Default QQS Shelves & Displays

The shelves and displays are the first thing you notice as you enter in the Quality Quidditch Supplies shop. The side walls of the shop are neatly stacked with brooms and posters galore. You will find the latest brooms in stock as well as the typical family broom available. Between the side walls there are various shelves that are filled with various quidditch supplies and goods. This includes but is not limited to robes neatly arrayed on stacks, keeper gloves and on the two most outer-middle shelves, broom service kits. Lastly the back wall displays books and other reading materials, all to do with Quidditch of course.

All items are displayed with a price tagged on them. Be sure to handle with care, if you break something you must pay for it. When you are done here, go on ahead to the counter to pay for your new goods. Otherwise if you need any assistance at all please feel free to ask the shopkeeper, Brad. He will be more than glad to help you.

Ooc: Please do not RP for the shopkeeper. The Diagon Alley Rules apply at all times. If you have any questions, you can ask them in the Diagon Alley Questions thread.

That's what they needed to help get them both past tryouts and on the team.

"Speaking of quidditch, did you hear Bel is the new captain?" Her bright smile reflected her enthusiasm over the change. Not that she hadn't loved their former captain, it was exciting to have a fresh start after a not so great year for the team. "I bet we can win this year. At least not come in last. That would be a nice change."
"Thank you very much. Playing Quidditch is good for muscle strength. I have found that I have developed a bit of muscle definition in my arms," Daisy said as she showed Emmalyn her slightly tanned arms. "I'm glad to share the magazines with you."

Daisy nodded in agreement about Em's hope for their house Quidditch team. "I would love it if we win this year. I am determined to win."

"You're really awful at lying you know that?" Boy chided, Quinn dropped the glare. "Not that it mattered, I doubt my Mother heard a thing you said. Don't take it personally, she barely hears anything I say as well."

Ah, yes the broom. Quinn casually studied the boy as if debating on something. On the one hand, he did try to help, on the other hand, if her Mum had been anyone else at all, he would have gotten her busted a dozen times over. She shrugged. "Special treatment because I'm pretty sure my Mum is having an affair with the Headmistress... or she just bribed her. Either or. Or both. Could be both. And so I get to bring a broom." She shrugged again as if to say, 'life's not fair.'

"After all, we are Kevelles..." She said it in an impressive imitation of her Mother, and like she was expecting him to know them by name alone, and be impressed, because in her Mother's messed up head, being rich made you famous.

Quinn rolled her eyes, and glanced back to the front of the shop. Her Mother was already starting to look impatient and annoyed. She grinned and turned back to Mark. "So, Quodpot?"
"I know right?" He turned around again and squatted to face her, still underneath a display. "I try to lie, I don't know why it's so hard for me." He shrugged. What he was good at was receiving mean or annoyed glares. There was just something so oddly familiar with the one's Quinn was giving him.

"Yeah...um. My Mum is way better at paying attention to me than a normal Mum should." He jabbed his thumb over his shoulder directing his attention to the Young-looking Lady outside of the shop looking in. Her hand holding tight onto a 5 year-old's who is also looking inside.
Realizing yet again that's probably rude her turned around and waved quickly at her and gave her a sweet smile.

Then he had a shocked look on his face. That was a very big story to just outright say and in a public place no less. Well sort of Public she was still under the display after all. "Bribes and an Affair. That's...that's big." Uh and she was Okay with tell him this? She already knows he's terrible at keeping secrets. What if he can't keep this one?! Okay Mark this is a test...but wait no. Something like that shouldn't be allowed to happen? If the Head Mistress was doing such things behind closed doors! This had to get out. Somehow?? He wasn't even sure if what she was saying was truthful to be honest. It couldn't be that. It really couldn't. Maybe her Mum is just dumb? Stay cool, stay calm and just assess and think things through, Mark Hollis.

Was he supposed to who the Kevelle's were? He was Gunter and His Mum was a Big Deal in the Fashion Industry. But that doesn't mean everyone should know who she is...he thinks? Like He doesn't know Famous Gobstone People so...Yeah? He tilted his head in confusion at her proclamation of being a Kevelle.

"Oh right Quodpot." He responded excitedly. "It's so cool and Action Packed. The Ball or as they call it the Quod. EXPLODES" queue crazy hand flailing to match his saying 'Explodes'.

"You really ought to work on that more. It's a useful skill to have." How the kid survived ten years without the absolutely essential skill of lying was beyond her. He had to have parents, that fact alone should have necessitated some level of mastery of lying. But to each their own.

Mark did impress her with how unflinching he was to her withering glare, of which she was utterly convinced of her mastery. Kid had some hidden depths to him.

Quinn glanced in the direction he was jabbing his thumb at the person who was apparently his Mother. Yep. See, parents. Told you. And he was actually waving to her happily. Sometimes, Quinn forgot how messed up her family was. It was easy when she was holed up in her house to imagine everyone's family was....well not quite as dysfunctional as her, but close enough. Then she'd have a day out in public and CRASH! the illusion shattered. "Yeah well, I'm infinitely certain normal mums pay attention to their kids loads better than my Mum." The was no hint of emotion in her voice to betray what she might have felt regarding that.

The play of expressions on his face was entertaining to watch, and she had to bite her lip to keep from snorting in laughter. Once she was in control of herself again, she let her face fall into a sort of bored, resigned look and shrugged. "That's just how my family is," she sighed. "I'm not, though. And I don't plan on ever being like them." By them she of course meant dearest Mum and Daddy. No, she'd never let herself grow up to be either of them.

"Exploding balls, huh? That's exciting." Her tone didn't seem to agree. She glanced back at her Mother, who was growing increasingly impatient. "Almost done, Mother!" There, that should hold her Mother off for a few more minutes. Quinn turned back to Mark.
"What else?"

She nodded in agreement with Daisy about being determined to win. They could do it. She glanced over at the clock on the wall and noticed the late time. "Looks like it's getting late. I have my broom and supplies ready for purchase at the counter. Do you need any help with your magazines?" Her hands were free to help carry if her friend desired any help, not that she needed it.

She stood a moment, listening to all of the excited chatter going on around her. Even though she was looking forward to being back at Hogwarts, she was going to miss living her days at ease. The summer had been busy, but relaxing. The days of staying up too late were quickly going to be replaced with studying and classes. The weather would also soon be turning colder, making late night practice too dark and chilly to be enjoyable.

"Do you have any last stops for supplies?" She asked as she refocused her attention on the present. She had gotten in the bad habit over the summer of letting her mind wander. That would have to stop before classes started.

Mark nodded in agreement. He knows being able to Lie should be a good skill to have, and not just to lie for lying sake. Like...what if he had to lie for the better of something? So not to hurt feelings and stuff?

Hmmmm...maybe it was best not continue speaking about Quinn's Mum. Her Mum had no interest in him it really seemed as well. Of course maybe she had to keep some sort of low profile if these Truths about her and the Head Mistress are actually true. He pondered that thought for a moment. That let it pass.

"Oh well. Each Team has got 11 players on the field each so It's a massive 22 player brawl with an exploding ball and only 1 goal they're all trying to score in for their team. Sometimes the Explosions can be dangerous. Especially if you loose your eyebows, and your balance at the same time at the height they're making them fly at." From what Uncle Aegis has told him. Quodpot is 10x more dangerous than Quidditch.

"Sounds very....American..." Leave it to the Yanks to try and one up Quidditch by going ridiculous. "Have you ever play...?"

"Quinnlin." And that was the cue she pushed it a bit too long. Oh sure, it sounded nice and calm and reasonable, if you didn't know her, but this was a last warning presented nice and clean for public appearances type of tone.

Quinn frowned at Mark. "Sorry, got to go..." She got up and took a step toward the front, then stopped. "Remember, 3 for 1 if you say the secret word..." She smiled and gave him a wink before making her way down the aisle to the front.

Her mother, seeing Quinn finally coming, exited the shop ahead of Quinn. She passed the clerk at the front and stopped. The kid was, well he wasn't exactly cool, but he was alright. And he had helped her delay her mother some. She backed up and turned to the clerk, nodding discreetly in Mark's direction. Before she spoke, Quinn leaned in closer and lowered her voice. "The kid is gonna bring three magazines, but only pay for one after saying some Quodpot term...." She reached in her little unicorn purse and pulled out, remaining the epitome of discretion, a few coins. Enough for two magazines. "Here's the money for the other two." She held up a finger to her lips, smiled widely and innocently and skipped out of the store.

Okay, maybe it wasn't all about being nice. There was, she was willing to admit, the tiniest possibility that maybe, hypothetically, it was also that if she was right about the deal, just possibily, her credibility now, and in the future, might go up. And that was a lot more valuable than two magazines.

Now by the girl's reaction, Chase was getting a strong urge telling him that this young girl was not only a Quidditch fan but a HUUUUUUGE Quidditch fanatic. Huh. Well would ya look at that. Heh. "So would you say that you knew how to play Quidditch before you could walk!" he chuckled and then paused as he listened to the girl speak. "A seeker for the Torandoes? Sweeeet." Seeker was a hard position to play but perhaps a little overrated in his position. He preferred playing Keeper. That was his preference. "I've played here and there... My adopted parents didn't' know about that but I learned how to play at Hogwarts with my mates."

Speaking of Seeker, he internally cursed himself for that personal thought he had had. Whoops. He didn't want to say that... Oh well... "That makes sense. What positions do you play?"

He smiled at her friendly gesture and shook her hand. Then he bowed. Then he realized that perhaps was a little weird in her culture. "Oh.. Right..." He awkwardly smiled and then took her hand and shook it. "Yes, Chang-Woo. I'm from London but I was born in Busan, South Korea. I'm adopted and its sorta a long story..." he said. He didn't wish to bore her. "Yes, I'm actually a third year there. I've been there for three years... How about you?"

Broom polish….

Broom polish…

Where the heck was the broom polish? Ethan wandered around the shop looking half-heartedly at the shelves. In fact, Ethan was more interested in looking for food the polish. He was just a bit peeved that Cleansweep hadn’t sent him polish with the new broom he was supposed to test all week.

He sighed, reaching out and plucking up a jar of…twig cream. Ugh….he put it back on the shelf. “Seriously,” he shook his head. Twig cream was useless.

They were right when they said that one never forgets his or her first love. And for Kat, it was always going to be Quidditch.

Free of all tiny humans and work-related responsibilities, the former Slytherin decided that a quick trip down memory lane was necessary. The sport had only returned to Hogwarts last year after a ten-year ban. It was very fortunate for her that she was able to play for her team back in the day, when she was still a student. Up in her home attic, she still kept a few of her Quidditch paraphernalia. Kat didn't have the heart to toss them away.

She ran a finger along one of the broom service kits on display. She used to have one of those, Kat remembered. But her attention was ultimately diverted to a fellow customer. "Now what did that twig cream ever do to you?" Kat asked, a bit amused.

Hand still lingering on the twig cream, Ethan looked around for the voice he heard. ”Hmm?” he asked not realizing he had said spoken aloud. He picked the twig cream back up, gave it a little shake, then put it back on the shelf. ”Nothing,” He smiled. [b]”Just isn’t very useful.” And it wasn’t. If and or more importantly, your broom needed twig cream, it was pretty much beyond saving. Unless you were preserving an antique broom for display. Then it could give the broom a nice appearance. Kinda like a superficial seat cover on a muggle hot rod.

”Say you wouldn’t have happened to see the broom polish?” he asked cheerily. The sooner he found the polish, the sooner her could get home and take that Cleensweep out for a test flight.

A day out was just what Kieran needed with his family, and what better place to go than Diagon Alley. Quality Quidditch Supplies had always been a favorite of the former Quidditch chaser turned U17 coach and now that he and Muirgen had a future Quidditch star of their own, it was a good place to stop.

Two years old was just the right age to start Rhett on a toy broom, according to Kieran and, though he hadn't exactly run it by his wife just yet, he was sure Muirgen would agree. Holding the door for them to walk in first, he followed in behind them. "Let's look at the brooms first?" There were other supplies to be soon too, but brooms were always the most exciting.

No need to say that Quality Quidditch Supplies was her all time favourite shop. Yes, very cliche, but Muirgen couldn't help it! Besides, it wasn't like she could find good quality Quidditch equipment back home as easily and made with such high quality.

Their reason to be there that day was what got her super excited as well, and wanting to make sure whatever product they bought was the best of the best! "Aw, thank you, love." The redhead smiled and carried their little one into the shop as he flailed his arms. "I kno', it's lush, innit, love??" Muirgen chuckled and turned to look at Kieran when he mentioned the brooms. "Definitely! I think that's our main goal for today, right?" She said, smiling happily before looking around. "Over by there!" She added, pointing in the right direction just for the sake of it, as they were more than familiar with the shop.

"I wonder if they 'ave different makes for toy brooms as they do for real ones." Muirgen said, also wondering if she should feel silly because she didn't know much about the subject. But then again, did one even do proper research into toy brooms?? "Real ones as in, you kno'... real ones." She laughed. Well, Kieran knew what he was on about!

Second year meant she could bring her own broom, finally. And apparently, if what she'd heard, it also meant a better chance of playing Quidditch too! Hogwarts apparently had four teams. Four! One for each house, Dizzy guessed. Quidditch would be a good way for her to stand out apart from her sister. And hey, who knows, maybe it would be her thing, like dancing was Runa's!

But for that, she needed just the right broom. Which was exactly the issue. Why did they make so many brooms? How was a girl supposed to pick the right broom when there was so many? Dizzy glared annoyed at the aisles of endless of broom, as if willing them to be fewer, and...

OH! She knew how to pick the right broom! Dizzy glanced around, making sure no adult was in visible, and opened her messenger bag. It was empty, save for one pitch black kitten. "Okay, Solstice," Dizzy whispered, removing the kitten from the bag. "Find me a broom!" Afterall, Solstice was going to need to like the broom too, because he would be riding on it with her. Well, not during practice or matches, of course, but any other time.

She set the kitten down on the ground. "And go!" Solstice just sat there, licking his paws to clean himself, and the mewed and rubbed affectionately against her leg. "I love you too, but we're here for brooms and I need you to do better."

Nettie was SUPER excited to FINALLY get her own broom. She had always had to borrow one of Jimmy's old brooms for her youth league, and last year she had been forced to use the school brooms. She loved Hogwarts, but that was such a DUMB rule. Since her birthday was in September, she'd convinced her parents to let her pick out her birthday gift early - and naturally, she was going to pick a broom.

Heading straight for the displays, Nettie was suddenly overwhelmed. She'd done a ton of research to prepare for this, but now, faced with the actual prospect of picking out a broom - she was NOT READY. What if she made the wrong decision! Anxiously, she tapped her chin and her eyes flicked back and forth between the latest Nimbus model and the Firebolt. She'd been SOLD on the Nimbus but...what if she was WRONG?

Her attention was diverted, though, when she spotted a young girl nearby, probably about her age, and her cat. OOOH A CAT! She grinned and smiled at the girl. "I love your kitty!" she called out to her. Maybe she was doing this wrong. Maybe Rudy should have come with her to pick out a broom. Was that the trick to all this?!

Dizzy looked up, surveying the girl that complimented Solstice. She was either the same age as Dizzy or close to it, which meant she went to school, and being in Diagon Alley, it was a rather safe bet she went to Hogwarts, or would be going. But Dizzy was sure she detected a French accent in the girl's words. Right, says the Dutch girl attending Hogwarts. Don't be dense Dizzy.

She smiled and stood up. Solstice resumed his rubbing circled around her legs. "Thanks! His name is Solstice. Just got him today! He's supposed to be helping me pick out a broom since I'll be allowed one at Hogwarts," Dizzy glanced up at the other girl when she said the last bit, gauging her reaction, "but clearly..." She gestured down at the black kitten purring loudly at her ankles, and melted. "Awww, I can't be annoyed at you. You're too cute!"

Solstice mewed softly as Dizzy picked him up and cradled him. "I'm Dizzy, btw. Do you know anything about brooms? There's soooo many!"

"Hi Dizzy! I'm Nettie," the claw introduced herself to the new girl. Dizzy was...an interesting name, and she picked up on an accent with the girl. She couldn't decipher what it was exactly - living in a country that not only spoke a different language, but also had MANY different accents had basically screwed up her ear for picking up on that kind of stuff.

"Um, sort of...I THOUGHT I did at least. I'm getting one too! For my birthday. Now that I'm a second year I get to bring one!" she said with excitement, although it was obvious the girl already knew that since she'd mentioned it already. "I did all this reading up on it and I thought I was getting a Nimbus but now...I don't know. They all look so AWESOME!" she squeaked, admiring the sleek handle of the Firebolt. UGH. DECISIONS.

Nettie, that was a different name as well. "Nice to meet you. Is Nettie short of Henrietta or something? Dizzy's short of Alfdis," Dizzy made a face as she said her name. Sure it was a pretty enough name, and would have been right at home if she'd been Icelandic, but she was Dutch, and Alfdis was just odd outside Nordic countries. Mama had been going through a phase where she was regretting not giving her other non-Icelandic daughters Icelandic names when she named Runa and Dizzy.

Dizzy listened quietly to Nettie, who, despite her uncertainty, still knew heaps more about brooms than Dizzy herself did. "It's your birthday too? Happy birthday! Solstice here is my birthday present, and these," She pointed to the second pair of earrings she was wearing. The skin around the second stud on each ear was slightly red, as if just pierced. "Do you go to Hogwarts then? I'm transferring there for my second year." It was equally likely that Nettie was visiting London over the summer and went to school in Beauxbatons. She didn't remember seeing Nettie there, but then she also didn't know everyone in her year.

It would be nice though to start her new school knowing someone other than her own twin and her nieces.

"Okay, we just need to think about this practically, right? Obviously, your research lead you to think the Nimbus was the right choice, so let's start there!" She grabbed a nimbus off the shelf and laid it down in the aisle. "Let's see how Solstice likes sitting on it." She set her kitten down on the back of the broom, and stepped back. Solstice sat there a moment, sniffing the broom, and then hopped off. "Hmmmm. What was it that drew you to the Nimbus?"

This summer had turned out to be a roller coaster of emotions for Emmeline. The 15-year-old Gryffindor had been torn between crushing guilt, nightmares about Inferi, -- and helping plan her adoptive parents' wedding. Wedding planning was going on pretty much non-stop at home and as much as she liked helping with all the colors and stuff, she seriously needed a break. She'd convinced her parents to let her wander Diagon Alley while they did their own things somewhere else on the street and was just wondering where to go next when the normally placid pygmy puff that was perched on her shoulder jumped down and raced into Quality Quidditch Supplies!

"Luuuna," Emmeline groaned as she hurried after her pygmy puff. Of course the creature had made it inside the shop on her first try and of course the shop was too crowded for Emmeline to spot her immediately. Grumbling slightly under her breath, Emmeline pushed her way through the other shoppers -- muttering hurried apologies -- and finally spotted a bit of purple fluff on the floor heading towards two younger girls.

The Gryffindor vaguely recognized one of the girls as being a Hogwarts student, but before she could so much as say 'hi', her blue eyes fastened on the kitten sitting on a broomstick. Luna was heading right for the cat! Panic flashed across the girl's mind as she made a frantic dive for the pygmy puff, knocking plenty of merchandise off the nearest shelf as she crashed into it. Some of it was bound to hit the younger girls, but the lion had eyes only for purple fluff at the moment.

The streak of fluffy purple is what caught Dizzy's eye first, and although it was moving swiftly, it was unmistakably a pygmy puff. On instinct more than anything else, Diz reached down for Solstice just as the kitten had caught sight of the puff as well, and was starting his butt wiggle to pounce. "Oh, no you don't."

Solstice mewed in her arms, sounding more confused than anything else. "It's okay. I've got hi..."

CRASH! The girl that had been chasing after the pygmy puff had instead attempted to slide for it, and now half of the aisle was coming down around, and on top of, them. Solstice, in his panic, twisted in Dizzy's arms, dug his claws and sprang over her shoulder just the entire stock of nimbuses and a good many of the firebolts knocked her to the ground, burying her.

Then it was over. "I'm okay! I think. But, er...Solstice got loose."

SUCCESSSS!!! Although broomsticks had fallen all over her and probably both other girls, Emmeline had managed to grab onto her pygmy puff before she could scamper away again. Of course, she'd had to then shield the little creature from all the falling brooms and stuff, but at least the little fluff ball was okay. The Gryffindor had probably added some ugly bruises to her back 'cause she'd tried to take as much of the stuff as possible but bruises were pretty much normal for her. No big deal.

Except...except she had completely forgotten about the younger girls in her moment of broom-crashing panic. See, this was why she wasn't a prefect. Emmeline jumped to her feet, moved the squirming pygmy puff to her left hand, and held out her right hand to the girl who was talking to help her up.

"Oh no, oh Merlin, I'm so sorry!" she told both girls as pink traveled up her cheeks. She should've paid more attention. "I..Are you sure you're okay?" It was a few more seconds before the girl's words actually penetrated Emmeline's still half-distracted mind; she was eyeing Luna out of the corner of her eyes and watching for wiggles.

"Solstice? Oh no, your kitten?"Emmeline gasped. "Umm, okay, we'll find him. Or her? What color is he?" These last questions came out in a rush, because now the Gryffindor felt even worse for all the brooms crashing. She wouldn't forgive herself if she'd managed to hurt the cat (or either of the girls, really, but they looked okay). Her blue eyes were already darting all over the floor again as she spoke, which didn't help much 'cause it was now covered in brooms. But Emmeline knew from living with a cat herself that the kitten had probably raced away from the noise if he could. So she was trying to scan the rest of the shop from where she stood, but she had a feeling they'd need to go look properly. There were just too many people and WAY too much stuff to find a kitten if he was hiding in here without a real search.

The fact that he had woken up to an empty house had not bothered his mood whatsoever, instead he had had breakfast, dressed up and left his dad’s apartment without even wondering where the guy who was responsible for bringing him in this world might be. Exploring London had been a daily thing these days anyway.

Today however an article about Hogwarts in the daily prophet had reminded him that he still had to get his new school supplies. Going through his wallet, he made sure he had enough money for the rest of the day before making his way to the leaky cauldron and to Diagon Alley itself. An hour or so later however, he found himself in the Quidditch Shop. Because duh.

Summer had been kind to Derf thus far. Though comparing ANYTHING to nearly being torn limb from limb by a horde of inferi and THEN having to suffer OWLs would seem like bliss to a 16-year-old. Thankfully his wrists had healed well enough and promptly enough that his season with the Wales U-17 side had not been effected much.

Still starting beater. Still feeling freedom each time he mounted his broom.

Though all the additional time in the air and on his broom had depleted his broom servicing kit significantly - hence his arrival at QQS today. Though a secondary beater's bat may not be a bad idea either. Effective on the pitch and crushing inferius skulls, who knew? He still needed to finish up that chocolate frog card for Bel, now that he thought of it.

Having jumped up several inches again, the now 5'10" blonde passed behind the other bloke surveying the shelves with a gruff, but polite, excuse me as he made his way over towards the copies of Quidditch International for the time being. Just a bit of light reading before he got down to spending his galleons.

.....had that just been...a tail dipping behind the magazine display just now? Blinking, Derf clutched the magazine to his chest and pulled it a little bit further from the wall to take a peek around.

Stranger things had happened, after all.

Despite the /excuse me/, the fifteen year old remained where he was - the blonde needed to be of the female kind for his attention to waver from the bottle of polish he was examining in his hand.

But he did spare a quick glance - because of which he easily recognized the boy, follower of each U17 player and all.

"You played well in your last game" he commented idly, turning the bottle in his hand.
