Hecate had just unfrozen all the plimpies in the classroom... She'd even cast a deodorizing spell to cover the smell. Her classroom was ready, and hopefully no one else would need the hospital wing.
ooc: This class is a continuation of Part 1, and will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Antarctica! for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me at the WWoHP, and to Ameh for makin it into a pretty graphic!

Rip...off?
Kurumi blinked several times at the woman's choice of vocabulary. Couldn't she have used a more passive word? Rip was just so...grotesque sounding. Not to mention the sound was one of the worst things she had ever heard.
Couldn't they wear earmuffs for this portion?
Her finger shaking, Kurumi interested her finger into the mouth of the plimpy and shut her eyes tight as she tugged on it. The hairs on the back of her neck stood on end at the noise that was made and her entire body shivered. Don't worry about how it rips? No worries. Kurumi didn't even look at it before she dropped it into her tray.
There it was again. The term ripping. WHY did they have to rip the meat into pieces? Wouldn't it make sense to just use their scalpel and slice the meat up? That way it would be in clean pieces instead of looking like something the cat just dragged in. It was totally barbaric and disrespectful to the plimpy.
Slowly and nervously, Kurumi tore off a piece and the scream that the meat made brought tears to her eyes instantly. This was horrible. Cruel even. Reluctantly, Kurumi tore off another piece...and another...and another until her ears couldn't take it anymore and she had to put the remaining meat down for a moment.
Which was when she saw a flash of blue robes out of the corner of her eye and her violet gaze followed.

Selina felt like she was going to hurl. There was something about watching meat being handled that unsettled her stomach. Selina liked to eat meat, she did not want to think about where it came from. That was not her job and the fact that Lafay as holding up a mirror to meat in general made her want to go and heave in a toilet. Maybe steak tonight was not going to be on her plate. Which was a shame really.
Then, once Lafay was done, she put her finger in her mouth a ripped off the mouth with a shudder. Nasty... just gross. As soon as that was all sorted out, she slowly and on the verge of gagging started to rip the flesh into small two inch sections. She was having trouble stomaching this entire lesson. It was messed up.. and yet, she continued to rip away.
"Last two steps." She said and she hooked one finger in it's mouth. "With your finger, pull on it's mouth, it'll rip off." And as it did the sound was disgusting. "Don't worry about how it rips..." she dropped it in the water and then the harvesting tray. "Now just start ripping the meat up in pieces, oh and the sound is something plimpies make." She began ripping. The sound was loud, wet, gross and almost like a cry. "You need to make them into small two inch pieces. Try to ignore the sound of the flesh ripping."
Isla felt as if she was about to lose her breakfast as she pulled the moith off of the plimpy. She then began to rip the meat into two inch pieces. The sound was horrible and she felt as if she was going to throw up and faint all at the same time. Hopefully, it would be over soon, she need some fresh air.

SO disgusting.
Chelle felt a bit wobbly in the knees. She felt really sick, but she tried to stay strong. "Remember that the professor said it's just the last two steps," she muttered under her breath, as if trying to reassure herself. As she opened her eyes, she lifted the plimpy and grabbed its mouth between her index finger and her thumb. She applied little force and the mouth seemed to come off with a terrible sound.
I can't do this anymore.
Poor, sensitive little Chelle collapsed right in her spot.
One down... she thought it'd be more. One wasn't bad. She went to her desk and pulled out smelling salts. "Someone use these to bring her back" she said placing the vial on her desk for anyone to get.

Convinced, the girl started ripping off the meat, wincing at every sound the Plimpy made. She took advantage of the time she spent on altering the piece's size into the one Lafay told them... rip.. rip.. ri-
-p.. rip.. THUD! Louisa raised her eyebrows before turning her head to the source of the sound. Gasping she paused in her work, "Vickers!" She frowned, concerned, and looked up at the professor. She would've pointed out that he probably just fainted... but that made Lafay highly sarcastic and annoyed the last time anyone pointed out something to her, so Louisa just looked at the Dragon lady expectantly.
...she could sprinkle some water in his face? Like she did to that girl? Only this time, it was needed and not childish.
"Stay at your desk and finish harvesting." She said and as she made her way to the back of the class, she added "It's how they are made, I guess. It's the reason why merpeople don't eat them. Probably to deter you from doing just this. Some people use earmuffs, but I think your first time, you should experience the whole thing."

"Y-Yes, professor," Kurumi stammered, giving Vickers' shoulder one last squeeze before she quickly made her way towards the woman's desk to pick up the smelling salts before heading towards the fallen Ravenclaw first year.
Carefully propping the girl up with one arm, Kurumi removed the cork in the vial and slowly passed it under the girl's nose. Come on now....

Jory looked at the other students. He was sure he would throw up at the beginning of the lesson. But he was thankful he hadn't. He watched as Kurumi held the vial under the young girl's nose. "She'll be alright,'' he thought as he turned his attention back to Professor Lafay.
The Puff placed the two inch meat pieces into the tray without putting it in the water. And he watched as the blood was separated and then the meat vanished.
And they were done. He had made it through the lesson. Jory couldn't deny... it had been a very interesting lesson.
"Last two steps." She said and she hooked one finger in it's mouth. "With your finger, pull on it's mouth, it'll rip off." And as it did the sound was disgusting. "Don't worry about how it rips..." she dropped it in the water and then the harvesting tray. "Now just start ripping the meat up in pieces, oh and the sound is something plimpies make." The mouth? This was totally un...unjust. Torture. Abuse. Unacceptable. There's this animal protecting act, right? Why do they even needed to do this piece by piece? It was like, killing the Plimpy one too many times. But, Erin needed to do what she was instructed, what she was supposed to do. And so, she went to look at her Plimpy removing the mouth as careful as possible. She wanted to save the Plimpy from anymore harm after hearing that crying sound she heard earlier from Professor Lafay's Plimpy. Erin dropped the mouth of the creature on to the water and into the harvesting tray. She watched it disappear.
...and now, anxiety striking, Erin took a hold of the Plimpy's overall meat. She needed to rip it off with a size as little as two inches. Not clearly enjoying what she was doing, Erin started to rip off the meat one by one. And everytime she heard a crying sound, she couldn't help but wince. This was purely unpleasant. Totally. She repeated to rip off the meat piece by piece.

OH. People were being unconscious again! Erin darted her attention to the Potions Mistress who was explaining the probable reason students were fainting...Er, they should have used earmuffs, then. Riveting her interest towards the Plimpy who was now into pieces - thank Merlin, she survived the fainting part - she slowly set the meat divided into pieces on to the harvesting tray.
She left the boy's side and addressed the whole class. "Set the meat in the tray without passing it through the water. The tray will separate the excess blood and the meat and then disappear. This completes the Harvesting. Before I assign homework, questions?"
Isla thanked God that they wee finally finished. She didn't know how much more she could handle. She looked around at her poor class mates who had fainted and started taking deep breaths so that she wouldn't join them.

She was in the snow, having a snowball fight. Jake was there with her. They were both laughing. And then she started smelling something really strong. It was a strange smell... But she liked it... "Mmmhmm," she murmured.
...And suddenly she wasn't in the snow anymore, and Jake was nowhere to be seen. It was dark.
Chelle's eyes flickered open. Her throat felt dry and she felt still felt sick. But she couldn't understand what had happened. There was a tall Gryffindor girl in front of her. As her vision slowly cleared, Chelle realised it was that Gryffindor Prefect. She held something in front of Chelle's nose. Chelle frowned.
What on earth... What am I doing on the floor?
Chelle gasped and tried to recall what had happened. She was tearing the plimpy skin in bits and pieces. And it was making horrible noises. How did she end up here? And what was the smell? She looked at the Gryffindor girl in front of her. She was gripping Chelle's arm. "Um, hi?" she said, weakly. For lack of better words.

Ugh. Silvia closed her eyes as she reached for the mouth. Figuring it would be better to get it over with quickly, she gave a hard yank, ripping it off. She instantly regretted it for the loud and disgusting noise it made and dropped it into the tray without looking.
Next was to take care of the meat; this time however she opted to go about it a bit more slowly. It didn't make much of a difference, though. It still made that horrible sound. Once more Silvia tried to divert her eyes as much as possible as she worked, and tried to distract her attention from the noise by thinking of something else entirely. When it seemed that she had finished, she put her full attention back on the plimpy. The meat wasn't perfectly broken up into two inch pieces, but it was close enough. She quickly scooped them up and dropped them into the tray.
Phew, finally. That almost felt like it would go on forever. She hoped she'd never have to do that again. Silvia cleaned up what she could. Questions? Yes, she had a question, though she didn't voice it. Could they get out of here? NOW? She was starting to get a headache.

There was this echo ringing around his head and a dull thump, thump thump that felt like someone was trying to crack it open with a mallet, but from the inside. He opened his eyes and found everything a blur, and when squinting tightly he realized it was the inside of a bucket.
What??
It took him a few more seconds to realize the cold, hard dungeon floor was pressing against him, and thus struggled to push himself up. Which was a mistake, because he quickly felt his stomach lurch and and his mouth opening to let something sour and funny smelling out.
Oh boy, this is bad. This has got to be a bad dream right?
But it was the Potions Mistress' voice that cut through the fog of confussion, hearing her saying something about chewing on something. His first instinct was to shake his head-- he didnt want anything else passing in or out of his mouth, but the strong minty scent bade him to pay attention. This is a good thing. Take it.
Blindly he reached out to for that strong, minty scent, the bucket falling off his head, clumsily-- and messily-- landing on the floor with a noisy clang. He shoved the leafy thing into his mouth and leaned against the wall. Boy was that strong.
It took him a few more minutes but finally he opened his eyes and finally realized what was happening-- he was on the floor, his robes covered with something wet, slimy and just generally disgusting, with the Professor Lafay hovering nearby. He totally missed anything else the Professor was saying about the Plimpies, right now he was just trying to figure out if his legs wont give way if he stood up.
Maybe he'd just sit here and hope nobody else would come and laugh look at him. He had tortured and killed a not-quite-dead-creature today, and humiliated himself in front of the class in one fell swoop. Bravo.

THANK MERLIN! Last two steps...those were beautiful words to hear. Ella honestly felt like fist pumping. That's how sweet they sounded to her ears. She could totally do this...get through this class without puking. She could, right? RIGHT?
O_____O
EEEEP! They were going to just pull out its mouth...just like that? Ella was horrified because it just seemed...so mean. Even if the plimpy was dead. And the sound? Ella would definitely not be able to sleep tonight. Definitely not. And then they were meant to just...rip up the meat? Like it was no big deal? Like it wasn't...the most disgusting thing ever? Ella gagged. Her ears were just not taking kindly to the sounds coming from the dead plimpies' flesh. They just weren't.
Taking the biggest deep breath ever, Ella closed her eyes and tried to calm herself down. This was fine...it was just a class. She wasn't going to faint...she just wasn't. She wouldn't allow herself too. She also wasn't going to puke. Not at all. NOPE. With that in mind, the second year hooked one finger into the mouth and pulled, HARD. O_______o She cringed...CRINGED at the sound. It was just...horrifying. And just as quickly as she had ripped it out, the mouth was dunked into the water and placed on the tray. Out of sight, out of mind.
And Chelle! She had fainted! Ella looked at her friend, worried about her. Luckily that Kurumi girl was helping. The second year was happy about that. And ohh! A boy had fainted too! He would be alright, wouldn't he? Ella totally couldn't blame them for not being able to handle the...sounds. Ella was having major trouble too. It was like her body was begging her to just let it pass out but she was being stubborn...and trying to forge ahead as fast as possible.
Okay. Last step. *GULP* Ella began humming to herself as she ripped up the meat into two inch pieces. She had to hum or else it would have been over, she would have been out cold. And so the humming and the ripping continued, and the second year ignored everything and everyone around her. She was like a meat ripping machine...and she didn't stop until all the pieces were done. And she slumped in her seat, eyes blinking, not believing she had just done that. Finished. She was shocked.

Sierra was just finished up when Lafay announced the last two steps. Sierra immediately hooked one finger in the mouth of the plimpy and then began to rip its mouth off. The plimpy was dead, so...what was it to the creature anyway? Following Lafay's lead, she dropped the mouth into the water and then the harvesting tray.
With that done, she began ripping the meat to pieces. She monitored the size of each piece to make sure it was the size needed. She didn't need to ignore the sound of the flesh ripping. It didn't even bother her.

Ravenclaws...
...and she'd have thought better would come from them.
She finished separated the meat then dropped it directly into the harvesting tray. She didn't have any questions, but she sort of thought it'd be cool to actually use these ingredients to brew a potion in the next class.

Alyssa watched as the Professor demonstrated the last two steps...'Or so she says' Alyssa thought to herself...where she showed how to remove first the poor creature's mouth and then later on how to 'demolish' the rest of the plimpy's body.
Alyssa picked up her quill, hopefully for the last time in this lesson and wrote down the steps in her journal.
Text Cut: Alyssa's Potion Journal
Harvesting a Plimpy 1. Untie the legs
2. Put on gloves
3. Clean scalpel and tray
4. Take scalpel and make incision under the scales of the fish
5. Remove fins from body and place on tray.
6. Rotate legs one at a time.
7. Spread them widely until I hear them pop out of the sockets.
8. Use scalpel and cut along the lose skin.
9. Pull the legs off and put them in tray.
10. Cut from the bottom of the tail, down the stomach, all around the top, slicing it in half
11. Poke the eyes out of the socket by using thumbs.
12. Place eyes in harvesting tray.
13. Take dish and clean it.
14. Fill it with water using Aguamenti charm
15. Feel around in the chest for heart using hands.
16. Place heart in tray filled with water.
17. Remove the gills and place in tray.
18. Remove heart and place on harvesting tray.
19. Remove spine from Plimpy and all the other organs will follow.
20. Remove the organs one by one and place in tray filled with water to clean.
21. Take gills and place them on harvesting tray.
22. Take body of plimpy and gently squeeze blood and slime from it over into the harvesting tray. Blood and slime will separate on their own.
23. Need to be careful not to damage scales.
24. Scrape off as much slime as you can from your hands and flick it into harvesting tray.
25. Turn the body of plimpy around so that the meat side is down.
26. Peal off the skin of the creature, slowly and gently and toss it into harvesting tray
27. Hook finger into it's mouth and pull until it rips off.
28. Drop it in the water to clean and then put it on the harvesting tray.
29. Start ripping the plimpy's meat up into at least two inch pieces
30. Put the meat in the harvesting tray and the excess blood and meat will separate and disappear.
Alyssa was so glad when she heard what the Professor had told them to do next because that meant that they were done with the lesson. She picked up the handful of meat, all 2 inches in length, that she had ripped apart and placed them in the harvesting tray and watched as the blood and meat seemed to separate from themselves before disappearing. They were FINALLY DONE!!
Alyssa wiped her hands on her robe to clean off as much blood that she could before she picked up her wand and cleaned her hands by using the cleaning spell, "Scourgify". Then she picked up her quill with her fingertips and tossed it into her robe pocket. That was one quill that wouldn't be used again.
Looking down at her robes, she was glad that she had another pair because this one really needed some major cleaning before she would wear them again. Picking up her wand, Alyssa pointed it at her work desk and said, "Scourgify" to clean it up. Once it was her workspace was clean, she packed up her journal into her bag and all the writing materials.
Then she remembered something and raised her hand to ask the Professor. "Professor why didn't this Plimpy have any bones? I mean most fish like creatures do except for Sharks"

Kurumi had momentarily thought that perhaps this girl too had fallen victim to the freezing...whatever it was, so there was nothing but sheer relief plastered all over her face when the girl's eyes fluttered open and she was talking. THANK MERLIN.
Helping the girl sit up a bit more, her one arm wrapped around her back for support, Kurumi sort of laughed at the tone in which the young Ravenclaw said hello. "Hey, you feeling alright?" she asked softly, her eyes flicking back to Professor Lafay and Vickers for a moment. "You fainted in Potions. If you are feeling sick, Professor Lafay has something that can help settle your stomach."
And if the girl thought she could stand, well, Kurumi would certainly help her do so as well as help her back to her seat. She was in no hurry to continue ripping off pieces of raw meat from the plimpy.

She half-rolled her eyes. Yes, she was staying at her desk. And... earmuffs? That made sense! Louisa just stared at the professor as she helped Vickers and then returned to her original place. The Ravenclaw continued chucking off the last few pieces of meat, instantly dropping them in the harvesting tray. She doubted anyone had anything to ask about this... very gross lesson. They all needed to soak themselves in bathtubs or stand under the showers for a while.
... HULLO Prefects' privilege. She should use the bubbly bath today!
Sophie was still watching the slime and blood disappear as she heard professor Lafay's next instructions. She immediately turned what was left of her plimpy around, so the meat would be facing down.
Grin!
Oh! They'd be pealing off the skiiin! Oooooooooo!!! That didn't sound gross, rally. Not after all that blood at least. She frowned curiously as she noticed some of her classmates making such disgusted faces at their plimpies. Oh, come on! It wasn't that gross! And it was actually quite fun!
She slowly started pulling the skin and.. it ripped off. She placed the tiny piece on the tray and quickly turned to the plimpy again. Puuuulling ooooff... rip. Meh. That was HARD! It took Sophie a while to remove the whole skin and place all of the pieces on the tray.
When she was finally done with this task, the Slytherin Head of House was already saying the next step.
O_______________________O
Okay... now THAT was gross! Ripping off the.. mouth of the plimpy. Eeeeeuuuugghblaaaaaaaaargh! And the sound was just... eeeeeek! Sophie finally started feeling uneasy in this lesson. It had been so fun until... now. The loud noises were truly bothering her.
Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, Sophie tried to ignore the sound all of the plimpies meat were making across the dungeon. Gaaahhhh!!! Wasn't there a spell to make her temporarily deaf?? She was sure there was... she needed to find it out later. Only... it would really help NOW, not later... sigh.
Sophie was having a really hard time concentrating, but she kept her eyes on the plimpy in front of her and started ripping the meat off in really small pieces and tossed them into the tray as she did so.
Argh... she really wanted this lesson to be over now. ENOUGH WITH THE FREAKY NOISES!

As Prue finished off harvesting stuff from the plimpies she winced as she watched another girl faint, feeling sorry for her but somewhat grateful that she seemed to be ok as soon as the smelling salts were passed under her nose. Ear muffs? Ear muffs would've been great! Why should they have gotten the whole package? The sounds were... ew... and creepy and all sorts of things.
How couldn't Professor LaFay see it that way?! On the bright side they were finally done, any longer and she too would've probably fainted... now there was just homework...

Alyssa picked up her quill, hopefully for the last time in this lesson and wrote down the steps in her journal.

"What do you mean, Potter? Were you not paying attention? You removed the spine from the creatures." Seriously?
"I want you to find a creature, on the grounds, and tell me in 3 paragraphs, how you would go about harvesting it. Two week from right now. is the deadline."
Finally she opened the classroom door and added "Dismissed."

and so the class is done for the day. Jonathan looked at the time. Definitely good enough for a little snack at the great hall and then back at the common room or possibly give himself a rest like he always does everytime he comes back from every class.
He then started to fix up. Threw some of the trash into the bin and cleaned his area. He quickly placed his journal and quill into his bag and stood up from his chair. Walking towards the way out, he gave the professor a quick smile "Goodbye and thank you for today professor" and off he went.
Isla was thankful for the end of class as she was beginning to feel quite hungry. She wasn't entirely sure how she was gong to do her homework but she was going to try her best and if she had any difficulty she would ask the professor for help. She grabbed her bag and headed for the door. "Good bye professor. See you next lesson. " she said waving as she exited the class room.
Oichi was glad the horror of dissecting her plimpie was finally over. She felt sickened to the core as she quickly made his way out of the classroom and heading up as far away from the dungeons of misery as fast as her little legs could carry.

*BlinkBlink* Ella did a double take when Professor Lafay announced that class was finished. She was serious, yeah? They were done? A smile immediately formed on her face as she began cleaning her area. All she could think was that she had survived. She hadn't puked or fainted or anything! Major score! When she was finishing cleaning and organizing her space, the second year copied down the homework and stuffed her notes into her bag, quickly heading towards the exit. Some fresh air was definitely in the cards for her right now. Definitely. "Bye Professor Lafay, see you next time." She said with a small smile before heading out into the corridor and on her way.

'Duh! I know the spine is a bone. I meant the other bones holding the frame together.'Alyssa wanted to tell the Professor, but seeing how the Professor was back to her regular ill tempered mood, Alyssa decided to just let it go. She packed her things and made her way out the door.

Chelle sat up straight- well, as straight as she could- as the Prefect girl supported her back. She was still feeling dizzy, but she still blushed at the thought that something strange had happened and a PREFECT had to help her sit up. This was embarrassing. It certainly was. This Gryffindor was too kind.
"Yeah, I'm fi-- I WHAT?!" Chelle began, hoarsely. She had fainted?! In Lafay's class? Merlin's Beard. Did she need to get into Lafay's bad books? Her eyes darted towards where Kurumi was looking. She saw an older Ravenclaw sitting next to a bucket. It's Vickers! Chelle was a bit surprised. Did he faint, too? She looked back at the Prefect, trying for a smile. "No, I'm-- I'm fine, thank you. Did he... too?" she asked, pointing at Vickers.
As Lafay dismissed the class soon after, and Chelle couldn't keep herself from letting out a sigh of relief. It had been a loooooong lesson. And it had gone terrible. She didn't think she could stand another moment of it. She put her weak palms on the floor and tried to lift her legs, but her knees were still wobbly. She looked at the girl, weakly. She needed help getting up.
ooc: Aww, cute little Ella concerned about Chelle!
