Ella rolled her eyes rather obviously at the people who got up and left and the people who were complaining about the crup. It wasn't in pain so what was the problem? Besides, there was probably another crup in the universe having it done right this instant. It was the law! Her thoughts were interrupted...

Oooooooooh, a three-legged race??!

Ella knew it. This lesson would turn out to be good in the end. But she really didn't know anyone around her, so it was time to be social. Gaah, that was always a problem for Ella.

Timidly, she tapped someone on the shoulder who looked partner-less. "Hey, I'm Ella. Wanna be partners?" She smiled at someone who was considerably smaller than herself, and wearing a cat costume. A three-legged cat and pig. Hehhhhe.

Woops. Was that cheek or stupidy from her? Anyway, she'd probably pay for her comment now...

What? It was only a disillusionment spell?
Thank goodness! She hadn't just witnessed a puppy de-tailing! It was much cuter when it was whole.

Emily put an arm around Nikas shoulders. "Don't worry. Look, it's just a charm. The puppys still whole!" she tried to smile, but it was still a cruel thing to do to a class, espically to them first years.
"You ok now?" Emily said giving her a one armed hug. "Want to be my partner for the three-legged... thing?" she actually managed a smile this time "A dragon and rabbit. Not strange at all!"

Iris looked at the bunny rabbit girl who hopped up to her and smiled. *gigglesnort* A bunny and a butterfly? ... HOW is this three legged walk going to work out?! Bunny's HOP. Butterflies FLY. This can only end terribly. "Sure thing. I'm Iris, by the way."

Deciding that it would be best to NOT waste time talking, Iris skipped to get some rope. She didn't want to get on Saylen's bad side by slacking. She remembered what she did to Jimbo last year, at the Goblet.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Ama." She decided it was best not to mention her horrible clumsiness to the girl that had agreed to be her partner. Pulling a carrot out of her pocket, she started munching on it, they had always called her bunny for a reason which is how she had decided on the costume.

As she stood eating her carrot and waiting for Iris to come back with rope, she watched the other groups pairing up and giggled at the odd combinations.

Arya was VERY satisfied when the professor picked up the crup and showed him some love and gave him a treat. Even more satisfied when the disillusionment charm was removed from the crup's tail, a smile breaking across her face. She KNEW she wouldn't do something so cruel to a cruppie, doubted her a bit she did. But now that she could see the tail again, her faith in the woman was restored. Arya made note to tell Treyen about it later.

And now they were going to have a three legged race! She loved those, they were the best!! All she needed was a partner now. Standing up on her bench, she looked around at the other students. "Anyone wanna partner up with me?"

Nika tried to stop crying. It's okay Nika. Only a charm. Nothing happened. Nika was still upset that the Professor would play such a cruel trick on them. "Yeah I'm fine. Yes, I would love to be your partner," Nika said the words with all of the strength that she could muster.

Jacob could barely breath in the costume, and now she expecred him to do some race... three legged thing... Nuh uh!....... No Way!....... Ok fine, he'll do it, but he was going to run. If he ran, Jacob would pass out.... and he was not going to the hospital wing trying to explain why he was wearing a Gorilla suit. Miss nurse thought he was crazy as it is, and this would just add to her reasons to put him in the nut house.

Oh person next to him was talking... he put up his gorilla hand, signaling that he was doing something, and with his other hand gripped the mask, and pulled it off... Jinkies! Its Jacob.... And I woud have gotten away with it to if it weren't for you medeling kids. sweat dripped from his hair and face, and Jacob was breathing heavily. "Its... Hot... in... that... thing" he said, stopping to breath between words. Jacob finally was able to controll his breathing.

Partners? "Sure, why not." he said... unless she didn't want to partner with sweaty people... which he could understand completely, Jacob wouldn't want to. "Jacob" he said simply. He didn't like long introductions, it was too formal. jacob blunt, ravenclaw captain just sounded weird.

Holy MERLIN! She actually cut the dog's tail off!

She...had no idea how she felt about that. Not the whole cutting the tail off in general thing but, actually witnessing it, that was a whole different story. She, cut, it's, tail, OFF!

Not even being able to talk, and definitely not horrified enough to leave the lesson, the Slytherin sat there for a moment, just staring at the dog. Huh. It was...looking pretty normal. Except the whole, tail between legs, looking like a lost pup, terrified of everything around him thing going on, but normal none the less.

Really. Professor Saylen, just did that.

Blink.

Looking back to the Professor at the mention of some three legged race, Evelyn raised a brow before glancing around. Eh. She had to...someone had to be in her space for that. That was not cool.

Pfft.

Vashti was relieved the crup hadn't actually lost a part of its tail. That was something she really didn't want to witness.

So now they had to find partners for a three-legged race? Well this would be interesting and, hopefully, fun, though she was never good at three-legged races.

Vashti walked over to a girl who was dressed as a dolphin and was asking for a partner. "I'll be your partner if you like," she answered with a small smile.

And another loud gasp escaped from Kurumi. Still, their was no yelp of pain, no blood, nothing that would suggest that the baby Crup was suffering. That put Kurumi's mind and heart at ease and she ended up smiling at the little guy as he began turning around in circles. "Professor, I have read that dogs may chase their tails because there is physical discomfort of some type. While I understand that the Severing Charm will not harm the Crup, I think that it is probably confused and seems a completely new sensation due to the lack of a tail."

Kurumi's attention was no focused on the little guy that she still failed to notice that Walnut had gotten even close to the cage and was now sniffing as much as the cat could.

Then Kurumi saw the the Crup's position change. "I think he is ashamed and embarrassed now, Professor," she said sadly. "It has probably realized it's tail is gone and that his wobble was because of that. Without being able to balance properly...he is embarassed."

Kurumi found herself clapping this time as Professor Saylen returned the Crup's forked tail. She was sure the baby was much happier being the way that he was supposed to be - nature made, not wizard made. It wasn't just wizards that did these sorts of thing, non-magical people did it too. Changing animals so that they wouldn't affect the human environment. Weren't animals here first? Shouldn't they, the humans, be the ones to change?

Kurumi's eyes widened at the mention of a three-legged race. She had participated in one each year at her non-magical school's Sports Day. Actually, it had been more of a four-legged race since there were three people running, but the concept was the same.

"Anyone need a part.....ner....."

Looking around the area for a partner, she now took notice of Walnut who was standing up on his hind legs sniffing the Crup's cage. Oh, that wasn't a good idea...

Standing up Kurumi slowly began making her way towards Walnut hoping that he wouldn't do something stupid - like try to jump in with the Crup.

"Professor, would it be alright if I carried Walnut during the race? I'm afraid he is going to cause more stress on this cruppy..."

"Oh, hey," Sierra greeted, turning around to face someone dressed in a pig costume. "Don't I know you from Slytherin Quidditch try-outs?" It was sort of hard to tell a person's appearance and house with them dressed in a costume. "Sure, let's be partners. Nothing like a cat-pig combo." She gave the girl a playful smile and then turned toward the rope that had magically appeared in the middle of the circle. "So I guess we need to get ourselves all tied up, hmm?"

Motioning for Ella to follow along, Sierra headed for the piles of rope. "I'm Sierra, by the way," she said, remembering that Ella had given her name. "So how exactly do we do this?" She picked up some rope, studied it for a moment, and then passed it over to Ella.

Emily smiled "It's ok!"
She wished she had a hankerchief on her. Instead, she went and got the rope. "Which is your best leg?" What a wierd question!
"Mine's probably my right, but whatever..."
It didn't matter, as long as they worked together.

Iris quickly returned with a length of rope, and burst out into giggles when she found Ama munching on a carrot. "Very fitting." SNORT.

Now... Tying their legs together. Iris looked to Ama. "Um. How're we going to do this? You on the right, me on the left?" the only reason Iris suggested this, was because she was left handed. And she didn't want to end up restricting the use of her left hand, in case wands were needed later on.

"Savannah." She muttered very very softly too.

Savannah blushed again. "Sorry Professor." She said in a small voice. "Never again." And she gave the girl called Rowan a sad look and zipped her lips.

Team up? With who? She looked around hoping to be saved by someone she know. But unfortunatly, there's no one she really know.

How about the girl in the cute dolphin costume? Savannah walked over without a doubt, she was more troubled by the fact she doesn't have a partner than who was her partner. "Want to be my partner?" She asked hopefully. She doesn't want to miss this.

"Yeah, I guess you are right." Nika said sniffling. Nika's mood became slightly more cheerful as she thought about the question. "Well I am left-handed so I guess I would be left-footed, too. So I guess my left foot?" Wow this worked out perfectly.

"What? I like carrots.." She pulled another out of her pocket. "You want one?"

"Sounds good, I'm right handed anyway and we may need to use our -" She reached to grab her wand and discovered that she had left it in her room again. This was really turning into a bad habit. "I forgot it again," She mumbled. Ugh. Why did she have to be so forgetful?

Blinking a couple of times, Mia quickly stopped talking when the gorilla person raised their hand and she waited patiently for the person to do whatever it is they were doing.

She didn't have to wait long. All of a sudden the mask was removed and Mia got to see the person who had been hiding in the suit. "I bet." She said laughing as she took in his red and sweaty face.

Mia stood up and there was a grin on her face. "Oh I know who are." She may have a terrible memory when it came to names and faces but she always made it a point to know the Prefects and Captains.

"I'll just go and get the rope. You look like you have already done a ten mile run." She giggled softly and went over to the pile of ropes and picked up one and then returned to Jacob. Mia bent down and tied his right leg and her left leg together. "We're ready to go Professor."

She gave Jacob a sideways glance and grinned again. She probably should have told him that she was slightly unccordinated when it came to things like this.

Ella's eyes squinted when she mentioned the Quidditch tryouts. As soon as she thought of Quidditch, she felt kind of annoyed. Ella failed at it so why did she try out every year? She's an idiot, fersure. Stupid thoughts aside, she studied her face once again and as far as Ella remembered, it was a two-way battle between her and the girl to get the points. Ooooh, competitiveness. "Yeah, I think I remember seeing you there." And she also remembered how she beat her. Heheh, cat-pig combo. Ella smiled too and looked at the rope but made no attempt to move.

"Nice to meet you, Sierra." She replied when the girl introduced herself. Right, now for the three-legged task. "Urrrm." Ella took the rope from Sierra when she handed it to her, and wrapped it round her left leg, then bent down to tie it round Sierra's right. This was crazily awkward seeing as they had never met before. The way they were just invading each others personal space and stuff. Sheesh.

She tied it in a knot, stood up too quickly, and toppled straight over. Ow.

Looking over to Em and giveing her the thumbs up in his outfit was a bit hard " YO EM your on my tem we can use your wings "grabbing his head and moving over to her

Kita looked at the girl, dressed up as a peacock, who had accepted her offer. "Thanks," she said, smiling at the girl, "I'm Kita, by the way." The peacock girl seemed to be close to her age. And not too tall or short either, which was good.

Partners...well Kurumi was out even as the only housemate without a partner since they had the same creature as their costume. Simon looked around for other options and spotted Evelyn seemingly without a partner herself. He thought it over but wasn't sure she'd be willing to be that close to him, the time at the dance lesson hadn't been quite as close. So he continued looking around as the rest of the class started pairing off.

"Ha, ok..." then a thought struck her "So do I tie my right and your left leg together to form a super strong leg, so do we need our two strongest on the outside for speed?"
Wow, she was putting way to much thought into this...

Okay, so this girl was a fellow Slytherin--and the same girl that had been on the Quidditch pitch earlier. She'd been good and had actually given Sierra some hard competition. That had, though, really been the only practice Sierra had succeeded at. Evelyn and her mad Quidditch skills had pretty much slaughtered everyone else during the other try-out sessions.

Sierra remained quiet while Ella began wrapping the rope tightly around their legs. So tightly, in fact, that Sierra's eyes grew wide and her leg turned red. "Ouch. Let's maybe loosen this up a---..."

The rest of the sentence came out more like, "...lit--AHHH!" Since the two girls were tied together, Sierra fell when Ella fell, leaving the first year sprawled out in the center of the class area. Her poor cat tail had been detached and smashed underneath them, and her mask was turned sideways.

...Merlin! Nobody saw that, did they!?

"No thanks... but thanks anyway." Iris said, with a chuckle.

Iris rolled her eyes. How does someone forget their wand?! It's the single most important tool to a wizard. "Well... you might want to break out of that habit. But, we should be okay with just me having a wand." The prefect offered the younger student a friendly smile. "Right, lets get this rope on."

Then, she crouched down and positioned her right leg against Ama's left leg. She then wrapped the rope around the legs a couple of times, before securely tying it into a double knot. Yes, she did it the Muggle way. But only because she'd forgotten the incantation for the spell that ties rope. Iris had tied the rope so it was secure enough around their legs, but not so tight that it would cut off the circulation in their legs as soon as the prefect stood up.

Iris pulled herself up, and looked down at Ama. "That's not to tight is it, whilst I'm stood up?"

"No, it's just fine." She looked at the difference in leg length. "My legs are shorter than yours though, so don't drag me."

She looked at her wand holster sitting there empty and frowned. She didn't mean to keep forgetting it, she just wasn't used to having it and forgot stuff sometimes.
