I own nothing you recognise. All direct quotes are acknowledged below the drabble.
Just a few things I feel I need to explain:
Firstly as I'm English, I use english spelling variations e.g. pyjamas not pajamas. To try and use the american english variations does funny things to my brain, sorry.
I tried not to be gloomy and dour, but I'm better at that stuff, sorry! I'm actually quite a lighthearted person really, honest!
I was thinking of writing a Tonks/Remus fic, but Cassirin's is so good that I'd be bonkers to try. http://www.snitchseeker.com/characte...ack-sa9-31388/

The potions classroom was full of white steam.
“Mr Pettigrew if you do not chop your scurvy-grass into equal pieces, your Befuddlement Draught will be completely ineffective.”

Sirius hissed, “Not to mention the fact that it’s already the wrong colour, Wormy, get a grip!”
Peter looked at me imploringly. “Help me! Please!”
“Moony can’t help you in the O.W.L. Wormy, you have to learn how to do it yourself”
“But James, if I…”
“No Moony, he has to do it himself. Like Padfoot said, you need to get a grip” The last comment was shot at Peter.

I looked at the piece of parchment in front of me.
‘Parseltongue be the language in which the Darkest of wizards speakes to snakes…’
As the words slid out of focus, I rubbed my eyes, feeling a thousand years old, not twenty seven. Researching ancient documents about Parcelmouths may not be thrilling, I told myself, but it does mean that you can eat.
I looked around at the piles of parchment and books that covered most of the floor of my father’s study. My study, I reminded myself sharply, they have both been dead for ten years.
Everyone was gone.

A Strange Stranger.
72. Vex
A tall thin woman walked into the kitchen. Sirius sprang from his seat and embraced her, lifting her off her feet. She looked oddly familiar, and made me think of Minerva Mcgonagall. Sirius was now talking so quickly that I could barely catch a word.
“Don’t you recognise her Remus?”
The woman slapped him playfully on the arm.
“How? I was seven the last time he saw me!”
Seven? This woman was older than me.
My vexation must have shown on my face. She laughed.
“Hang on.”
She screwed up her face, and suddenly I saw bright pink hair.
“Nymphadora?”

“Right then Lupin, you’re up!”
Teddy gripped his wand tightly. He stepped forward.
CRACK
There was Remus Lupin, serenely drinking a cup of tea.
“Oh, you’re the boy are you? Yes well, you certainly don’t look much of a wizard”
“R-R-Riddikulus”
“I see, you can’t get rid of a simple boggart. I can’t say I’m surprised. Mediocre to the last”.
“R-Rid-dikulus”
“Oh how deeply disappointing. I can’t believe that the son of an Auror and a Defence Against The Dark Arts professor finds it this difficult to despatch a boggart.”
Teddy couldn’t think of a way to make this funny.

Working on a viciously difficult essay for Professor Slughorn, I sat in the library, my table covered in books.
“Hello Moony” Peter dropped in to the chair opposite me.
I gave him a small smile and went back to my essay. Peter took out his essay and started to work.
“How do you spell hellebore?”
“H-E-L-L-E-B-O-R-E”
Peter scratched out his mistake.
“Has Belladonna got two l’s?”
“Yes”
More scratching.
“Do you spell Bezoar with a z or an s?”
I hissed “A z”
Yet more scratching.
“Has scurvy got one…”

75. Yodel
Remus was screaming. Sat in the parlour of Lupin cottage, Lilly could hear his cries of agony rising through the floorboards.
“Not exactly a yodel, is it?”
She looked into John Lupin’s sad face with tears shining in her eyes.
“Never heard it before have you?”
Lilly shook her head.
“I offended Greyback. It’s my fault. He wanted to take Remus from us. Arrived on the doorstep the next morning, as though he was here to claim a lost puppy.”
John Lupin’s bitterness was as hard to hear as his son’s screams.
Suddenly, a long howl ripped through the cottage.
(I have a theory about wizards giving their first born son the father’s name as a middle name e.g. Harry James Potter, Bill Arthur Weasley, etc. Hence Remus John Lupin)

Lupin Cottage.
23. Telescope
The cottage at the end of the lane was known as Lupin Cottage. The garden, where lupins of all colours used to grow was rather wild now. Mr and Mrs Lupin had died some years before, and their son now lived there alone. He could be seen at times with his telescope, gazing at the stars and filling in charts. Mysterious and solitary, he was the subject of speculation.
“He had visitors last week, and they didn’t come in a car or on a bus, so how did they get here? It’s all a bit weird.”
“Oh leave the poor man alone!”

I pulled Dora to me, rubbing her bump.
“Look what Kingsley sent.” A huge box from Honeydukes sat on the coffee table.
“And the wrapping paper fell off?”
“Well, I thought that you might be craving something. There’s ice-mice, chocolate frogs, liquorice wands, fizzing whizzbees…”
“Are you sure this is about me? Could it possibly be about your sweet tooth?”
I grinned. “Possibly, but you can still have first choice.”
“How generous of you sweetheart” She picked out a pair of small, squeaking, ice-mice and passed me some chocolate.
This is where I belong, I thought, with my beautiful wife.

Snowball Fight.
95. Snowball
Wham! The snowball hit me in the ear. I looked around and saw Sirius laughing and pointing at the little girl.
“She got you Moony!”
“Right!” I gave chase around the Tonks garden, throwing snowballs as I went. Sirius joined in but she was surprisingly nimble and avoided both of us. I spotted her hiding behind the snowman, her pink hair giving her away. I motioned to Sirius and we crept towards her, snowballs in hand.
She darted away and as Sirius grabbed her around the waist, she caught me by the arm. We all fell into the snow laughing.

2. Muggle Studies
Walking through the corridors, I was completely distracted by two fourth year boys fighting. Going over to break it up, I failed to noticed the Muggle Studies teacher, backing out of her classroom with a vacuum cleaner under her arm. We collided and I landed on top of her.
“I’m so sorry…”
“No, no, my fault…”
“I’m Charity Burbage. You’re Remus aren’t you?”
“Yes, that’s me.
“Well Remus, are you going to get up, or will we be staying here all day?”
I helped her up.

I was very confused. Esther Seygal never spoke to me. She almost never looked at me.
She stared at her shoes.

Suddenly, from no where it seemed, she had flung herself on me and was peppering my face in kisses.
“Umm, what was that for?”
“Because I wanted to.”
“Right… well… thanks…”
Later when I was telling James about it, he laughed. “Honestly Moony, anyone would think that you were allergic to girls!”

69. Slap
I slammed the front door of Grimmauld Place behind me, shaking with anger. I apparated to Lupin Cottage, craving solitude. Harry’s words had been like a slap in the face. I looked into the hall mirror, looking for evidence of cowardly behaviour. My face was red, my nostrils were flared, my lips were pressed into a thin line. I found what I was looking for in my eyes. They were wide, glazed and deadened, the way they had been before Dora had given me her heart.
Harry was, of course, right. James would’ve expected me to look after my family.

Sitting under the a beach tree, I tried not to listen to James and Sirius planning another Marauders adventure. Professor Kettleburn, the Care of
Magical Creatures teacher, stomped past in his ungainly fashion, towards Hagrid’s hut. James nudged Sirius,
“I’ve had a stroke of inspiration.”
“What, Kettleburn? He’s inspiration?”
“If we can get hold of a niffler or a couple of salamanders, we could…”
“… levitate them through…”
“No”
“Moony, what do you mean?”
“I mean no James. If you want to levitate an animal, levitate each other. At least that way if the animal gets injured, you’ll deserve it.”

Ensuring he was bound with ropes and an anti-disapparation jinx, I removed the bodybind holding Dolohov.
“Release me you filthy werewolf! How dare you imprison someone of pureblood?”
“How dare I? For the safety of everyone in this room. Besides, if being pureblood means being like you, I prefer to be a lycan.”
“Remus! How are you?”
“I’m OK Williamson, but I need to make sure that Dor-um-Tonks is alright.”
Descending back into the Death Chamber, I saw that she was slumped at the bottom of the dias. My heart in my mouth, I jumped down to help her.

I presented her with a gift. She unwrapped it and looked puzzled.
“It’s beautiful Remus, but… what is it?”
“It’s called a fountain pen, it belonged to my grandmother. The ink goes inside, and you write with it just like a quill. They’re not that strange, Muggles have had them for about nine centuries.”
“Thanks Remus! It’s really lovely. It’s so beautiful” She hugged me and I returned the embrace, feeling the colour in my cheeks rise.
“Why have you given it to me though?”
“Umm, well I was getting fed up of having ink spilled all over my newspaper”

“Go change, birthday boy” I realised that Tonks was talking to me.
“What?”
“I’ve got a surprise for you. It’s your birthday, isn’t it?”
Was it? I looked at Sirius, who had a complicit grin on his face. He nodded. It had been a long time since anyone had remembered my birthday, including me. She must have been quizzing Sirius about me. That felt… odd. A surprise, what an on earth could it be? Tonks was constantly surprising me anyway, so if she had made an effort to be surprising…
“Get changed Remus, muggle clothes are the dress code tonight. No plaid.”

The nightclub was loud. “Who are they?” The angular singer strutted his stuff.
‘The moon has gone down on the sun...
You wouldn't leave me on my own.’
“They’re called Pulp!”
Tonks pressed a drink into my hand. “Muggle whisky, from Ireland. Try it!”
I grinned. She had forgotten I had lived before meeting her. The song changed, the crowd surged, knocking Tonks off-balance. I caught her.
‘…Why did you touch my hand and softly say,
Stop asking questions that don't matter anyway.
Just give us a kiss to celebrate here today something changed…’

61. Kiss
“Thank you for seeing me home Remus”. Her hair was a shocking shade of pink.
“You’re very welcome, I wanted to know that you’re safe.”
She clicked her tongue. I knew what she was thinking. I suddenly realised that even though we were inside the house, I was still holding her hand. I raised her hand to my lips and kissed it.
“Thanks for my surprise. I haven’t had that much fun in a long time.”
She stepped close to me, far too close. The impulse crashed over me, and before I could stop myself my lips were brushing hers.

I looked into her eyes, afraid of what I might find.
“Well, Remus, I did wonder how long it would be before you would act on your feelings. I didn’t want to push you to do something that you didn’t want to do.”
“How could I not want to kiss you?”
She blushed.
“You’re very beautiful Dora. I have wanted this for a very long time.”
“You have?”
“Ever since you walked into the kitchen looking like Minerva”
She frowned. “Does that mean you want to kiss Professor Mcgonagoll?”
“Not exactly.”
To prove my point I pulled her into another kiss.
