Reagan Taylor EraAll historical records pertaining to Ministry of Magic RPG under Minister for Magic, Brennan Cooper [IC January 2068 - December 2072; OOC January 2010 - September 2010]
The REAL Sorting Hat: "Ravenclaw!" This monkey is bananas.
Darius leaned against the wall, content to just listen quietly as his eyes searched the room. He was new here, very new in fact. Everything seemed much more different than Romania; the people, the robes, the...way things were done. He almost missed the quiet solitude of his office where a picture of Ariana sat now packed away in a box at their new home. Shaking the thoughts from his mind he crossed his arms and shuffled his feet to get more comfortable as he listened.
Just when he was beginning to grow bored, the lights began flickering on and off, followed by a piercing scream. Instantly his hand was at his wand, ready to do what was needed. What he didn't know but when things had calmed down and he laid eyes on the parchment he quirked an eyebrow. Something was aloft in the Ministry all right.
But what?

Teresa was frightened, but she recovered quickly, and though she remained worried she did the best she could to calm the people around he. She was ready for action. They had to stop abductions before it happened to anyone else. She looked around the room for any ruminates of escape routes. Years in tech theatre had taught her many tricks of the trade.

Laura had been sitting alone, legs crossed, foot swaying, arms folded across her chest. Minding her own business, as she supposed everyone else was. Just waiting for things to begin. When she noticed the Senior Undersecretary had finally called attention, she straightened up and listened.
Now you see her, now you don't. And - boom! - she was gone...? Laura blinked when the lights came back on and there was a very noticeable absence of the Senior Undersecretary. She wasn't one to scream in situations like that, but she did hear several of those elicited from others around her. Heart racing, she waited anxiously for the Junior Undersecretary to read the piece of parchment that had floated into his possession.

She fell silent, and sat politely while waiting for everything to start.
Malachi smiled, he was glad that she had agreed, even if she did look surprised. Merlin only knew that he needed to get out and talk to someone new. Esme, his daughter, was beginning to drive him a little bit crackers.

"Minister Taylor has been away for quite some time. She has been on a tour of foreign ministries and has been communicating with me via her fireplace on a daily basis. She stopped to clear her throat and gather her thoughts before speaking again. "She was meant to make it back here for this Education Fair. She should have been here by now."
Allie took a deep breath and tried to compose herself a little. Being nervous and fearful was making it hard to say what she so desperately needed to say. When the lights began to flicker and a woman started to scream he unholstered his wand. This was not good. Not good at all. Who was screaming?
When the lights came back on he saw that Ms Carlton had vanished. His eyes snapped to Antigone. She looked shaken, but she was in the arms of another man. Trying to focus, he turned to Frida. "Are you alright?" He had seen a piece of parchment flutter into the hands of a bloke he didn't recognise. Keeping his wand in hand, he looked back at the bloke. "Do you know who he is?" he asked Frida in a low voice. This was all just a little too suspicious for his liking.
Daichi's head immediately sprung up... What just happened? Where did she go?
As he waited to hear the Junior Undersecretary speak, he began to glance about the crowd... looking for anyone... anything that looked suspicious. This was going to be interesting, he thought...

Sam couldn't actually believe what he was hearing. The Minister of Magic MISSING? He looked around the table to if everyone else was just as shocked as he was, and looked like most people were. Hoping that nothing too bad had happened to the Minister, he turned back to Allie. Maybe she had just gotten lost or something on the way? That was ALWAYS a good possibility!
When the lights when out, the Division Head blinked a few times, confused as to what was going on. And then there was screaming. ALLIE was SCREAMING!
"Allie? ALLIE?" He stod up from his chair, totally ready to save her from whatever was making her scream, but then the lights came back on.
...and there was no Allie in sight.
He collapsed back into his chair, eying the parchment that was floating down onto the table. Somebody had better read that quick! Hopefully it wasn't a ransom letter or anything, because if it was, he had NO luck in rescuing Allie since he was broke!

Candy looked up as the lights flashed she blinked, Allie was gone and a piece of parchment had taken her place. She shivered and looked as it floated down. She waited and looked around she seemed to be one of a lot of people that were scared.

Melina walked into the ground level conference room later than she would've liked to be but it seemed that the fair had yet to start. After hearing a sudden scream, Melina turned to the sound with raised eyebrows. It seemed as if Senior Undersecretary Carlton had disappeared... And then over to the Junior Undersecretary as a piece of parchment landed in her lap. There was something strange going on, but then again, when a division head of the Department of Mysteries nothing was impossible. 'Expect the unexpected', Melina's grandfather would say.
Marina turned around, when she heard a cheerful voice. It must be an employee, but it was one she did not know. That said, she was surprised the person knew her name. She was sure they had not met before. But then, she was a Division Head, so maybe that was why?
"Good day to you, too!" She said, cheerfully. "Seeing as you already know my name - may I please know yours, too?"
"I'm Sophia, Ma'am! Sophia McGonagall." she answered happily. "I work at the International Magical Cooperation - British Seats.," she added.

A small piece of parchment seems to be floating down in the exact same spot Senior Undersecretary Carlton once stood. It flutters about until it lands in the hands of the Junior Undersecretary, Mr. Claudian Slughorn.
OOC: SlytherinSistah, who plays Claudian, will read the parchment aloud. As of now, all your character can see is the parchment itself...not what it says.
Claudian was listening intently to the Under-secretary's speech intro. He noted her concern, but could not suppress a bit of whimsical feeling at the possibility that maybe Madame Minister had found herself a nice wizard. Though, it wasn't like her to not check in. He took notes and pushed his thick framed spectacles up higher on his face surprisingly calm until...
The lights had flickered and he heard a witch scream, which made his blood curdle. He could've swore his heart stopped, but before he could note anything more about his reaction there he was. Standing there. With a mysterious parchment in his hand that seemed to fall too unnaturally into his hands to not be charmed.
Fan. Tastic. Especially as he was the one standing closest to Miss Carlton at the time of her disappearance. Oh, Law Enforcement was going to have a hey-day with him. And to top it off, he swore he saw his old Herbology Professor in the audience.
He heard a voice call from the audience and caution not to touch the parchment, and though he wished he could've obeyed that suggestion, the piece was already in his hands. Folded neatly as if by deliberate design.
He swallowed. Fearful of what he might find on the inside of that parchment and though he did not want to, he was unable to stop himself from unfolding it and reading from the sheet. "You came here today to complete a task given to you by the Minister of Magic. You will leave here today completing an entirely different one. Do as you were originally told and complete the obstacle course that lies before you. It was designed to prepare you for real-life challenges. Which await you in the wizarding world.
I'd say by now you realize that a real life challenge has come your way. Go now...educate yourselves. Maybe you'll be able to obtain the skills needed to find your Minister of Magic and your Senior Undersecretary."
Claudian flipped the parchment over, looking for a signature or finger-print, anything that said this might've been the work of anyone else but him, but there was nothing. "It's not signed from anyone."
Pierre looked gruesome as the note was read aloud. He was even more nervous about this now because they wouldn't just be learning, they would be trying to save the Minister and her Senior Undersecretary. He looked around the room to judge the reactions of everyone else.
Daichi was still scrambling over everything in his mind. Something seemed wrong here... "Educate yourselves"?? "Obtain the Skills"?? The parchment seemed to be hiding something... more than just that of its author or origin... He listened intently for more to be revealed...
Claudian was honestly the last person he wanted to talk to. However... He made his way closer. Who in the world would care about this... or at least this much. Supposedly it could be a trick by the Minister, but he doubted it. And if it was, he would be much more impressed. Sadly, it sounded like just another Player. Come, here's a Game. I'll teach you how to play and you'll never be the same. He shuddered slightly at the thought. "This is turning out to be less fun than expected... and I hadn't high expectations to begin with."
He looked up at Claudian. The boy... man... did not deserve to be there, holding that parchment. That was what they had fought for, wasn't it? "Well," he asked in place of Slade, "what are we going to do then?" Who's our player, and who's our king?

Wes listened to what Claudian said and turned it over in his head a few times. That...didn't make any sense. What crazy kidnaper was like "Oh hey, I'll be you the hostages back if you go LEARN?" He stood up and ran a hand through his hair, wandering over to Claudian and reading the note over his shoulder. Hmmmmm...
He looked out at the crowd, who--seemed to be just completely clueless. He didn't blame them, of course. It was only natural that they were confused. She had just VANISHED in front of them! He read it over Claudian's shoulder one more time, and he thought that what they needed to do seemed obvious. They had to continue with the Education Fair. WHY this person wanted them to do this was beyond him but...if that was all the kidnapper person was asking, why NOT do that?!
He glanced at his fellow department heads. Ummm...ok. It looked like nobody was going to stand up and say anything anytime soon SO...he could do it, he supposed.
"Oi! Excuse me!" he shouted out at the crowd. GAH that wasn't going to work. His voice was too weak. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his wand, pointing it to his throat.
"EXCUSE ME!" he yelled, the sonorous spell taking effect immediately and sending his voice throughout the whole conference room. THERE. Now that he had their attention...
"I know you're all very concerned and unsettled by what just happened...believe me, we all are," he said, glancing at his fellow Department Heads, who were clearly just as startled as they were. "But I think it's clear in this note that we need to continue on with this Fair in order to find the Minister and Miss Carlton," he explained.
"So, if you'd please remain calm, and head over to the exit on the right side of the room...if you go that way you'll find yourself on the ground level of the Education Fair and we can get started and find those two as soon as possible!" he told them. Once he had instructed them on what they were to do, he looked uncertainly at his Department Heads and removed his wand from his throat so that his voice returned to normal.
"I suppose we should just...stick to what we had originally set up for the fair as if they aren't missing," he said. He felt odd taking command like this but--they needed to find Reagan and Allie!
Plus Allie would TOTALLY think he was a hero after this. Yup!
"Let's go," he mumbled, heading towards the door on the left side of the room and gesturing for the Department Heads to follow him.
OOC: The Education Fair challenge is officially underway! You may now have your character proceed to the Ground Level Challenge and begin the challenge that is posted in the first post. Have fun, and good luck!

DH moved to a seat when the Senior Undersecretary arrived and listened to what she has to say.
He shifted from his seat when he hear the Undersecretary say that the Minister of Magic is possibly missing. Now this is a twist. He listens to her intently, but then suddenly distracted about the flickering lights of the hall and then sudden darkness. DH was then startled when he heard a woman's scream and when the lights came back up, Alllie was gone, but instead a small parchment hovered and landed on the Junior Undersecretary's hands.
DH looked at the boy and then, listened as he read the message.
Very interesting. Now what to do?

Once seated, Prometheus listened to the Undersecretary, and as all had noticed she seemed on edge. The missing Minister was a worrying topic, however it would have to wait as next there was darkness and the scream of a lady. With that he was off his chair in an instant, wand held high, in case of attack.
Um...no,i am...i am fine she stuttered to be getting all the stupid attention for being unlady like and falling down. She nodded and gingerly walked a bit towards the seat. i am Laura Thomas she said Department Of Internastional Magical Cooperation she continued and then turned to look at the woman, the Undersecretary speak and then suddenly she vanished. what is going on? she murmured stunned as the woman vanished...her hand automatically reaching for her wand in her cloak but didnt bring it out.
ANd then Laura heard Claudian speak and she was stunned beyond belief...what sort of education fair is this she thought but then waited for further clarifications and then some other person spoke up with his blaring sonorous voice and then she nodded as she heard him. Drago looked over at Wesley and nodded. At least one of them was taking charge. Over the ruckus, he took one last look at Claudian. "He never wanted you to know... Your king wasn't who you manipulated. Your king was the one thing you wanted to protect the most, your goal, and your dream. After everything that happened... What he did wasn't fair. And I thought you deserved to know." With that, he followed everyone out to the first challenge, pulling the tie out of his hair. Drago wouldn't be needed.
Pierre listened as another worker got up and told them to go on with the challenge. Well, if I must, I must. He catiously pushed back from his seat. He was one of the first to get up. After he was standing, he headed over to the door that they were instructed to walk through. Well, here goes nothing.
Ben was ready to approach the person reading the note when another person spoke up. He agreed with him. The best thing to do now was to continue and play along with the note's suggestion. He looked at Pierre and then made his way through the crowd to try and be first out the door...
Antigone started as Wes SHOUTED in her ear basically. "Bugger..." she muttered as she rubbed her ear with her finger. That was so RUDE.
He was right though, they had to do what was asked of them or Reagan and Allie would be in serious trouble. She looked at the door marked Dept. Heads as he directed everyone to file through to her challenge. "Good luck everyone,"s he tried to say in a businesslike tone as she straightened her back and walked through the door and to her area.

Rex rolled his eyes when told to take a seat on the Stage, and made a mental note of his division heads who read the notice and were in attendance. Once he was seated, he continued to drink his coffee but stopped when the note was read. Odd message.... And fought the urge to trip Wes.
Sighing, he nodded in agreement and followed Wes out of the room.

Daichi still had a very uneasy feeling after listening to his department head tell everyone to go on with the fair, "as if they aren't missing"... But deep down, he knew that not much else would be accomplished by sitting around waiting for debate or discussion. He gathered himself together, waited for the majority of the passing crowd to exit through the door next to him, then exited, proceeding to the ground level...

Okay, Chloe needed to resign herself to the fact that Asher wasn't showing up. Where was he? Had he gone home early? He had been fine that morning. What if he had disappeared too?! Chloe gripped her wand tighter and listened as one of the department heads told them all that they would have to continue. She took a deep steadying breath. She had suffered worse than an education fair, right? Turning toward the door, she saw Pierre leaving. She was NOT about to leave him alone. "Pierre! Wait!" she shouted and hurried out of the room after him.
