Lauren grinned at her friend, "Thank you," she sighed with relief. "I'm sure you would have found a partner, but I don't think I would have," she explained with awkward smile.

"So, do you want me to be the guy? Or?"

It's a good thing Lauren and I are such good friends, otherwise this might be awkward... Orchid thought. "No it's okay, I'll be the guy, I guess." She said to Lauren. "Cause I am a visual learner, so if I see you dancing the girl part I can still learn it, so me being the guy would make sense...right?" She asked, still confused slightly. "And I doubt that I would've found a guy, I'm still just the new girl remember, even with being half-Veela." She commented off-handedly.

What had she gotten herself into? Gazing around at all the students, Seren couldn't help but feel a little nervous. She didn't want to ruin Chad's lesson.. so she'd try extra hard to... be good.

Smiling and nodding, and occasionally giggling, Seren followed Chad's instructions and rested her left arm on his right arm. This wasn't so difficult.
She gave him a quick wink. She was ready... and this was going to be fun! Even if the students did get a laugh from it at the end of the day.

Damon held up his left hand as instructed and grabbed Ivory's right hand gently "I think we are going to do a swing here it looks like, Im not too great at doing that but i have to try" said Damon.

Paulie smiled back.

Okay, good. So she was glad that he'd asked her. It was just a bit of dancing anyhow; it wasn't like it was the end of the world, eh? "Kenzi. Got it." He said with a nod. And it was actually a relief, knowing that she wasn't some incredible ballroom dancer, 'cause then he'd just feel crappy for making her dance with him. "Break something? Oh lordy, the skelegrow stuff would be the worst of that.." Blehh. The healers could at least add sweeteners or tasty flavors to that stuff, couldn't they? Nah, they probably liked to watch the injured kiddos squirm from the nastiness.



Paulie turned his attention to Stryker and Bentley, then listened intently as the instruction began; the boy didn't wanna mess this up. Okay, left hand with hers... right hand on back. The groundkeeper prompted them all to try and he turned back to Kenzi.

"Right, okay.." He cleared his throat, a little nervous, then took a step closer to her. With his left hand he took hers and held it at her eye level. 'Kay, check. He then moved his right arm around her and placed his hand on her back, just below the shoulder, like Mr. Stryker said. "I think that's right.."

Eino nodded and right when he was about to respond, the groundskeeper clapped. No more time to chat, or at least not until they started practicing their dance moves. He watched closely as the groundskeeper taught them the dance, then proceeded to demonstrate it with Professor Bentley. Now, Eino was no expert, but the two adults didn't seem to be doing bad at all. Hands together, then one hand on her back, over the shoulder blade, then they just move around in a triple meter. Okay, not so hard, but Eino had been expecting them to just hold each other's hands and do a few twirls or something. This wasn't that simple, but it always seemed so effortlessly elegant to him.

When the groundskeeper concluded the first part of his demonstration and instructed them to begin, Eino turned to Aspen. He drew a little closer to her, invading her personal space, and offered his left hand to her. Then, he placed his right hand on her back and over the shoulder. He looked at the two professors for reference and he seemed to have done everything right so far. When he finally looked back up-- MERLIN, they were CLOSE. He was sure he could count her eyelashes! He tried to take a step back but it was impossible without letting go of her. Hopefully, he wasn't making her too uncomfortable. "Is that okay?" He said just for the sake of saying something, and good thing he hadn't eaten anything stinky for breakfast and brushed his teeth thoroughly.

Rafe smiled. It was a step to reconciliation. Rafe couldn't help, but smile as she changed her clothes. "You look beautiful." He smiled and then listened for further instruction. He was very excited about dancing and even more excited that it was with Marilyn. Dancing was about movement and getting close to one another. Not that he wanted anything to really start...more like he was still desperate for her forgiveness.

Closed position. That was his answer and that was the position they were asked to get in. He reached down and gently took Marilyn's left hand and set in on his shoulder. Rafe then moved in a little closer and placed his right hand around her waist, then moved it up closer to her shoulder blade as instructed. Then, he took her right hand into his left and positioned it their arms slightly to the side at eye level. He was so focused on getting in the right formation, he hardly looked Marilyn in the eye.

Rafe went from looking to their hands being held and then scanned over and looked into her sparkling green eyes. "Um...so...I...I hope this is right." He spoke with what felt like a huge lump in his throat. He swallowed air. "Are you okay?" What kind of question was that? Of course she was okay, but was now probably regretting to dancing with a bumbling idiot.

Kurumi had been sitting off to the side, trying to make herself look as small as possible during the entire dance discussion. Dancing, especially in pairs, was not something she had really ever done - save once or twice - and she could feel her stomach tying in knots as she waited.

Arms folded across her chest, Kurumi leaned against...whatever was behind her and waited. Maybe...she could make herself blend in with the wall...

"Well, bonjour," he smiled, chuckling. "You look nice today. I promise to send you a fruit basket for being dragged into this. Or, would you prefer chocolate? Perhaps a drink sometime?" Needless to say, he definitely owed her one for this.

He looked out into the sea of students. "They seem to be doing well so far. No injuries, yet." Thank god. "So," he turned his attention back to Seren, deciding to give the students a bit more time to coordinate themselves, "How are you today?"

Minerva was ready for the music to start. She felt that her and Harvey were standing correctly now it was time to finally start the dancing.

Gideon turn his head to look at the groundskeeper as he clapped to get their attention once more, the boy listening and watching to what they actually had to do. The fourth year couldn't help but be a little nervous and ackward as the older man demonstrated before finally instructing them to follow suit.

"Shall we..." he mused offering his left hand to his partner to take so he could hold Selina's right hand as shown.

"Why thank you monsieur, you look dashing as always." Seren couldn't help but smile as Chad mentioned getting her a fruit basket or something of the sorts... to make up for dragging her up here for a demonstration? Well then she would have to do so more oten. "Oh don't be silly, it's a pleasure, consider your lessons as payment." After all she did need them. "And I do appologise if I step on your toes. I have poor coordinated."
Not in the least, unless she had her boots on. Which she didn't.

The students were doing well so far, and they all seemed quite keen to take the lesson. Well with the exception of some of the boys by the looks of it.
"Let's just hope they stay injury free." But if they didn't Beth was here, the perfect set up really.

"I've been well, having a lovel day so far! And yourself?" She really was. As nervous as she was feeling, it was going to be fun. Even standing here with Chad was enough to give her the giggles. Then watching all the students hold each others hands awkwardly was just as amusing.

Kourtney giggled as Mr. Stryker demonstrated the beginning stance of the waltz. This was going to be so much fun. "Ready?" She asked Indy with a grin. "And it's okay. I know a little about it. I'll help you out." And really, it was only right considering that Indy had helped her get rid of those Pixies in Herbology. She knew how to stun now.

"Okay....left hand to right hand..." She repeated, grabbing Indy's hand and raising it slightly. "And right hand just over the shoulder blade." She laughed again. How cool was it that she got to dance here at Hogwarts? She then wondered if school dances were held here...kind of like they were held at the Muggle schools. That would be really cool! She could teach her peers how to do the popular line dances and maybe they could teach her to do wizarding dances. She was sure they had different dances than Muggles did.

"Awesome," Presley smiled. "I'm Presley Black. I can dance the guys if you want. I know dancing already, so there's probably nothing we'll learn today that I don't already know." Taking lessons since age three, meant that beginning dance classes, were like taking a long nap. She took the other girl's hand, and placed her own where she knew they were supposed to go. Not on her waist like the boys today danced. No, it was supposed to go on her upper back, by her shoulder blades. Easy.

Selina smiled at Gideon who now had his hand outstretched to take hers. She placed her hand in his and said, "We shall." She awkwardly walked closer to him and waited for him to do what Mr. Stryker had already demonstrated by placing his hands in the correct spot. Her breath hitched for some odd reason, but she did not need to think about why for long because she saw a figure in the background out of the corner of her eyes. She drew her body away from Gideon's and said, "Kurumi?"

She waved to her friend and tried to summon her over, "Come here, you need a partner. I will not have you standing all by yourself, Missy Hollingberry. Let's go, move it over here."

Harlow shook her head, "You are too awesome to be a Bob." she gave him a wink.

She giggled, "Well I'm eleven." she told him proudly. It was a very critical age if you asked her. She had to keep her face straight as Kennedy leaned down till he was as close to eye to eye with her as he could get. "I've got something in my purse that might help." she stepped back away from him and reached into her purse. She dug around till she found her shoe lifts. She had traded for them with a goblin in Diagon Alley and they came in handy. She sat down and fitted them over her shoes and pulled herself up on Kennedy's pant leg. It made her almost 4 foot 8. "Now you don't have to lean down as far." she told him with a smile as she placed her hand on his back and held up her other one for him to take.

Marilyn listened to the Professor...trying not to meet Rafe's eyes. This was a whole lot of awkward...She felt him grabbing her hand and putting himself into position. The blonde had stopping breathing...

This felt like a betrayal to Carter...

He was asking if she was okay...and all that she could do was nod. Perhaps if they just got this over with, she could escape back to her dorm..."Are you okay?" Rafe was stuttering and appeared nervous...Why was he nervous?

Gideon felt as she took his offered hand, the boy watching as she moved closer and he involutarily swallowed. He gingerly lifted both their hands up to Selina's eye level as instructed before hesistantly moving his other hand as if to place it on her shoulder blade. However he stopped as she drew his attention to Kurumi asking her to join us.

Um...nothing like making me more nervous.

The Gryffindor boy did his best to smile and relax himself at what was to come. "Yeah Kurumi...you can join our group if you want," he replied, his hand moving again as he turned to look back at Selina. This time making its way around her back and all that was needed now was Selina to move her own hand to its position at his waist and for their teacher to continue.

Wouldn't be so hard...right?

"Me? Okay? Of course! Wh-why...Why wouldn't I be?" He kind of shrugged, but kept close to her. Rafe did feel a little uncomfortable. It was the first time they really interacted with each other since he told her absolutely everything...and she slapped him. This whole little dance thing and taking the initiative could go one or two ways. One, it would go smoothly and they could really enjoy each other's company, just like old times. Or two, Rafe would screw up with some awful comment or step on her toes, setting Marilyn off and ending up with another slap across the face and her storming off; only to put more distance between them.

Selina felt suddenly very exposed as Gideon's hands rested on her shoulder blade and his other took her hand. Why? She was unsure. Maybe because she was terrified that she would make a fool out of herself, she was no dancer. After all she was only ever really coordinated in the sky. Every other place-- land or sea-- Selina was not the most "graceful" person in the world. So when Gideon held her like that she was reminded that if she screwed up it was on her, he seemed graceful enough.

Luckily, she was drawn away from the situation by the whole Kurumi incident. She was glad that she had the moment to collect herself and try to give herself a confidence boost although it wasn't working. Dance was not something that she was good at or felt comfortable doing, however, with Gideon leading it wasn't so bad.

So when he resumed their previous positions Selina relaxed a tad and reached her arm up slightly to place it on top of his arm that was resting on her shoulder blade like Mr. Stryker had said. She couldn't help but giggle at where Gideon had to place his hand to be eye level with her, "Sorry I'm so short. It isn't exactly helpful in this situation. It must feel so awkward, sorry." Darn height... why did she have to be fun-sized?

Aspen was shy in most things, but this was just another class assignment, right? No need to worry about hand holding (which this definitely wasn't) or proximity since it was necessary. She was dividing her attention between her own hand placement - one in Eino's, the other on top of his arm... And the Professor's example.

Bit awkward, really. Her elbows felt like weapons.

"I think so. It's a bit awkward." Maybe it was just because Eino seemed a bit uncomfortable, OR since he was taller. One of those. "It's okay though," she went on encouragingly and offered him a smile. "And this definitely won't be on OWLs later, so if it's okay if we're no good at dancing."

Maybelle giggled nervously. That was a weird coincidence. "I moved with my Aunt, my Mum died when I was a kid. Been traveling with my Aunt ever since." She said, smiling slightly. "I used to, haven't been to Cali since I moved here." She said, shrugging. "What Wizard School did you go to in L.A.??" She asked, wondering why these two haven't meant before. Now, Maybelle had to hold in a laugh. "Yeah. Shows house pride." She said with a nudge *nudge nudge* hehe.

...Did the Srtyker guy just say to start dancing??

Maybelle looked at Matt. "Well, time to see if this is going to work or not." She said, giggling nervously for the second time. She looked him over. "I think you are supposed to put your left hand out, and your right on my back." She said, waiting for his cue. When he did, she followed with the girl instructions. "Ready or not...here we go." She said.

Nikolas waited until Emma gave an answer and hopefully it will be a yes. Because if not, he would have to find another partner and everyone right now seemed to have one. Nikolas saw that she blush a bit and he smiled back in return. Finally, Emma answered "That's great" he replied. He wasn't going to make a fool of himself.

"At least you know something about dancing! I don't know anything" yeah, he was a professional dancer "But I'll try" and very hard "To not step on your feet" he promised. He would be only looking down while dancing just to make sure he was stepping on the floor and not her feet.

"Oh, so you too think you are going to step on my feet? Okay so we are even" he chuckled. Nikolas looked down at her hand and grabbed it gently. "Alright, let's go" he titled his head towards where everyone else were.

Nikolas listened that Mr. Stryker was given them directions on how to dance. Uhh this kinda confused him, so his left hand together with her right hand and then his right hand on her back and hers on his arm. Okay, okay...Got it. Nikolas turned to Emma and asked "Ready?". He wasn't at all. He was slightly nervous to be true and he didn't wanted to think if he would do it right or wrong, he simply would enjoy the moment. Nikolas grabbed Emma's right hand and then her left hand and set it on his arm. This was right way, right? Good.

He then placed his right hand on her back and said "I guess this is how it is supposed to go, right?" he chuckled. Nerves were still there.

Most certainly, he was. And he didn't care that he was hers. No, he didn't. Question was...was she his? Because last time they got into that, the outcome wasn't too favorable for the Lockhart boy, but he wasn't going to get into that. More than happy, he was, with how things were going at the moment.

His smile widened at her comment, and he fought the urges to kiss her with all he had. THIS was the perfect moment for a kiss, but thanks to Stryker and Bentley, and the others, he had to focus on something else as to not think about it. Treyen also failed to say something because he was rather busy biting his lip, honestly, the music should start and then he'll be able to think about not tripping over someone...because the other Ellie was there, and if she didn't bring Dallin down with her, she was going to bring someone else down, like, another couple, perhaps...or a group of three.

Perhaps Mr. Stryker should've had his lesson on a dance where a partner was not necessary.

Wasn't he the DJ of the Tatertots? He could play that music.

Wait, Stryker was talking? What about? It had been very wise of Treyen to keep those blue eyes away from him while he sat through OWLs, otherwise his results would've been disastrous.

He felt Ellie's hand on his arm and then she said...haha, that was amusing. And lovely. "Oui, Mademoiselle?" mind YOU, he had French relatives, yet he could barely muster to properly pronounce very few words. Fortunately, Mademoiselle was one of those. Wink. But he was fast on his feet, and he was holding Ellie in no time. Holding her for a dance, of course, yet much closer than when they were twelve...because she had been his same age, yes?

"I like this," being close to her, it was even a thousand times better now, because..., "And I'm finally taller than you. By an inch or so, but still." He liked that most of all.

Mackenzi chuckled and brushed a few loose strands behind her ear. "I wouldn't know what skelegrow taste like. My most server injury's been a broken ankle." And that wasn't even from dancing, it was tripping over a rock! But hey, dancers were supposed to graceful while dancing, not walking.

The blonde turned her attention towards Mr. Stryker, and watched closely as he explained the position the dancers would have to stand in while dancing the waltz. She swallowed nervously, and looked at her partner as he moved closer to her. "Uh...okay...um..." She said blinking a few times. She let him take her hand, and let her left arm rest of his right like the groundskeeper had said.

She looked up at Paulie and smiled nervously. Well, here it goes... She thought waiting for the next set of instructions.
