Hecate had just unfrozen all the plimpies in the classroom... She'd even cast a deodorizing spell to cover the smell. Her classroom was ready, and hopefully no one else would need the hospital wing.
ooc: This class is a continuation of Part 1, and will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Antarctica! for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me at the WWoHP, and to Ameh for makin it into a pretty graphic!

Wait, had Professor Lafay really just compared this to plucking grapes? Nawwww. This was most definitely not like plucking grapes. Sure maybe the motions were the same, but plucking grapes was much less...disturbing. But hey, this was class and Ella was here to learn so she was going to do her best to finish the lesson without fainting or something.
Alright, here goes. Ella began disconnecting the organs from the spine one by one and placing them into the water. Many came off easily, much to Ella's delight. The kidneys though, those were posing a bit of a problem for the second year. She just couldn't seem to get them off. "Come" tug "on" tug "you silly" tug "kidneys" twist "you need" tug "to take" twist "a bath." Like seriously? Was anyone else having trouble like this?
With a defeated sigh. The second year eyed the kidneys once more and gave them a nice long glare. "Alright kidneys, you listen to me. I'm in charge of this little show and you're gonna do what I say, got it? And I say you" Tug "Are coming" TUG "OFF." TWIST. PLOP. THANK MERLIN! Ella grinned! She did it! She had removed the organs from the spine. Bahahaha! She was SO good at this. "See, it wasn't that difficult was it?" She said to the kidneys as she placed them into the water. And now it was time to remove the gills from the water, yeah?
Removing the gills from the water and placing them on the tray, Ella watched as they disappeared. And then a question. Why use their hands instead of tools? "Professor, I believe we use our hands because we want to cause as little damage to the organs as possible. Hands are probably gentler than tools on them."

Each was carefully cleaned in the dish with his fingers and decided to leave it for a few minutes to be thoroughly cleaned.
Mordred raised his right hand and answered the Lafay’s question. “We use tools sparingly because the chance of getting the organs damaged is higher than if we use our bare hands.” Because if they did, then they just wasted their time. “Besides, having damaged parts won’t give us satisfactory results when we use it for a potion.” He said as he put his hand down and turned his attention to his other hand where he was still holding the spine. “Professor, do we dump this too in the dish?” he said as he raised it in the air. He wasn’t sure though if it had any use. Probably in its powdered form?

Harvesting a Plimpy
1. Untie the legs
2. Put on gloves
3. Clean scalpel and tray
4. Take scalpel and make incision under the scales of the fish
5. Remove fins from body and place on tray.
6. Rotate legs one at a time.
7. Spread them widely until I hear them pop out of the sockets.
8. Use scalpel and cut along the lose skin.
9. Pull the legs off and put them in tray.
10. Cut from the bottom of the tail, down the stomach, all around the top, slicing it in half
11. Poke the eyes out of the socket by using thumbs.
12. Place eyes in harvesting tray.
13. Take dish and clean it.
14. Fill it with water using Aguamenti charm
15. Feel around in the chest for heart using hands.
16. Place heart in tray filled with water.
17. Remove the gills and place in tray.
18. Remove heart and place on harvesting tray.
19. Remove spine from Plimpy and all the other organs will follow.
20. Remove the organs one by one and place in tray filled with water to clean.
21. Take gills and place them on harvesting tray.
Once she was done writing, she put down her quill and raised her bloodied hand. "Professor are we're using our hands more and using less of the instruments because we don't want to accidentally damage the organs by knicking them with the scalpel?"
"If we use our hands, we can actually detach them more carefully and leave most parts if not all of the organ completely attached and less traumatized."
Alyssa then started working on removing the organs from the spine, slowly detaching them one at a time and placing them into the tray filled with water.
She then gently removed the gills from that tray and placed them on the harvesting tray and watch as that too disappeared.

Anyway...back to plucking grapes. Err, ...organs. First, Sierra placed the cleaned gills onto the harvesting tray and watched them disappear. Then, as she started on the task of plucking organs, she raised her hand and looked up at Lafay. "...because we can control our actions a little better when we're using our hands. We can make sure what we're doing isn't hurting the plimpy, like a tool possibly could," she said. It wasn't foolproof, but it was better than a big scalpel carving through the plimpy's body.
Out popped the first of the organs, and Sierra immediately placed it into the water. She quietly continued the process, actually enjoying what she was doing.

Taking a moments pause before moving to the next organ, she raised a slimy gloved hand. "Is it because tools are more likely to damage the organs?"

Just as they were told, Nora plucked each organ by hand and placed it in the water, doing it without even looking. Well, barely even looking, because she didn't want... no, she didn't NEED to see all those disgusting things. So, when she was done doing that, the girl took the now cleany clean gills and placed them into the harvesting tray as well to disappear.
As for her question, she raised her hand. "It's easier to get them without damaging them, I think."

"With our hands we can get a feel of how to handle it properly without hurting the organ, unlike with tools where we don't know how much pressure we're putting on the material that could potentially puncture a organ." Nessie said looking down at the organs in the water dish.
"Yes. You are all correct. Our hands are gentler, we can control them better and we won't damage the organs... and Miss Edwards is also correct. The plimpy organs stay intact with the natural oils in our hands... where as the metal of the tools ruins the chemical composition." She said.
"Now that we have all the internal organs harvested, we need to harvest the slime. It's great for the skin... use your hands and squeeze the plimpy blood and slime into the harvesting tray. You will see that they separate before pooling apart and disappearing." She said showing how to do it. "Be gentle now... the scales are important too, don't damage those."

Nigel did what Lafay wanted and plucked each of the organs by hand and place them in the water. It actually was quite calming for him and he was really happy it was not alive. Next he took the cleaned gills and place them into the harvesting tray.
Once he was finished with that he moved on to harvesting the slime. He did not answer the question because he did not know it but did write down the correct answer in his notes.
He was trying to do it exactly like Professor Lafay did. He knew he had to be gentle because he did not want to ruin the scales. Using his hands, Nigel squeezed the plimpy blood and slime into the harvesting tray. It was awesome it see them separate before pooling apart and disappearing.

"If the gills stay attached to the heart, go ahead and pull them off. Drop them in the water." she said to the boy.
"Drop the heart in the water. This will allow it to wash off the blood and the plimpy slime." She dropped her plimpy heart in the water. "Now you should proceed to removing the gills. This should be quite easy now that the heart is out. Once they are out, drop them into the water as well. Take the clean heart and place it in your harvesting tray... and it will disappear." She demonstrated.
"Once that's done, remove the spine... all the other organs should be attached to it, and easy to remove."
Still clutching carefully the heart of the Plimpy in her hand, Erin deposited it as soon as the Professor told them to wash it with water. She wathced as the blood and the slime went off. And on to the next one, the gills. Slowly, she removed it using her hands, it felt weird holding these kinds of stuffs. She dropped it on the water immediately. When she saw that the heart's clean enough, she lifted it out of the water and deposited it on the harvesting tray where she watched it disappeared.
She continued the process with the spine, removing the attached organs to it, almost every single one of them.

Seeing the gills cleaned, Erin lifted it out of the water and deposited it into the harvesting tray. She saw her classmates listening intently to the Professor as she ask a question to be thought about. She heard many answers but chose to stay quiet instead. Probably, because the hand can feel?
Plucking grapes one by one. Yeah, Erin could do that. Using her hands, she plucked each and every organ and put it in the water. The only difference was, grapes weren't yuck, the Plimpy was.
"Yes. You are all correct. Our hands are gentler, we can control them better and we won't damage the organs... and Miss Edwards is also correct. The plimpy organs stay intact with the natural oils in our hands... where as the metal of the tools ruins the chemical composition." She said.

Annabelle heard the professor's directions and understand why she only harvested the organs with our hands. It is true that the oil in the human skin can do wonders. Then she used her hands and squeezed the plimpy blood and slime into the harvesting tray. She was being very gentle and didn't want to damage the scales. She was enjoying this part because it was kind of cool seeing the all the goo disappear.
Engorged plimpy. Eeeuuugh bleeehhh! But INTERESTING! Heh! Sophie watched as professor Lafay explained it all, looking from the giant plimpy down to her own, in front of her.
Time to get those eyes out. Eeek! Using her thumbs, Sophie pushed them and could hear the nasty pop sound. She made a face and placed both of the eyes on the tray.
Sophie got a dish thing to use to clean the other organs. "Scourgify." To clean it, obviously. Professor Lafay always wanted them to keep the stuff from spoiling the ingredients and potions! "Aguamenti." She let the water fill the dish, then lifted the spell with a flick of her wand. And now... the heart. Using her hand, she felt the slimy stuff and didn't know whether that was purely awesome or absolutely disgusting. Well, it was both things! After she got hold of the organ, she carefully placed it in the dish filled with water to clean it. Once it was slime and blood free, Sophie turned to place the heart on the tray and smiled at the fact that the eyes were no longer there.
Gills. Weeeeeeeeeird! She looked around before removing the gills from her own plimpy. Those things even looked weird, in her opinion. She held the gills up and stared at them. That was. Just. Weird... she put them in the water and cleaned them before placing them in the tray too.
After watching a few or her classmates pulling up the spine, Sophie looked down at the plimpy she was working with and placed her fingers under its spine. Slowly and carefully, she pulled it up and grinned at all of the organs attached to it. That was brilliant! Holding it tighter with her left hand, Sphie started plucking each of the organs from the spine and placing them in the dish with water. That was actually quite fun! After cleaning every one of the organs in the water, Sophie put them all in the tray and watched the vanish with a smile.
Nice!
Oh? Harvest the smile too?? Sophie eyed the smile. It was cool! She liked the gooey feeling on her hands! Well, at least once her hands had smile all over already. She tried her best to do exactly what professor Lafay had done and squeezed the slime and blood over the tray. Bleeergh! It looked nasty! The blood was what made it gross, actually. The smile was cool.
Once again, she watched as the stuff separated and then disappeared.

Erin listened as the Professor discussed about how important it was to use the hand instead of metal tools when harvesting Plimpy organs. So, that was the reason. She gave her full attention to the murky water where she just dipped some organs of the Plimpy. And then she heard Professor Lafay saying that they needed to harvest the slime and blood from the Plimpy. NO. And then, the magic word came out of the woman's lips, 'Great for the skin.' That was all Erin needed to put away all the things that was clouding her mind on harvesting the slime and blood.
With a smile on her face, she held the Plimpy carefully and squeezed the blood and the slime in the harvesting tray. She watched the blood and the slime separate and then disappeared.

Harvest the slime? Jory had no idea it was also useful. He got to work on removing the blood and slime. Gingerly, he squeezed both over the harvesting tray and watched as the two separated before vanishing.

If the natural oils on their hands were beneficial, then shouldn't they have removed their gloves while doing this? Not that Kurumi wanted to do that. Quite the opposite and the sheer thought of touching all the organs with her bare hands was almost enough to make her stumble out of her seat and towards one of the buckets in the corner.
Instead, Kurumi's jaw dropped when she heard what the next step was. Rewind and FREEZE! They were going to do what exactly?
Staring at the plimpy again, Kurumi timidly picked the empty creature up and held it over the tray. This process seemed so barbaric and Kurumi almost refused to do it...until her hands acted on their own and began to squeeze the creature gently. Again, Kurumi wanted to mention that if the scales were important that they should have removed those first, but she also didn't want to ruin the woman's seemingly pleasant mood.
*SQUISH* .... *SQUISH* .... *DRIP DRIP DRIP
Wrinkling her nose, Kurumi didn't dare look at her tray and instead returned the creature to its stand once the squishing sounds had stopped.

Since she already had her gloves off to write down the last few steps down in her notebook, Stella paused for a moment so she could get all of the next steps written down as well. She'd still get the plimpy harvested, but then she didn't figure removing the rest of the organs from the spine would take too long anyhow. Notto mention she wanted to get everything copied into her notes on the odd chance it would be useful later on. She doubted they'd have to harvest a plimpy during their NEWTs, but anything was useful when it came to studying.

Plimpy harvesting
Step 1: Untangle the plimpy's legs. (They commonly get tied together by merpeople to keep them from being able to damage their property.)
Step 2:Remember to put gloves on.
Step 3: Clean scalpel.
Step 4: Make an incision under the scales near the plimpy's fins, then carefully remove the fins and place them in the collection tray.
Step 5: Rotate legs widely one at a time until the joint pops out, audibly.
Step 6: Carefully cut at the loose skin around the dislocated joint, removing the leg and placing it into the collection tray as well.
Step 7: Cut the plimpy open/in half, starting at the tail and running scalpel straight up around the stomach to the head.
Step 8: Once the plimpy is opened, use thumbs to carefully pop the eyes out of their sockets, placing them in collection tray.
Step 9: Clean a separate dish carefully, and fill with water using Aguamenti, to clean the organs in
Step 10: Still using hands, carefully locate and remove the heart, cleaning it before placing in collection tray (after step 11).
Step 11: Remove gills next, placing in the water for cleaning as well before moving to the collection tray (after step 12/13).
Step 12: Remove spine, taking all remaining organs with it.
Step 13: Pluck the remaining organs from the spine, placing them into the dish of water for cleaning.
Step 14:Harvest the plimpy slime and blood; squeeze empty plimpy remains over collection tray gently (to retain the scales) so the fluids pool up and separate on their own.
Once the steps were recorded, she took her wand out to clean her gloves again so she could get them back on, then stowed the wand. Slipping the gloves back on securely, she returned to her plimpy spine, still waiting after she'd harvested it earlier. Picking it up inone hand, she delicately used her fingers to pluck the organs as instructed, placing them in the cleaning dish with the gills one by one. She refused to think of the process as being the same as plucking grapes from a bunch, only because that might keep her from eating grapes for a while. Setting the spine down, as she was curious if that needed cleaning as well, she picked the gills up and let the water drain off it before they were placed in the collection tray. Another step (or two) finished, and now for the particularly disgusting part. At least she had gloves on, and she hesitantly picked up the scooped out plimpy carcass to hold it in both hands over the collection tray.
Squeezing it, gently at first, she closed her eyes again as the slime and blood started to slowly drip down into the tray, then tightened her grasp incrementally. She didn't want to damage the scales after all, but she also didn't want Professor Lafay to say she didn't get all the slime harvested. It was definitely a delicate, and squishy, process. She was half-tempted to try and sing to drown out the squishing and dripping noises, but once again she refrained. Just to avoid bothering the professor. Luckily, the squeezing was complete soon enough, and she carefully replaced the drained carcass on its stand as the last of the liquids vanished from the tray. Hopefully there weren't many more steps to go.

Chelle tried to calm her nerves by inhaling and exhaling deeply and slowly. Plucking out the plimpy's internal organs by hand wasn't enough. Nope. They had to squeeze out the slime all by themselves now. What kind of a Potions class was this? They were all training to be butchers, not learning how to brew potions. Seriously.
Scowling, Chelle picked up the creature 9or whatever was left of it) and held it in both her hands above the tray. Then she started from the top end and gently squeezed all the blood and slime out. She held her breath as it all came dripping down on the tray. She glared at the pile of gloop.
This is just so gross.
She dumped the creature back and pressed her hands against the table, as if leaning on it. She already felt like a murderer.

Harvest... the SLIME?!
Oh, dear. If it was even possible, Nora got even paler than before. She only hoped she'd get out of that classroom in one piece. And what about the slime, being great for the skin? She was going to get sick.
With her hands, she squeezed the plimpy blood and the slime into the harvesting tray, watching them now separate from each other and then disappearing. Next, the scales... and she hoped the torture would be over.

She wants them to do whaaaat??
They were going to squeeze this poor creature like a rag? He could barely look at the hapless, barely-resembling-a-Plimpy-anymore corpse, feeling that they've taken advantage of it far enough. Still with his gloved hand he lifted its body over the harvest tray and sorta kinda not really squeezed the slime and blood off, mostly just letting whatever fluids would drip off the creature and pool onto the tray. Given the Professor's words they were likely going to de-scale afterwards.
Woe is he.

Potions Class 1 and 2: Harvesting
Creature:Plimpies
- Are found in Lakes
- Seen as pests by Merpeople due to them eating/ destroying crops and property
- Merpeople rid of them via tying their legs together and allow them to float away. Young Plimpies are able to untie their legs after a while. Older ones just float away and die.
- House elves set traps the old/ dead ones-- this is whats being used for today’s class.
- Plimpy Anatomy:
SPOILER!!: something fishy
Procedure:
- Wear good fitting gloves and scourgify tools for dissecting
- Carefully untangle Plimpy legs and stretch them out.
- Start with an incision under the scales next to the fins, slice them off and set the fins aside in the tray. Repeat steps for all fins of the Plimpy.
- Take one of the legs and rotate it in its socket to loosen it, hearing it pop out of the socket.
- Use the scalpel to pierce and slice the skin and surrounding musculature to detach the leg.
- Repeat previous two steps for the other leg, set the legs aside in the tray
- Take scalpel and slice Plimpy open, starting with bottom of the tale, up the stomach then all the way to the top of the Plimpy. Lift the open skin and fold them to the sides.
- Gently pop the eyeballs out with fingers, set eyeballs in the organs tray
- Fill bowl with water, pull the heart out, drop into the water bowl to wash off the blood. Fish heart out and place on the organ tray.
- Take the gills out and drop it in the bowl for the water bath, fish it out and place in organ tray
- Pick up spine with organs, starting from the tail end and carefully lift the organs with it, detaching the spine from the base of the Plimpy's skull.
- Carefully pluck off the organs and drop into water bowl
- Harvest slime by barelycarefully squeezing Plimpy body over organ tray, make sure scales are not damaged. Blood and slime will separate automatically before vanishing.

The.. what? Louisa stared at Lafay as she talk so casually about harvesting SLIME. Couldn't the house-elves do that? She pouted and continued to watch the crazy professor elaborate. And double EEEWWW for squeezing those. Louisa was doing quite fine on taking the organs out but THAT? Just.. gross.
She took a deep breath... and regretted it immediately due to the foul smell. However, she grabbed the Plimpy and moved it above the harvesting tray... with her arms stretched as long as they went and her head craned backward as much as it went. Aaaand the squeezing began. The blood and the slime oozed out of the open creature and they did pool apart before disappearing just like Lafay said. Not that Louisa stuck around to watch, she just caught this by the corner of her eye before moved her gaze onto something else... once she felt it was enough time, the girl put it down.
"Yes. You are all correct. Our hands are gentler, we can control them better and we won't damage the organs... and Miss Edwards is also correct. The plimpy organs stay intact with the natural oils in our hands... where as the metal of the tools ruins the chemical composition." She said.

Sarah grinned when she heard her name being mentioned. See, it was ok to be different. Then she caught herself -was she being vain and boastful. That was bad. Sarah put on a poker face and resumed her work.
First she added some things to her notes
SPOILER!!: notes
Plimpies:
Live in lake
Opinion of Merpeople: consider them to be pests as they eat crop and destroy work.
The way they get of them: tie leg in knot an let it drift away. Result: Younger Plimpies:able to untangle themselves Older Plimpies: float away and die.
In Hogwarts the house elves have trap to catch the floating ones, dead or alive. The alive ones are untangled and thrown into water while the dead ones are harvested for potions.
How to harvest:
1. Untangle legs-gently
22.Slime is good for skin. Harvest slime by squeezing out blood and plimpy slime on harvest tray. They will seperate.
Q:Why is it better to use your hand more when harvesting organs?
A: Natural Oils in hand make plimpy organs stay intact, while the metal of our tools ruins chemical composition. Our hands are gentler, we can control them better and we won't damage the organs.
Then she continued on with the lesson. She squeezed out lots of blood and slime on the tray. As the mistress predicted the pools separated and then disappeared.

Alyssa watched as the Professor demonstrated how to extract the slime from the Plimpy's body. Then she picked up her quill again and started writing the reasons why the organs were harvested by hand, and then added the steps to remove the slime from the carcass.

Once she was down, Alyssa laid down her quill and then turned her head to take a deep breath. This was going to be one of the most grossest parts EVER. Picking up the Plimpy's body, she held it with both her hands and gently squeezed its body, taking care that she didn't put too much pressure on the scales on it's body. As she squeezed, the blood and slime oozed out of the body and dripped into the harvesting tray. She watched as both blood and slime separated and pooled together before quickly disappearing.
Alyssa squeezed until the last drop of blood and slime dripped from the body and then laid the Plimpy's body back on the work table and waited for further instructions.

Cool. So Ella's answer had been right about using hands versus tools. Not surprising though, it was an easy enough question to answer correctly. And Ella had known the organs benefitted from coming into contact with our...natural oils. That was actually kind of interesting. Hmm.
O_______O
CRAZYPROFESSORLAFAYSAYWHATTTTABOUTBLOODANDSLIME?
Ella blinked several times, trying to calm herself down. So they were meant to like...squeeze the dead plimpy...with their hands? They were going to like...drain it of blood and slime? How long would this take? ...and would anyone notice if she fainted? Cause homegirl was feeling quite faint, and her mouth was doing that watering thing again...oh no no no. No throwing up.
Closing her eyes, the second year counted to ten slowly. This was meant to help people calm down, yeah? Too bad she didn't pay more attention to Professor Romanos and her crazy yoga...that might have helped too. Though doing the weird boat pose in here might be kinda weird. Shrug. Alright...eyes open. You can totally do this Ella Bishop. You're a potions goddess. Mhmm...
*GULP* Ella reached down and gingerly picked up the slimy bloody plimpy and held it up over the tray. She did her best not to think too much about the smell and the sounds of the slime and blood dripping that was coming from all around her. Drip..Drip...Drip...The second year shook her head, trying to focus. Okay...this isn't a dead plimpy...this is a ...a wet sponge. Right a sponge...Now simply grab the sponge and squeeze. And she did. "Ew...Ew..Ew..." It was disgusting. It totally was. But she was doing it...and she was still sitting upright...without fainting...or puking...THANK MERLIN.
Watching as the slime gathered on one side of the tray and blood on the other, Ella was relieved that it would be disappearing any minute. Was class over yet?!
WHAT? Harvesting slime? That is disgusting. As if harvesting the organs of a creepy fish plimpy wasn't enough, now they had to save the slime. This is why Silvia would never be a potioneer. There were plenty of other careers to choose from that weren't so disgusting. She picked up the plimpy and held it over the tray. Trying not to watch what she was doing so much, she carefully squeezed the dead plimpy, listening as the slime and blood dripped into the tray. Once it seemed that all the slime had been harvested, Silvia quickly put the plimpy back down on the table. Okay, that was finished, so could they go now?

Oichi had taken all the organs out and thought that was horribly disgusting but little did she know that the most disgusting task was the one upon her now. Squeeze this horribly disfigurws to get it's blood and be careful to save the scales. Oh, the priorities here. I am sure I never want to become a a potioneer, ick She picked up the gross flat plimpy skins and carefully wrung them dry right onto her tray. There was not much left to the creature now so she was confident the wirst was iver Thank goodness.

Isla gently began squeasing the plimpy blood and slime into her tray and she shuddered as she watched it. It was so gross.

She said removing her plimpy's skin in one piece with ease. "You need lots of practice to do this..." she said and tossed it in the harvesting tray. "Go on..."

Alyssa grimaced when she saw what they were supposed to do next. 'REALLY?? Could we leave this Plimpty some dignity.' Alyssa thought to herself. But this was potions class, although the most disgusting so far, and continued to observe at Professor Lafay proceeded to demonstrate how to remove the skin off the creature. Once she was done. Alyssa picked up her bloodied quill and quickly wrote down the steps in her journal.

24. Scrape off as much slime as you can from your hands and flick it into harvesting tray.
25. Turn the body of plimpy around so that the meat side is down.
26. Peal off the skin of the creature, slowly and gently and toss it into harvesting tray
Alyssa lay down her quill and first started scraping off the remainder slime on her hands and fingers, flicking them as they dripped off into the harvesting tray before her. She continue to scrape and flick until her hands were almost dry although it still looked bloodied.
Then she picked up the body of the plimpy and turned it around until the meaty side was facing down against the workstation. She heard it slap wetly against the workstation and her tummy threatened to rebel again. 'We're almost done, Lyssie. You can do this. You will not upchuck in front of the Professor.' Alyssa told herself.
Determined to get through this class without embarrassing herself, Alyssa reached out and started pealing off the skin of the plimpy. She did is slowly and gently and lifted off as much skin as she could before it tore apart from the rest of the body. She took whatever skin she had and placed it on the harvesting tray.
Then she turned back and tried to pry the remaining skin from the creature's body again. She slowly but gently worked along the edges, pulling even more gently and slowly when it threatened to tear apart again, and when she successfully got it removed from that part of the body, continued to slowly remove the skin. But then she reached a point and it tore apart again. This time Alyssa had a larger chunk of it. She picked it up with both hands and laid it on the harvesting tray.
She looked down at the body of the plimpy. It still had a large piece of skin left on it. Alyssa sighed and leaned over and picked at the skin until it came apart from the meat. Then she started pulling it slowly from the meat, using her fingertips to slowly separate the skin from the meat as she worked along. She worked slowly until she came to where the legs used to be. She tried to pull the skin around it without tearing it but the skin refused to separate from the meat and tore again in her hands. Alyssa breathed a sigh of disappointment. She was so close to removing the entire skin. Picking up that piece of skin, she placed the 3rd portion of the creature's skin into the harvesting tray.
Alyssa looked at the body. She only had a little more to go. Taking a deep breath and letting it out, she picked at the skin again, until she had a pried a large piece from the meat and then slowly started pulling it from the body. Again like before, she used the fingers on her right hand to pull it, while she used the fingers on her left hand to separate it from the meat. She continued doing this slowly and gently until she successfully had the last piece of skin in the hand. Heaving a great sigh of relief, she picked up the skin and placed it gently in the harvesting tray.
She then sat back and rolled her shoulders. She was tired.
"Make sure to get all that good slime off your hands and flick it into the tray... You don't want to waste any. Now. Turn it around so that it's meat side down." She did so with a wet and loud slap! "Start pealing the skin off the creature, slowly and gently... You won't get it off all in one piece on your first try, I'd be surprised if you can in three pieces." She said removing her plimpy's skin in one piece with ease. "You need lots of practice to do this..." she said and tossed it in the harvesting tray. "Go on..."
Selina hated potions, that was for certain. And this whole lesson only solidified her emotions towards the specific subject. Skinning creatures was horrid. Seriously, it was gross. Selina liked to eat meat- not skin it. Merlin, she would not be able to eat meat for dinner that night or at least she would not be able to do it with a clear mind.
But she did as she was told and slung the slime from her fingers. Once it was all on the tray where it belonged she looked at the skin with a lurch in her stomach. She did NOT want to do this... She wanted to wolf down a cookie and hide. But she finally swallowed her throw up and then lifted her fingers to take off the skin. At first she tried to slowly pull it off, but all she got was a small sliver. Then she tried to pull from two ends together so they would meet in the middle. Then she started to pull away at small pieces of skin until the task was done. It took at least twenty pulls of skin, probably more.

Hmm. Sierra hadn't thought to say anything about the natural oils in her hands. Actually, she hadn't even known there was a direct relation, but...you learn something new every day. She actually peeked at the palms of her hands for a few seconds then went straight back to work.
Grabbing a hold of the plimpy, Sierra positioned it over the harvesting tray and used her hands to squeeze out the plimpy blood and slime. She kept a careful eye on both as they separated then finally disappeared. She'd just finished up when she heard Lafay's voice echoing around the room.

Putting aside what was left of the plimpy, Sierra flicked the blood and slime from her hands into the tray. Hearing the loud slap of the plimpy, Sierra grinned in amusement and then slapped her plimpy down, as well. With the creature now meat side down, Sierra started peeling its skin off. She peeled the first piece off slowly then put it off to the side. She did the same with the second. When it came to the third piece, though, she was much more careful. Since Lafay said she'd be surprised if they could do it, Sierra was bound and determined TO do it.
...but then when it ripped off, she frowned. There was still another piece left. Annoyed at the plimpy, she took the fourth piece off and tossed it into the harvesting tray, as well.

Ella was watching Professor Lafay carefully, making sure that she got down each direction before carrying them out. The second year almost died at the slapping sound as the plimpy was slammed down on the table. She jumped a bit and looked around sheepishly before sitting quite still again. ICK! That sound...THAT SOUND! It was enough to make Ella's stomach flip flop all around. She cringed, knowing that she too would have to flip her plimpy in a moment...it wouldn't make that sound too, would it?! WOULD IT?! O__O
The pealing the skin part Ella could handle. That part wasn't too gross. She had seen her Gran take the skin off chicken before so she didn't really need to worry about puking during that part of the task. FINALLY! A worry free part. It was about time. And then it was time to act. Right. Ella was ready...sort of.
With a disgusted look on her face, Ella flicked her hands at the tray, watching as a spray of slime covered it. She frowned, shaking her head. Next she very reluctantly picked up the plimpy and flipped it meat-side down. SLAP. UGH! Ella would never forget that sound...like she was going to surely have nightmares about this. Mhmm. Then came the hard part, peeling off the skin. Ella started at the bottom, using her fingernails to get a loose piece up and grabbing hold of it gently. She began to pull it along and frowned when the skin ripped only a little bit away from where she had started pulling. Apparently Professor Lafay was right, this was going to take a lot of practice...

This should be quite easy now that the heart is out. Once they are out, drop them into the water as well. Take the clean heart and place it in your harvesting tray... and it will disappear." She demonstrated.
"Once that's done, remove the spine... all the other organs should be attached to it, and easy to remove."
Taking the Plimpy's heart Oakey placed it into the dish of water to clean the blood from it.
With his gloved fingers he pinched them around them and tugged at them gently as they smoothly slickly came out of the plimpy.
Holding the Plimpy's gills in his one hand he reached into the red tinted water and picked out the tiny heart, then placed it in the harvesting tray. He placed the gills into the water next then moved onto the next step just as Lafay was instructing them to.

Blech! Organs and grapes should not be compared to one another. Note to self; don't eat grapes today or ever. Picking out the spine with his hand he held it in front of himself and plucked out the first organ. Holding it carefully in his hand he removed the gills from the dish and placed them into the Harvesting tray. he then plopped the next organ into the dish. Oakey repeated this of plucking, washing, and harvesting until the spine was bare.

So they were going to the slime next. Good, Oakey couldn't be ride of sooner. This slime had caused him a lot of trouble in the last class. Picking up the empty plimpy okay squeezed it's lifeless and bare body over the harvesting tray. The slime was coming down real slowly and it reminded him of toothpaste...WAIT! NO NOT TOOTHPASTE! HE DIDN'T MEAN! Merlin now he probably won't bother with brushing his teeth now either.

his attention was directed towards the front of the class the moment Lafay slapped the plimpy onto her desk. He watched as Lafay peeled back the skin of her plimpy. Pssh One peel couldn't be that hard He thought. Using his finger he carefully lifted the skin that ripped before he could even pull it back. Grrrr, stupid dead plimy! oakey tried again and took off a small piece of skin. He dropped this into the harvesting tray and peeled off about twenty pieces of plimpy skin once he was done.
