Abby looks through the box for a holster that will fit her left arm since she's right handed. After trying about four on, she finds one that fits. Abby straps it on and puts her wand in. She then tries drawing her wand. Abby finds it difficult having to move her sleeves before she can get to her wand. Abby raises her hand. "Professor Lawson, Abby Wright. I was noticing that you have to move your sleeve to gain access to your wand with this arm holster. Do they make an enchanted model that slides the wand in your hand when you need it? Also, can you perform a disillusionment charm on the holster when you aren't wearing long sleeves?"

Patrick went back to the box, putting back the hip holster and taking a wrist model. He was a bit perplexed by it, wondering which end went toward his hand. He walked back to his corner of the room finally strapping on the holster and putting his wand inside. Lowering his sleeve, he hoped his wand wouldn't get entangled in it.

He watched the others as they flicked their hands to summon the hidden wand. He tried flicking his own a few times but the wand either didn't budge or fell to the floor with a clatter. Red-cheeked with embarrassment, he'd bend over to retrieve his wand and re-snap it into place. Man, he thought as he eyed the rest of the class, this is not easy at all.

But Patrick was sensible guy, and he knew that practice would be key in learning how to use this contraption. The thigh holster seemed a better choice at this point, but he'd persevere and continue to practice with the wrist thingy. He continued flicking his wrist until he timed it right and stopped dropping his wand. "Aha! Got it!" he said triumphantly. It wasn't so bad once you got the hang of it.

He hadn't tried the back holster yet and was sure it wouldn't suit his tastes. But he had to give it a try: Going back to the box, he took one and got it strapped on. Imagining an opponent before him, he mentally thought, DRAW! His hand went back and he couldn't reach the darn wand. Figures!, he thought wryly. After trying it a dozen times, he gave up on the idea and put it back into the box. He kept the wrist holster and continued to practice with it.

"Some wand shops sell holsters but usually you can find them where they sell dragon hide and manticore gloves and clothing as such. The holsters I have provided you with today are merely made of leather but I would suggest later on that you splash out and get either dragon hide or manticore. They last so much longer and offer more protection." He nodded at Satine and gave her a smile.

Lawson moved over to the young Slytherin and smiled at her. "It's alright, it takes a little getting used. I would suggest that you merely practice reaching across your body and grabbing the hilt of your wand without trying to draw it. Try and get a feel for where your wand actually is. It will take time and can be frustrating going over and over but once it becomes second nature to know exactly where your wand is sitting, the drawing part will be easy."

Marcus stopped to watch the Head Girl, for a moment before he stepped forward. "Anna, when wearing a thigh holster it need to be on the same side as your wand hand. Notice how you have to reach around to grab your wand. If you were wearing a hip holster than yes you go for the cross draw because it sits higher but because the wand sits lower when it's in a thigh holster, you should have it on the same side. Do you understand what I am talking about?"

Now why did that not surprise him, he had the feeling Jacob Upstead would just about disagree with anything. "No Jake, you don't have to wear one if you don't want to. Some people are comfortable with it and others aren't." Marcus shrugged, but every auror he knew wore one. "And you would probably be better with a wrist holster anyway Jake."


"Yes you can cast a disillusionment or concealment charm onto both your wand and holsters which I highly recommend, if your clothing doesn't cover them." Marcus stepped over to Abby, "When wearing a wrist holster it is probably best to wear loose sleeves so that you don't have to pull back the sleeve. But with much practice over time usually you can draw without being impeded by clothing, your hand knows exactly where your wand is."

Jack knew one of the things that would be on his Christmas wish list. Now the question was dragon or manticore.

'Professor, what is the incantation for the concealment charm?' Jack asked, in a hurry to try it out.

"Ahh, okay," Jake nodded, dropping the hip thing back into the box. "Cool beans," he added, stepping away and watching the others. "Can't wear a wrist one, ain't it," he explained, raising his hands and doing that stemming thing he did, shaking his hands. As he watched the others closely, Jake held out his left hand in front of him, pointing his index finger straight up and moving it around in circles, thus twirling the wand that was there.

Honestly, everytime Jake saw these things on offer for sale, he couldn't help but think about the state he'd get in with having to wear it or if he kept forgetting... or he caught his clothes on his wand or...

Breeeathe iiiiiiin... aaaaand ouuuttttt...

That wrist holster just looked... confusing.

Divad raised his hand. "Professor, could we do another demonstration with volunteers?"

"Yeah. Practice makes perfect." Raiden was clearly doing a bunch of thinking. Celandine absently noted, not meaning anything at all by it when she said, "Your thinking face is cute, Rai-Rai." Cue innocent grin.

"Yes it's a bit inconvienient but that's more about hiding your wand than drawing it, and like anything with practice you get it." She watched him curiously.

"We should talk about the things you read after class." Cela suggested, "Want to go on a picnic in the student garden? We can say hi to the Puffas and Fluttas."

Celandine just nodded. "Mostly Kayla is great, but most people didn't know her like I do. Scary."

Cela waited for the lesson to continue, idly flicking her wrist and catching her wand and wondering why some people weren't paying attention.

"Well we might have to leave that for another day. I don't want to step on another Professor's toes. Professor Ashby may want to teach you that himself but I'll have a word with him and if not we can go over it another time." Marcus nodded at the boy.

Marcus sighed at Jake and reached and adjusted the wrist holster so that it fit against him perfectly. "It may feel weird at first but after a while you won't even realise it is there. It is really effective Jake, look at how fast Celandine drew her wand from using it."

"A Hufflepuff that is scary? Now that I would like to see." Marcus chuckled before moving to the front of the class.



"Okay I think everyone has had enough time to practice with their holsters. Now it's time for the next part of the lesson and I would like to call up another four volunteers please. Preferably one from each house and someone who hasn't already been up the front."



ooc: We are going to have a little fun with this next part. So I please ask that if you are going to volunteer that you are prepared to hang around for a bit. Of course if you are called away unexpectedly, I understand.

Lyra raised her hand up "i would like to volunteer sir" she said.

Daniel raised his rand and said, "Professor, can I volunteer?" He said without a bit of hesitation on his voice. After all, he wanted to boost Gryffindor to the top.

Dani raised her hand. "Ooh I'd like to volunteer." She wondered what she was volunteering herself for.

'I'll volunteer!' Jack raised his hand and yelled, perhaps a bit too loudly...

Jake shook his wrist viciously, trying to get rid of the nasty feeling of being held on to. "Ack," he yelled, flailing away. "I hate it."

Even so, he raised his hand to volunteer, maybe he could get rid of this stupid thing.

"Okay excellent come up to the front you four and stand just over there and space yourselves out little to give yourselves some room." Marcus turned and looked at Caroline and beckoned her over with his hand.

"Healer Avalon has been good enough to help us out today with this next piece of fun." He waited for the volunteers and Caroline to make their way to the front.

Raising her hand, Anna said, "Professor, several people have already volunteered, but if you're still in need of someone else, I'm available." Anna slid her wand back into her thigh holster, then walked a bit closer to the professor, waiting to see what exactly would happen next. This had been an interesting class, so far. No sooner had she spoken up, though, the Professor had already called forward a few volunteers. She watched and waited for the students as well as Healer Avalon, to come forward.

Dani jumped out of her seat and bounced to the front, excited to be able to participate. It seemed like in her other classes the older students got to do everything. Standing where the Professor had told her to go, she smiled at the healer and waited for further instruction. She liked fun.

Spacing himself out far from the others, Jake began to surruptitiously pull on the strap of the holster. Juuuuuust a leeeettle looser, no?

Whyyyyyyy her? Her who had seen that Lawson could deal with Jake... and now she was here too. Jeez, annoying. Now they needed Professor Morgan and maybe Professor Svensson and they could have a REUNION!

When did the nurse lady get there anyway?

Tug, tug, tug on the holster.

Darn. Allie had wanted to volunteer. Oh well. Maybe next time. So instead she sat in her seat, and waited for the class to go on. It seemed like it was going to be interesting.

Lyra walked up to the front where the professor had told them to stand, she made sure she had enough space and waited , curiously about what was going to happen.

Oh that's me!

Caroline quit leaning against the wall near, straightened her shoulders and walked, high heals clicking (ominously to her) to where Marcus stood. It suddenly seemed... foolish of her to agree to this.

A whole bunch of students in combat mode?

Simone continued to practice pulling her wand out of the thigh holster that she picked out. She was actually getting pretty quick at it. She smiled at Cela. She was doing very well with the wrist holster, but was still acting oddly.


Notcing people were getting up to volunteer for whatever, she stopped practicing and watched.

Christine was really excited about this lesson. she was learning so much. Since the professor had all the volunteers he needed, Christine just stepped to the side, twirling her wands in her hand, waiting to see what came next.

Miranda had decided to stick with her chest holster, it was awesome. She felt it was indeed a holster that suited her. Though maybe that thigh one was good aswell... Hmmm...
She raised her hand "Professor, could we maybe keep two holsters? It's so difficult to choose one..." she finished, blushing as she realised how eager she must have sounded...for free stuff.

Anywho, after the professor began to explain, her attention was once again at the front of the class as more volunteers were selected.
This was a great class!

Daniel walked towards the front of the room. He was liking this part of the class. He was also nervous on what would they do now. But he rest in the fact that the Professor was not Kazimeriz anymore so, there would be no foul surprises this time.

He stood and spaced himself from the other volunteers. He then wrapped his arms over his chest so as to have a close watch on his wand that is on his wrist holster.

Plymouth had crawled all the way up to his Common Room, up the stairs and down the corridors. No Jelly Legs would stop him! He'd retrieved his wand and crawled all the way back. Needless to say, his arms were exhausted by the time he made it back. He a few bruises from rolling down a few of the last steps. All for the Ravenclaw!!

He kept his wand in his mouth, clenched between his teeth. No way to lose it there - and it kept him from getting distracted by talking to the portraits on the way. So, sweaty and wand in mouth, Plymouth returned to class.


Plymouth crawled in the class, sprawled out in the middle of an aisle, and grinned at the professor. "Hofs 'is for a holfer???" he asked, wanting to know what Professor Lawson thought of his mouth-holster. Bet no one else stored their wand there!
