Twenty feet away from the potato sack races there is an enclosure where the dueling matches will take place. Stepping inside the enclosure you will see a raised platform in the centre of the room with torches aligning the walls and surrounding the platform. The actual dueling arena is ten feet by ten feet, allowing for movement around the platform.
The object of the duel is to cast spells at your opponent and force them into submission to decide a winner. As this is a wizard’s duel only magical means of combat is allowed.

Everyone earns token for participating.
The winner of the dual also wins ONE of the following (as well as bragging rights):
A wand holster, wand care kit, wizarding first aid kit.
The IC rules:
Both opponents must stand in the centre of the platform and bow to each other.
Turn and take ten paces, then turn and face your opponent again.
Begin duel.
Duelers must stay on the platform at all times. If you are forced off or step off the platform three times then you will be disqualified.
No Unforgivable curses are to be used. You will not only find yourself disqualified from the dueling match but you will be EXPELLED from Hogwarts.
The last person standing is the winner.
If it appears the duel is a draw then an official will decide the winner on the spells that were cast.
The OOC rules:
Each dueling session will be open for an hour at a time.
A question will be asked at the beginning of the session. The first to answer will determine the winner of the duel.
The first two competitors to answer the question correctly will duel. In the event that the year groups are too far apart i.e. a first year and a fifth year, the first year and the next person closest to that year group will duel. Alternative arrangements will be made to accommodate the other (fifth year) person.
The two competitors may then RP their duel. REMEMBER YOU HAVE ONLY ONE HOUR TO RP THE DUEL. So please ensure that you are online at that time.
If for some reason you have to leave in the middle of the duel, then please inform the staff member who is running it at the time and other arrangements will have to be made.
While we encourage creativity, please remember your character's age and their capabilities.

Beezus hurriedly ran to the platform and paced to the center as she faced her opponent. A first year Hufflepuff eh? She smirked a little and got ready with her wand.
Nate seeing his opponent was a second year. He wasn't nervous. He got his wand ready. He bowed to his opponent and took 10 steps back and took a starting position.

Oh. This first year sure knows how to talk. But Beezus didn't feel like replying to that. Instead, she grinned at the younger boy, held up her wand. And..."Diffindo!"

The first year sure knew quite a few useful spells. But it won't be useful against her. She was playing Quidditch for Merlin's sake, that meant she had fast reflexes. And because of that, she managed to dodge the Stunning Charm easily. Her turn. "Confringo!" she exclaimed. And no, she wasn't done yet! "Rictumsempra!"

Whoa. And whoa. "Hey!" she couldn't help but exclaim. That boy surely was getting on with their duel fast. He was imitating the spells that she was using. "Protego." she muttered, creating a shield for the time being. She then quickly thought of another spell she could use. "You...incarcerous!"
Whoa a spell that he didn't even know. All he could think was "Protego. Now let's see augamenti. Followed by incarcerous." Nate's gameplan was to mimick her every move.

He was such a doppelganger! But he was quite good, following her every incantation. Too bad he didn't knew that well the wand movement and his incarcerous spell had rather not worked properly. Beezus raised her wand again, "Diffindo!"

Beezus stared at the boy as she kept muttering the Protego spell under her breath while she swished her wand back and forth. Were long conversations really that necessary? She ducked out of the way as the Flipendo spell came zooming towards her then as she looked back at the boy, she saw a chance. "Expelliarmus!" the eaglet yelled.

Beezus reared her body to the left to avoid being hit by the Expelliarmus spell. Once she regained her balance, she glared at the boy. In need of conversation or not, she was going to talk, "Stop imitating my spells!" Didn't he knew about originality? "Stupefy!" she muttered as she plunged forward.

Since Cece had no customers in the healers tent right now she had decided to walk around the grounds and see what was going on. You know, make sure everyone was having fun and being safe.
The first event she happened to stop at was the Magical Shootout Dueling Match! She stood there watching as these two young children were casting spells at each other that even she didn't know until later in her schooling. It amazed her how someone so young could actually know some of these spells. Than again, they obviously didn't know them all that well since they weren't actually working.
Wait a minute. She KNEW who that boy was. That was the boy she had just had in her office. The one that caused Oakey to land in the infirmary... due to him using spells he was no good at. And now here he was... dueling. Once again casting spells at another child. He is so lucky this is a monitored duel or he would stand the chance of losing even more points.
But enough of those thoughts, It was time to end this crazy duel.
Stepping closer to the platform she called out in a loud voice.. "TIME'S UP! THE WINNER OF THIS DUEL IS BEEZUS!"

Beezus gasped for breath as the new Healer came in and stopped their duel. She felt so relieved, after all she had bee joining quite a few games on the Founder's Fandango before this and it made her rather very tired.
When it was announced that she won, she couldn't help but grin widely. She pretty much used some spells she did not know, only the incantation. So winning was a huge achievement for her especially since she wasn't the kind that memorized incantations easily. She headed to where the first year boy was, "You did great. Great spells.." Others didn't work though. "Good luck next time." she added as she smiled brightly at him.
Then she jumped off from the platform and approached the Healer, "Excuse me Healer....." What was her name again? "Uhm..is it possible to rest in the tent for a while?" she inquired. She didn't have any injuries, she just needed to rest a bit.

Cece watched at Beezus congratulated Nate on the duel. Good, the girl knew how to show good sportsmanship. Now the question would be did Oakey know how to do the same thing? Hopefully he wouldn't be a sore losers or anything like that.
Oh, Beezus wanted to rest in the tent? "Well, since I'm not in there now and you're not actually hurt I think maybe you should just rest out here." Looking around for a moment she found a nice shade tree. "There, under that tree. You should be able to get rested and you'll be able to watch the next duel if you'd like." And Cece would be able to find that adorable CoMC professor check out the other games that were being played.
