There is nothing in Muggle Studies Classroom which would make it look different from any other classroom. There is not even anything special on the teacher's desk which might indicate what today's lesson was going to be about. Nothing. Just Professor Zookara sitting at his desk, turning a piece of chalk in his hands absently, waiting for the first students to arrive.
Not even the professor's facial expression gives away any hints to help you figure out today's topic. It is neither particularly excited, nor openly annoyed. It is just rather...indifferent. Indifferent, yet friendly and welcoming.
OOC: Class has now officially started, so please no late arrivals, no chatting and make sure you're familiar with the Classroom Rules. If you haven't posted your character arriving, you can just pretend like they have been there all along. ^__^

Did someone just SNORT at her? The Slytherin stared at the younger students who was trying as hard as she could, NOT to giggle at her comment. But she DIDN'T know what it was! Ellie quickly recovered from her laugh but then noticed the Head Girl staring her down. Pff, huh. Who snorted?! How ruuuude.... She muttered. liiiaaaaar. teheh.
Spike had been tapping lightly (the 'tune' of William Tell, if anyone was listening carefully) on his desk, wondering when something exciting might happen. Like fun Muggle stuff. Apparently it wasn't like the start anytime soon, though he was interested by 'cooties'. Which apparently boys had.
But...since he hadn't ever heard of them, he figured he didn't have any yet. Shame. They sounded cute, and like he should. He already had a tarantula, frogs and beetles afterall. Maybe it was like a boy-ish version of a pygmy puff?
"'s Spike," he said, raising his hand. "Can you keep these cooties as pets?"
It was pretty clear to the blonde that Freddie was feeling uncomfortable here in a lesson in which they were discussing what he always thought he had been. She glanced sideways again, biting her lip. She didn't like him feeling that way, he was one of them now and there wasn't exactly a lot he could do about it. And she was resisting the urge to say something to him. Trix sighed as she turned back to the front, waiting for Jeremy's answer to his question.
But it wasn't long until she heard laughing beside her. WHAT? Her question was perfectly normal wasn't it? He asked whether there were any questions, and well Trix DID have one, that one. She faked a glare at the snort before looking totally innocently at Freddie. "Well you weren't going to explain it to me, I decided it would be the best time to ask" she whispered back, focusing her attention on everyone else so it didn't look like she was chatting. "Why you still planning on taking me?" she flickered her eyes to him with a smirk.
Freddie was talking more than she expected, but that was kinda expected, it was probably the perfect lesson for him. But his question, and comment, was kinda unexpected. Evolution? So was he saying that Muggles were better than they were. Her attention was drawn to the fact he was glancing at her. She looked back, a kinda confused frown on her face. What WAS that supposed to mean? "So Muggles are better now are they?" she mumbled under her breath, loud enough for people to hear however. If he was saying they didn't NEED the magical ability, it would appear that way.
Freddie was so aware of Trixie looking at him and if he knew her at all, she had her lip between her teeth and was looking worried. He deliberately didn't look at her, mainly for his own benefit than hers. How did you reassure someone that you didn't need reassurance? He was actually finding the lesson interesting so far.
It wasn't like the straight faced Freddie to laugh, but Trixie's question had been so unexpected.. and had become almost something of an inside joke to Freds. He did glance at her this time to find her glaring at him. He shrugged, smirking a little. “Zookara seems more articulate than me. He'll be able to explain it a lot better than I can.” He replied, leaning towards her to whisper. His eyes glinted and he nodded once in response to her question. “If you'll let me.”
Hearing the accusation from beside him over his comments to the professor, he frowned at the Head Girl. He had NOT said that. “No.” He said simply, his jaw clenching as it became apparent she wanted everyone around them to hear. “All I'm saying is magic is no longer a necessity to our survival. We've found other means to the same result. We evolved to live on land: we lost our gills.. we've lost our tails because they became pointless to our needs.” He shrugged. “Why keep something that is no longer surplus to requirements.” Yeah.. it was controversial and it was JUST theory, but it was possible.. right? Freddie really didn't believe he was better than anyone here – surely Trixie of all people knew that.

Oh boy did Jamie have questions, she just didn't want to ask them. She sat there silently and listened to those who did ask questions and found they were some what similar to her own so she wouldn't have to if they kept it up. She mindlessly doodled on a peace of parchment and sighed. Muggle Studies was what seemed like a basic classes but could possibly get confusing fast.

Cassie looked up as the questions started flooding in. She really had none of her own since she was always moving back and forth between the muggle and wizarding world. All these questions seemed a bit obvious to her but not everyone lived like she did so she supposed it was understandable.
She sighed and looked back to the parchment in front of her. She really was just not interested in meeting anyone's gaze or even looking at them, so since sitting in the muggle studies class her eyes were glued to her sparkly scented pink parchment paper doodling shoes and fashion outfits, unless the professor was really ready to get into the meet of things.

Jeremy didn't get up from his seat, however, did smile at each of the students who arrived at the classroom. Many familiar faces. "Now, for those of you who don't know me, my name is Jeremy Zookara and I have been teaching Muggle Studies since last term. Also, please say your name first if you're answering a question so I can get to know you." Then letting his eyes flicker towards some of the more familiar faces he added, "Of course, this only counts for those of you who HAVEN'T been in my class last year. I should be able to remember your names...and if I don't, I'll try to pretend I do."Heh.

K-Lee had come to Muggle Studies purely out of curiosity. With teachers in the other classes bringing up muggles in every session, she was confused. So whats better than going to Muggle Studies and maybe learning why. Listening to the teacher talk, K-Lee thought for a moment.
No questions came to mind so K-Lee sat back to listen to the other students ask questions.
Rowan sat quietly listening. Having lived with muggles since she was five she couldn't think of a good question to ask. She was more interested to hear everyone else's questions. In her experience, there were as many magical folk who misjudged muggles as there were muggles who thought magical folk were freaks.

Nimrodel nodded...What did she want to know about Muggles? Hmm oo that was hard...Her dad talked about them constantly..Actually she was forced to take this class. Though she would never tell her dad..But she really wanted to take the class..

She raised her hand, even though this comment was directed towards the boy, just as much as the professor. with a slight tinge of bitterness, she turned to the boy and asked."If that were so, what would it mean for squibs, especially those that come from a pureblood lineage?"

Selina sat at her desk doodling on her parchment awaiting class to begin. She became so indepth with one of her drawings that she had not even heard the teacher address the class. Only when a chorus of questions sang about the room did she look up to see that class had begun. What had she missed?
Eventually she had caught on that he had opened the floor to debate on the Muggle Statue issue. It had been a common theme in all of her classes. And Gervik was there... something was wrong. Something always was with him.
She shook the thought and raised her hand, "Selina Skylar, first year Gryffindor, sir. Perhaps you could answer me this? Why are all of the teachers so intent on educating and even exploring this Statue? I have no opinion on it personally, but it strikes me as odd that it has been a very hot topic." She was no fool. They were hiding something.

So of course my parents and my other sisters know about magic and the wizarding world, even though they're muggles."
Right. "But I was kind of wondering; what keeps them from not talking about it? Do you think it's just some moral thing, that they don't want to seem weird for saying it exists? Or are they somehow included in our secrecy thing? Or do they have their own? Ya know what I mean?" Probably not, since Dal was rambling, and he hardly ever made sense when he rambled.
Alice waited for this day for long time. She couldn't wait to take Muggle Studies! As Alice listened to her classmates share their thoughts to the class it had made her think about those questions. Why do Muggles not want to believe in magic? That was probably the most common question any wizard or witch wanted to know. What did she want to learn about Muggles that she didn't know before?

Cass raised her hand up high. She was sure she didn't need to introduce herself, she was here last term!
"Why?" She asked "Why is there a special focus on muggles this term Professor?" IT WAS ALL BECAUSE OF THE4 NEW SECURITY OFFICER. SHE JUST KNEW IT!
Claire looked up from her blank parchment, and stiffled a yawn. Muggle.... studies... *groan* she was getting bored of the whole muggle focus of each lesson, and she knew she wouldnt be able to avoid it in.... muggle studies, but now everytime she heard the word muggle, she couldnt help but cringe.
She hoped the lesson would get interesting and soon, before she fell asleep.

Emily snapped out of her stupor. Were people still talking about cooties?... what on earth had the world come to. "Cooties, don't exist", she said irritably... "Now can we please move onto something worthwhile discussing?" she asked.
Personally she didn't care what anyone thought of her little outburst, and she could tell she wasn't the only one that had had enough of 'cooties'. Quite frankly the class was shaping up to be a disappointment. She hoped the Porfessor would interveine shortly.

Violet was sitting next to Selina in the class that she had been freaking out about since the train: Muggle Studies. Now it wasn't that she didn't like the subject, NO, it was more along the lines that she didn't understand it at all. And on top of that she was even more afraid that she would be failing in this class. She never thought that there was going to be a class that she wouldn't like. But what also confused Violet was how Elektra and so many other muggles could just so easily go about their lives without using magic, it was just mind boggling. When the professor allowed the students to ask questions and she heard Selina ask her question, Violet immediately knew what she was going along the lines of. One word and one person who was always being questioned: Gervik. Violet looked from Selina to the Professor waiting to hear his answer to her question.

Had the statute a lack or something like that?!Maybe there were books about it at the library?! There had to be one thing how muggles figured out, otherwise there wouldnt be so many muggleborns here.

Jake looked over at them and held back the childish responses he wanted to say (like 'YOU are a cootie' and 'YOU don't exist'). But managed not to. "Some people live sheltered lives. I would prefer to hear about this disease thing."

He looked at Zookara, shielded his mouth and mouthed the word, 'Cooties?'

Ella didn't feel the need to raise her hand and say her name to the professor. She guessed that he would remember her from her epic battle with Savannah last year, that he broke up. She raised an eyebrow at him. There was an emphasis on muggles this term? Huh... she hadn't even noticed it, to be honest.
For a moment or two, she listened to all of the other students ask their questions. She heard the word 'cooties' being thrown around here and there, but she really had no idea what that was. Maybe that was something that they needed to learn about, then. Cooties and it's uses. Actually, every single question that she heard sounded a bit interesting. She did somewhat like muggle studies, due to it's interesting nature.
Ehh, she didn't have a particular question, but she had more of a query. "I was only wandering why muggle-borns are allowed to join this lesson." And she really didn't mean any offence by that, "it's just, they have an advantage over everybody else because they already know about muggles." Fee smiled when she noticed someone talked to her about what she had said."Hey Dallin",she said,"i am Feenella."Listening to it intensly she thought about an answer in her head.Hopefully she made it sound like she didnt think of muggles as important.Ohhh the boy was a muggle?!Made sense he spoke up now.
"So no one in your family is a wizard or a wich?",she asked,"no grand grand graaaand ma or someone like that?"Mhhh, this was a really goo d question.Fee had always wondered how some muggles figured out that there was something more. Had the statute a lack or something like that?!Maybe there were books about it at the library?! There had to be one thing how muggles figured out, otherwise there wouldnt be so many muggleborns here.
"I am not sure about that",the blonde stated,"first how do they know about the wizarding world?"Tipping her finger on her chin the second year thought about a possible answer."Wouldnt it be boring if everyone here was a pure blood? And besides muggles and magical people arent that different."And then it hit her, probably the most stupid thing she had ever thought but to hrr it made kinda sense."The wizarding world and the muggle word excists nect to eachother forever right?",the blonde tried to get her thoughts into words,"what if at the very beginning of both worlds some wizards and muggles had made a pact?At least that would explain why only a few muggle families now about our world."
Now to the why thex didnt talk about it. Mhhhhh.." I am sure i am just rambeling but if there really was this pact its surely inculded not talking about the magical world to other muggles."One it would totally confuse them and two no one would believe it."But the most important question to me is : Why is it that muggle shouldnt know about the wizarding world? We all could live in a friendly co excistens and make eachtohers lifes easier."
What did his family have to do with anything? Dallin frowned, thinking about the question. "Well, I'm not really sure. But I assume that somewhere down the line, I have a grandparent that 's a witch or wizard." He had never really cared enough to really find out. If he was a wizard, then what did it matter where he got it from? It reminded him of the conversation he had with that girl, about magic maybe being a recessive gene. Hm.
His eyebrows scrunched together as he listened to her. "There's a lot of ways that muggles could find out about the wizarding world. For example, my family didn't find out until my sisters got their acceptance letter for school. But let's say a muggle marries a wizard; the wizard might tell the muggle that he's a wizard." he shrugged. It was possible. He bit his lip as she talked about a pact, and shrugged. Yeah, it was possible.
At her question, Dallin nodded vigorously, agreeing. "Exactly. Why can't we live together? There's so much we could help them with, if they knew we existed. I guess we could even help them if they didn't know we existed." Huh. Anyway, he was off topic.

For a moment or two, she listened to all of the other students ask their questions. She heard the word 'cooties' being thrown around here and there, but she really had no idea what that was. Maybe that was something that they needed to learn about, then. Cooties and it's uses. Actually, every single question that she heard sounded a bit interesting. She did somewhat like muggle studies, due to it's interesting nature.
Ehh, she didn't have a particular question, but she had more of a query. "I was only wandering why muggle-borns are allowed to join this lesson." And she really didn't mean any offence by that, "it's just, they have an advantage over everybody else because they already know about muggles." "Having muggleborns in Muggle Studies is no different than say, having a pureblood in Care of Magical Creatures." Right? At least the way he looked at it. "Muggleborns might know about muggle things, but a pureblood wizard could have a magical creature as a pet." Aaaand he'd shut up now.

Ella had a feeling that her question would spark up a bit of a debate. One boy, who must be a muggle-born, started to compare Muggle Studies to Care of Magical Creatures????
"That's completely different. Not everyone is interested in magical creatures. I don't have a magical pet." She clarified. Nope, her kittie was a muggle pet. "But, muggle-borns have to know about muggles because they basically ARE muggles." Not literally, but up until they find out they are magical, they would have been just regular muggles, right? And everything about muggles is just common knowledge, really. It's not like they had to learn anything because it came natural to them... Just like purebloods in the wizarding world.
"Besides, even if someone had a magical creature as a pet, it doesn't make them a mastermind in the subject." Like, seriously. Because there were thousands of different species out there to learn about. Realising that she was probably being a bit of a fiery debater, Ella said, "I'm not being rude, or anything. I just don't see the point in muggle-borns being here." Pssshht, Ella knew what she was talking about.
"If there was a 'Wizarding Studies' lesson, I wouldn't bother taking it." She quietly added. Yeaaaaahh, take that!
