The year started off with a bang! From our least favorite polter family when Storm dropped glitter bombs on all feast attendees. Papa Peeves, Mama Miffy, and Storm were all sunshine and roses, right? WRONG. Papa Peeves seemed PEEVED at at his suedo!son’s takeover of the feast prank, and the craziness did cease there, oh no. An argument ensued between the couple a few days after the feast, and there seemed to be trouble in paradise! Peeves stormed off, and began flinging dungbombs at students near the suits of armor. This won Miffy right back. Ooohhh, the hearts in her eyes for her darling Peevesipoo!
In more sinister news, Flynn, the very old caretaker that many around the castle had always forgotten about, went missing. Well, no one noticed at the time (again, people forgot he existed) but the castle was getting dirty. The house elves just couldn’t keep up! The owlery was covered in owl POOP!
Turns out, a portal opened up on the sixth floor corridor. A human-sucking-in portal into another dimension! Talk about dramatic! Students flocked into the portal to explore because how often does a portal into another dimension just open up at school? Low and behold, the fate of Flynn lay inside. Bones, a shirt, and an abandoned mop were all that was left of the poor man. Sounds...lurking sounds, scary sounds echoed throughout the corridor in the portal. What a creepy place.
The holidays rolled around, and Storm rained bugs down on unsuspecting students in the entrance hall one day. Natalia Franks-Mundie, headgirl, was the victim. Peeves appeared, and the two got into an argument….come to find out, Peeves had had a BIGGER and BADDER prank planned, and Storm had ruined all his fun. Unamused, Natalia left the scene with the two blowing raspberries at each other. Sheesh, how childish. What else do we expect from Peeves and his “offspring,” though?
The portal eventually sucked two students right off the bridge on the grounds (Junia Botros and Etta Kramer). A whole day passed that the two were missing, but when they emerged from portal, they claimed to only have been in there for a few hours. This might seem strange, but it only gets stranger. A few days later, a Rooney Bronwyn, Carlton Lewis, and Henry Whittebrook are all sucked in from separate places in the castle. They are missing for FIVE WHOLE DAYS. The castle is thrown into full-blown panic--how to get them out? Would they ever make it back? When they got back, they were positively traumatized, and they spoke of a monster in the alternate Hogwarts. It had almost got them; it drooled, it lashed out its feeler or whatever it was to try to snatch them up for dinner! But those three were strong and brave. They made it out. The Board of Governors held a meeting, and the Department of Mysteries turned up right as the boys fell out the portal.
It was chaos.
Headmistress Hawthorne implemented a strict curfew to adhere to in order to maaaaybe limit the chances students had of getting sucked in. Those three had been missing for DAYS.
Students and professors alike tried to look for answers in the school library; meanwhile, the portal had been exercising its abilities, including stretching and...LETTING THE MONSTER OUT INTO THE CASTLE. The monster escaped from its alternate universe, and immediately went for Tenacius Salander who had probably been on patrol when this happened. Looking for a meal, the monster creeped around the castle until Daisy Carden and and Hattie Paton tried to catch it to no avail.
The monster eventually snatched Abey Botros and Simon Rockefeller. It dragged them back into the portal, ready to have his human!meal, when Headmistress Hawthorne requested students head up to the sixth floor to help get them back before it was too late. Even though the last thing on everyone’s minds were the polter!family, they still managed to irritate everyone even in this ordeal. Calling for students to come out and play, Peeves getting mad about the monster stealing his glory - really, Peeves? Storm and Miffy overhear a very important conversation, and because Miffy thinks everyone in the castle dying would be profoundly BORING (having no one to terrify and trick would be awful, wouldn’t it?) she convinces Storm and they should go through the portal and save the day! Miffy and Storm jump in, and the portal makes obnoxious noises before...going poof. No more alternate Hogwarts! Of course, the boys had been saved and everyone gotten out BEFORE that happened. Everyone was saved! Huzzah!
