Puck had been quietly sitting there taking notes and trying to be unnoticed by certain people. She was interested of course by the fact that magic was of course a key ingredient of potions because well…what if someone a witch perhaps used magic along with scientific facts and data….and the thought was gone almost as quickly as it had popped into her head.

She quietly took the books and returned to her seat, note pad out in front of her. Yes she was going to figure this potion of hers out…and maybe even today? Yeah this was going to be awesome.

“Thanks for the books Professor,” Puck grinned up at the Potions Professor she was going to use the lab for now to look up some of the ingredients…if that was alright.

OH Potions research? Kyroh's eyes widened just a bit. That would be INTERESTING. When he thought of stuff for his hug potion before he really had just written down the first things that came to his mind but of course the research did make sense.

The third year was ready to hop out of his seat and grab the books until he noticed Cutty.

Hesitating Kyroh's eyes, remained on the Slytherin until he left the room. Once he was gone Kyroh waited a little longer before finally standing up. "Thank you sir!" With a surprise HUG for the Professor, books still in hand Kyroh turned and eft the room.

Cosgrach smiled at everyone who thanked him. Yes, he felt so great about the books too. He bought them, did they know? Hehehe.

Anyways.

He walked out after the last student, feeling content.

*second meeting*

Cosgrach opened the door 15 minutes earlier and checked if there were any students. There weren't any, so he charmed two piles of books again and placed them caaaaaarefully on his desk once more. He sat down and almost disappeared behind them again.

Now, let's see who would show up today.

OOC: Sorry for one day delay, I'd been too busy. You needn't have sent me the ingredients to attend this meeting, you have until March 25 to do that.

He had felt kind of sad he had missed the first potions workshop meeting but what could he have done about it? Yeah ok he could have ...acted more in a mature fashion but honestly! He had it coming hmpf.

he entered the room and saw the professor charm two piles of books and he waited in the door way before he knew it was safe to enter. ..safe for him of course. .. "Sup? I missed the first meeting because two of your kinds" meaning professors. "literally locked me in the criminal cell down there..." he vaguely waved in a direction. "when the first one took place SO .. i can still be here right?" or else he would leave right now and do something else...he still needed to find Peeves and demand his art supplies back.

Another meeeeeting! Adi happily and excitedly made his way to the Potions Lab which had sort become his home this year. Hehe. Also, he had with him the list of ingredients for his potion which he had meticulously researched on using the two books provided by Culloden.

"Helloooo, Professor,'' the Hufflepuff greeted to the man whom he could barely see because there were more books again. "Are you tired of seeing me as yet?'' Hey, it was a legit question since Adi seemed to be bothering the man A LOT this term given the fact that Felix Felicis was currently in the brewing process.

"Heya, Kevin.'' Don't mind the fifth year taking a seat next to you.

Austin walked in happily. He had missed the first meeting, but he did come to pick up the books afterwards. He had spent hours on this. Any free time he had was going into creating this potion. Sure, he wasn't actually creating the potion, but he was still psyched about it. It had taken him a few days to get the ingredients going for the potion. That was the hard part, though. Many of the ingredients could help with the potion he wanted to make, but only certain ones would help. Hopefully he could create his potion.

"Hey professor!" Austin said happily. He made a mental note to meet with the professor more often. He was amazing when it came to potions, but he figured he could learn a lot from a true potion master.

Time for the second potion workshop meeting! Lux was looking forward to this and had already completed her ingredients list. Some of the items had been more mundane, but she was proud of herself and this was her first potion so she knew she would improve a lot over time. This was so exciting!!

"Hey, guys!" she said as she walked in and spotted two familiar faces and one she didn't know. It was always nice to meet new people. Beaming, she took a seat by Adi. "Hello, Professor!" Looked like he was hiding behind textbooks again. Giggle.

What with everything else going on at Hogwarts lately, Brooklyn had really looked forward to the workshop continuing. That and the fact the first Potions lesson had given her even more ideas as to what should go into her potion. All that was left was to find out what was going to happen during this meeting, and she’d made sure she had everything she needed in her bag. Her list was stuck inside one of the books Professor Culloden had given them in the last meeting, and she’d turned a curious glance toward the stacks of books that were on his desk yet again as she’d entered the lab. “Hello Professor Culloden,” she said, by now fairly certain he was somewhere behind those stacks.

She’d made her way toward her chosen place to sit, nowhere near worried that anyone else would take it once her greeting was finished. Nobody would dare. She’d sent a glance toward the two Hufflepuffs already in the room too. Just a glance. She still didn’t entirely trust that Hufflepuff prefect boy wouldn’t try to hug her, but at least maybe there was an understanding now.

It was time for their next little potions meeting. Benny was still searching through the two books from the last one, trying to figure out ingrediants for his potions idea. Perhaps they might get some help on the task this time around. The printed word was only so much assistance when he was sometimes shoulder deep in reading from the subject and all the others he was working on.

Getting down to the dungeons at the allotted time, Benny slipped into the potions lab with his knapsack. There were a few students already, including Adi of course. His bestie tended to be one of the early ones and potions was a strong interest of his. "Hello Professor," he greeted Culloden, the man almost invisible behind more books. The Gryffindor then offered a polite smile of greeting to the likes of Lux and Brooklyn before taking a seat on the other side of Adi. "Hey..."

Cosgrach didn't close the door again, but got up.

"Hey everyone, welcome to our second meeting. If you haven't created an ingredients list, that's fine. You still have time." Just saying that. "Today we're going to discuss the steps of potions and amounts of ingredients. It'll be a brief workshop again, so let's begin: How do you think steps and amounts are created?"

Welcome Benny.

The Benny in question kept letting the man's use of his nickname slide. It didn't seem to really bother him to be honest. It made him feel a connection to the professor in further honensty given those who usually used the name were his close friends. He simply nodded in acceptance of the greeting and watched as the man finally stood up and began the meeting. The potioner posing a question to the smaller group.

"With a good amount of research and experimentation," he answered after raising his hand. That seemed legit to him given what he himself was going though in his potion creation assignment. Well at least the research...he didn't quite think he was ready for the experimentation stage.

Where there this few students last time? He only counted a few bodies, and none he really knew off the top of his head. But Austin didn't really mind it, he liked the seclusion the smaller classes provided. Well, it wasn't really a class, but still. The atmosphere was inviting with a small amount of people.

He thought about the question. His mother never created her own potion, so it wasn't something he knew about. Which, actually, he was glad about. Sure, he was amazing at potions, but if he knew everything, he wouldn't be here right now. There wouldn't be much of a point if there weren't anything to learn. So Austin went on what he thought, based on what he knew. Even though there weren't many people, he still felt the need to raise his hand. It wasn't really about him getting called on, it was more about making sure he wasn't talking over people. "Professor, I'm going to assume that there was a lot of experimentation involved. If other potion master's notes were preserved from earlier years, current masters can use them to further experiments."

Adi grinned. Culloden knew how to joke! "I've begun to think to think so, too.'' Nah, the man wouldn't be tired of his students. Anywaaay, the Puffer watched as persons filed in. Whee was Benny? Hmmm... There he was! "Hiiii, bestie.'' Enthusiastic greeting, yes? Potions did that to him. Maybe it was because of any fumes lurking around in the room? Heh.

Adi raised his hand after a bit of thought. "Like Benny said, research. I think that's the most important aspect since we have to know about the ingredient's properties and how strong or weak they are. That leads to the calculation of the amount that should be added to the potions.'' Ehem. Did people understand that or was he being lame in wording his phrases?

As a few more people came in Lux smiled and waved at them. It was nice to see others as interested in inventing potions as she was. Hogwarts was full of amazing students and she was proud of all her friends and classmates.

After thinking about the first question for a moment, she raised her hand. "I agree that research is important. It's good to know what ingredients you are working with and how potent they are. Some are more effective when prepared a certain way. Sometimes certain spells or wand movements help create a desired effect that should be factored into the potion. Amounts are determined by calculating how much of a certain ingredient creates the desired effect." Taking out her notebook, she got ready to jot any information down.

Cosgrach smiled at his few students. He wished more had shown up, but they were probably still in the effect of the holidays.

"All of you got it right: research. Thank you Lux, for being specific. Humans are driven by curiosity, and it has served us well: we have done many researches, and many are being done still. Therefore, we know a lot about ingredients and how to mix them. Once we get the theory of ingredients in a potion right, we move onto practical: we try those amounts under strict precautions, and once we get the potion we want, congratulations." He smiled again and gestured at the two piles of books on his desk.

"Take one from each pile and read them before deciding the amount and steps. Then, prepare a recipe and owl it to me. I'll check it and in the last week of school, we'll experiment together." Sounded fun, didn't it? Hehe. "You're dismissed. As always, you can keep the books."

OOC:
1. One of the books is 'A Potion-creator's Guide to Creating a Potion: How Ingredients React With Each Other' (talks about amounts of ingredients) and the other is 'A Potion-creator's Guide to Creating a Potion: How to Mix Ingredients' (talks about steps).

2. How I come up with steps:
a. If the potion has more than one effect (eg. a flu potion: it reduces your fever, cures cough and dries up the extra mucous), I decide which effect I want to appear first, and I order the ingredients accordingly.

b. If an ingredient is rare, I use a small amount of it.

c. If most of the ingredients are mundane, I add a spell to 'make it magical'.

These steps definitely aren't to instruct how you should prepare your potion; this is just how I do it. The steps&amounts are completely up to your imagination!

3. You have until 25th of March to prepare all the recipe.

4. Cosgrach will change some of the recipe; but only because it isn't realistic for a student to get it aaaaall right, so don't feel discouraged!

5. I think that's it for now, so have fun!

Late. Late late late late late.

Toby just wasn't used to not moving as fast as usual, so it made his timing completely off and, as a result, his time management was way out of whack. The Hufflepuff skidded to a stop outside the Potions Lab and headed right in, slightly out of breath but figuring that the door being open wasn't such a bad sign.

Except Culloden was already talking in the professor-y voice and telling people what to do.

And... dismissing them.



.................. Nothing for it then. Despite the fact that he'd only just got there, Toby guessed he should just... take a copy of each book and... go. Which... was exactly what he did. Just a flying visit, apparently. See ya later, Culloden.

Sure? cool, that was his cue to sit down. He waited for the others to quiet down as well and when the Professor started the meeting with a question, Kevin just..listened. How were steps created in potions? eeeh.... Yeah, he just decided to listen to what the others had to say, he even got distracted by Toby as he entered the work shop.

He watched the Hufflepuff sit down and....Dismissed? Kevin looked back at the front, confusion written all over his face. WHAT HAD HE MISSED?! He had heard something about making a list and sending it to him...and something about books and that they could keep them though. He probably meant those books on the two piles?

Standing up from his seat, still a bit confused, the Gryffindor grabbed a book from each pile and read the covers.' a guide on how ingredients react to each other ' and 'how to mix ingredients' because this was a ...book... Kevin did look at it like it was something dirty but then shrugged his shoulders and placed them in his bag. Free stuff. Plus if it helped him becoming a great potioneer.... "Uh..bye?" he was so confused he even said bye.

Maybe he should ask someone what on earth he was supposed to do?

As Professor Culloden thanked her for being thorough, Lux couldn't help but smile. Sometimes she couldn't keep her potion geek from showing.

Notes were taken and when Toby entered late and took a seat, she watched him curiously; not really like him to be behind on things but stuff happened and all that. A moment later they were dismissed after being instructed on what to do for the next step in the invention process. Collecting the two books, Lux read the titles excitedly; this should be fun!

"Thanks, Professor! See you later!" After grabbing all her stuff, she was gone.

Look at Lady Lux getting her explanation all nice and detailed. Adi was proud of his friend. Alright. He already had his list of ingredients so his next step would be to actually come up with the recipe. Cool! This was going to be a fun task!

Adi got to his feet to collect the four books- two of each since he was grabbing them for Benny too. Culloden was being mighty generous! "Thanks for these books as well, Professor.'' They would be very useful to him even after he graduated from Hogwarts.

Now. Where was Benny?

Cosgrach walked inside the laboratory again with the letters he received from the people. There were only 6 of them, but it didn't matter - instead, it meant more safety for all. He moved the rest of the desks away in a corner and left only six of them - and they were as seperate from each other as possible. Then, he put the necessary safety spells up used to experiment with potions, and started to wait for people to show up.

OOC: Hey guys! The deadline of March 25 for your recipe submissions has passed, so only those who have PMed me can attend this meeting. Thank you for your interest!

Yay, it was time for the final meeting and Lux was excited. She hoped that the recipe she had sent Professor Culloden had been okay and not too many corrections were needed.

There were six desks left out, so that meant only five others would join them. She would bet that four of them would be Adi, Benny, Toby, and Zeke but she had no idea about the fifth. "Hello, Professor!" she said taking one of the seats near the front. She was ready to get started.

Benny had to admit that he hadn't expected to have gotten this far with the whole potions creation project. For some reason he figured he would do something wrong and pick the wrong ingrediants and find out he couldn't continue further. But alas, he had done it and made it through and they were meeting again to actually try out their work, something that he was just a tad nervous about.

But Culloden would have checked the work...right?

Not left anything that would go horribly wrong?

Regardless of what had been done between the time he had submitted his work and now, the Gryffindor fifth year made his way down to the potions laboratory. His satchel filled with his notes and potions supplies slung over his shoulder as he walked. Stepping inside, he was surprised to find himself nearly the first one there...well other than the professor that is. "Good day, Professor, " he greeted politely as he walked further inside the room to wait for Adi. The Hufflepuff his insurance of getting stuff right.

"Hey..." he greeted simply to Lux, the other person there.

IT WAS TIME! IT WAS TIME!

It was FINALLY time to bring his recipe to life, and YES, he was proud. VERY proud.

With a spring in his step, the Gryffindor entered the potions lab and made a direct dash for one of the tables closer to the front. Wow, only six of them? He was THIS good? Awesome.

"Hello Professooooor!" he beamed with a salute.

AH YIS. It was time to make some POTIOOOOOOONS. YEAH.

Toby was as bouncy and happy as ever as he entered the potions lab, practically ricocheting off the doorway in his haste to get there. It didn't even matter that his potion was no longer all that relevant to his life, and that he sort of wished he'd gone with his original idea of a BOUNCING potion. Because this was still a CHALLENGE and would be FUN and probably CHANGE THE WORLD.

"HEY GUYS!" the seventeen year old greeted those already here with the ENTHUSIASM OF A THOUSAND PUPPIES. He took the nearest free table and bounced on his toes where he stood, beaming as brightly as the sun. POTIOONNSSSSSS.

LATEEEEEE! Oh gosh, this Puffer thought he might be SUPER DUPER LATE to the meeting so as a result he had practically ran from his dorm all the way to the dungeons. The price one paid for deciding to have a bit of a snooze.

Adi skidded to a halt in front of the VERYYY familiar potions lab. It had became his home... sort of... over the year. Anyway. He was finallllly here! Pausing just a second or two to catch his breath before heading in. "Hellllllo, Professor! Hey, you lot!'' Only six of them in total? (because he noticed the desks). Heh. Adi expected more. Oh well.

The boy moved to a desk towards his bestie. "Fell asleep,'' he muttered to the Dragon. But it didn't seem like he was late as he had thought. Goody.
