The Ravenclaw common room is a wide, circular room at the top of the seventh floor. Graceful arched windows punctuate the walls, which are hung with blue-and-bronze silks. During the day, Ravenclaws have a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains. Overhead, the ceiling is domed and painted with stars, which are echoed in the midnight-blue carpet. There are tables, chairs, and bookcases, and in a niche opposite the door stands a tall statue of white marble: Rowena Ravenclaw. A delicate-looking circlet has been reproduced in marble on her head with the tiny words 'Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure' etched into the diadem. The statue stands beside a door that leads up to the dormitories above.
Come in, have a seat and make new friends. Welcome to Ravenclaw!
Elise looked up from her sketchpad to see Presley. She remembered her. Presley'd helped her try to get over her mom. And it was working... slowly. Turning to face her, she grinned.
"Hi, Presley," she smiled, turning the page of the sketchbook. "Had a nice summer?"
"The food was great!" she beamed. "The house elves have outdone themselves, really." And the Baby Elf? Well, El had thought of one. It sounded strange enough. But this was Erin's. "What about LuLu?" Oh, the Baby Elf. "Err... Isn't that a little too human-like?"
Weird name. "How's Wonkle sound to you?" she asked, without looking up from her sketchpad. Completing the last few strokes of her face, El turned the book for Erin to see.
"It's supposed to be you, but I haven't done the hair yet," Elise beamed. Twirling her pencil around her thumb, she hoped it wasn't bad. She thought it was good. El had practiced on random people on buses. And if those turned out okay, this would.
Presley looked over to see who was speaking to her. It was Elise. They weren't necisarily close friends, but they knew and acknowledged each other. Presley grinned at the younger girl. "It was fabulous. Yours?" She almost instantly felt bad for asking. She knew just the summer before the girls mother had died. It seemed insensitive. Of course she would have had the toughest summer of her life. Presley had, the year her mother had died. But she couldn't retract the question once it had been asked, so she just smiled at Elise, and hoped the girl knew she meant well.

Ran away? That wasn't good. Presley had run away before, but she'd always had a sure place to go, and she'd always come home eventually. "Where did you go?" she asked in shock. Because it wouldn't do to have the girl not have a safe place to go for the summer this year. "I mean, of all people I can understand having it rough at home, but Elise, honey, you can't just leave your problems. I promise you, they'll still be the same problems no matter where you sleep at night." She would still hurt over her family, and she would still miss her mum. That didn't change when she came to Hogwarts, it wouldn't change if she ran away.

On impulse Presley stood and hugged the other girl tightly. She'd never dealt with abuse herself, so she really didn't know what it was like. All she knew was that Elise was vulnerable, and just needed to know she was safe somewhere. "Elise, you need to report him to somebody." she said firmly. "That's illegal, and just wrong." Presley did, however, have a pretty good base knowledge of laws and politics. She knew that hitting a minor, cursing them, or anything that left a mark could put a person in jail. Not that it was a good thing, but he needed to learn. And if jail was the only way... it needed to happen.
Kendra walked into the common room tiredly, following the many other first years that had been here before. She held her rat tiredly in her hands after fainlly finding him half way up a staircase. Taking her time, she glanced around the room, taking in her surroundings before collapsing on an armchair, sighing with relief. This had been one evening to remember, from being sorted, to eating to much, to losing her pet, it seemed it had all happened, and yet she still had years in this magical place.
Alex entered the Ravenclaw common room. "Wow", she thought to herself. The room was very impressive. She was going to enjoy spending time here. There were a few other students in the room, but the were clearly not first years. They appeared to be in deep conversation and she was reluctant to interrupt.
Alex gave a very shy "hi" to all and sat down at one of the tables. She was feeling rather awkward so she decided to do what made her most comfortable, read. She took out one of her school books and got started. Hopefully, Melanie and Silvia would come soon.
“Wow,” said Silvia when she stepped into the Common Room. She was a little out of breath from the trek up so many stairs, but it was definitely worth the energy. She glanced around the room for her friends. The large crowd of students leaving the Great Hall at the same time caused them to get separated a little, but Silvia made sure to keep an eye on a few older Ravenclaw students as they made their way to the dormitory. She hoped she could remember how to find her way here later; she wasn’t always good with remembering directions. Alex was already there, sitting at a nearby table, already with a book in hand.
“I think Melanie should not be far behind me,” she said as she took a seat next to her friend and looked towards the door. “I can’t believe this is where we get to live for most of the next seven years!”
Jayden walked into the common room the morning after the feast and emitted a huge sigh. Finally, she was home. So many stressful things had happened last night that had her in the dumps, but there still were a few positive things, like Cael, and Jordan, Nate, and Jez.
Now if only she could make-up with Elliot, she would be a lot happier of a person.
Cael mumbled to himself quietly as he entered the common room, pushing his normally neat hair out of his eyes where it had fallen messily on his jaunt to the Ravenclaw tower. Luckily, tonight's entrance question hadn't been too difficult, ('Name three known properties of dragon's blood'), which was fortunate considering the depressed mood he couldn't seem to shake.
His glower eased somewhat when his eyes settled on the well-known furnishings scattered throughout the plush common room, the soft couches and vibrant tapestries calming some internal anxiety he hadn't been aware of until that moment.
Sighing gratefully, he plunked down on one of the available wing-backed chairs, determined not to wallow in the guilt that was threatening to tear at him. Scrubbing the heel of his palm across his forehead, he mentally replayed the fiasco that had brought it about in the first place.
Elliot... Merlin, how could he have done that to her? More importantly, how had he gotten himself into a situation where he'd needed to choose between them? Girlfriend or girl friend... it wasn't about who was right or wrong, Cael wasn't mad at either of them. Well, maybe for getting him into this mess, but he would never abandon either of them. He loved being friends with Elliot!
Everyone else might not see it, but the girl was a riot. No one else could hold their own against his brand of banter except her and he was able to talk to her about some of the darker aspects of being the child of a Pureblood family without instantly starting some kind of blood debate. They understood each other perfectly. Most of the time.
He'd just apologize to her the next time he saw her. It was decided.
Cael also felt particularly guilty for ignoring the first years at the Feast, too worked up over his friends to properly meet any of them. Well, maybe now was the time to change that.
"So how do you like it here so far? I'd say we've got the best common room by far," he smiled at a few of the new faces he could see, hoping one of them was up for some conversation.

Kendra was surprised at first with the amount of chairs in the common room, there just seemed to be the right amount, enough for most to sit down, without, of course, cluttering up the space. She liked it. It made the whole place seem more like home.
She was sitting cross legged on the chair with the rat on her lap, muttering different names under her breath whilst she watched him with interest, every move, the catch of her breath on his fur, the movement of his nose as he tried to hunt down a new smell. Amazing. She had decided long ago that she would like to work with animals, muggle ones at that stage. But now... she couldn't wait to see the creatures in her book for herself. Grindylow's, Hippogriff's, Dragons. Mythical creatures in any fairytale. But now they were real.
She fished a small jelly bean from a peculier pack that she had bought on the train to Hogwarts. She had, at first, assumed they were normal. Before being brought to near tears by an chilli one. She was sure this one was cheese flavoured, hence giving it to the rat. She watched it eat as she replied to the boy. 'Sure is breath taking, to say the least.' She replied not looking up. 'Seems you can see right to the station if you look out the window.'
Morgan walked into the common room, rather thrilled with herself for getting the question right. she looked around and saw a number of people were there, but there seemed to be a few chairs still open. but which one should she take? awkwardly she tried a few out, and plopped herself down and looked around...now what she found a spot, what should she do? she started humming quietly wishing for a new friend, but still way to shy to start up a conversation.

"I'm Caelius, a second year, by the way. Caelius Ashdown, but most people just call me Cael. It's easier," he smirked, wiggling back into the chair until he was seated more comfortably. "And you are...?"

She nodded in response 'I know right?' She answered, maybe he liked animals too? That would be good to know someone in this place who liked them aswell. Her parents had hated animals, and it was a small miracle they had allowed Kendra to even have a rat, but it wasn't their fault. Kendra knew one of them had an allergy or something. She had spent around an hour watching the bats but... asking her parents would have been pointless. Kendra made a note to write them a letter, as they had asked her too. She would miss them.
'Loads of people would freak out too.' She noted outloud. 'This little rascal escaped earlier and ran across the great hall, caused a few Gryffindor's to scream.' She guestured to the rat, who was now fast asleep. It had taken long enough to find him after the feast, which meant sneaking away from the prefects after they had told them the location and password of the common room.

Jayden plopped down beside Caelius in one of the more antique looking chairs and took out one of her new Herbology books. "Hello darling.. have a good sleep?" She asked. Last night had been a bit stressful, and she was hoping to make it up to him later...
Elliot drifted into the common room, a thick, leather book in hand. She had her blonde hair sprawled down her back, and she had a laced black witch hat. Sure, it was inside, and maybe classes hadn't started yet, but she felt like wearing it! She knelt down at a table and slammed the book down with a THUD. She opened it up, exposing a complicated tree with black and white photos on it. There was a piece of paper with the beginnings of a letter which Elliot then quickly unfolded and lay flat on the table. She pulled out a fluffy black quill and let it tickle her face a bit before she began to finish her letter. She looked up, saw jayden...and Caelius. She immediately wanted to scowl, but refrained from doing so. She simply kept that apathetic, icy stone facial expression.
If either of them says a word...I WILL leave... she thought bitterly. The present she had wanted to give to them was tucked in her trunk. She had no need for it..

Having eaten her fill, Lily proceeded to find her way up to the Ravenclaw Common Room. Once she got to the door, and entered the room, Lily sighed quietly thanking her father(in her head) that he had gotten her active and in shape. Looking around the room, Lily saw a bunch of people from, what it looked like, various years. Lily being new and shy, walked over to the window and looked out. The view was amazing. Still unsure of what to do next, Lily wandered over to the edge of the room, curled up in a comfy position and pulled out her book, from her rucksack. Before she started reading though, Lily thought about what had happened since her arrival and since she had left her family. Should I write to them, or should I wait for later. she contemplated in her head. It would be good to tell them that she had met 2 other ravenclaws that seemed to be really nice, one first year like herself and one of the older ravvies to act as her guide and maybe 'older sister' figure.

Well yeah..this was going to be her home for the next 6 years. She hoped the saying 'home is made of hearts' would come true..'Well yeah..Hogwarts is gonna be my home for the next 6 years and I don't mind that at all..since I love it here!!!,' she said.
To the other two girls whom harvey was talking to she said 'Hiya..I'm Laura..second year..'
"Hi Laura", Alex replied. "I'm Alex, first year. It's nice to meet you. This place is amazing, isn't it?." Alex was glad Laura had introduced herself. She was a little afraid to reach out to the other, older students. "So you're new to Hogwarts too?", Alex asked.

Morgan saw the yong man come in and sit down, and heard his carrying voice as she was in thought. since she really was shy anyway, and needed to get better at that, she decided to answer him, maybe she might strike up a friendship! "It's quite lovely" Morgan said sort of flustery "i wouldn't know what the other common rooms look like, but it's quite nice, and rather comforting." she added feeling more confident with each word. "I'm Morgan, first year, nice to meet you" she said standing up and walking over to him sticking her hand out to shake.
Alex entered the Ravenclaw common room. "Wow", she thought to herself. The room was very impressive. She was going to enjoy spending time here. There were a few other students in the room, but the were clearly not first years. They appeared to be in deep conversation and she was reluctant to interrupt.
Alex gave a very shy "hi" to all and sat down at one of the tables. She was feeling rather awkward so she decided to do what made her most comfortable, read. She took out one of her school books and got started. Hopefully, Melanie and Silvia would come soon.

She glanced around the room for her friends. "Hey guys- WOW!" Melanie exclaimed as she entered the common room. "This is...wow..." she breathed, awestruck. It was beautiful! The roaring fire highlighted the cozy couches and rugs, and reflected off the windowpanes that had a breathtaking view of the night sky.
"Can you guys believe we get to live here!?" Melanie looked around the room and noticed a couple staircases leading up either side. "Um, anyone know which one of those goes to the girls' dormitories? That's one mix-up I definitely want to avoid!" she laughed.

Taylor skipped into the common room. She was tired but happy. Taylor saw Violet and went up to her, "Hey." She smiled.
"erm hello." said Morgan rather suprised by the bubbly girl. she shook her hand. "My name is Morgan." she wasn't sure about the "best of friends" part, but she seemed nice enough, and now this other girl popped up...jeez this might be interesting.
