Hecate had just unfrozen all the plimpies in the classroom... She'd even cast a deodorizing spell to cover the smell. Her classroom was ready, and hopefully no one else would need the hospital wing.
ooc: This class is a continuation of Part 1, and will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Antarctica! for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me at the WWoHP, and to Ameh for makin it into a pretty graphic!

This class was getting cooler by the minute. Nigel flicked the slime in a tray and got ready to peal the skin off the creature. This was AWESOME!
He did not want Lafay to be angry with him so he followed her instructions like he always does. He was pealing the skin off the creature, slowly and gentle. He did not want to screw up.
After a couple minutes he got the skin off into four pieces. Nigel was happy about that and maybe next time he would get it in three pieces. He then put the pieces in the harvesting tray and waited to see what the they would be doing next.

If anyone was looking for Ella she was still sitting there...peeling the skin off of the plimpy...yup. Just peeling away...like it was her job. And it was taking forever too. Luckily the second year had managed to get off three large pieces after the first piece ripped almost immediately. Now she had about half of the plimpy left to peel. That wouldn't be too bad right?
Picking at the skin with her fingernail again, the second year was able to get a piece lifted up so she could grab on to it. Right, now all she had to do was pull. Slowly and carefully, Ella tugged on the skin. And she was pleased too, cause it was actually coming off in one piece. Woah! She was like a peeling expert now. Mwahaha! Take that, plimpy. Now you're skinless. Yup. And with a small smile, the rest of the skin was off. And then the second year placed all of the disgusting skin bits on to the tray. NOW was class over?

Oh no here they go...
With a slight jump, the almost-permanently wincing Ravenclaw watched with quiet horror as the Potions Mistress simply turned the Plimpy over with an audible smack. And rrrrrip goes the skin. He gripped the edge of the table so tightly because he could feel himself slipping towards the floor. Woe is he! Woe is he!
With every lift and tug and ripping sound of flesh separating from muscle the Ravenclaw inched his way along, a barely audible groan emitting from his tightly sealed lips whenever pieces of skin would come off in his hand and he had to start teasing and lifting whatever's left on the body. Finally after what seemed like an eternity of peeling he had a small pile of oddly shaped pieces of skin on the harvest tray. He slumped back into his seat, his own skin still crawling and twitching as if someone's been trying to de-skin him too.

- Are found in Lakes
- Seen as pests by Merpeople due to them eating/ destroying crops and property
- Merpeople rid of them via tying their legs together and allow them to float away. Young Plimpies are able to untie their legs after a while. Older ones just float away and die.
- House elves set traps the old/ dead ones-- this is whats being used for today’s class.
- Plimpy Anatomy:

Procedure:
- Wear good fitting gloves and scourgify tools for dissecting
- Carefully untangle Plimpy legs and stretch them out.
- Start with an incision under the scales next to the fins, slice them off and set the fins aside in the tray. Repeat steps for all fins of the Plimpy.
- Take one of the legs and rotate it in its socket to loosen it, hearing it pop out of the socket.
- Use the scalpel to pierce and slice the skin and surrounding musculature to detach the leg.
- Repeat previous two steps for the other leg, set the legs aside in the tray
- Take scalpel and slice Plimpy open, starting with bottom of the tale, up the stomach then all the way to the top of the Plimpy. Lift the open skin and fold them to the sides.
- Gently pop the eyeballs out with fingers, set eyeballs in the organs tray
- Fill bowl with water, pull the heart out, drop into the water bowl to wash off the blood. Fish heart out and place on the organ tray.
- Take the gills out and drop it in the bowl for the water bath, fish it out and place in organ tray
- Pick up spine with organs, starting from the tail end and carefully lift the organs with it, detaching the spine from the base of the Plimpy's skull.
- Carefully pluck off the organs and drop into water bowl
- Harvest slime by barelycarefully squeezing Plimpy body over organ tray, make sure scales are not damaged. Blood and slime will separate automatically before vanishing.
- Turn Plimpy over, remove skin carefully and place on harvesting/ organ tray

Chelle looked at her hands. They did look pretty greasy... and filthy. She rubbed her hands over the harvesting tray and flicked whatever was left of the slime on her hands onto the tray. Then she took the remains of her fish and turned it over as Professor Lafay had done. They had to do what?!
I. Want. This. Class. To. Get. Over. RIGHT. NOW.
Chelle was growing agitated. She didn't want the peel the skin off. She wanted to conjure up a dagger and destroy the plimpy and go back to her dormitory. She was tired of harvesting. But since she was a good and sincere Ravenclaw, she wasn't going to make a fuss. And this was good for her. It helped her practice being strong-willed.
She examined her nails. They weren't very long, but they were long enough. She started from the top and started gently peeling off the skin. For a brief moment, she thought she could go halfway down smoothly, but then the skin tore. "Ugh," she cursed. She tried again with both her hands. She separated the first piece and put it on her tray. Then she struggled again to get the rest of the skin off. After what seemed like two hours, she had rid the fish completely of its skin and on her tray lay five odd-sized peels of plimpy skin.

Jory got all the slime off of his hands after a while and got it into the tray. Next, he turned the plimpy the way Professor Lafay had turned hers.
Peeling the skin off wasn't as bad as harvesting, right? Jory set to work. The skin came off in various shapes as it was peeled off. He carefully placed the pieces into the tray, not wanting to break them into even more pieces.

Glancing down at her gloved hands, Kurumi leaned over her table just a bit until her left hand was hovering over the tray and used her right index and middle finger to squeeze any slime off her fingers and into the tray. She repeated the process with her left two fingers, and then again with her right, and again with her left, until there was no more slime to remove and her gloves were clean. For the most part at least. They still had a slight glimmer to them but the only way to get that off would be to remove her gloves and put them on the tray.
Kurumi's face was one of horror then Professor Lafay essentially slapped the plimpy down on the table like a slab of meat. Sure, the creature was dead and gutted like a fish fillet now, but was there a need to just slap the creature down like that? The woman could be a little more respectful. So, Kurumi gingerly turned the creature over as instructed and then tried to find an edge of its sliced skin that she could begin to work with.
Starting somewhere towards the bottom of the plimpy, Kurumi wrinkled her nose as she began to pull upwards on the creature's skin and bit down on her lip at the squish!rip noise that came from it. This was...disgusting... Kurumi continued to pull when the skin ripped and she placed what she had managed in the first go, which wasn't much, onto the tray. She lost track of how many pieces somewhere around five, but continued to work until she had removed all the skin from the creature.
Now it really looked like a fish fillet...at least now she was able to detach herself from it being a plimpy.

Shaking his hands with the Plimpy carrion still in his hand, a few more slime and blood came down. He placed the Plimpy back on his work tray and got off the excess slime off his hand. He looked up briefly to what his professor was doing and followed suit. He flipped his Plimpy and started peeling the skin. He carefully picked the skin starting from the edge and smirked as he pulled it off. The smirk was quickly replaced with a frown as it ripped off leaving a messy jagged cut to the rest of the skin. He placed the skin on to his harvesting tray without looking away from his Plimpy. He sighed and started peeling again. It really was a hard task, and it seems that the Plimpy's skin was too thin to even peel off as a whole. How Lafay did it was a mystery to him.

Anyway, the only reason Nora didn't want to waste any of it was because professor Lafay said so, and the girl was too afraid to do otherwise. When she was done with that, she turned it around as she kept making disgusted faces at the not-anymore-plimpy. It was... blehh, it couldn't be called a plimpy anymore.
And now... THE SKIN?!

She closed her eyes again, no surprise there, and started pealing the THING'S skin off... but of course she couldn't do it the way professor Lafay did it. She did in four pieces, but at least it was good enough... so she tossed them into the harvesting tray.

Not surprisingly, the next instruction Stella had heard from Professor Lafay after dealing with the plimpy blood and slime was to harvest the skin. Therefore, harvesting the scales that she'd made sure to try and keep intact during the blood and slime harvesting, although that little note that had been made before the direction to peel the skin off made her pause for a moment. You don't want to waste any slime, she repeated silently, thinking back to the couple of times she'd cleaned her gloves in order to keep her notes clean. The professor hadn't seemed to feel the need to reprimand her for that, though, and the odds of it not having been noticed in this lesson were practically nonexistent, so she just resolved to not clean the gloves again until the harvesting was over. It likely was essentially over after this anyhow.
Therefore, she held one hand over the collection tray and carefully tried to use the fingers on her other hand like a scraper to get the slime off. Scraping her fingers on the edge of the tray, she switched hands and repeated the process until both gloves looked almost as clean as she could have gotten them with her wand. Hopefully that was good enough for now, and she moved on to gently flip her plimpy carcass over so the skin side was facing upward. Time to start peeling, and she wasn't about to think she could manage it in one piece like Professor Lafay had. She'd be happy with only a few pieces, but she needed to start either way. Reaching for the cut edge near where the tail fins had been, she found a tiny loose edge and managed to pinch it between two fingers. Pulling upward, trying to go as quickly as possible while still being careful, she flinched slightly at the wet ripping sound it made when separating from the meat, but kept pulling until she hit a particularly stubborn spot where the loose skin just ripped free.
Dropping the skin in her hand into the collection tray, she picked delicately at the edge where it had ripped free, managing to loosen it enough that she could get her fingers between the skin and the meat again, then she pulled upward again. Once again it tore before she got all the way to the head, but she simply placed the new piece into the tray before repeating the skinning process. Third time seemed to be the charm, as she finally managed to get the last of the skin loose and placed into the tray. Now all she had left was plimpy meat, which she really hoped they weren't going to be told to eat. Not after she'd seen everything that went into getting it to that point, but while she waited to see if they were finished with the harvesting, she gingerly peeled a glove off to copy the last couple steps into her notes. She still didn't want plimpy goo on those.

Plimpy harvesting
Step 1: Untangle the plimpy's legs. (They commonly get tied together by merpeople to keep them from being able to damage their property.)
Step 2:Remember to put gloves on.
Step 3: Clean scalpel.
Step 4: Make an incision under the scales near the plimpy's fins, then carefully remove the fins and place them in the collection tray.
Step 5: Rotate legs widely one at a time until the joint pops out, audibly.
Step 6: Carefully cut at the loose skin around the dislocated joint, removing the leg and placing it into the collection tray as well.
Step 7: Cut the plimpy open/in half, starting at the tail and running scalpel straight up around the stomach to the head.
Step 8: Once the plimpy is opened, use thumbs to carefully pop the eyes out of their sockets, placing them in collection tray.
Step 9: Clean a separate dish carefully, and fill with water using Aguamenti, to clean the organs in
Step 10: Still using hands, carefully locate and remove the heart, cleaning it before placing in collection tray (after step 11).
Step 11: Remove gills next, placing in the water for cleaning as well before moving to the collection tray (after step 12/13).
Step 12: Remove spine, taking all remaining organs with it.
Step 13: Pluck the remaining organs from the spine, placing them into the dish of water for cleaning.
Step 14:Harvest the plimpy slime and blood; squeeze empty plimpy remains over collection tray gently (to retain the scales) so the fluids pool up and separate on their own.
Step 15:Make sure to get remaining slime off gloves and into the collection tray so it's not wasted
Step 16:Invert cleaned out plimpy carcass and carefully peel skin off the meat, placing skin into collection tray.

Sarah flicked tehremaining slime off her hands onto the tray and began taking the skin off the plimpy. After somwe time, the plimpy skin was off -in five pieces. The five pieces were put on the harvesting tray.

This is by far the most interesting Potions' lecture Jonathan has been into. He's having quite fun with it, the disgusting plimpy no longer bothers him. In fact, everything just got more interesting now that Lafay wants them plucking the organs out with their own hands and not using any instruments in the process. Yes, it is gross and unlikely like Jonathan but he's really enjoying this slicing and harvesting thing.
He started to pluck the other organs such as the kidney, stomach, liver, etc... and placed them into the harvesting tray. After awhile he watched them as they slowly vanished one by one. Professor Lafay started explaining why they are using their hands for plucking the organs and she did have a point with it. It's easier when plucking things with their hands rather than with instruments. It's convenient that way and faster perhaps.
But then they are now going to harvest even the slime. Ew. Why? Why even the slime? That's even gross than the organs. Jonathan shrugged as he looked at Professor Lafay's demonstration. After observing, with his hand, he squeezed as the blood came out and as well as the slime. He placed them carefully into the harvesting tray.

Slime all over her hands. How in the name of Merlin would Erin removed all of them from her skin? She looked at the others' techniques on removing theirs. Shake. Shake. Shake. And.. another one, finger by finger to slide off the slime onto the tray. And when, almost everything were removed, Erin darted her attention to the revealed Plimpy. Poor creature.
Erin then carefully turned it around so that its skin faces her. And now...peel off. Starting on its head, Erin peeled and peeled a number of times since the skin breaks off everytime. And on to the harvesting tray. When it was almost ripped off with no coverage, Erin looked at the Professor for the next instructions.

They weren't finished? And now they had to remove the skin. Wow, they really didn't let an inch of the disgusting creature go to waste, did they? Silvia flicked as much of the slime as she could into the tray, then slowly turned over the plimpy so it didn't make too loud of a slapping sound. Reaching for one end of the skin, she carefully peeled it until a piece ripped off. She placed the piece in the tray and returned to peeling until the plimpy was bare of its skin. It had taken several tries until all of it was removed. Okay, so now what? How much more did they have to do before they could leave?

Isla turned her plimpy so that it was meat side down and began to slowly and carefully peel the skin off of it. Once she had finally completed the task she had at least ten sections of skin. It had been so hard to not rip the skin and it frustrated Isla as she was usually very neat.

"Don't worry about how it rips..." she dropped it in the water and then the harvesting tray. "Now just start ripping the meat up in pieces, oh and the sound is something plimpies make." She began ripping. The sound was loud, wet, gross and almost like a cry. "You need to make them into small two inch pieces. Try to ignore the sound of the flesh ripping."

Jory gingerly reached over to the plimp's mouth and tugged at it. He got it off in one piece... after some disgusting sounds. After putting it into the water, he placed into the harvesting tray.
He was not looking forward to more of those sounds but he gritted his teeth and began to rip up the plimpy, taking care to be sure he measured out two inch for each pieces before.

Alyssa watched as the Professor demonstrated the last two steps...'Or so she says' Alyssa thought to herself...where she showed how to remove first the poor creature's mouth and then later on how to 'demolish' the rest of the plimpy's body.
Alyssa picked up her quill, hopefully for the last time in this lesson, and wrote down the steps in her journal.

12. Place eyes in harvesting tray.
13. Take dish and clean it.
14. Fill it with water using Aguamenti charm
15. Feel around in the chest for heart using hands.
16. Place heart in tray filled with water.
17. Remove the gills and place in tray.
18. Remove heart and place on harvesting tray.
19. Remove spine from Plimpy and all the other organs will follow.
20. Remove the organs one by one and place in tray filled with water to clean.
21. Take gills and place them on harvesting tray.
22. Take body of plimpy and gently squeeze blood and slime from it over into the harvesting tray. Blood and slime will separate on their own.
23. Need to be careful not to damage scales.
24. Scrape off as much slime as you can from your hands and flick it into harvesting tray.
25. Turn the body of plimpy around so that the meat side is down.
26. Peal off the skin of the creature, slowly and gently and toss it into harvesting tray
27. Hook finger into it's mouth and pull until it rips off.
28. Drop it in the water to clean and then put it on the harvesting tray.
29. Start ripping the plimpy's meat up into at least two inch pieces
She shook her head before proceeding to hook her finger into the plimpy's mouth and began pulling on it until it ripped right off. Still holding it hooked around her finger, Alyssa first dropped it in the tray of water to clean it and once it was cleaned, she placed it on the harvesting tray and watched it disappear.
Then she turned back to what was left of the poor creature, and started tearing it's flesh apart, making sure that each piece she pulled apart was at least 2 inches in length.
She kept ripping and ripping, trying to ignore the wet sounds it made as she tore apart the meat. It got to the point where it grossed her out so much, that Alyssa had to hum the song "Under the Sea" from the muggle movie, Little Mermaid, quietly just to drown out the sounds. At the rate this class was going, Alyssa was pretty sure that she wouldn't be eating any kind of fish any time soon. She continued to rip at the meat taking great care that each piece measured about 2 inches long as she continued to hum the song quietly under her breath.

She began ripping. The sound was loud, wet, gross and almost like a cry. "You need to make them into small two inch pieces. Try to ignore the sound of the flesh ripping."
Prue winced slightly at the sound but bit her lip looking down at her plimpy, obviously internally saying sorry to it. She'd seen fish be cut apart, and all that stuff when her father cooked at home but this took it to a new level. Hooking her own finger into the poor little plimpies mouth she ripped it and gritted her teeth as she fought the urge to throw up. She could do this... couldn't she?
Feeling rather woozy and still with that feeling of sickness she plopped it into the water to make sure it was clean before putting it on the harvest tray continuing to rip it apart, flinching at times at the sounds, sometimes even wincing slightly. She was so glad that it was already dead.

Nora was just about to grin from ear to ear, so happy she was to hear it, but instead gasped loudly as professor Lafay ripped its mouth. It was so BARBARIC! But apparently needed to be done.
Hooking her pointer in the plimpy's mouth - or what was left of it, that is - she pulled until it made that awful noise as she managed to rip it off. Grrr. And then... the flesh. Okay... breathe, Nora... it's the last step.
For this part, she really didn't have to look at what she was doing, because she could feel when the pieces were two inches or however they should be. So she started ripping, although gently, hoping that it would make less noise... but she had no luck at that. And then she ripped... and ripped... until it was all ripped. There, professor, HAPPY?

Chelle was watching Professor Lafay rip off the plimpy's mouth and toss it into her tray. As she started ripping the meat up in pieces, Chelle quickly squeezed her eyes shut. She decided she didn't want to watch it anymore. But the pathetic sounds that the creatures were making made it impossible for Chelle to get the picture out of her mind. It was disgusting. SO disgusting.
Chelle felt a bit wobbly in the knees. She felt really sick, but she tried to stay strong. "Remember that the professor said it's just the last two steps," she muttered under her breath, as if trying to reassure herself. As she opened her eyes, she lifted the plimpy and grabbed its mouth between her index finger and her thumb. She applied little force and the mouth seemed to come off with a terrible sound.
I can't do this anymore.
Poor, sensitive little Chelle collapsed right in her spot.

As Professor Lafay started to speak, all Stella's hopes that they were finished and going to be able to leave without having to do anything else to the plimpy carcass went out the metaphorical window. In fact, she wasn't even convinced that these were going to be the last two
steps, as she'd thought they were finished several times before and more steps had just appeared. Either way, she decided to copy down the instructions into her journal before she attempted to add even more shrieking to the room. It had been hard enough listening to the professor's dead plimpy protesting being torn to bits, and seeing as some of the other students had decided to get the process over with as soon as possible had only added to the din.

Plimpy harvesting
Step 1: Untangle the plimpy's legs. (They commonly get tied together by merpeople to keep them from being able to damage their property.)
Step 2:Remember to put gloves on.
Step 3: Clean scalpel.
Step 4: Make an incision under the scales near the plimpy's fins, then carefully remove the fins and place them in the collection tray.
Step 5: Rotate legs widely one at a time until the joint pops out, audibly.
Step 6: Carefully cut at the loose skin around the dislocated joint, removing the leg and placing it into the collection tray as well.
Step 7: Cut the plimpy open/in half, starting at the tail and running scalpel straight up around the stomach to the head.
Step 8: Once the plimpy is opened, use thumbs to carefully pop the eyes out of their sockets, placing them in collection tray.
Step 9: Clean a separate dish carefully, and fill with water using Aguamenti, to clean the organs in
Step 10: Still using hands, carefully locate and remove the heart, cleaning it before placing in collection tray (after step 11).
Step 11: Remove gills next, placing in the water for cleaning as well before moving to the collection tray (after step 12/13).
Step 12: Remove spine, taking all remaining organs with it.
Step 13: Pluck the remaining organs from the spine, placing them into the dish of water for cleaning.
Step 14: Harvest the plimpy slime and blood; squeeze empty plimpy remains over collection tray gently (to retain the scales) so the fluids pool up and separate on their own.
Step 15: Make sure to get remaining slime off gloves and into the collection tray so it's not wasted
Step 16: Invert cleaned out plimpy carcass and carefully peel skin off the meat, placing skin into collection tray.
Step 17: Hooking a finger into the plimpy's mouth, pull to remove it, then clean and place in collection tray.
Step 18: By hand, rip the meat into small, two-inch pieces.
A distraction was definitely going to be needed, so as she put her gloves back on to finish harvesting her own plimpy, she racked her brain for ideas. She quickly dismissed the idea of using "Blackbird" again, like she'd done before, but eventually settled on quietly humming one of the pieces Matt had played for her over the holidays. If anything, that might help her learn it when he tried teaching her to play again, and it worked to calm her down at least as she hooked a finger into the mouth. Pulling, she tried to focus on the music in her head to drown out the noise of the jaw snapping free. then quickly dropped the loose mouth into the water and then moved it to the harvesting tray. Now all that was left was dealing with the remaining meat, and she really wasn't looking forward to that.
How is meat making so much noise?, she wondered, momentarily breaking her focus on the music in her head but snapping back to it before she picked up the remaining plimpy carcass. There was no way she'd retain her sanity while doing what she needed to without the distraction. After another moment, she eyed the meat in her hand and then ripped. letting the silent musical distraction get louder as the shriek happened. At least the piece that ripped off looked about two inches, so she continued. Trying desperately to ignore the protests of the dead plimpy who it seemed didn't realize it was just a fish fillet by now, and she continued ripping until she ran out of plimpy carcass. That seemed like all she could do. At least if there wasn't any plimpy left, there shouldn't be too much left of the lesson.

He couldnt believe his ears, wondering if maybe he had misheard. But he saw the Professor RIPPING the JAW out like it was nothing. But the worst was when she got to the muscles.
That sound! Like painful, blood curling cries! He thought this thing was dead!
The cacophony of sound echoing in the dungeon walls was too much for him to bear. He was gonna collapse. Yes he was. And retch out his breakfast.
He wasnt even conscious that his own feet has tried to bring him to the back of the class before he slammed head first into the bucket. And just slumped there, not moving.

"Start pealing the skin off the creature, slowly and gently... You won't get it off all in one piece on your first try, I'd be surprised if you can in three pieces." She said removing her plimpy's skin in one piece with ease. "You need lots of practice to do this..." she said and tossed it in the harvesting tray. "Go on..."
...still with the disgusted face, Louisa followed the instructions and got rid of the slime on her hands by flicking it a bit too violently at the harvesting tray that 'absorbed them' without a worry. The Ravenclaw then turned the creature down and fumbling with her fingers, she started peeling the skin off. And no, it didn't feel half as easy as it looked like with Lafay. The skin started coming off in pieces of all shapes really. First they were pretty small pieces but as Louisa concentrated more and moved her hand in a precise way, the pieces were getting bigger. Dumping the skin in the harvesting tray as she went.

Once all the skin was off the Plimpy, the Prefect swallowed and hooked her finger in its mouth, and pulled. The mouth was taken off then, she quickly plopped it in the water bowl. With a disgusted sound from her, she moved it to the harvesting tray.
Now came the barbaric job. "How come they make that sound if they're...dead." Louisa asked curiously, eying her purely flesh Plimpy. Unless.. they weren't dead!!! and all this was pure torture?!!! Pfffffft, right. They were dead. They harvested everything from them. They had no hearts, lungs or anything to be considered alive.
Convinced, the girl started ripping off the meat, wincing at every sound the Plimpy made. She took advantage of the time she spent on altering the piece's size into the one Lafay told them... rip.. rip.. ri-

-p.. rip.. THUD! Louisa raised her eyebrows before turning her head to the source of the sound. Gasping she paused in her work, "Vickers!" She frowned, concerned, and looked up at the professor. She would've pointed out that he probably just fainted... but that made Lafay highly sarcastic and annoyed the last time anyone pointed out something to her, so Louisa just looked at the Dragon lady expectantly.
...she could sprinkle some water in his face? Like she did to that girl? Only this time, it was needed and not childish.

Does this mean the lecture will end SOOONNNN???? NOOOO! Jonathan doesn't want that to happen yet. Time just flew by. It felt like they were just doing all of these in a span of 10 minutes.
The next step is to rip of the mouth, Jonathan used his finger as what is suggested and then carefully ripped it off and detached the mouth off. Good. Then he placed them over to the harvesting tray as well and saw them vanish like the rest of the organs before. The last step is probably the most gruesome thing they have to do in the whole process of this activity. Jonathan peeled the rest of the meat left on the plimpy. He did hear the sound the plimpy is making and it's just... just... just... ack.
