Alyssa quickly took that dare. Leaning forward on her broomstick, she raced for the gumdrop that Penny had hit all the way to the other end of the pitch. She looked to see whether the others were any where nearby but didn't see them, so with a loug glorious laugh, she got ready her bat and when she flew past the gumdrop swung her bat and hit it backhandedly back at Penny. Then she turned her broom and raised both hands in triumph. YES!!

Katrina smiled at the Ravenclaw. She did quite well in befriending them, you know. Heh. Katrina flew a bit higher.

"I'm Katrina!" the little Slytherin made her voice a bit higher so that Elise could hear her.

Katrina then saw two gumdrops, pink & purple ones... or was that violet? Hmmm... nevermind.

Katrina positioned her bat and.

SMACK!

The purple one went away, going to other students. Then she positioned her bat to hit the pink one.

SMACKK!

That one was louder than other one. But at least she hit it.

Well, Sierra had thought wrong. Just when she'd thought the activity might be coming to an end, she glanced around to see that the pitch was just as busy as ever. She sighed, although way up here in the air it was a useful effort, and then took off down the pitch.

Gumdrops were floating everywhere, but she attacked none of them. She wanted to fly fast for one, not simply glance to the side and tap the first one she saw. Her brown eyes scanned the pitched for the perfect gumdrop, the one she'd smack right into oblivion.

...and there it was. All purple and plump and just waiting to be hit. With a wicked grin on her face, Sierra lowered herself toward the broom's handle then took off. The purple gumdrop grew closer and closer, and as it did, Sierra raised her bat. When she got right up on it, she raised her bat even further then swung! She felt the glorious impact as bat met candy. Ha! Another one smacked down the pitch!

Oh. Another girl hit a gumdrop towards here. Hehehe, everybody sent her gumdrops now.

Katrina positioned her gumdrop, ready to hit it, and...

BAM!

She hit it. This was great. Maybe she should try out for beater next year! Heh.

"Nice to meet you!" she called over the wind, zooming over to hit a decetly sized yellow gumdrop.

THWACK!

Penny laughed out loud as she watched chase the gumdrop...she was ready to take the picture she needed for her Potions homework - 3..2..1..CLICK just as Alyssa smacked it with her bat..."Oh well done Lyssie, You win the prize of being immortalised in Picture...that was hard luck Harvey", but while Penny was congratulating Alyssa, the gumdrop was on it's way back to her..

The candy was about fifteen feet away, when Penny remembered that it was coming, pulling bat her bat all the way she swung it forward and yelled "Harvey, this one is for you", and with an almighty swing she thumped the gumdrop towards Harvey..

"my name is louise it is nice to meet someone else on my year, that was a great hit by the way" she hit it back towards her

"It's nice to meet you too, Elise!" Katrina said and zoomed around to beat more gumdrops.

Oh, Louise. Cute name, though. Hehe.

"Nice to meet you Louise!" Katrina said. Louise sent a gumdrop at her. Katrina positioned her bat again and...

Smack!

Haha. Great hit, Katrina made. She said so herself. SHE SHOULD TRY OUT FOR BEATER. She'd do great, unless those bludgers go a bit too fast for her.

Katrina looked back at the Hufflepuff. "I'm Katrina!"

Elise grinned, spying two gumdrops on the other side of the field. Zooming over,

She hit one of them to Katrina. A nice green one.

One, two, three.

WHACK!

Now, the next one.

It didn't budge. Frowning determinedly, she decided to try again.

Tori's arm was getting a little tired of whacking all these dumb gumdrops. But she went after yet another one with a vengeance, winding her bat up to give it a good solid whack! and send it flying across the pitch.

But just as she did so, another one came flying right at her face. The girl gasped and ducked to avoid getting a faceful of sticky candy. Wouldn't want to end up stuck like Hollingberry, now would she. Heh.

Tori giggled to herself and zoomed off to go tail Greingoth some more.

Katrina smiled back at Elise. Ravenclaws are sooooooo easy to befriend. No wonder why she's got a lot from that house.

Now that Elise had sent another gumdrop to her. Oh! A green one, Slytherin! Haha, random thought.

Katrina positioned her bat once more, aiming for that Slytherin gumdrop.

Smack!

This game was getting fun. Smacking all those gumdrops! But when Katrina saw Elise miss one, the blonde determined herself to help her friend. "Are you okay, Elise? You could hit another one."

Katrina's gumdrop was hit by Louise. Now, Louise sent it back to her. Determined to hit it, Katrina swung her arm.

Smack!

Another hit! Since Elise did feel bad about not hitting her old gumdrop, the Slytherin sent it to her. "Maybe I should," Katrina laughed. Though, she didn't want to tryout because there were people in Slytherin who are better in beating than she could.

TWEET!

The gigantic gumdrops vanished and Professor Vindictus motioned for everyone to land. "Well done, everyone! Please return your brooms to the rack and the bats to the box. Once that is done, you have permission to leave," he said. "If you're interested in homework, an assignment will appear within 24 hours."

Minerva landed and put her broom and bat back. "Thank you so much for a great lesson." Minerva said as she was leaving.

Kourtney had just stopped in mid-air as the whistle sounded. Glancing back, she listened to Professor Vinductus speak and then guided her broom to the ground. She climbed off, holding the bat steady and walked over to the box, placing the bat inside. She then put away the broom in the same place that she had removed it. Homework? Great. Another way to earn some points for her house. They might never catch up, but at least she was trying.

"Great lesson, Professor." It really was...how often did they get to swing Beater bats and hit giant gumdrops through the air?

With that, she turned and walked off of the pitch. Next stop; the common room.

Broom still stuck in the gumdrop, Kurumi sighed as she tried to maneuver her way to the ground - which was rather difficult considering the weight of the gummy was doing nothing but horrible things to her balance.

Once her feet finally touched down, Kurumi attempted to lift her broom, but it ended up pulling her to the ground instead and her face faceplanted right into the top of the gumdrop. Ruddy thing. How was she supposed to remove it?

"Thank you for the lesson, Professor Vindictus," she said with a small bow, glancing down at her lollipop broom. Maybe...she was supposed to eat the gumdrop off of it? That didn't sound very appealing. There was no telling where all those bats had been prior to the lesson. "S-Sorry about the broom..."

As the gumdrops vanished with Professor Vindictus' whistle. Katrina stopped flying her broom. She returned it to the rack and got her bag.

"Thanks for the great lesson, Professor!" the First Year said and left.

Alyssa was disappointed that the flying lesson was over. She had thoroughly enjoyed herself. But it was time to land. So she leaned forward on her broom and slowly lowered it and until she hovered a foot from the ground. Once her feet touched the ground, she dismounted off the broom and returned it back to the rack. Then she walked to the box and gently laid the bat in it. Picking up her things, she walked over to Professor Vindictus. "Thank you for another interesting lesson, Professor. I loved the idea of the giant gumdrops. It definitely gave me a chance to get some Quidditch practice in hitting gumdrops with the bat. I hope that the rest of your day will continue to be a good one."Alyssa then walked off and waited for Penny to catch up with her before returning to the castle.

Well that had been fun. Tori couldn't deny that she was happy it was over though, cuz her arms were TIRED. Whew. She was not destined to be a beater. Ever.

"Nice lesson, professor," the redhead called out as she gracefully swooped to a landing. She carefully stored her broom away and gave him a wave as she trotted back to the castle.

Phew!

That was a great lesson. While Kennedy was having fun, he was happy it had ended. His right hand felt as if it had grown some extra muscle. He was going to have to even out his left arm. Setting the broom back to where it belonged, Kennedy went to retrieve his belongings. "Thanks for a fun lesson, Professor Vindictus," he said before leaving the pitch.

Suddenly the evil giant gumdrops disappeared and Violet saw Professor Vindictus signalling them to come down. Thank Merlin, she could return to solid ground. Carefully she steered her broom handle around and tried to lower it slowly enough to avoid a crash-landing, which she did (well, there were a few bumps, but those didn't count!) She couldn't wait to put her broom in the rack and leave the field and return to the library...wait, what was that? Homework?!! For Flying Class? Not another assignment! Violet only hoped that it wouldn't involve a hands-on demonstration.

Suddenly, she felt a jerking in the inner pocket of her robe--what was it--was that Lewis, her egg for Charms class? What in Merlin's name was wrong with it now? Oh, why did she ever take it with her flying? She hadn't been thinking, she might have fallen off her broom and ruined it! (broken bones could be healed, but if her class project for Charms was ruined, she'd never get over it).

Hastily she left the practice pitch and went over to sit on one of the benches, then shakily took Lewis out to examine it--the egg was sort of bouncing up and down in a kind of jerky movement, rather like a little puppy that wanted to go for a walk. She smoothed it with her hand, murmuring little comforting nothings to it--"It's all right, Lewis, you're back on the ground now, shhhhushhhh........" Slowly the shiny, silvery egg with its mysterious swirlings began to become still, almost like it was calming down. Just when it seemed at rest, it gave one last, sharp bounce which nearly carried it off of Violet's lap (but she was ready for that--she had been taking care of it for over a week now and was up to its tricks!) Then it seemed calm once more.

Violet felt it all over--it seemed dry, but not too dry, neither too warm nor too cold, and it was still shiny, with no dirt or tarnish. It seemed perfectly all right, except for the odd behavior. It was almost as if it was afraid of flying, too! Was it picking up on her emotions now? Maybe close physical proximity had created some sort of bond or something--this was interesting! Violet got out the journal she was keeping for this egg project and which she carried in her pocket (another pocket, not with Lewis, it might scratch him or something!) and began to scribble down her observations.

Jesifur landed and put her broom away. As she walked by the professor she said , "Thank you, Sir. Another brilliant lesson."
