in rhythm to the beat, he consulted his sundial watch. Oh, yes, should be moving along soon.
And speaking of breathers....
"Miss Paulidine, if you feel you are well enough to move on your own you may be excused," he told the Gryffindor just so she knew he hadn't forgotten about her and her predicament. "If not, sight tight and have some water and if you feel well enough to join us again you may do so but I will still ask the Healer to look at you."
The professor then began making his way back towards the front of the room where all the mirrors were lined up, trying his best not to look at his own reflection because he hated seeing himself with a cane, when he heard Mr. Bart ask about...Charley Brown? Friend of his, perhaps? Not knowing how to respond to him, Airey simply shrugged his shoulders before his attention was drawn to a certain Slytherin Prefect. "Keep it up, Mr. Kinsley," he applauded the boy as he slide right on by. Or, well, slid with some cane tapping.
....step tap tap step tap tap step tap tap....

Cutty stopped his pulling for a moment and nearly lost his footing to Fern's own pulling. He tugged twice at their binding and indicated for her to follow. Did the instructor mean literally shuffle their way over to him? It seemed a shame to waste valuable practice time. So he didn't. Cutty practiced his Cupid shuffle right on over to where Flamsteed was and Fern had better be alert!
"Leo.." Javy nodded towards the man. Naturally he would've returned his friend's wave, but considering these *crick*pop*crack*..much needed shoulder rolls, they had taken a higher priority. Least until the music came bouncing in. Hm. Yeah, he felt like having a little conversation at the moment. "So, are you much of a dancer?"
Well, there was no denying this voice, as he happened to be right by him, "Orsino.." Goodness, how did he miss this guy out of everyone. And what was that about pants? "It's probably for the fancy splits he has planned for us." Maybe, maybe not.

Better if he could hear the man, he was always a good conversationalist.
...Orsino blinked...dumbfounded with how much the Astronomer could talk. He could barely make out anything the man was saying. Next thing he knew, Music started to play and the Creature Prof was beside him answering his question about pants. "Well Javy" He said sounding out the J"In case we need to do them." Mind you he was NOT going to do them "We'd better look the part. How about it Kitridge, you think we shoud switch into tights?" Especially since it seemed that Flamsteed's top priority was the type of clothes they wore, and not how they danced.
Dragging out the warm out routine as he waited for Airey to give more instructions Leo turned to Javy with a shrug. "My mother made me take dance lessons when I was just a kid so I'm decent in some dances I guess but I doubt Airey is teaching out any of those dances." Like the waltz and foxtrot. "How are your dancing skills?" he enquired quietly as Airey demonstrated the Cupid Shuffle dance.
It didn’t seem too difficult at first but when Airey started to add on more moves Leo lost him. He’d just watch the kiddies before he tried it out. Then Orsino came over and interjected in the conversation muttering something about switching into TIGHTS!!!!? Glancing from Javy to Orsino he said uncertainly. "Airey didn’t say we needed tights did he?" Shuddering he added "Let's just wait and see. I think seeing the three of us in tights might spook the kids into getting nightmares." It would definitely spook him.
Imitating a few students Leo started to dance 1.2.3.4 steps to the left and then 1.2.3.4 steps to the right and back.

Lily knew that Austin had caught the look she sent him. She hadn’t forgotten that she had things she needed to tell him too, courtesy of the fact he seemed like he didn’t believe that she would have found a way to make him keep his promise to show up to the lesson, but he’d basically lied from the beginning. It was obvious he didn’t have two left feet, any more than she did now that she’d gotten the dance down. Neither of them had tripped over their own feet, or kicked anyone, or anything else that seemed to be going on around them. It was weird how like two thirds of the people there were either acting like they’d suddenly gone deaf or were getting random pains and injuries. She hadn’t even thought Wizarding people really got old. All those stories about everything Dumbledore did when he was practically ancient came to mind. She imagined he’d never complained of creaking or pain. Therefore, everyone had to be overreacting or something. Maybe they’d drank expired pumpkin juice or something.
Either way, she’d continued dancing in her little square of floor, occasionally watching Austin when she’d been facing his direction, until she’d heard two more loud taps and the music stopped. She continued the steps until she’d finally turned back around to face Professor Flamsteed, though. By now she didn’t necessarily need the music, when it was in her head. What had been said was interesting, too. So they were changing into something more formal. Okay, she thought, biting back a giggle as she momentarily wondered if any of the guys were going to take the professor up on the option of wearing a dress. The groundskeeper had been talking about wearing tights, after all. She’d heard him through the music while she’d been dancing. She kind of hoped nobody did, however, just because she knew she wouldn’t be able to stop giggling if they did. She’d made her way as quickly as she could toward the Claw changing area, anyhow. She didn’t want to get stuck with something weird, and as she went through the selections, she finally found a gown that she liked. With a few sort of bronze-y accessories, a sparkly belt and shoes, she felt like she was sufficiently dressed in Claw fashion and re-emerged. Now she was curious what Austin would have changed into. If it would be anything like what West had apparently found in their changing area. Honestly, she was just curious all around.

They got to dress up? That was so cute. She liked dressing up in pretty dresses. Though she was hoping that there would be some pretty dresses. She would have skipped over to the tent that she had to change in, but she was still feeling awfully tired. So instead she kind of wandered over slowly towards the tent. Grace was hoping that by the time she go there all of the pretty dresses would be gone. She got there eventually though, about 10 million years after everyone. She popped into the tent, and beamed. Pretty dresses! Green ones! She had to wear green because she was a slytherin. But they were pretty too.
A few minutes later Grace reappeared in her pretty green dress. Now what next? More instructions? Smiling, Grace waited.

Wait they had to dress up? Since when was this apart of dance lessons? It was becoming increasingly clear to Austin that he ended up signing up for something that he definitely wasn’t expecting but again, arguing wasn’t happening especially when there was still plenty to explain to Lily after; sure he expected her to be mad but that was all going to be handled later on when they weren’t surrounded by students and professors since no one else needed to know that there was a problem. They could figure it out for themselves after all, though for right now; he needed to go off and change into a suit which of course needed to have house colours. At least it wasn’t tights, that would have been where the line was drawn seeing as there was absolutely no way that the sixteen year old was about to get into that territory, it could have been left for the groundskeeper seeing as this wasn’t ballet and even then; that was a whole other discussion.
Walking into the Slytherin changing area, he quickly looked over what was there before picking out a Slytherin coloured suit and re-emerging to notice Lily in her blue dress; of course blue suited her and honestly she looked beautiful. At least the suit wasn’t too bad after all though green and silver together didn’t exactly work for something formal. Now the question was what next? They were all dressed up, did that mean it was going to be a waltz, or something fancy like that? Unfortunately it was time for patience and that was never his forte.
As Ana stood around in her gown, she really wished she could keep this, she looked for people that she knew that she might be able to speak too. She'd already caught up with a lot of people this lesson, even met some new ones, but it seemed most of her friends were still getting changed. That was when her eyes landed on West. A West who looked like he was alone.
Ana looked around quickly, attempting to find scary girl Wests girlfriend. She couldn't see her so she must still be getting changed. Ana gently bit her lip as she weighed up her options. He had said he'd dance with her, and she did kind of want to dance with him, since he was apparently good at it, but she doubted his girlfriend would be pleased. But if she went over to him and asked before Alice came out of the changing room then than would make things less awkward for Ana...
After another quick glance around the room Ana made her way over to West, making sure that she didn't step on the hem of her gown and fall as she did so. Because that would be too embarrassing for her to live down. Therefore not going to happen.
"Hi," she said simply upon reaching him, giving him one of her best smiles, and noting that his suit was quite well fitting. It suited him.
Sarah concentrated on the moves. It was so easy, 1,2,3,4 steps to the right, each one with a slight bend and then four steps to the left. Then the kicks in the air. This reminded her of another line dance she did at her brothers wedding. Then the the knee thing... this part was slightly more complex, as it required thei turning. At first it took Sarah a bit more time to get to the left, but she rushed up to where trhe others were. To the right...to the left.. kicks knees.. this time she made it on time.
Now she did it again, the 4 to the right, 4 to the left. kick,2,3,4, knees.
By now she was three quarters away from the side she started. She did the dance again, this tim finishing off in the place where she had started

It seemed like she’d gotten ready quicker than most of the others. In fact, as Lily had left the changing area, she’d even still seen a few students still practicing the Cupid Shuffle. That was interesting. It made her wonder if she was the only one who could still play the song in her head after it wasn’t actually playing in the room anymore. Of course, there was the possibility those who were still dancing hadn’t even noticed the song had stopped and everything, too. They could have just been thinking about the steps outside of the music, but anyway, there were still a few people who had changed into their formalwear already. Not many other Ravenclaws, but it was hard not to notice the Hufflepuff boy who had been talking to Lux before the lesson had begun, and West, of course. She also saw Ana and another little Slytherin girl. Apparently all the Claws were taking their time changing, but that was okay. She was happy with what she had found on the racks and everything. Plus, it appeared like the groundskeeper had either abandoned the idea of wearing tights or he just hadn’t found any.
As she’d continued looking around the room, suddenly her green eyes had landed on Austin standing over near the Slytherin boys changing area. She hadn’t even noticed him go over there to change, but then, she’d been pretty focused on making sure she’d gotten to her area so maybe she’d just missed it. Now that she’d seen him, though, she headed over. At least her dress wasn’t so long that she had to worry about tripping. That was the advantage of wearing heels, along with being tall in the first place. “Hey,” she said once she got over to him, giving him a smile. “You look nice. Very into House spirit.” That had been sort of the requirement, of course, but still, it seemed like a compliment. “So you lied. You can dance,” she added, still smiling. It was teasing, not an accusation. At least, it wasn’t really an accusation.

Oh hey they could be done dancing now? Sweet.
Now that that was over, she wouldn't mind admitting that it wasn't dreadfully awful. Her muscles were all kinds of sore now, weird given the warming up she'd done...or not that weird when all she did was rotate her shoulders...? Eh, details details, the point was, she lived through this experience and would NEVER be doing it again. We clear on this Professor? Yes? Good good.
........
..................
Er.......................Ballroom gowns? They wanted to stick her in a dress? How about NO? No sound good? Lex liked the sound the 'no' made when you put it in the context of her having to wear a dress. It wasn't happening.
Then all at once everyone was migrating to the changing room like a swarm of imperio-ed people. Had to be mind control. They couldn't all be willing. Slowly the Gryffindor dragged her feet toward the room. A dress? A flipping dress? While walking she tried looking for a boy she could beg to snag her some pants.

There was still no way that this should have happened, Austin was having objections every five seconds to this whole situation because he wasn’t into the whole suit having to be in house colours concept since it made him look ridiculous, green and silver worked when it came to the robes but for an actual formal situation; not at all. At least it wasn’t half as bad as Hufflepuff, maybe that was the consolation here at the end of the day since he definitely wouldn’t have wanted to wear a yellow and black suit. Okay maybe there isn’t a need for complaints here. Not considering there’s not any more of the cupid shuffle to do. That was another interesting way to look at it and one that seemed to make further sense rather than any other idea. At least the internal discussion ceased as Lily approached him in her blue gown since there was no way that he was about to tune her out. “Well thanks. And you look quite nice yourself, the Ravenclaw colours definitely suit you.” he replied, only giving her a smile at the compliment since at least someone didn’t think he looked bad. Might have taken all the convincing in the world for him to think so but there wasn’t time for that.
“Not a lie. Just changing what I’m saying to mean something else entirely.” he continued, taking her teasing completely not seriously because it wasn’t; she wasn’t mad at the fact that he lied but maybe it was being hidden for after the dance lessons along with the explanation of what would have happened had he decided to not show up. He wasn’t about to let Lily forget about telling him that since mysteries were meant to be solved, no matter what the answer was, though for now he was more curious about the matter of dance partners since he didn’t want to be dancing with anyone else except for her. This day was just full of potential objections and it wasn’t even over it, he wasn’t entirely sure what else was going to happen.
Delilah raised an eyebrow when Ella protested and said that she was going to keep trying? Really? Because she was pretty sure the other blonde was too weak to even stand. The girl was about to argue when Airey had suggested that she relax, too. Heh. Okay, Ella. Now, could you just relax, yeah? Because, Delilah was concerned..... Blink.
............ WHAT. Ball GOWNS!?!? Was Airey serious?... He apparently was as people started to head towards the changing rooms. This was officially the worst lesson ever. And she was SO tired. How was she supposed to dance? The girl tapped her foot, feeling annoyed. Now, what? She didn't want to be doing this so.. but then again, it wasn't like she had a choice. Sigh.
Looking extremely unhappy, she slowly dragged herself to the changing room as well.
So...she'd attracted some attention, apparently. Crazy creaky bones were to blame and the blonde casually waved a hand, offering a weak smile to...to... ...to D...Delilah and then to Alec, hand still on her hip. "M'fine, you guys. I'm-" BLINK. Had Delilah just said she didn't look good? WELL. Ella stood up a bit straighter and smoothed her hair, frowning slightly. She knew the girl hadn't meant to make her feel bad but Ella was already feeling a bit meh and to know that she looked that way too wasn't so great.
"I'm going to keep trying." It had been decided. And it was nice of them to worry and all but even the ugly, wrinkly, grey Head Girl who didn't look good didn't quit.
And why was Fern yelling for some vanilla? Had they brought out snacks or something? The head girl peeked around for any sign of cupcakes because mmm, vanilla. Oh and dancing, right. Stubbornly she began to move to the right again.
Step. Step. Wince.
See? She was fine.

What was Cuthbert DOING!? Fern grit her teeth and pulled harder and harder and she was pretty sure she was definitely going to dislocate something now and it was going to be her shoulder and HARDER.
Why was Cuthbert so strong!? And where was Ella!? Fern couldn't see the seventh year anymore - was it because there were too many students in the way? Or was it because she had fallen to the ground? Or was it because she had been taken to the hospital wing!?
Fern didn't have time for this stupid tug-of-war. "Emer-"
But then Cuthbert nearly fell. And Fern, being attached to Cuthbert at the wrist, nearly fell as well.
The sudden loss of balance took Fern just enough outside of herself to realize that Professor Airey had been talking. And now he was looking right at them. Why was he looking right at them? And Cuthbert was - Cuthbert was dragging her in his direction. Fern stumbled along beside the Slytherin, simultaneously trying to get her hood back into place and look for Ella.
.... And ended up wearing THIS. Okay, so. The dress was rather pretty but it was just SO grand and to have people see her in it.. The girl shuddered to herself. She summoned all her courage and slowly made her way out of the changing rooms. Yeah, no one was looking. THANK GOODNESS.
She quickly headed to a quiet corner of the classroom. Yeah, she was just going to stand in the side so that no one would notice her. Not much, anyway. Gosh, this was so embarrassing.
As for a dancing partner.. well, nope. Not happening.

She was being stubborn, Ella was. A sort of I can do anything you can do mentality had washed over her, even if she knew deep down that Alec and Delilah were only trying to help because she seemed to be in pain. She wasn't a quitter, y'know? And besides, she wasn't the only one moving a bit slower lately. Maybe they could go help the others and leave her be. Maybe.
But then Airey was there, hand placed on her shoulder and suggesting she rest if she needed to. Did she really look that bad? The eighteen year old glanced up at the man and said quietly, "I'm fine, Professor. Really." Reassuring smiles and everything. They just needed to stop fussing over her, okay? It was making her a grumpy human and she didn't want that. This was meant to be fun. And thank goodness Fern was being sidetracked because that adorable child loved to make a scene.
Eyes downcast, the Head Girl was relieved when Airey moved on, announcing that they'd be changing. Gowns? Fancy gowns? ...Okay. She could do that. And hey, getting changed counted as taking a break so the others would be happy now. Mhm.
Without a word, the eighteen year old headed to the Hufflepuff girls' changing area and riffled through her options. She was short which was a problem as even with the heeled dancing shoes, the dresses were still quite long. Another problem was that she seemed to have lost weight. That...was weird. Her appetite hadn't changed much so maybe it was the stress? Had to be. Luckily she had her wand so making alterations wasn't too hard.
...
After a while, the blonde emerged again and very slowly headed over to the side where others were also waiting to get started. Everyone looked so nice and Ella bit her lip, smoothing her own getup self-consciously. She felt really silly. Her feet also hurt a bit. She wasn't sitting this one out, though. Sorry guys.
Nigel was getting tired of the pointless kicking and was happy it finally done with. Hip Hop was okay. Just not this cupid shuffle. It felt like his ankles were on fire and he would definitely need to sit down after this.
Oh Suits. Now we are talking.
Just not Flamsteed's suit. That thing would not go well with anything besides Valentine's Day. Now Blue and Bronze. Hmm....did not know how Blue and Bronze would go together in a suit. Blue and Gold was nice just not sure about Bronze. Well hopefully there would be some good combinations. He trusted Flamsteed when it came to suits.
Changing Room here we come.

Bay moved slowed over to the boy's changing room.
once inside he changed from his normal clothes to a nice tuxedo. bending over he tied his shoes. his clothes were piled up on a bench… should he leave them there…or take them with him. He decided to leave them… if anyone took them he would know for his name was written in all of them.
making his way back to his friends he patted himself down to make sure he looked okay.

Ugh! This was going from bad to worse. Adi had not been expected they get dressed for the dance. He'd figured they'd be having dance partners so that hadn't been a surprise. Well... he'd better go and find something yellow and black to wear. "See you in a few,'' he mumbled to Benny and shuffled off.
...................
In the changing room, Adi found black pants. Good. This was a good start. Black pants were not so bad. He had to find a shirt. And a tie. Were ties necessary? Ties made him feel uncomfortable. Like there were hands around his neck as if he were about to be strangled. Besides, it wasn't the real even they were at...
He would think about the tie later. Right now he needed a shirt.

Sighing, Lux searched through all the available dresses she could find within her House colours (yellow and black). Why were so many of these overly puffy and gross? Frowning, she put all of them aside, finally finding one that she could see herself in. Though it was not perfect, at least she kind of liked it.
A few minutes later, she emerged in the dress, and made her way over to where Bay was. "You look all snazzy now." She laughed, having never seen him look so formal before. "Would you dance this one with me?" If he would rather do it with someone else, that was okay... but she knew he had a hard time remembering things now, and maybe she could help guide him if he became lost.

Sander looked in awe when he saw Lux come out of the changing rooms. She was so beautiful. He walked up to her and placed a hand on her shoulder, "You're really beautiful, Lux. You should dress up like this more often," he smiled down at her.
BALL GOWN time! Now she could really be a princess. Sarah made her way to the changing room, already thinking abouyt what kind of gown she was going to wear? Something long and princessy of course.
Sarah made her way over the lion part... rows of outfits of various shapes and sizes greeted her, their common denominator being that they each were of either gold or red.
Sarah's eyes caught site of nice red one.. she absolutly loves the skirt part of it. She took it off the rack so she could have a better look at it.
NOPE, it would not do.. first of all, there were no sleeves or straps of any kind, which would reveal her upper arm and underarm, but the worst part, the part that made it more trashy than princessy, was the circle details on her chest... GROSS! No princess walks around with a two circles on her chest. These circles drew attention to the bumps of her body.. Nah. That would not do. Sarah put the dress back
