The History of Magic Classroom has changed alot since the first lesson! It has been charmed to look like the deck of an old pirate ship. There are still walls of course but the setting of everything in the room looks like the front of a ship. You can hear the ocean and birds just like if we were sailing away. There is even an occasional burst of wind that livens up the room a little bit. Nothing too crazy, but just enough that you swear you can hear the sails billowing above you. It is very magical and exciting.
There are still desks scattered around the ship's deck. Feel free to sit wherever you would like.
The professor has written a message on the board that is enchanted to scribble out in a messy but readable handwriting and stay for a few minutes and then erase and start again:
Quote:
ARGGG!!!
Ahoy t' Lesson Two: A Pirate's Life fer me!
Captain Gemma Cerulean
The Professor can be found at the door shaking everyone's hands as they enter the door dressed in her Pirate outfit. As you enter she greets you with a firm handshake or a pat on the bag and a hardy, "ARGGGG Matey!"
SPOILER!!: Gemma in Pirate Garb...haha...
OOC: Once again I'm sorry for the delayed start...yesterday our internet went down and I just couldn't force myself to post a new class from my phone...AHHHH!!!....so here we go!....
Please come in and have a seat. You may chat but keep it to a minimum. Remember that when class starts, you need to cut out chatting. Also don't post yourself coming in late, Gemma hates late arrivals and will not give you a warning, she will deduct points from the first time you are late.
I'm going to give you a few hours to get settled so I'll see you a in a little while!!! *huggles you all*
After taking the quiz, Olivia watched as the quiz parchment wiped itself before presenting her with her results:
Olivia scribbled the name on a piece of her own parchment as the result on the parchment faded away back into a blank, empty quiz. That was so awesome magic. She put her name up at the edge of her desk, facing out before glancing over at Luna's.
"No fair," she laughed, though spoke quietly, not wanting to interrupt the others, "You get to be crazy, and I'm apparently the sensible one."
Luna laughed for a minute ''Well you are a Ravenclaw'' said Luna brightly ''And I would'nt necssaily say you aren't crazy at times'' said Luna smiling at Olivia
''And that gives you points for Prefect'' said Luna and then laughing
Gemma smiled at the students. "Ahoy ye' mateys 'n welcome t' History o' Magic Lesson Two! Afore we can get started, everyone needs t' find thar official pirate name. So loot a few minutes t' loot th' quiz on yer desk. When ye be done findin' yer pirate name, write it on a piece o' parchment 'n put it on th' edge o' yer desk fer everyone t' see."

Fallon tried not to giggle as Professor Cerulean introduced the lesson in pirate speak. It was pretty awesome! She was starting to actually enjoy going to this class. Fallon looked down at the quiz on her desk. As she went through it...she couldn't help but chuckle at a few of the questions. Once she was done she quickly wrote it on a piece of parchment and set it in front of her. She even wrote the meaning on the back because it was just too funny.
SPOILER!!: name card
Front: Dirty Mary Rackham
Back: You're the pirate everyone else wants to throw in the ocean -- not to get rid of you, you understand; just to get rid of the smell. You have the good fortune of having a good name, since Rackham (pronounced RACKem, not rack-ham) is one of the coolest sounding surnames for a pirate. Arr!

Carter down at his results and blinked twice.
Red Harry Flint?
At least it wasn't Red Hairy Flint.
He scribbled that name on a parchment and propped it up on the front of his desk.
SPOILER!!: Description
Passion is a big part of your life, which makes sense for a pirate. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!
He blinked again when he read the description. He even read it once with his eyepatch lifted up to make sure he read it right.
You're easily chipped... and sparky? What in Merlin's name did that mean?
He then glanced at Caroline's name: Red Charity Kidd. At least they were both 'Red' together.

Quiz? We're taking a quiz?
The Slytherin lad grimaced and eyed the door, for once regretful to having sat so far from it. He was still considering making a dash for it when the parchment materialized on his table. Rats! No escaping this innit?
Then it was apparently about a pirate name? Eh? Whatever. Scrible scrible. Scrible scrible. And we have....

IronMan? hehehehe.
He glanced at the other parchments, and had to chuckle at some of the ladies with the Dirty nicks. Oi! Wonder if they wanted to know what a dude thinks of them nicks.
And he couldnt help glance over at Jimmy's desk to read...

Amy began to do the quiz, grinning to herself, Sammy was missing out being a pirate, she'd have to gloat about it later. Yep, she would, she continued to complete the quiz grinning. She loved quizes...generally they were stuff like "what character are you?" but this, this worked her a new name. Yes. And that was cool

Daisy looked down at the quiz. A pirate lesson. That was cool. She had never expected this. Maybe the professor wasn't as sane as Daisy thought....
She filled out the quiz slowly, putting her quill into her mouth thinking it was a sugar one. After spitting it out and trying to get bird feather taste out of her mouth, Daisy finished the quiz.
Red Mary Rackham
That was a pretty cool pirate name, to be honest and it even matched her costume, which was red. This is going to be a fun lesson, thought Daisy....

Pushing her parchment towards the front of her desk she smiled. Matt would agree with this.. she looked around but couldn't see head nor tail of him. Hm..
Rolling her eyes, she returned her attention back to the front, hoping they would move on soon..
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Daichi looked at the piece of parchment in front of him. He turned it around and looked through the questions. They were weird yet..cool. Some words he didn't even understand so he just picked an answer randomly by closing his eyes and pressing his quill on the parchment.
When he was done he looked up his name and wrote it down with a slight frown and his tongue sticking out of the corner of his mouth.
SPOILER!!: Pirate name
Red William Bonney

Placing the quill down , Daichi leaned back in his chair and waited for the others to finish their quiz. Or..no..wait, is he Daichi now or William? O_o This is making him confused~!
Gemma walked into the classroom and up to the front/top deck of the classroom. As she walked her thick pirate boots clicked across the floor and her pirate jacket flapped behind her ankles.
When she finally reached the top deck, she turned towards the deck where the students were facing and reached across her waist and drew a long sword. Her wand was hidden inside of the pirate sword. With a swish of her sword, the sounds of the water and the birds became quieter and the board behind her cleared.
With another flick of her wand, parchment flew in like birds and landed on each of the students' desk. The parchment was filled with a quiz.
Gemma smiled at the students. "Ahoy ye' mateys 'n welcome t' History o' Magic Lesson Two! Afore we can get started, everyone needs t' find thar official pirate name. Ariana grinned in response to the Professor's 'Ahoy,' and sat down cheerfully. Seeing the quiz appear on her paper, she took it, checking off each answer as she noticed how odd the questions were. Oddly enough, some of the questions seemed very muggle, like the one about Bill Gates... how on earth were purebloods supposed to know who he is? Oh, well, she kept filling out the quiz.
When she finished and her name appeared, it said she was 'mad'. Was she crazy? Welll.... it had been said... many times.... Ariana grabbed a piece of parchment, wrote her name on it, and made a tent out of it to show off her name, 'Mad Anne Flint'

Chloe took a look at the parchment the professor was referring to and could not help but chckle at some of the questions possible responses. She decided to fill in most of the crudest ones and only be honest some of the time. When she read her results she smiled, she certainly was not suprised with the answers she gave though she did wonder why charity would be in the name.

Uh, woah. Samira had never taken a quiz on her...pirate name. Ok, weird, but she didn't mind. It was kind of different, and Samira liked different. So, without further ado, she took the quiz.

Uh...Samira did not go wherever the wind took her, thank you very much! She went wherever logic took her. And that was usually the logical path. But then again...she was musical, and she certainly did have flair and style. This was very acceptable. Samira felt pleased.

Riley had read the announcement in the Common Room that mentioned Pirates and the idea that they could wear pirate gear so he did that and understood but was not sure why the Professor was talking like that. Did they all talk like that in the old days? Geez.
He took the quiz that was waiting for him on the desk and answered each question carefully and grinned when he saw his Pirate name and the explination underneath, that sounded about right!

Settling into his desk, a parchement and quill on the top so he could take notes, Simon looked back up at the front...fore of the ship as Professor Cerulean spoke begining class. Pirate names?...like he needed on of those he mused to himself with a raised eyebrow, looking down at the parchement that appeared in front of him. Picking up his quill he went to work filling it out not wanting to take the assumed fun out of the lesson.
SPOILER!!: Pirate name

Ariella completed the quiz in a few minutes. She had her name, but was a little offended. Oh well. It was just a pirate name, right? She shrugged it off and wrote her pirate name neatly on her parchment in purple ink.

She pushed it to the edge of her desk and stood it upright, eager to get on with the lesson.
The professor smiled as the students one by one finished up the little quiz. She flicked her sword and all of the papers with their pirate names shot into the air and flew towards the board. As they reached the board, it looked as though they were absorbed into the board and then...one by one...each person's name and pirate name was listed across the board in an old fashioned type handwritting.

Gemma turned to watch and once everyone's name was done being written out on the board, she turned back to the class and with a smile said, "Arg! Ye be some strong pirate names!" she said with a little wink as she held up her sword and pointed it out at the classroom.
She put her sword down on the handrail in front of her and smiled suddenly talking like herself again, "Hello everyone! And welcome again to Lesson Two of History of Magic! This week we will be covering a subject that is rooted in both Magic and Muggle history. This is something that just recently has sparked the interest of many wizards here at Hogwarts and in the Wizarding Community with the arrival of our mystery ship in the lake..." she said motioning with her hand out the window that faced the mystery ship.
She paused and then glanced across the faces of the students, "Ay! I be talkin' about Pirates!" she said with a smile and her best pirate accent.
"Pirates are something that can be found in both Muggle and Wizarding history. And in both accounts are often linked to some kind of magic. In the wizarding world, most of the magic that the pirates used is easily explained. In the Muggle world, the magic was a mystery in their stories." she said with a smile.
"I had you take the pirate name quiz just as something fun...don't worry I won't call any of you by those names." the professor said with a little nod up and down. "But before we get too far into pirates, can anyone name any famous or even fictional pirates from either the wizarding or muggle world and stories?" she said looking out into the crowd.

Ariella tried to remember a pirate name. Yes, she remembered her muggle friend telling her about some pirate from a movie......hmm.....
Her hand shot up into the air. "Captain Jack Sparrow," she said. "A muggle pirate. He's a fictional character from some pirate movie. I think it's called....Pirates of the Mediterranean? Or no, maybe it's Pirates of the Caribbean?" She thought about this for a minute. "Yes, it's Pirates of the Caribbean."
Oh, finally. The normal, mature part of the class. Thinking the question for a moment, Evan raised his hand to give a real, and rather scary example. "There were the pirates of Somalia," he said, frowning as he tried to remember the details. "They would hijack the ships passing through Aden... and they would demand astronomical amount of money from their countries."

Jamie happily took the name quiz aaand.... "Dread Pirate Rackham!"
Oh YES. Did he want to get any cooler?! Owhh, he wanted the teacher to call him by his pirate name. It was way better than Jamie Keaton...
Errmm... famous pirates, famous pirates. Alls he could think of was ones from movies. Raising his hand, Jamie said,"Captain Hook." From that muggle movie, Peter Pan. There were plenty more, he was sure, but Hook and maybe Sparrow were all that came to mind. MERLIN, History of Magic was absolutely awesome.

Famous pirates? Ryden perked up at the mention of it. THIS was ok. This she could handle. Easily. There were TONNES. Plus, hello?! Treasure Island. One of Ryden's personal favourites.
Hmm. "Well, there was Captain Flint, professor, from Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson..." she said, raising her hand. Of course, Long John Silver was another one but Captain Flint, even though he never appeared, was still the one to mention. Yep yep.

Catching a glance of Evan not to far from herself, Mina glanced at his pirate name and smiled. "Thanks" she mouthed back. The whole dirty part wasn't sitting well with her still, but the whole Rackham part wasn't all that bad. Plus it looked like her own boyfriend was on too. Added bonus in her mind and maybe it was a bit of a sign, well if she believed in those kind of things. The thought of having the same surname as Evan did make her smile, but she pushed the thoughts to the back of her mind for the moment. She needed to focus on the lesson first, but that didn't mean she would keep the thoughts in her mind for later.
Noticing all the names appearing on the board, she turned her full attention back to their pirate professor.

...Well, Evelyn wasn't all that interested in pirates. She was more interested in WHY people were interested in the subject. This seriously wasn't the first time people saw a ship right?
However, even if she didn't dress up as a pirate or study their lingo, she did look up information about them. After all, she at least wanted to know what in Merlin's beard they would be discussing today. Though why this was tied into muggle history when they should be learning about the wizarding history was beyond her. "There was a pirate named Captain Howell Davis." she said after raising her hand. "Noted for his intelligent and cunning ways to get what he wanted instead of using weapons like the other captains." And apparently noted for his looks as well.
