Slytherin Being Slytherin...

Brings back this thread after
several terms of its absence

There are many misconceptions on what makes a Slytherin, a Slytherin. Many think it's being mean, getting in trouble and causing mayhem. To me being Slytherin is about being cunning, being the best, and having pride. Pride for who you are and pride in the things you do.

Slytherins have a lot in common with the characteristics of those in other houses. Slytherins can be just as loyal and hardworking as Hufflepuffs, just as intelligent and clever as Ravenclaws, and just as brave and bold as Gryffindors.

So, then what makes Slytherins unique? Many would say it is our ambition. We relentlessly strive to be our personal best. We are satisfied with nothing less than success and will use whatever resources we have to achieve our goals.

Ollivander of Ollivander's Wand Shop is famously quoted as saying, "....He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named did great things – terrible, yes, but great." And History tells us the Sorting hat itself said to Harry Potter: "Not Slytherin, eh? - Are you sure? You could be great, you know, it's all here in your head, and Slytherin will help you on the way to greatness, no doubt about that."

Slytherin will help you to greatness, but only if you make the effort to make yourself great, through your own ambition and drive. Remember, being in Slytherin is an honor; Slytherins only accept the best! Now, tell me...

What does being Slytherin mean to YOU?"

ooc: This thread is for you to post what your Slytherin student thinks it means to be Slytherin.

Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when

When I first got my letter from Hogwarts and heard about the various houses, I thought that Slytherin was the house I was definitely not going to be sorted into, considering I am Muggleborn. Now, having been in Slytherin for some time, I can see that blood status doesn't come into it. For me, being Slytherin is showing a fierce determination to push through when things are getting me down. Whether they're the pressures of school work or life in general but having that determination keeps me sane. As a Slytherin, I have the mindset to not let the little things worry me. I think that this house has somehow boosted my confidence which I had been lacking.

As a Slytherin, I've learned to believe in myself, to have confidence in whatever I'm doing. I'm proud to have been chosen by this house, to be a part of the most awesome group of students in Hogwarts.

As a Slytherin, means i have to manage to find a best way to achieve my goals, determination makes me stronger and failure didn't deter me to keep trying. Slytherin is the house i valued most, because being a Slytherin, taught me to determined when im doing something or having goals, never give up for trying and do my very best for everything but still with a good calculation to achieved it.
