The Game:
The professors hid a fake version of the Diadem inside one of the books. Can you, and your Niffler, find it?

Rules for the game:

• This will mainly be an RP game to have fun, interact with your fellow eagles, the nifflers and the professors that will be involved.
• The object of the game is to look for Rowena Ravenclaw's infamous diadem in the book maze. A fake version of course since nobody knows where the real diadem is.
• Go crazy with searching high and low for the diadem and you'll be allowed to play/control your very own niffler.
• Every 2 weeks(ooc) throughout the term, the Grey Lady will post a clue/hint in the Announcement's thread and in this thread to guide your eagle closer to finding the diadem. So everyone should be on the lookout for the clues!
• The winner will be the first pair that will guess WHICH book the fake diadem is hidden in (yes, it's a real book from the HP canon). However, you may not voice out your guess until the end of the term looms and the Grey Lady asks you to send in your guesses. This isn't a serious guessing game, so don't stress over it but enjoy the RP portion of it!
• This is a great opportunity to bond with your new mentoring buddy. So go for it!
• If you take part in the game and find the diadem first you just might win something pretty.

Helena had her hands folded at her waist, hovering by the statue of Rowena. She had her slightly detached expression on her face, it was time the students did some clever adventures in this tower. It was a pity that all the secret passages and the hidden bookshelves weren't explored enough.

Well, it has certainly been much too long since Javy was last here. He had collected the fuzzy Nifflers from his Play Pens area into a nice and large cage, blanketed over so they were asleep. Nice and quiet, that was the key to the surprise. He was quite glad to be asked on whether some of his creatures could be used for the benefit on exercising the student's mind. So here they were.

Once inside his former common room, Javy noticed the house ghost who was seen chilling by Rowena's statue, "Good day, Helena." Before removing the disillusionment charm and then uncovering the cage of the Nifflers. Now they left to wait for the fun to begin. Soon as Leo, Botros and the students arrived. Hehe.

One of the professors was precise, at least. Helena politely bowed to Professor Thompson, "Good day, professor." and hovered a little away from the cage of Nifflers when it came to view. She wasn't against the creatures, only she was more interested in the intellectual part of this activity. "They don't chew books, I hope." The ghost commented idly.

The one time when Leo had wanted a smooth morning everything had of course decided to act up starting with the vombat droppings and spider webs he had had to clean out of the Stained Glass Window's section. A little flushed because of stress the curly haired HoH made his way into the Ravenclaw common room and over to the area for the Book Maze start.

Mood brightening considerably at the sight of Javy and Helena already there Leo chirped happily. "Good day Javy, Helena." Studying the caged nifflers he commented to Javy. "The nifflers look well rested. I hope shiny cauldron cakes will work as bait in the hunt?"

Looking over at the Grey Lady he asked "Is everything set for the hunt? I know you've done a good job with organizing everything."

Now they just needed the students and Abraham to arrive.

Yeah Nigel forgot for a couple days that he signed up for the mentoring thing. He probably thought since he was a Prefect and all it was his responsible it sign up and since Dora did. He had to also. Though he did not realize all the Seventh Years would get first years. Interesting that was.

At least he knew Kyroh a little from the train and the doughnut thing. Hehe They really got Dima and Kyroh with that. He thought he told Kyroh to meet him at this new Maze thing. What better way to bond or whatever then have some fun at whatever this thing was.

Looks like he was not the only one here. One Professor, His Head of House and The Grey Lady. Plus some nifflers. Awesome.

"Hello, Professor Thompson, Mr Kitridge, and Hello Grey Lady"

This had a chance of being something awesome.

Kyroh had signed up for the mentoring thing of course. Although he knew about Hogwarts he didn't know spells and maybe other important things that older students would know.

When he saw who his mentoring buddy was, Kyroh was actually elated because it was NIGEL. And he already knew Nigel. He was the long haired guy from the train who had actually spoken to him. He was the nice one. Nigel was also a Prefect but Kyroh had only discovered that recently.

Running down the stairs from the boys dorm, Kyroh made his way into the common room, and then into the exact spot where he was suppose to meet his mentor.

A few people were already in the room-Nigel included. As well as Professor Thompson and the Grey Lady. And a curly haired man that Kyroh was sure he had seen before. He knew he had seen him at the feast but somewhere BEFORE that. When he was younger. He was SURE of it."Hi Nigel!!" The young claw greeted cheerfully as he went to stand beside his buddy. "And hello Miss Grey Lady and Professor Thompson and-"

OOOOH HE KNEW!

......"Are you the one who burned down the library or something Sir? And then there was a fundraiser!" Kyroh beamed. He had remembered!

At the sight of the bow, instinctly made Javy return said bow with one of his own. It was common knowledge to him to show the same amount of respect. As for the Niffler's diet, "Ah, not to worry, the books in their current kept state should be fine and out of their cravings." So long as no one snuck something shiny inside the pages. The shiny cauldron cakes on the other hand that Leo prepared as bait. "Perfect. That'll satisfy them." Now the waiting game first.

Luckily Javy didn't have to wait long at all. Soon enough he recognised two of his students, "Ah Good day, Mr. Barrington and Mr. Scabior." This was great, now they just needed some more students before he could start passing out the Nifflers and-

Well.. Javy blinked at the question from Mr. Scabior on the library. Looking quickly at Leo before back at him. Goodness, he didn't even have to be present during that time of the tragic event to answer,"Mr. Scabior, I believe you're mistaken on that." Javy couldn't even imagine Leo doing that even if Imperiused. "Mr. Kitridge is much too fond and proud of the library to even consider burning it." Hmm, was it close to starting time soon?

Helena lifted a hand to inspect her nails when HoH Kitridge adressed her. "Everything is set." she confirmed calmly. Glancing over at the CoMC professor she said. "Good, All books in this common room are precious." And she knew that the librarian agreed.

It was at this moment that the first student's decided to turn up. Bowing her head in acknowledgement towards the prefect she said "Good day Nigel, I trust your NEWT studies are going well?"

The first year got a reproachful look from her. "Kyroh, apologize to Mr Kitridge he certainly didn't do such a thing as burn down the library. It was set on fire by an angry ghost." Or hadn't Kyroh's parent's told him that?

Helena shook her head and announced clapping her ghostly transparent hands togethere. "Let's get this treasure hunt started shall we! Professor Thompson please give Nigel and Kyroh a niffler each. The first clue of the hunt is: the diadem is hidden in a children's book! Get searching everyone!"

OOC: The first clue of the hunt has been given eg the diadem is hidden in a children's book. Everyone should start searching. Look out for the next clue it will be announced in ca 2 weeks.

There he was. Pretty good timing also. "Hey, Kyroh" Seems like they were already to get started. That was good and what was that. Kitridge set fire to the library. Nigel must have been really out of it to never hear that. It was pretty awesome if it was true.

Which is turns out not to be. Stupid ghost getting caught. Though if it was his Kitridge he would probably be out of a job. So there was that. "They are Grey Lady, Just taking a little break for this." Too much studying would blow his mind. Ooo now they were going to finally start.

"Thanks" Nigel did not really understand the point of the niffler. But it was just something to add to this fun thing. Maybe they could have a bet. Nigel looked down at Kyroh and whispered. "You want to let the nifflers lose in the maze and make a bet on which finds something first? We can mark them with magic once he are in the maze" It is not like they are in the common room or anything. Oh, wait they were suppose to be finding a diadem.

It would help if he could remember any children books beside The Tales of Beedle the Bard.

Mistaken? So he was wrong? Kyroh had been SURE thats what he had heard. From adults too! So he had too be right! But Thompson said he was wrong...unless Professor Thompson was lying of course, but he didn't see why Professor Thompson would lie. The man looked nice!

But then the Grey Lady gave him a LOOK. And Kyrohs shoulders caved in just slightly, as if he were trying to shrink himself. Was he in trouble? He hadn't meant to be wrong and make the mistake! It was just what he had heard. And there was a fundraiser. And he had been spiderman. "Sorry Mr. Kitridge." He mumbled sadly.

Kyroh was doing his best to seem small when Nigel spoke up. Mark the nifflers with magic? Let them loose? OH THESE FUZZY THINGS WERE NIFFLERS!? Kyrohs eyes lit up once more, forgetting all about how sad he was just moments ago. Where they even suppose to do that? "OKAY!" Because Nigel was older and cooler and KNEW stuff!

Letting the nifflers lose was probably the only fun thing Nigel could think of for this thing. He had never been in this corner of the common room. So it was a complete mystery to him. If it isn't in seeing distance of his favorite chair. It was not worth the effort.

Well guess it was time to enter the maze apparently. Or something. He was not entirely to sure. He liked specific instructions. Not 'Just Get Started' But what can he do. Plus, since Kyroh was a first year. It would be idiotic to ask if he was in the is part before. They have time and more clues coming. So conversation time. That was part of the mentoring thing also.

"Soo...what do you like to do for fun?"

Because really Nigel has forget basically everything about being 11/12. Other than he still likes Batman.

Kyroh wanted to know HOW to mark the Nifflers with magic and how they could even find their way around. Were they just good finders? There were WAY too many books in here for HIM to find anything and Kyroh thought that he was a good finder himself.

Fun? "I like to explore!" Kyroh said happily. The castle was so big it was awesome. Like a giant play area. "And read stories read comic books! And sometimes play pretend but my cousins always say that playing pretend is for little babies so if it is then I don't like it that much." He still liked it, just not THAT much if it was for babies y'know? Although he was an only child so sometimes playing pretend was needed.

"What do you like to do?" Do you play with Nifflers ALL the time?" Was he like best friends with the Nifflers? Kyroh stuck RIGHT by Nigles side as they entered the maze, because he didn't want to get lost or anything and the other boy probably could never get lost because he knew stuff.

So yeah. Nigel should be marking the nifflers. It was not fancy magic. It was just...it was more lazy to do it with a wand than get a two markers and mark them. With a flick of his wand both nifflers were marked with different colored markings. Didn't really matter what they were. Nigel made them starfishes because he liked starfishes." Not that exciting. But it works"

Ah, exploring is fun. when you do not know a lot about the castle and everything here. Definitely. "I do enjoy a good comic book or book in general.......and that is true. But making whatever you were doing into reality would be a lot cooler"

What he liked to do was such a bad question because nobody his age asked it because they knew without say. But yeah. Well...fine. "Playing Music, Crazy Things and being as completely lazy as possible. Which is harder than you think"

Nifflers...why did he think Nigel played with them all the time. He did not even like CoMC besides Thompson. He was cool even with that stuff with Fuller. Whatever. "I only know a little. I used one to find some gold coins a couple years ago in Care of Magical Creatures. That is about it"

Weird. Now where were they. Probably lost in this maze thing.

Could be worse.

Kyroh watched, in complete awe as Nigel did the marking thing. He tried to pay super close attention so he would know how to do it himself later, but it was as if as soon as the spells were done how the older boy did it vanished from his brain. "But they're Starfishes that's exciting!" Kyroh said pointing before the Nifflers took off and were....gone. What? WHERE DID THEY GO? He turned to Nigel, a small frown on his face. "I wish I was as good at magic as you are."

Magic didn't seem hard for Nigel and the older kids at all.

OHOH?!? The older boy didn't think that pretending was for babies? "Maybe you could play pretend with me sometime then. You can be like the bad guy." The bad guy with long hair. Yup. Bad guys did usually have long hair after all.

"You play music? What kind of music?" Huh. Music was cool! But Kyroh had never met anyone who actually played instruments or anything before. He knew Dima. Dima could fence. But he didn't think that counted at all."Why is being lazy hard?"

"Did the gold coins make you rich?" Was he like a rich king or something now? Kyroh looked around. To his right all he saw were books. And to his left- more books. Upahead- a lifetime supply of books. "I wonder if we can't come out of here and get really hungry if we can eat the books." Like, were they nutritious?

Awesome. Kyroh understood the awesomeness of sea stars. Nigel turned at that question. Flattery will get you places and everyone liked a little flattery. "Practice and a lot more practice. Plus this type of practice is fun. Instead of memorizing boring facts and stuff" Where did their nifflers run off too. Looks like they were on their own now. Stupid nifflers trying to get all the glory for themselves.

Plus since Plant magic and divination magic did not interest him. Why bother practicing. So yeah. Not good at all magic and stuff. Oh Pretend. Well he was a little vague on that. But if it was fun and did not mess with his hair. He was in. "Sure as long as my hair is not bothered"

Music. Well he was in a band. So he liked all types of music. Not really country though. "Yes I'm in a band. Mostly rock." Though TDK was making there own music now and it was an awesome feeling. Kyroh was just firing question after question at him Not that he minded. It was something to do will looking for their nifflers.

"Because it requires effort to not do anything and not caring about the stuff you should be doing." Other than that. It was very easy. If you did not care about work and things.

"No they were leprechaun gold and disappeared" Shame. But it not like a Professor would be giving out really gold. It was during that time when Hogwarts was still poor-ish. If Nigel's memory served him. It usually didn't.

"Too bad we can't magic food with our wands. Would make life easier. I don't think i want to know what book tastes like. Though maybe starting a explosion would tell them we gave up or something. Fire, maybe. But that is in the future when we are starving"

Books probably tasted horrible too. And some could probably bite back.

Practice. He could practice! He could!! Though Kyroh didn't think memorizing facts were boring. It just depended on what kind of facts. Like remembering facts about DRAGONS was fun. Remembering facts about plants not so much.

Even if the plants could eat you.

No plants.

"I'm gonna practice even more than you." And then MAYBE he'd be as good as him before Nigel graduated yeah???

Oh man. Nigel was going to play pretend with him! Kyroh stopped walking and stared at him. Just stared. In awe. Complete and utter awe. It took him a second and he shook it off and continued to walk. Kyroh was convinced. Nigel was THE BEST buddy ever. He was. He really was. They would make plans for it LATER though. After they found the Nifflers...and then the clue. "Why is your hair so long anyways?"

Kyroh gazed under a shelf and then under a bookcase. Nifflers? Heeeeree snifflers. "Are you guys any good? Who's in it?" He was still looking under the bookcases only brought his gaze up when he was sure that he saw no movement. "But what if you actually do care about the stuff you're suppose to be doing?" Kyroh didn't think that he'd be to good at being lazy. Maybe Nigel was right. Too much effort.

That didn't sound good. Thinking you found gold only to be tricked. As for the book eating the first year nodded. Yeah. Books probably tasted like old toliet paper or something. "Starting an explosion in here might also turn us into barbecue. And i'm not allowed to die." Cause....reasons. Secret reasons.

Man Eating Plants were the worst for many reasons. Man Eating being Number One. Though reading about them is more fun than the practical portions. Though Nigel is bias since he id not the biggest fan of herbology. He likes Bentley though.

Now that was a fine goal to have. "Nice" That would be seriously impressive if he pulled that off. He was a claw after all. So maybe not terribly surprised. And like he said. As long as his hair does not get messed up. Playing pretend was fine with him. Bonus points if it was awesome. Who knew. Nigel never played pretend. So it was something new.

He was definitely complimenting Nigel's hair. Definitely. So Nigel just smiled and said "Yeah" It was beautiful if Nigel did not say so himself. All the hours spent on it are paying off now. He could use a tiny haircut though. But effort. Nigel helped Kyroh look for the Niffler. Knowing that you would not find one under a bookcase. But did not have the heart to tell him. Plus it was comical watching him search. "Yeah. We are alright" Humble about this, Nigel was."Two Slytherins. West Odessa and Ascanius Stark. Also a Ravenclaw. Vesper Bayliss. You probably seen her in the common room with her note book."

This was getting way to complicated way too fast. Though the answer was easy enough. "Then you are not being lazy. But being productive. Big difference."

Nigel Barrington, Dropping Knowledge since 2083

"Not with some handy spells it won't" Yes he said handy. It was better than nifty. Never using that word again. Please, Nigel was experienced with explosions and knew enough to not get turned into barbecue. Getting Roasted is a different story.

"We don't want to die. That is true" Though he had no idea about the not allowed to die. Did he join some type of club and had that juvenile rule in place.

Crazy talk.

Kyroh couldn't imagine being in a band. Mostly because he couldn't play any instruments and it seemed hard. Not at all like a secret group which seemed much easier.

"I KNOW THEM!" Well some of them. Not Ascanius Stark? "West and Vesper I mean. They are cool." Uhhuh. Vesper was that nice with with healthy snacks. And west was that other REALLY tall guy with really really long hair, who remembered him teaching? Kyroh hadn't remembered West all that well but he seemed cool and nice."What do you do in the band?"

Hmmm. Kyroh glanced around a bit more and saw she movement up ahead. The first year pointed and then grinned up at his mentor. NIFFLER!?"I think i'd rather be productive then." Just cause being lazy sounded too hard.

There were handy spells to stop you from being barbecued? Well CLEARLY Kyroh had to learn them too. Just in case. "We're not Hufflepuffs so I don't even think Hogwarts would allow it."

Interesting. It was no surprise that he knew West. Who didn't, really? Seriously who didn't. Maybe some first years. But that was about it. And since Vesper was a Claw also it made sense. But it would have been a complete shock if he knew Scan. Now that was a pretty good question. He did not make songs unless he was helping Scan with one about being zen. But other than that he just played bass and had fun at practice.

Nothing else really.

"I just play bass guitar and have fun"

He caught on a lot quicker to this weird and fascinating chat about laziness and productivity than Nigel ever thought possible for a first year. Impressive. Ah there was the niffler. Maybe it had found something. Or was just hungry for books. Who knows. But they will have to find out. "Maybe it found something. Or is hungry....50/50...and That would be the best strategy to getting work done and not getting yelled at. "

Yes, indeed there were. Just not in the beginner books. Nigel had to laugh. Hufflepuffs dying first was always Nigel favorite rumor/fact. "True. We just mind our own business and let Puffs be Puffs"

He was slightly kidding. But it was still hilarious.

Having floated over to the side Helena watched as Kyroh and Nigel got their nifflers and started searching high and low. Floating closer she said. "Keep up the good work boys! The second clue is: Difficult to find, if not impossible. But not due to its value." To not let a niffler pass through her by accident the classy ghost floated back to her former position.

OOC: The next clue has been given. Come and play eagles!
