Hey! This is my *counts* third fic here on SS, and I hope you all enjoy it!

This...This is My Wish...

I hurried down the corridor as the group of boys laughed at me. My face was red and flushed, and tears stung at my eyes. I looked behind me and realized one of the boys wasn’t laughing, but looking at me apologetically.

Alex Hendricks.

I had had a crush on Alex since first year, and no matter how many times he taunted me, I couldn’t help but fall even more in love with him.

Who am I? I’m AnnaLeah Brant. Fifth year Slytherin….

And about 4’ 11”.

I have a brother, Matthew, who has his friends, the Charday twins, Lucas and Jacob, and then Alex. Me? I have my friends Miranda, Willow, and Ami, and Ami’s boyfriend Kyo. Even though Ami and Miranda don’t go here anymore, and have families of their own now, they’re still two of my closest friends ever.

I jumped and turned around quickly when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I looked up at Alex’s towering figure. “Woah….You’re way taller than I thought you should be…” I said, my icy eyes wide. He chuckled and shoved a book into my arms.

“This was hidden in my trunk. It’s your Charms textbook. I’m still looking for Astronomy and Transfiguration, but I’ve found the rest, but they’re in the dorm,” he said, half-smiling.

Matthew wanted to be a jerk and hide all my textbooks a few weeks ago, and Alex had been trying to get them back for me. I was more grateful than he realized.

“What class are you in next?” I asked politely, and he smiled and tapped the textbook in my hand. I gave him a confused look.

“Charms, stupid,” he joked. I rolled my eyes and scoffed, pretending to trip him.

We messed around until we got to the classroom, and he offered to sit next to me, which I accepted…until Jacob Charday dragged him away.

Sorry it's so short, guys. I hope the next will be longer!

Here's chapter two, guys!

Chapter 2: Wishes
Again, I don't not own Harry Potter nor do I own Alex Hendricks. They belong to J.K Rowling and CrazySammi respectively.

The next day, I walked down to the Great Hall for a quick breakfast, and I was glad to see I had gotten down before the bullies. If I had come down later, I wouldn’t have been able to lift my eyes from the ground.

I sat down and started shoveling food onto my plate. I looked up and smiled as Willow sat next to me, her black eyes dull from tiredness. “Up late again studying?” I asked, concerned.

Willow nodded. “And your brother kept coming downstairs to bug me. It wasn’t fun,” she replied, dark hair falling over her eyes.

“Hey, senorita! What’s shaking?” Eleana, Miranda’s youngest sister, asked as she plopped down next to me.

“Was that supposed to be funny?”

“Yes.”

“Well, it wasn’t,” I said, digging into my food.

“Gosh, Brant, you’re already short! You wanna be fat, too?!” I heard behind me. I swallowed and turned to see Alex laughing.

“Go away, Hendricks. No one like you with your tallness!” I said back, sticking my tongue out.

“Oooooh, flirting! Willow, darling, let’s leave these two lovebirds to it!” Eleana joked, nudging me. I rolled my eyes.

“Daft,” I muttered. Alex nodded in agreement.

I turned back to my cold breakfast and started scarfing it down when I heard the shrill laughs of the ‘Queen Bees’ as I called them.

After nearly choking on my food and pumpkin juice, I waved to the three of them and dashed back towards the Slytherin common room, and ending up falling back, staring up at Jacob Charday…..and Matthew.

“Well, well, well…If it isn’t little Miss Shorty,” Matthew sneered as I got up. I glared.

“Shut up, Matthew,” I snarled.

“What if I don’t want to?” he asked cruelly, and I tried to shove my way past, and ended up falling over again. The two boys laughed and walked away towards the Great Hall as I sluggishly went to the common room, retrieved my bag and smiled when I saw the pile of books in the canvas bag. So Alex HAD found the rest. Now I did feel better!

Maybe this year wouldn’t be so bad after all, if my two wishes were granted…

One is that I grew at least 5’ 5”…

Two is for Alex to at least notice as more than just AnnaLeah, Matthew's little sister, which was probably how he labeled me.

This…this was my wish…

Chapter 3: Torture
I don't not own Harry Potter nor do I own Alex Hendricks. They belong to J.K Rowling and CrazySammi respectively.

As the day went on, my day started looking up. Until I stepped into Potions and saw who was sitting with me, Eleana, and Willow.

Matthew. I wanted a hole in the ground to open up and swallow me. I fought back tears as I sat down between Willow and Eleana, who gave me concerned looks.

"Why, good day, Esperanza," he greeted me.

"Don't call me that, Matthew," I snarled back in response. I studied my book and made the potion as directed. And what did my brother do? He swiped some of mine as a sample and gave it to the professor.

And then I ran smack into Jacob Charday. That was not a pretty encounter.

Walking up to the Hospital Wing with a bloody nose from tripping and falling face-first was lonely. Until I felt a hand catch my arm. I looked up at Alex. He raised an eyebrow at the hand over my nose.

"Jacob," I said nasally, and he scrunched his face up.

"Ouch. WHat happened?" he asked.

"Don't wanna talk. Nose hurts, bad mood," I said, shrugging past him, and painfully sneezed as my hair tickled my nose. "Owwww..." I groaned, and suddenly my hair was off my shoulders and in a tight ponytail.

"I'll be in the common room if you wanna talk later when your nose gets fixed," he offered, and I smiled behind my hand.

Although I knew my nose was broken and my day had been kind of...meh...it at least ended nicely, if I do say so myself.

Here's chapter four, guys!

Chapter 4: Late Night
I don't not own Harry Potter nor do I own Alex Hendricks. They belong to J.K Rowling and CrazySammi respectively.

I sniffled for about the fifteenth time as I walked back down to the common room. Having my nose repaired made it feel weird.

I stepped into the common room, and looked around and then checked my watch, shocked at how late it really was.

"BOO!" Alex whispered loudly, grabbing my shoulders, then covering my mouth when I nearly screamed.

"Hendricks, that was not funny!" I said, pouting. He chuckled.

"Sorry," he said, with that trademark half-smile that made my aching heart skip a beat.

"Hey...Alex..." I started.

"Yeah?" he looked up from where he was sprawled across the sofa.

"If you loved someone...would you admit it to their face?" I asked.

"It depends. If she's totally clueless and doesn't know I exist, I'd start an argument and let it slip," he replied. I thought about it. Looks like I needed a topic to fight with him about. "Wait...why? You like someone?"

"More like love, actually. He knows I exist...and talks to me...but I don't know how to tell him," I said quietly. I was startled when he wrapped his arms around me and enveloped me in a warm, strong hug.

"Just give it time, AnnaLeah. Things will fall into place eventually," he said, giving me a final squeeze before letting me go and tugging a loose curl, watching it bounce before flicking it from my face, laughing at the shade of red my face turned.

"Thanks, Alex," I said quietly. He smiled and patted my cheeks playfully.

I stood up. "Well, Alex, I-I'll talk to you tomorrow. G-good night," I stammered, stumbling upstairs and pulling the curtains around the four-poster, so I could collapse on the bed and cry my eyes out in piece.

I could have told him the truth.

I was in love with him.

But no. I was too chicken. What was wrong with me?! I couldn't say three simple words?

I needed to sleep on it.

Here's chapter five, guys!

Chapter 5: THE Prank
I don't not own Harry Potter nor do I own Alex Hendricks. They belong to J.K Rowling and CrazySammi respectively.

I couldn't remember the next day very well. It all went by so fast. But I could definitely remember...THE prank.

I was walking down the corridor, to the Great Hall, when, at the top of the stairs, I tripped over a string, I guess.

And I went down hard.

The next thing I remembered was waking up in the hospital wing two hours later with Willow and Eleana hovering over me. "What happened?" I asked softly.

"The guys...they pranked you. They set up a string across the top step. You fell pretty hard, too," Willow explained. I immediately sat up, then clutched my pounding head.

"The guys? As in, who?"

"Matthew, Jacob...and...Alex," Eleana said softly. "At least, that's what we think. He was laughing his head off with them..."

I burst into tears. I couldn't help it. After all that time, he had been tricking me just for this prank?

"Anna..." I heard Alex say, and I looked up at him, standing behind Eleana. His eyes were wide, and it was obvious he had heard.

Willow and Eleana walked away, and Alex sat on the edge of the bed. "Listen, AnnaLeah...I was only laughing so it didn't happen to me. They forced me into it. You know those two. I mean, I would never wanna do something like that. Paint in a bucket falling on your head, maybe. Throwing food in your face to start a food fight in the Great Hall, definitely. But tripping you down a marble staircase? Never," he said, then stood up, looking down. "And I heard you crying last night. Is there something you wanna tell me?"

I nodded. But I was too afraid to say it. My anger was rising rapidly.

"Anna...?"

"You sick, twisted human being. You prank somebody just for your own wellbeing? You...you'd prank someone that...that...You'd do this to a friend? YOU'D DO THIS TO SOMEONE THAT LOVES YOU?!" I shouted, falling back onto the pillows, sobbing. Hendricks froze in his tracks and turned around.

"That's why..."

"Yes! I asked that last night because I wanted to know what you would do!" I said. "Go. Leave me alone. Just...just go!"

He stood there. He slowly pulled out his wand and conjured a red tulip and placed it on the pillow next to my head.

I threw it back, and as I threw it, it transformed into a white rosebud. His eyes grew sad and he slunk off, shoulders slumped, head down.

I fell asleep crying...again.

I know, it was sad.

Here's chapter six, guys!

Chapter 6: Why Me?
I don't not own Harry Potter nor do I own Alex Hendricks. They belong to J.K Rowling and CrazySammi respectively.

When I was discharged from the Hospital Wing, I trudged back to the dungeons to get sleep. I had asked for a Dreamless Sleep potion, and was determined to have an Alex-free slumber. His face kept popping up every time I closed my eyes.

And what was up with the flower, anyway? I knew flowers had meaning, but still...maybe I should research it later. Like when I graduated and didn't have to deal with Alex Hendricks anymore. I was sick and tired of him and his attitude towards me. I was nothing but his best mate's baby sister.

As I walked down, I ran into the one person I never wanted to talk to ever again. I glared up at Alex. "What is it, Hendricks?" I spat. He flinched and sighed.

"I...I wanted to ask why you were so cold with me," he whispered. I couldn't believe him.

"I was cold with you because you are on my brother's side. THAT'S WHY!" I shouted, then shoved past him. He grabbed my arm and turned me around.

SMACK

Alex's eyes were wide as he watched me walk away, his hand fingering the hand-shaped mark on his cheek.

"ANNALEAH!" he called after me, and caught me by the wrist and pulled me to him. "I'm sorry. I know that makes no difference to what happened, but I'm sorry," he whispered.

"Prove it."

"Fine. I will." And with that, he tipped my head back, leant down, and kissed me.

That was the BEST fifteen seconds in my LIFE.

And the worst. For two reasons: Matthew and a certain witch that, if I hadn't been so in love with Hendricks, I would have said they would end up married after Hogwarts.

"ALEX?! What the hell! That's my sister!" Matthew shouted at Alex, and we jumped apart, my blue eyes wide. I gulped as Matthew approached me. I took a step back and tried to weave around him as he grabbed my arm.

"I'm not letting you get away with this," he growled.

Why me?

Here's chapter seven, guys!

Chapter 7: Mindless Daydreaming and Late-Night Talks

Author's Note: This chapter is split into two parts, so

The next few weeks were, well, odd. Alex and I kept bumping into each other at odd times, and the only thing on my mind seemed to be that kiss. It was just the mindless daydreaming of a teenage girl.

But exactly a week after Alex had kissed me, I found myself daycreaming in Charms, staring out the window. I had finished the test that had been passed out, and already turned it in. So there I was, staring out the window at the grounds and the lake.

"Miss Brant! Class is dismissed," the professor said to me in my ear. I looked up at her. She smiled and waited for me to gather my stuff. "I can understand, though...I heard about what happened with you and Mister Hendricks last week."

I gulped a little. She had heard? From whom?

"I hope things go well for you, AnnaLeah. And if you ever need anything, my office is always open for you and any of your friends."

I bolted up, clutching my chest, breathing deeply. My fifth year Charms professors words still rung in my ears. I shakily crawled out of bed and turned on the light. I looked at myself in the mirror.

My natural hair, long, shiny dark chocolate curls, was now messy, dull, and hung in limp curls around my face. My usually sparkling eyes were sunken and dark, navy-like colour compared to my usual ice blue.

I still hadn't changed out of my work uniform, a simple white blouse and black slacks. I stared at myself, and looked down, glaring at the ugly bruise on my right arm. A single tear rolled down my cheek and I let out a sob, sliding to the floor, wrapping my arms around my knees as I brought them up to my chest.

"Why, Alex?!" I cried aloud to empty silence, tipping my head against the bed. I could hear my nieces run up the stairs quickly, to see what was wrong, no doubt.

"A-a-aunt Anna?" the youngest, Cassandriana, said, stepping in. The girl was only nine, but she picked up on every little thing.

"Yes, sweetie?" I asked, looking up.

"Why do you always--"

"ANNALEAH! STOP YOUR CRYING AND LET MY DAUGHTER SLEEP!" Matthew shouted from the stairs. I sighed and nodded at Cass to leave.

Matthew walked in as Cass walked out, and jerked me up, causing me to yelp in pain as he gripped my wrists tightly.. "Stop your complaining. Alex isn't some pet you can order around. And I wouldn't know why he'd love you. Now shut up and go back to sleep."

I nodded silently, tears running down my face. I didn't even notice the slap against my cheek as Matt tried to get me to stop crying. I only jerked my wrists painfully out of Matthew's hands and turned on my heel, climbing back into my bed, waving my hand for Matt to leave.

I sighed as he left, and fell into a fitful sleep, more flashbacks from my Hogwarts days coming back to me.

Most of the chapters from now on will be like this. Anything in orange is a dream/flashback.

I love the story so far!
What an evil jerk of a brother she's got. YOu really have me wondering what happened to her and Alex now. And how in the world could someone fall in love with Matthew and have children with him?!?
