In the corner of the Slytherin Common Room stands a tall cork bulletin board. Any parchment that touched the cork is magically affixed on it by the self sticking charm it posesses. Here is where you may post class announcements, homework or anything else you think the great house of Salazar Slytherin would do well knowing. And remember...
We're Slytherin, told it's a sin
A House no-one worthwhile's in.
What dung, what rot, what utter tripe
A rather silly stereotype.
Slytherin's for those with brains--
Yet not ashamed to work for gain
Slytherin's for those quite brave
But not to the point of an early grave.
One learns quick and well in Slytherin
How to thrive and how to win.
We're clever, ambitious and maybe mean--
But hey, we get to dress in green.
Cross us and get curse-whacked
A snake never gets side-tracked
We're Slytherin, it's all the rage
Don't stick us in your 'good kid' cage.
You'll think of us as model tykes
But prone to lies, and quick to bite
Let everyone else mutter and glare
We're Slytherins, so we don't care.
Now let's be frank; Slytherin rules
We're the rebel house, the house of cool
Trust only those who are already in,
Too bad all houses aren't Slytherin.

⌦ option one (worth 10 pts)
Using the bags of colored sand you took from class, create and destroy three planets in three different ways. You may use the Astrophysics Laboratory for this assignment, but are not required to and may use whatever means and locations you wish about the castle. Try to make your methods somewhat mimic what could "possibly" happen to an actual planet in space. Whether this is a complete act of science fiction (ie laser beam induced explosion) or astronomic fact (Sun expanding and roasting the planet) is entirely up to you.
A brief write up explaining your methods may be submitted for extra credit.
OOC: This is an RP-centric assignment. You should have at least 3 posts in 3 different locations for this assignment. In your post, you should RP creating the planet using the appropriate spells and then destroy it by whatever means necessary. Please keep in mind that none of your destroying should place your character in the hospital wing <3
Please PM me with the links to your posts. You may, as mentioned in the IC instructions, submit a SHORT blurb along with each RP link explaining how your "demonstration" could play out in "real life."
⌦ option two (worth 10 pts)
During class one of your classmates, Mr. Scabior, said that one of the reasons we study astronomy is because to seem less conceited as a human race. Do you agree or disagree with this? Why or why not? Write a 4 inch essay discussing your views. You may also include your personal reason for studying astronomy.
OOC: 4 inches = 4 paragraphs
⌦ option 3 (worth 10 points)
Inspired by Mr. Toros uniform...modifications, you may stop by my office and take your NASA name tag from the box in my seating area to decorate however you see fit. Just be sure to return it before next class.
OOC: for all you graphic makers out there! You can either use the name tag image provided to manip over or may choose to hand draw what your character's name tag will look like.
You to NOT need to RP stopping by Professor Flamsteed's office to pick up and drop off the name tag unless you really want to.
⌦ this assignment is due October 4th @ noon GMT
Please be sure you have read through Astronomy & Space Navigation and paid particular attention to the rules regarding homework submission. Late homework submissions will not be accepted. Any questions, concerns, or what have you can be sent to me via PM.

Due: October 12, at 23.59 GMT/18.59 EST Worth: 10 points (with +5 possible for outstanding effort)
Potions Year-long Activity! Want to earn a chance to work with Professor Culloden privately and learn some cool potions? Want to be recommended to the most distinguished potions community? This is your chance!
All you have to do is brewing a Un-Felix Un-Felicis potion that you can also use against your enemies! It is the exact opposite of Felix Felicis - causes a complete lack of luck. If you are interested, do not waste any more time but head to the Potions Lab right away, and begin brewing! The deadline is March 15. For the recipe, please look below. For any questions, visit or send an owl to me.
Text Cut: Recipe
a litre of goat milk
1 strand of thestral mane
bicorn horn
full, undamaged mussel shell
one black cat's fur
caterpillar
13 rose thorns from 13 different roses (plucked ripe from the branches)
Pre-heat the cauldron to 150 celcius degrees
Put one litre of goat milk
Add the thestral mane
Wait for two hours
Put out the fire and wait for it to cool down
Crush the bicorn horn into a fine powder in the meantime and add it once the potion is cool enough for you to touch
Check point: it should be cool in maximum 15 minutes
With a wooden stick, stir it five times clockwise, four times counter clockwise, three times clockwise, two times counter clockwise and once clockwise.
Light a fire and bring it to maximum. Let it burn for a full week. Make sure the fire is always at maximum.
Clean the mussel shell gently, make sure there is no moss on it. open it, remove the mussel itself and clean its inside too, then add into the cauldron after a week is up.
Put out the fire and wait for one Moon cycle
Check point: the colour should be silver
Sprinkle half of the fur
With a metal stick, stir vigorously 13 times counter clockwise
Sprinkle the other half of the fur
Stir slowly 13 times counter clockwise
Check point: it should smell like your least favourite flower
Wait for a week
Slice the caterpillar into five equal pieces and add the one by one
Swirl your wand slowly over the cauldron while telling an event you think is unfortunate (the number of swirls doesn't matter, just don't stop until the end of the story)
Light a low fire and wait for 13 days
Get 13 rose thorns from 13 different roses in the gardens and add them all at once
With a metal stick, stir once clockwise
Wait until it changes colour from green to brown
Label it and leave a vial it on the desk
Do NOT! try it without my consent.
If you have done everything correctly, it shouldn't smell or smoke. Its taste should not spoil the substances it is added.
OOC: This is this term's potions event! It is not obligatory. It is open to everyone. Most likely I will not award points, as this is something for character development and a bit of fun (if your character slipped some into his/her friend's cup? ).
I want at least 5 posts in the Potions Laboratory and 2 posts on the grounds collecting rose thorns. The OOC deadline is November 5. You don't have to notify me of your participation, but please title your posts in the lab with "Potions Activity". You don't have to PM your posts in the lab, but you should PM the posts on the grounds. Instead of double-posting, you CAN edit your next post into the previous one if no one has posted in the lab in 3 days. Otherwise, please do not edit unless it is YOUR mistake and not your character's.
I hope you have fun with this! As always, you can PM any and all questions.

No one invited you to this meeting Bellaire.
OOC: This meeting will start on Wednesday, October 1st around 8pm EST.

Queen of Typos | The OTHER OTHER Roro | WICKED is Good
You may only pick one of the following options. If you choose to do both you won't be credited for either of them. Each one is worth 15 points.
Option one:
Each of you were able to get a very good look at a young Bouncing Bulb at class. Your homework is to draw a picture of the Bouncing Bulb in its young stage and mature one. You will find a picture of the mature one in your textbook. And if you forgot what the young ones look like you may go to the Greenhouse and refresh your memory.
ooc: I realize that there isn't much about the Bouncing Bulbs in the books or the movies. But you will find a picture in the wiki and you can draw something close to it. It doesn't have to be perfect or anything. Whether it's in paint, photoshop, by hand…etc. It doesn't matter. What matters is that you make sure it fits the description. Purple, bulb-shaped with few green leaves. Upload the picture to your personal photobucket or tinypic or any other site and PM it to me. Make sure you read how to submit a homework in the rules.
Option two:
Like you may have noticed, there were a lot of bouncing bulbs at the lesson and they all needed potting. So Professor Walton is going to be potting the rest of them and he requires help. You may come anytime to the Fourth Greenhouse from 7 AM till 3 PM where the bulbs cart will be as well as pots and every other required equipment. Make sure to follow the exact steps you were taught in the lesson.
ooc: You will need five posts to get full credit. And you may only RP it at the Greenhouses thread. Do follow the steps mentioned in the lesson but again how you split things up is entirely up to you. And you are also free to decide how many bulbs your charrie is going to pot. Again, the bulbs are young and won't cause serious injury. The professor is usually there at the fourth Greenhouse and I will be keeping an eye out. If your charrie really needs him you may mention that in your post title, although your charrie should know how to do it by now. Make sure you read how to submit a homework in the rules.
Have fun!
Deadline: 10th October, 11:59 PM GMT.
