Winter was setting in to the grounds and with it came a whole new set of responsibilities for taking care of the growing dragon known as Roro. Dragons were wild creatures and by nature liked to have free roam of wherever they were living; however, having a dragon at an educational institution meant that Professor Williamson had to take certain safety precautions when getting said dragon ready for winter.
Today, he had set up the barn for an afternoon full of work; the students didn't know it yet, but they were all going to be acting as dragonologists in training today. First things first though, they had to get here, and Willy had to finish setting up.
Sitting just outside the barn door was a horseshoe-shaped assortment of hay bales, all of which had been charmed to feel as though one was sitting on a sun-warmed rock. Inside the open barn, and just visible to those sitting on the hay bales, was a giant, emptybaby pool and something that looked like a big harness....
No professor was in sight though. While you wait for class to start, why not take a seat and at least keep your bum warm?

Alyssa smiled as Roro walked out and she watched as Professor Williamson, like a proud dragon Mommy Daddy encouraged the baby dragon to feed from the buckets.
Alyssa raised her hand and asked the Professor,"Professor when does one start feeding a dragon more solid food?" For some reason, Alyssa didn't think that dragons just lived on chicken blood and brandy all their lives.
Oichi smiled as she saw Roro come out to play He had Horton so big since she had seen him last. She gawked at the cute little baby as she noticed he looked rather scared. AWE, poor little Roro, he must be s scared with the crowd of people way bigger him. Hopefully he would get used to the crowd and feel more comfortable soon. Oichi applied her dragon hide gloves and waited for further instructions as she continued to.gawk at cute little Roro.
Kate tried her best not to bounce in place. That caused her to keep her hands tightly clasped against one another, while wearing the gloves, that is. After years of meeting little baby dragons, the sight was still spectacular. Hopefully, her silvery hair wouldn't draw too much attention to the little one.
She was no toy.
Eyes on the Professor as he oh-so-wonderfully looked at the baby dragon. You could tell he was forever proud of having it. And Kate couldn't blame him.
Then her eyes went to the baby in front of them. HIIII, LITTLE ONE!

Oh yes what a sweet baby dragon...NOT!... Hannah really hoped that the dragon was going to be distracted by the sounds of the buckets scraping and hopefully the dragon would follow his little baby nose to the nice blood and brandy and not towards any of them.
She heard a kid muttering about the dragon not breathing fire, and Hannah was with him. she didn't want that thing breathing fire anywhere near her!

Awww...
Here comes the little ba... not so little baby dragon... Lily thought as she sat on her hay bale watching the dragon come out to play/eat... Quietly, she pulled her gloves out of her bag and slipped them onto her hands. No dragon was going to eat off her fingers.... Now to just wait until the dragon eats and calms down before the lesson really starts.
Willy, admittedly, had a hard time also not laughing his bum off at some of these students' "dragon calls." What he SHOULD have said earlier was that the best way to call a dragon was to simply whistle and/or use its name, but even then there was no REAL, OFFICIAL way to call a dragon. They're wild animals, people, not pets. Except for his. Roro was clearly the exception.
What he said instead sounded suspiciously like a long series of chuckles and snorts.
...until lil Roro came out to play, that was. "Rorooooo!" he cooed, clapping his gloved hands together to distract the baby from his captive audience. Poor fella was just stunned to see that many people all together at once. STUNNED.
"Roro!" Willy scooted out in front of the dragon to serve as a barrier between it and, say, the Gryffindor boy in the front row. "Roro, go eat your food now, buddy! Go eat! You know you like it!" Willy subtly withdrew his wand into his hand and flicked it at the buckets, causing them to scrape along the barn floor with an obnoxious, loud sound. "Go get 'em boy! Go on!"
The dragon would surely be distracted by the noise from the buckets... and even if not, he looked too scared to snap at anyone anyway. Awww. Poor baby.
Upon hearing his dadddddddy's calls, Roro slowly turned his big, wide, reptilian eyes away from the classroom of baby hoomans and over to his Daddy. Daddy! Daddy was making a big noise over there!! Did Daddy have fooods?!
Roro slowly turned his neck and big hindquarters around too, his bum and long tail starting to wiggle some. "Eorka?" Roro called out softly, taking a few nervous steps toward him. Now that he was feeling a little less scared, Roro's nostrils were again picking up the scent of his foodstuffs. Mmmm foooooood!!
He eagerly waddled the rest of the way over to the buckets, which his Daddy had moooved for him, and stuck his dragon face straight into the food, making a great mess as he ommed and nommed his way through them. Some food might have even sprayed on the hoomans sitting in the front row. Hehe. Foooood.

Stella had remained quiet during the discussion of what exactly one would feed a baby dragon, although she'd glanced at Vickers as he'd suggested the mix of blood and brandy. That was just disgusting, honestly, and she was hoping they weren't going to handle the buckets. Although, a corner of her mind wondered if Matt knew that information, since he'd seemed interested in Professor Williamson's dragon when she'd talked to him about it. He was the one who wanted to study CoMC after all, she was just curious what they'd end up learning that pertained to the creatures the professor located. And she was the one still here at Hogwarts, so she felt obligated to take the classes so she could pass the information on.
She'd stayed quiet as they'd been told to call Roro, too, simply because she didn't feel like trying to think of what a dragon would answer to. Besides, she figured it wasn't like her cat, so 'Here Roro, roro, roro' likely wouldn't have worked. The dragon had come skidding out anyway, and she'd tucked her feet up on the haybale underneath her as she watched the creature look at them and then succumb to the curiosity of the buckets. And put her dragonhide gloves on as instructed, eyes widening as some of the liquid sprayed out all over the place. Maybe we should have worried less about fireproofing and more about blood-proofing, she thought, grateful she'd been a few rows back. Roro really was sort of cute, though, even through all the mess it was making.

Zhenya had inched backwards a few inches. She didn't want to be near the dragon when it let out a giant belch. She was sure fire would come out. Would it? She didn't want to be near it when she saw it happen. She was nodding eagerly to herself, trying to wish the dragon to go to the food. When Roro finally made its way to the food, she let out a small sigh of relief, then laughed silently as she saw some of the students get sprayed with the gunk he was calling food. She would have been absolutely mortified it it had hit her in the face, but luckily it didn't. She inched back a bit more just in case, though, and watched as Roro chose his real food over the students.

So far, the little dragon hadn't breathed out any fire which made Daichi less nervous. He actually thought the big baby was cute! The way it looked at the students and then to Professor Williamson. Awww it was like a lost puppy looking for his owner.
As the dragon waddled over to the buckets, Daichi giggled behind his hand. The waddle reminded him of the ducks at the pond , a place he should really go to again cause he was missing Floppy... Letting out a small sigh, Daichi turned back to look at the dragon as it began to stuff itself with food.
The Slytherin made a face of disgusted as the chicken blood and brandy sprayed in the air before hitting the students on the first row. It was like a horror movie scene ..but in movies it was fake..now it was just.. "ewww"

Yuck! Emmanuelle was thankful that she had ended up being towards the back of the class. Watching the dragon eat was already making her nauseous from her current vantage point. She couldn't even imagine how the front row must feel. Especially the one who had ended up with some of the 'food' in her mouth! Ugh…

Kennedy was all AWW for baby Roro. His feet little by little inched closer to the front row. Could he babysit the dragon? Was that up of sign ups? Because if it was then he was SO for it. He watched as the baby dragon waddled its way toward the food, which reminded him of Cornelius his baby cousin.
He was about to step forward a tad more when the contests inside the bucket splashed the front row. Rapidly, he took several steps back and avoided the mess. Phew, these were new shoes. Of course, he was ready to get down and dirty, but he was taught to take care of his stuff...then again, he did have magic. Hmm.

O_O *Blink Blink* Ella had once seen the horror movie Carrie because her Gram had fell asleep watching it and wasn't able to tell her no. This whole dragon food splattering students thing...it was a lot like in the movie when the girl got a crown for being cool or something. But this-this was much worse. That blood was real chicken blood covering real students. Yikes!
Sophie raised her eyebrows and leaned back a little when the dragon started spilling its food all around. Luckly she wasn't sitting in the front row!
She smiled at how professor Williamson was being so very careful and loving with the baby dragon. It was cool seeing a grown up man going all 'awwww' and cute. The baby wasn't the cutest of things, but it was a baby after all, and babies - in general - were cute.
Annabelle saw the dragon start eating the brandy and blood. It was kind of cute to watch a newborn dragon eat for the first time on their own. She was glad she wasn't in the front row of all things. She sure didn't want her clothes to smell and be stained. She couldn't wait to pet the dragon!

Violet watched with fascinated horror as Roro, the dragon nommed on his food. It was gross, hearing the squelching noises the dragon made as he slurped up the content of food. She wondered if dragons could swim. They were the creatures of the air, but maybe they were strong swimmers?

Maybe her thoughts earlier had been in vain, that the buckets had been filled with chicken blood would not effect her because it wasn't human blood or really supposed to mimic it like the one healing seminar had. However, the moment some of the liquid splattered on her face...the Gryffindor froze. Just that. She froze with a look of horror plastered on her face for a moment before her expression became blank and her already pale features turned whiter than a sheet.
Next thing Kurumi knew, or didn't as the case was since her eyes had sort of rolled in the back of her head, she was sloughing and leaning in her seat towards Daichi until her head was resting on his shoulders...completely passed out.

THAT IS GROSSSSSSSS... She loved seeing the dragon and she liked being able to watch it grow, but seeing it eat the blood and brandy made her sick to her stomach. She couldn't help but look away and feeling a bit light headed. She decided to turn herself a bit on the hay and not even look at it. She could still hear the slurps which made the picture in her head come back. She tried to just breath and relax so that the sick feeling would leave and she could get back to the listening part of class.

Ewww.
Now the sight before her wouldn't be so disgusting had the dragon been eating chocolate cake. ...but blood and brandy? Gross. Sierra made a face and pushed herself back a little on the hay bale she'd been sitting on. "Professor?" she asked, raising her hand yet still looking at Roro, "what marks the moment when you know you have to return him to the wild? I mean, he won't eat like that..." How he was eating now, she meant... "...forever." There'll come a time when he'd be ready to bite someone's head off, yes?
Aspen mentally measured the dragon... hmm... then did a mental measure of Professor Williamson. If it came down a brawl, she was betting on the dragon.
Shouldn't he be on a leash? The dragon, that was. Aspen made a note to look up how fast dragons could run.
Then look up the record fastest time it took for a dragon to eat a hooman human. THEN... she looked around the class, picking out who was most likely to get eaten by a dragon.
Clearly Professor Williamson. But maybe the Gryffindor Prefect. Obviously all the first and second years would be easy pickings...
"He needs a bib," Aspen commented, more to herself than to anyone else. A dragonhide one to match their gloves?
Lastly, Aspen mentally cataloged the least likely to get eaten by a dragon. She put herself on the list, Joao, Kennedy, Louisa, and DEFINITELY Sierra would be spared. Sierra would leave a bad taste in anyone's mouth, even blood-sucking, dead-ferret-eating dragons.

Watching creatures eat no matter how terrifying was always something that this Ravenclaw can do for hours. There was vulnerability about them that he could detect, the time when even the most dangerous creatures would have their guards down somewhat. Not that he would encourage anyone to start coming near them and petting them or muck about. He knew well enough that some creatures when they are at their most vulnerable will also be at their most ferocious.
He must admit though, that watching little Roro eat was quite possibly be the cutest thing he had seen happening in class, even as she slobbed her way through and got some of her really bloody meal onto his boots. His eyes shifted to their Professor. The pride for the little one was almost tangible. He was finally getting some idea of what he had possibly looked like when he was nursing strays back to health.

Jory watched Roro eat in a messy way that still fascinated him. But he had to laugh when he saw some of the students faces turned up in disgust at the blood and brandy. But he thought it was cool.
He hoped they'd be allowed to pet the dragon again.

Good, good, Roro was distracted and eating, finally, even if his eating habits meant splattering all the children with a combination of chicken blood and brandy... at least he was happily eating.
Willy breathed a sigh of relief and took a step away from the dragon, toward the students, to answer their questions.

"Somebody wake up the Gryffindor prefect," William mused at the sight of Kurumi dozing with her head on Daichi's shoulder. Sleeping in class, tsk tsk. "Shoot her with some water." That should work nicely.

Lovely, another question about releasing Roro into the wild. Sierra didn't happen to be friends with Aspen, did she?
"What marks the moment? Well I'd say when Roro is flying and breathing fire and goring deer with his horns and chasing after Hufflepuffs for a snack, well then it might be time to release him into the wild."
Please note the sarcasm, thanks. "In other words, when he's fully grown and about two years old, that will be the time to return him to the Sanctuary."

Alyssa had another question, did she? Figures that it would be about food. "When he's about five, six months old he'll be on a solid food diet." Williamson nodded. "That's about when he'll be able to breathe fire and roast his meat too." He was already introducing rats and ferrets and such into the baby's diet though.

Okay... so it was kinda threatening. But cute in a threatening... she didn't really want to touch it... kind of way.
She looked around. Why did she have to be sitting by herself? She should have been sitting next to some brave older kid that would jump in the way of any oncoming attacks protect her.
Anya tentatively raised her hand. "Professor... what do baby dragons do if they feel threatened...?" she asked slowly. You know... for future reference.
"When baby dragons feel threatened..." Willy took a step away from Roro and eyed his baby at this question, "well, they do about what any adult dragon does: they attack. Remember that babies can't fly or breathe fire, though, so I'd expect Roro to try to headbutt whoever attacked him."
Not that, you know, Willy was expecting that to happen today though.... HOPEFULLY.

As the second year continued to watch, she got curious about the dragon feedings and raised her hand. "Professor, how many times a day do you need to feed Roro?" It seemed like a lot based on how big the dragon now was.
"You're supposed feed dragons this combo of a bucket of brandy and chicken blood every half-hour," Willy admitted. No wonder he was looking so exhausted, eh? OR WAS HE? He was a naturally good-looking guy, so he wouldn't be surprised if the kiddos hadn't even noticed his exhaustion/preoccupation/obsession with his baby dragon.
"But sometimes, Roro's not hungry that often, so you just have to watch and see. Every dragon's different." And with that, he nodded. All student questions had been answered for now, yes?
Time to move on.
"While Roro finishes eating," Willy did notice the dragon getting to the bottom of his bucket, "I'd like you guys to go ahead and form groups of four to six. You're going to be walking a dragon!"
Lucky, lucky them.

Ella's attention turned towards Kurumi and Daichi when Professor Williamson called for someone to wake her up. Why was she sleeping?! There was a dragon right here. RIGHT HERE. This was no time for a nap!
And then her question had been answered. Every half hour? That was A LOT! Like if Ella ate every half hour she'd probably explode or something...which come to think of it, would look a lot like what had just sprayed all over the other students in the front row. YUCK! "Professor, that must be hard to keep up with." Like what if you needed to go to the loo or to eat yourself? Would Roro get mad and and hungry and go dragon bananas?
O_O Walking a dragon? WALKING THE DRAGON! Yes! How cool was this? Ella was quite excited. And the teeniest bit scared. But more excited. Yup. She turned to Sophie and Messer who were sitting with her, a big smile on her face. "You guys want to work with me?" You know, Hufflepuff power and all that.

Minerva smiled at her two friends. "SO are we going to be three in the group? We will need 3 more as well?" and then she heard Ella ask two other people."That could make five with all of us together." She hoped they wanted to be partners with her. It was a usual think in their classes, so she just assumed. She looked back at the dragon as she waited for them to respond and watched it eat again feeling sick she turned back to them. "So do you know anyone else that might want to join us if all of us work together we just need one more to be six.
