As I wait for the teacher to get to me I notice Kai saying something about a Bezoar stone to the elder student. I snicker inwardly figuring that it'd be obvious that the elder student, expecially a Slytherin, would know the properties of a Bezoar. I turn back still waiting and decide to open my potions pocket-book and flip to transformations in order to see what would be useful during Animagus training.

"I want to make the potion easier on the tastebuds." Monica said, but it was way better tasting than the poison was!" She smiled at Xana.

James grinned back at Xana. He shrugged to her question.
"I think I'll be making the Draft of the Living Dead. I haven't made it before, but I think I'll manage..." he trailed off as he began chopping up roots to place in his cauldron. "What about you?" he asked, staring at her obviously complex apparatus.

Chanel grinned to herself for some apparent reason she couldn't even figure out. Sighing, she wrote in her journal about the importance of potion-making; just to pass the time. Plus; it would get her mind thinking and maybe later; she'd be able to feel like she wanted to make another potion.

Liz walks into the room, and looks around, hoping to see someone she recognizes. Unfortunately she doesn't and goes to put her bag next to the stool in the corner. Hoping she won't blow anything up she sits down, and waits for the professor to come in.

A tall dishwter blond boy with washed out gray eyes enters the lab. He walks about examining the apparatus and containers. On the teachers desk he picks up a small figure of a dragon, staring into it's tiny ruby eyes for a few seconds. Puting it down he leaves.

Chanel still doesn't see anyone that she knows; to her greatest dismay. Continuing to observe everyone around her; she notices the many different potions brewing. Chanel then attempts to take more notes on a love potion:Amortentia.

Xana grinned inwardly. What was that, this year's topic of choice? It'd be interesting to compare and contrast the effects of each person's attempt though... "Interesting. Do let me know how it goes... Have you by chance read Ambroise Paré's dissertations on bezoar studies, or the Persian writings on universal antidotes using trichobezoars?" she gently asked... the girl was young and she didn't want to discourage her, but it sounded as though this girl's experiment had already been attempted to no avail, sadly. But maybe she had a different spin on it.

"If it's not intrusive... how was he poisoning you, I mean- you say it tasted bad, how was it that you kept ingesting it?"

"Well, the alembic and entrefleuge are being used to do distillations, not potions- I'm just preparing some specialized ingredients to prepare for a later potion I'm going to work on. And the cauldron, I'll be creating some chemical bezoars- also in preparation for another potion. So, today is just a day for laying groundwork, really." she grinned. "I remember Draught of the Living Death... that's such a fun one to create! I like potions that have evident colour shifts in their stages; it's very satisfying to see the proof of your success at each stage. Is potions your forte, James?"

"Well the same way as muggles do I guess, he put it in my food and each time it was something diffrent he put it in." She said, turning to the person talking about the Bezor, I am trying to come up with something handier than a bezor that can be sold in any apothecary."

Xana smiled enigmatically. "It seems to be a theme this year... The elusive universal antidote." She paused, thinking on what Monica had said. "You said it had a bad taste. Was it a distinctive flavour, is that how you figured out what was going on?"

Truthfully, I knew that things like mashed potatoes shouldn't taste butter and salty, it was always a bitter and salty taste unless I cooked. Then I began to faint a lit and be sick." She looked at her hands and whispered, one morning I woke up and my blue eyes had turned green. They've been green ever since.

Xana looked at her, intrigued. "That's a fascinating side effect! Have you tried to have them charmed back to blue, or seen a healer about them? Or-- maybe you like them green anyway?" She looked at her eyes for a moment. "They are a pretty shade of green."

"I like them green for two reasons, they remind me to be on my guard and my great Aunt Bellatrix had green eyes.

Alexandra walked in not sure what to expect. Got to start somewhere.
I noticed Kai sitting near bye . And lucky me there is a seat near her. gotta grab it before its gone.. This sounds like fun.. Nervous at first but I'm sure I wont cause too much damage.

"Black... Of course." she tilted her head, making the connection. "You mean you're related to Bellatrix Lestrange, the historical figure? Cool!" Xana grinned.

"Yeah that would be correct." She smiled. "I never met her but I would love to you know?"

"Yes, she was notorious-- I don't know much about her other than what you read in the texts though, of course. " she lowered her voice as she started to work on the chemical bezoars,measuring her sulfur auretum carefully. "I heard a rumour that she didn't really die in the great battle, but was merely stunned... and lives to this day in Romania." She raised an eyebrow, smiling as though she knew this was likely ludicrous. "I doubt it, but..."

"Acutally, it's America." She smiled.

Xana raised an eyebrow and grinned. "The secret's safe with me."

Monica smiled. "My uncle Doesn't know that I know."

Xana tilted her head, curious. "Are you sure? Maybe that was the reason for the poisoning..." Ah, conspiracy theories are fun!

James, slightly baffled by Xana's complexity of potion-making, nodded.
"Yeah, I got an "Outstanding" on my O.W.L." he smiled. "Yeah, I heard the Draft of the Living Dead has quite drastic color changes." he nodded, as he began pouring the roots he had sliced into the cauldron; it bubble fiercely and turn a shade of magenta. He smiled at his own success.
"That potion sounds a bit complex though. But, seeing as your a seventh year, it's easy, right?" he asked Xana.

Chanel smiled. She couldn't believe she had been making potions and taking notes for this long. Looking around her; she noticed that some of her fellow Potion-makers had taken in to conversing. She sighed; it was great that they were communicating off-topic, but she didn't want to get into it too. So she continued writing essays.

"Well, what I'm doing isn't standard to seventh year at all... but it's not too terribly difficult, nonetheless." She thought back to some of the really complicated potions she'd been working on in her internship- this was a cakewalk by comparison. "Ooh, that was a great primary shift, excellent work!" she noted his magenta potion, impressed by its vibrancy.

"Yes actually I have, I love to read" She saod as she poured in the last ingredient "Oh and this is my first attempt at this type of potion.....so far so good" she gave a slight frown "It would bloody suck if I botched this.....I really hope I don't"
