| | Potions Final: First – Second Years It was 8:45, and Art had returned to the Potions Classroom after eaten a healthy breakfast. He opened the door and left it wide open, for the students who were about to take their final.
On each desk area is a Potions Card, which is flipped upside down. So no peeking! Up the front is an assortment of different ingredients. Even ingredients that aren’t even IN the potion you will be brewing. So… unfortunately, if you’ve not been studying your textbooks, you might pick up the wrong ingredient.
Art has expected you to bring your potion equipment, but if you haven’t, or if you’ve melted your cauldron during your study, there are some spares in the equipment cupboard. There’s no need to have your textbook, but there is a spare piece of parchment in front of each desk if you need to jot down notes to help.
As you walk into the classroom, Art is nodding and saying good morning to you all. ++++++++++++
As the clock ticked 9:00, Art closed the door and turned to all of the first and second year students. "Alright everyone, you may turn over your Potion Cards and get started. You have 90 minutes." And with that, Art clicked the timer on his desk which would alert the students to how much time they had to complete their potion, and sat behind his desk. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Andromeda Renzler-Denaker Gryffindor First Year | Post 1 Fluttery Pegasi Deep breaths, Haddie. Deep breaths. She made a noise like a gulp in her throat and entered the classroom. "G-good morning, Professor." Deep breaths. Deep breaths. She could do this. Professor Newton has been tutoring her all year. She could do this.
Hadley grabbed her lab coat on the way to her workstation and slowly, methodically began to set up her equipment. Amazingly her cauldron wasn't partially melted this year. That alone was a sign of improvement. All while she was setting up, Hadley's eyes kept flicking to the card. Her natural curiosity was burning within her, urging her to flip the card and peek at the instructions.
But she managed to resist.
Now that her equipment was set up, Hadley took the remainder of the time to clean her tools with Scourgify, starting with her cauldron, then her measuring cups, her mortar and pestle, her stirrers and finally the rest of the tools.
It still wasn't time to start which meant Hadley was forced to wait. And waiting meant her nerves were just continuing to build and build on her. She drummed her fingers anxiously on the workstation inches away from the card. Come on, come on, come on.
Finally Professor Newton gave the go ahead, and Hadley flipped the card over. Clean equipment? Check. She did that while getting ready for the exam. Fill cauldron with water. Hadley's eyes flicked to the ingredients. Four cups of water. She grabbed her measuring cup and "Aguamenti!" It was whispered so she wouldn't drench herself again. "Finite!" The first cup of water was poured into the cauldron followed by three more.
Check.
What next?

Azura practically skipped into the room, she was so excited about this. She LOVED potions, and she was excited to take her final and show off what she had learned. She smiled warmly at Professor Newton, as she slowed to a more moderate pace as she entered the class room. "Good Morning Professor." Azura said as she walked to her table and noticed the card face down on her desk..
She left it there of course. She didn't touch it and instead her eyes went to the potions ingredients on the table, her purple orbs scanning them to try and get an idea about what they would be making..
The minutes ticked past as she tried to figure out what they were going to make and soon it was time to start! She turned her card over and grinned a bit as she saw what potion they were going to concoct!
She first got out her equipment.. Her Cauldron, vials, measuring cups, mortar and pestle, knife, stirring stick.. She scourgified them all, before nodding at them all..
Clean Equipment.. Check..
Now.. Water. She got out her one cup measuring cup, and got out her wand and said "Aguamenti!" Water started to flow into the measuring cup, and Azura carefully measured out her water, and poured it into the Cauldon.. "Finite." She said as she was done with that for now and then put her wand down and moved up to the front to get the ingredients she needed.. She had the card with her, she didn't want to rely on memory for this, she needed to get EXACTLY what was on the card..
She carefully scooped out the various ingredients..and then headed back to her table... She separated everything out and took a breath.. All right, it was time to start. |

| ¼ of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pls This final was a piece of cake.
Well, every final for Katherine Mary Moss was a piece of cake, but this was even piece-ier. She had all it took to be a good potioneer: Attention, perfectionist tendencies, patience, memory. She memorised ALL the potions they had learnt this year. She was going to ACE this one.
She entered the laboratory and waved at her dorm mates. She was even smiling, which was very odd of her before an exam. She sat down at the front, away from people she knew (because no helping each other!!!) and impatiently counted down the minutes to the start...
...
FINALLY the professor gave them the permission to begin and she flipped over the card.
Oh.
Her face fell. Not because she didn't know the potion (psh, please!) but because every single ingredient, down to the weight, was written; as well as all the steps. WHAT exactly did this examine? Their ability to read? This wasn't even a piece of cake, this was THE cake itself. EVERYONE was going to get it right, which meant that she wouldn't shine like the North Star at the darkest moment.
Mweh.
With a disappointed look, she cleaned her tools and cauldron. Then, she lined up the ingredients according to their order in the potion. Finally, she weighed every ingredient and set aside the excess. This was, she wouldn't need to worry about getting the right amount at the right time. After all was done could she finally add 4 cups of water, a set of fairy wings and start a fire under the cauldron.
Why were they partnered up with FIRST years but not third? |

So.. It was time to get to it..
The purple eyed teen made sure everything was set before she started the fire under her cauldron and dropped the Fairy wings in.. Right.. She carefully adjusted the flame of her burner.. One click to the left... of medium.. There!
Yes! That was what she had remembered..
She carefully watched as her potion started to turn colors.. Green, then blue.. good.. good..
She watched for a few more minutes until it lightened up to the Turquoise.. Perfect!
She carefully added in the three doxy eggs and then turned up the heat just a little, one click to the RIGHT of medium.. Not too much heat for this step, she remembered that.. She wished she had her notes with her.. but this was her final! She could do this!
The potion was already changing color and she smiled happily. This was working well so far. Ahh, Yes!
Pink!
Azura wanted to squeal, but there was so many more steps, she refrained.. She could squeal when she was done..

| HOLISTIC ACTRESS {X O} EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED Melbourne was nervous, not only because it was the end of the term and finals were happening but every little thing. She was possibly going to be an older sister person to a kid that she wasn’t even related to…dear merlin how was she going to explain her familial situation now? This is my little-brother-nice…He’s adopted and I’m her sister but she’s my guardian? Because that clearly just rolled off of the tongue with such ease. Her hands were shaking but not because of the potion at all, it was more because of the fact that he might be there and she didn’t want to look foolish in front of him.
Taking a deep steadying breath the second year Gryffindor walked over to an empty workbench not far off from where Hadley was sitting. Giivng her friend a small nod she looked up at the Professor and gave him a small awkward smile but he wasn’t the person she was nervous about not in the least. “Good morning Professor” she grimaced slightly before looking at the potion on the board and grinned.
Stamina and endurance eh? That could be good for sports…the Gryffindor immediately wondered if anyone had ever used that illegally before quidditch games…Amelia would probably know considering she did study some law as well? Maybe she’d even hearda bout it with her job or Kaiden had…maybe maybe she’d need to ask him about the thing with the boy because he was a boy…he might know answers or know someone that could give her advice? Though the best best was probably asking Emmy. Emmy was the best with these things now wasn’t she?
Clearing her throat she took a seat finally and began to clean out her cauldron and scourgify every single thing she might need to use for the creation of the potion. “okay…you’ve got this Melbourne Johanson, you can do this.” She muttered to herself before pointing her wand into her cauldron “aguamenti” she cast and watched as the cauldron filled with the needed water. “Finite” she cast stopping the water from filling any further. Moving on she added in the set of fairy wings before casting “incendio” below the cauldron and setting it to hear…the potion started changing colors until it was now a shade of turquoise.
Pretty…that would be a nice right? Taking her carefully measured Doxy eggs she added them to the cauldron before turning the heat up just a tad until the concoction had changed colors from turquoise to a pink color. That was good right? Good. Moving on she added in one dragonfly thorax after another until the potion was now a red color…brilliant. There weren’t any left. Heating the potion again she waited until it changed from red to blue and moved the next batch of toasted dragonfly thoraxes closer to the cauldron. Dropping them in one by one she added the remaining thoraxes until the potion was a shimmering silver color and immediately moved on to heating the potion yet again. The color didn’t take too long this time to change from its liquid silver sheen to a beautiful ruby red. Adding in the remaining measures of doxy eggs into the concoction Mel pushed through and continued to work on her potion.
What was next again? She thought…it wasn’t staring at peoples heads nope…it was ah right. She’d just done the doxy eggs so now the untoasted thoraxes. Poor dragonflies hopefully they were all used well and nothing was left to waste? The Gryffindor added in the ten thoraxes and added heat to the potion once again watching as the potion changed from red to blue once more.
Last step.
Dropping in three flying seahorses to the mix she smiled to herself as she added heat to the potion and watched as the color changed once more. Green. She had gotten the right color…great, that was just great. She had been worried that she’d mess it up and all because her mind wouldn’t stop thinking about him and where exactly he was or what he was up to…the funny thing was he was here. Taking the exam with her it wasn’t like he wouldn’t be right? Had she seen him when she came in? She wasn’t even so sure anymore but clearly she needed to get him out of her head because otherwise she was going to fail her finals.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Andromeda Renzler-Denaker Gryffindor First Year | Post 2 Fluttery Pegasi Hadley scanned the potion card, confused. This sounded like the easiest potion ever, unless steps were missing. No grinding to a paste or stirring? Just dropping ingredients in at the right time?
Something was amiss. Or Professor Newton made sure she could ace the test.
Shrugging, Hads picked up the set of fairy wings and dropped them in. "Incendio!" A small jet of flame shot out of her wand and lit the burner. Now she just had to wait.
Seriously that was it? Hadley scanned the card again, still not sure if there were steps omitted for the purpose of the exam. It had to be right? This was too nerve-racking! If things were omitted, she was gonna fail if she followed the card. If thing weren't omitted, then she'd fail not following the card. Ugh. Mind games!
When the potion was a turquoise-ish color, she added three doxy eggs. And waited, watching as the potion slowly shifted to a pink color. Was she supposed to stir? If so how long and which way?
Oh it was pink already? Uh, cool, she guessed. She began to add the toasted dragonfly thoraxes one by one, keeping an eye on the color as she did. Was this red or dark pink? Why was potions so subjective in its instructions????
17...18...okay this was definitely red now. Would adding the last two just make it more red? Or would it damage the potion? UGH! It says add 20 but also says might not take all 20...Hadley closed her eyes tight and added the last two. Slowly, ever-so-slowly, she peeked at the potion. Still red. Oh thank Merlin.
Breathe Hadley. Breathe. Now was another waiting point; a chance to calm down a little. All too soon it was blue. Add the rest of the toasted thoraxes!? Come on, give her a break at least. And oh look, might not take all 20, again. Hadley rolled her eyes and started to add the rest one by one again. This time it took all 20 to make it a satisfactory silver.

| post 1 - first 6 steps :P YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers Walking into the Potions Final, Sky stared nervously wondering if she'd showed up at the wrong time because she didn't see any of her fellow first years there. Only second years. Checking her schedule again and then the board, she confirmed it was indeed for first and second years; just she was the first one from her class year to arrive. Finding an empty workstation, the young snakette read over her potion card as the first thing and then went to gather all her ingredients to make it easier to complete her task.
Girding potion. For increased stamina and endurance. It shouldn't be TOO complicated and there wasn't a long list of ingredients, making it even better, hopefully. First things first, clean her cauldron; "scourgify", Sky stated firmly. First step done.
Next was to fill the cauldron with four cups water; another easy-peasy step. "Aguamenti," she cast quietly, watching the water stream from her wand. Letting it flow until it seemed to be about four cups - or half way filled cauldron - Sky cast "Finite" to end the spell. Fairy wings. That was kind of weird, but made sense for stamina, because fairies always seemed to fly so effortlessly in Sky's mind, which meant adding them to a potion would surely provide that capacity in the potion...She then cast "incendio" under her cauldron to heat up her potion.
And waited. Two minutes, three minutes, four minutes .... Reading ahead to figure out how much more waiting and not realizing she missed the turquoise shade until her potion was a dark shade of blue. Oops? Hopefully it'd still be okay, as it was still within the blue family...
Adding one measure of doxy eggs, 3 eggs, Sky continued to heat and waited, this time watching more closely. Except as she'd already overheated the fairy wings step, her potion didn't just turn a gorgeous shade of pink that she knew Chloe loved, but rather a deep auburn. Should she keep going? Eh, why not? It shouldn't be bad, right? Dragonfly thoraxes. Toasted. Separating out twenty from the pile, Sky added them one at a time, waiting a second before adding another .... about 16 later, her potion was red! SEE! Auburn wasn't going to be a bad thing, after all.. right? Hopefully.
And now more heating and waiting, ... until her potion turned blue..

If she was honest Harriet was feeling a little nervous about the potions final. She had enjoyed the lessons a lot, but there was something about a final that made her nervous. They wouldn't be able to ask for help, and she was worried about that a little. But she'd been going over the notes that she had taken, an was pretty ready. She knew she could do well, so she just had to concentrate, and remember to use a timer.
She walked into the potions final, and smiled at the professor. she was excited, but nervous. She wanted to do well, but she would enjoy the final too. She did love potions after all, even if it wasn't her very best subject. But she was going to try her hardest.
Getting to her desk, she picked up the potions card and read the instructions. She wanted to be really sure of what she was doing. She reread it, and nodded. She could do this. She just needed to concentrate. Smiling, she headed over to the ingredients cupboard, and got all the ingredients she needed. She'd brought the potion card over, so that she wouldn't miss any.

Azura carefully counted out 20 toasted Dragonfly Thoraxes and she carefully started to drop them in, one by one, waiting a few seconds in between drops to carefully check the color of her potion..
16... 17... 18...
Ah! There it was, the potion was turning red. She smiled and put down the remaining thoraxes, it didn't take all 20! She then carefully turned the heat up,just by one click and watched it..Her purple eyes didn't leave the cauldron as she watched it heat up a little and soon it was changing colors, red, to purple and then.. blue!
Yesss!
All right, now for the rest of the toasted dragonfly Thoraxes..
Again Azura was slowly putting them in, dropping them in one by one in order to make sure she wasn't going to use too many..
17.. 18..19..
She paused a little, but still it wasn't turning silver.. So she dropped in the 20th one and smiled as the potion turned silver.
Yesssssss!! Again! Thank the Fwoopers.. She took a breath as she smiled down at her silver potion before turning the heat up just one more click.. "All right, back to red you go." She whispered softly to her potion as she watched it start to heat up more. |

In through the nose, out through the mouth.
Potions wasn't that hard... You're literally given the instructions!
She took a seat and looked over the ingredient filled table. At the Professor's say so, Kye turned her Potioc Card over and read through the entire thing twice. She wanted to make sure of the goal before starting the journey. Quote:
Girding Potion
Use/Effect
Increasea stamina and endurance
Ingredients
4 cups of Water
50 dragonfly thoraxes (40 toasted and 10 untoasted)
1 set of fairy wings (2 wings)
3 flying seahorses
12 doxy eggs (4 measures of 3 eggs each)
Procedure
Clean equipment
Fill cauldron with water
Add the set of fairy wings, then heat until the potion turns turquoise
Add one measure of doxy eggs (3 eggs), then heat until the potion turns pink
Add 20 toasted dragonfly thoraxes until potion turns red (might not take all 20)
Heat until the potion turns blue
Add the remaining 20 toasted dragonfly thoraxes until the potion turns silver (might not take all 20)
Heat until the potions turns red again
Add the remaining 3 measures of doxy eggs (9 eggs)
Add the 10 untoasted dragonfly thoraxes, then heat until the potion turns blue again
Add 3 flying seahorses, then heat until the potion turns green
Kye cleaned her things, even wiping her cauldron just in case. She reviewed the first instructions and went to the ingredient table. She grabbed all the things, and even an extra doxy egg just in case. Carefully, she took the ingredients back to her station in two trips. "Aguamenti!"
She measured the four cups of water, watching as the water poured into the cauldron. She tossed the fairy wings in, whispered "Incendio", and watched until the water turned blueish green. She took a breath and held her anticipation for the perfect turquoise. "Finite."
Looking at the directions again, she added three doxy eggs, and waited for it to turn pink. She always liked watching the water magically turn colors. Quote:
Add 20 toasted dragonfly thoraxes until potion turns red (might not take all 20)
Heat until the potion turns blue

Heat until the potions turns red again
Add the remaining 3 measures of doxy eggs (9 eggs)
Add the 10 untoasted dragonfly thoraxes, then heat until the potion turns blue again
Add 3 flying seahorses, then heat until the potion turns green
Kye observed her dragonfly thoraxes, making absolute sure which were which, before adding the tasted ones one by one, not wanting to overdo it. The first few showed no color change, but after about 15 it really showed darker. At 17, she stopped and waited. It was the perfect red. See? This is why you don't rush!!
At this point, Kye was feeling much more confident in herself.
She calmly plopped the next mine doxy eggs into the cauldron, not wanting to splash herself with a potion half made.
She tried not to get too excited as she added the untoasted thoraxes in. They were quite weird little things. She let the cauldron heat up again, and it went back to the blue she had seen briefly at the beginning of the task.
Eh, she liked the turquoise better... Oh well, a good grade would make her really happy!
Looking to see how much time she had left, Kye looked at her area. It was really cleaning itself up now! She put in the three flying seahorses, heated it to a solid green and turned it off. Wiping a forming bead of sweat from her brow. It was time to bottle this baby up! She wrote her name and year on the label. Quote: Kye Atwater

Hogwarts RPG Name: Andromeda Renzler-Denaker Gryffindor First Year | Post 3 Fluttery Pegasi Hadley waited patiently, checking the color of the potion periodically. When it was red again, she scooped up the remaining doxy eggs, all 9 of them, and put them into the cauldron.
So far so good, right? There was no way to be absolutely sure, but she was confident. The fact the potion was quite easy, with the only steps really being to add ingredients and heat for a while, helped immensely.
Now for the untoasted thoraxes. The joined the rest, whole, like the others. Please, please say there weren't hidden steps like crushing the thoraxes to a fine paste or something. It still made her nervous and unsure, the fact not all the instructions might be there. This was the exam after all. But she had made a choice; to follow the instructions as written, and had to stick to that.
Once the potion was blue again, Hadley added the three seahorses and then waited some more. She looked as nervous as she felt. The potion was done, and it was much too late to do it another way, and more and more she was convinced the instructions was incomplete. She was gonna fail because she followed the sparse instructions and didn't add the hidden steps, she just knew it.
Failing at potions, what else was new?
When the potion finally turned green, Hadley blew out the flame and bottled the potion. On a strip of tape she wrote her name, house and year and stuck it to the bottle. Quote: Hadley Denaker

okay. Harriet had gotten all of her ingredients now. She had double and triple checked that she had everything she needed. She was sure she had, and had headed back to her bench. Now to get started. She made sure that she had a timer, and it worked. That was the important bit. And now to get started. She was going to go slow, and concentrate, so that she knew she was doing it correctly. First she needed to clean her equipment, starting with her cauldron. Picking her wand, she pointed inside and said "Scourgify" and it worked. Perfect. She quickly made sure all of her other pieces of equipment were clean before getting on to preparing her potion. She looked over at the potions card, so to know what she had done, and what she had to do next.
Okay. So she had cleaned the equipment and now she could move onto the next step now. That was to add water. Picking up her wand again, she pointed into her cauldron and said "Aquamenti" confidently. She carefully filled her cauldron up with water, until it was at the level needed. She crossed that step out on her list, and moved onto the next step.
She carefully put the fairy wings into her potion, before setting a flame underneath it. and now she needed to wait until the potion turned a turqouise color. She put her timer on, not that she was going to get distracted, but because she wanted to check how long it took to turn turqoise, so she could right it down, and know for the next time she brewed the ptoion.
And now onto the waiting game. She watched carefully for when her potion turned turquoise.

Phew.. Azura hadn't been to worried, well okay maybe she had a little bit, but now that it was the proper color, she added in the doxy eggs, one at a time and then the untoasted dragonfly thoraxes.
She turned the heat up by just one click again, this potion needed precise heating and she had ruined her last one on this step because she had turned it up too high.
But thankfully, the potion was turning blue this time and not that yucky brown like she had gotten last time!
She dropped in the flying seahorses, turned the heat up one more click and smiled happily as it turned green..
There.. She had done it.
She scooped some out into a vial and labeled it. Quote: Azura Kennedy

Okay. So she was waiting and waiting. She hated the waiting bit of potions, but it was one of her favourite subject. So she could handle the waiting. She looked back down at her potions card, just to look at what she did next. She wanted to make sure that she wouldn't miss any steps! That was really important so that her point could be as near perfect as possible.
About five minutes later, she checked her potion and it had turned a nice turqouise color. " Yaaay!" and now she could move onto the next bit of the instructions. She looked at the instructions, and then carefully added the one measure of doxy eggs to her potion. She was careful to make sure it was only three eggs. She really did not want to do it wrong. And then she waited for the potion to turn pink. She again turned her timer on, so she could time how long it took.
She hummed a little whilst she waited for this to happen. She didn't want to get too distracted, but she also didn't want to get overly bored. Getting bored, would mean she'd probably look around, and get distracted and that would not be good at all.
It was another ten minutes and then her potion was a pinky colour. She figured that was the colour she needed. Perfect. She nodded, and went back to the potion card, so she could do the next one. Carefully she began to add the toasted dragonfly thoraxes to her potion, she was careful as she added them, so that she could see when the potion went red. She didn't want to put too many in, and make the potion wrong. "17.... 18.... 19.... and red!" She murmured with a big smile. That was perfect! She thought she was doing really well so far. Now just to not get overly confident. That would just not do. But she was happy that she was doing pretty well right now.
And now she needed to heat the potion until it turned blue. Perfect. She smiled, humming a little as she waited for her potion to turn to a lovely blue colour.

Caledon Roth The Leaky Cauldron | Post 1 Rhibear ~ Madam Solo ~ Dark Brooding Girl ~ Accio Jedi ~ Gryffinclaw ~ Just a doll Fiyero was a little nervous about his potions final. It seemed like every class, he either set something on fire or injured himself. He hoped there wouldn't be any mishaps this time, but somehow he doubted it. "Good morning, Professor Newton," he said with a polite nod as he walked into the room, trying not to let on just how nervous he was. That wouldn't be the Gryffindor thing to do!
He fidgeted a little at his station as he waited for Professor Newton to tell them to start. Come on, hurry up already! As soon as the timer clicked on, he flipped over his potions card. A potion that increases stamina and endurance? That sounded like something he could use... assuming he could brew it right. He glanced at the instructions. Okay, first things first... "clean equipment". He set out his cauldron, scales, and phials, pointing his wand at each one in turn. "Scourgify!" So far so good, at least he hadn't messed up that part! "Aguamenti," Fiyero said, carefully aiming his wand into his cauldron. When the water had reached the desired level, he stopped the spell and moved on to the next step. Add fairy wings... really? Fairy wings? He was glad his little sister wasn't here; she'd be hysterical at the thought of a fairy flying around without its wings! After dropping the wings into his cauldron, Fiyero aimed his wand at the burner. "Incendo!" He was prepared to react to out of control flames, but to his relief, there was no giant fire ball this time.
Fiyero was proud of himself for not accidentally setting his cauldron on fire again, but there wasn't time to congratulate himself now. He watched carefully as his potion started to change colors. It eventually turned a bluish-green color, but was it turquoise? He assumed that was close enough and added three doxy eggs to the mix. After a couple more minutes, the potion turned bright pink. Who knew an endurance potion would turn such a girly color?
So now what was he supposed to do? Fiyero looked at his instructions again. Right, toasted dragonfly thoraxes. He added the thoraxes to the cauldron, mentally counting them out. One tow, three, four, five... The more thoraxes he added, the more he started to get worried. Why wasn't it turning red? Had he made a mistake? ...seventeen, eighteen, nineteen... Finally after adding the final dragonfly thorax, Fiyero's potion darkened to a deep red. Cool, Gryffindor's color! Why couldn't the potion just stay red?

Her potion was heating along quite nicely. She thought that she was doing quite well. Her potion seemed to be doing all the right things, so she was pretty glad about that. She didn't want to do things badly. She wanted to be good at potions. She made a mental not to ask Grace if she could have her potions cards and revision when she got home. Maybe Grace could help tutor her a little, so she could get better at potions.
Whilst her potion was brewing she looked at her potions card, so she could work out what she was going to have to do next.
About 10 minutes later (maybe she should have turned the heat up) and her potion had turned a nice blue color. "Pretty!" She murmured with a smile, as she looked over at the instructions. "Add the toasted dragonfly things again..." She nodded, and then carefully began adding the thoraxes into the potion. She was careful to add each thorax one by one so that she would know when the potion had turned the silver colour. She counted in her head, so that she knew she wouldn't be adding too many. She didn't want to add too many and ruin her potion. "And twenty...and silver" Hattie murmured with a big smile! Perfect! It was a lovely color. She loved all of these colors. And now to heat her potion until it was red again. She liked the silver color, but red was the color she needed. She tidied up her bench a little as she waited for her potion to turn into a lovely red colour.
It took about 10 mintues but then she had a red potion. "Perfect" She glanced at the instructions, before working out what to do next. "Doxy eggs!" Smiling, she carefully added the 3 remaining sets of Doxy eggs to her potion. She was careful count each egg, so that she knew she was doing it correctly. She didn't want to get anything wrong, especially when she felt that she was doing really well.
Crossing that out on her potions card, she went on to the next instruction. She added the remaining 10 untoasted thoraxes into her potion, and carefully began heating it up again, until it had turned to a nice blue colour. She really liked this colour to be honest. It was pretty. Shame it couldn't say like that. Maybe she'd do a drawing with this colour though.
And yay. She was done to the last bit of the potion. Carefully she added the three flying seahorses to her potion, and then allowed it to heat up until it was the nice green colour. Green wasn't as nice as blue, but it was okay. To be honest it was not greeny green, but it seemed green, and she figured that was good enough. She was happy.
Happy that she had done a good job, Hattie pulled some of her potion into a vial, before cleaning all her mess up. She labelled her potion popped it onto the professor's desk and then left. Quote: Harriet Paton

But for those still completing their potions, he gently said "twenty minutes left," and went back to silence. OOC: 24 hours left everyone! There's still time to get started if you haven't already, and you CAN just give me one mega post. Your grade will not be affected.

| Post two: finishing up :) YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers Sky had been steadily focused on saving her potion and watching it carefully after a brief overheating with the fairy wings, she wasn't about to overdo any of the other steps...and there it was, a navy blue shade her potion turned.
Adding the remaining toasted dragonfly thoraxes, which she was counting until she heard the professor speak up and give them a twenty minute warning to which she promptly just added the rest of the twenty in one shot (only about five or six). Blowing gently on her potion, she smiled at the ripples on the surface and watched it... Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. It was the name of the game here! And there it was ... The reddish shade returned!
Promptly, Sky added three more measures of doxy eggs, or 9 eggs, and then immediately followed it with the pile of 10 untoasted dragonfly thoraxes which seemed to like giving the potion a blue hue. Waiting and watching it on the heat again, she smiled as the hue became blue from the red ... It almost looked like blue and red swirled together in an ice cream twist cone.
She had to be almost done by now cause she'd used most of her ingredients ... But there was one left. Double checking the instructions, Sky added the three flying seahorses, as she left it on the heat one last time ... Waiting for it to turn that shade that was on her crest on her robes and all over her dormitory.
Five minutes later, her potion changed slowly from the blue-red swirl to more blue to ... Greener ... It wasn't quite GREEN but it was definitely a shade of blue-green. Giving it another minute or two, the blue faded out a bit more and it became more green.
Content she ladled some into a vial for the professor to test out and check over, setting on his work table with the rest, making sure to label hers appropriately: Skylar N Diggory

Slytherin
She then returned to her work area to clean it up for the next student testing; plus she didn't want to get points off for not cleaning up after herself! Nodding politely to the professor when she was finished cleaning up, she smiled slightly and then left. She survived her first potions final...

"Good work," he said, adding her vial to the other samples, which would be marked soon. With a look at the clock he saw there was not much time to go. "Five minutes left," he said quietly, so as not to break too much concentration. OOC: Four hours left

Hogwarts RPG Name: Tenacius "Ace" Salander Graduated x12 x12
| Ability is nothing without Opportunity | | Creativity is Intelligence having FUN So its time to cook! And what recipe will they be doing today?
Tenacius flipped the card over and gazed at the instructions. Well now heres something that he could find pretty darn interesting and useful. Like what boy would turn down the chance to have some extra endurance and stamina on a swig eh?
As he read the instructions he realized that there were some prepping involved. He busied himself with the dragonfly thoraxes, carefully selecting 50 of the freshest pieces-- or at least as fresh as the supply made them available. He set aside 10 of these then lay the remaining on a metal plate for toasting. Mmmmmm this actually smell pretty yummy.
When the dragon thoraxes were nice and toasty he set them aside to cool, then selected 12 doxy eggs. These he had to pick carefully as well, since eggs of any kind can be notoriously sketchy. He examined each egg until he had 12 pretty pearly things, then proceeded to set them next to his dragonfly thoraxes supply.
He grabbed his copper, self stirring pot-- because heat distribution plus efficient equipment is something that no self respecting chef should do without-- and made a quick scourgify into it, just to make sure its nice and clean. He scourgified the measuring cup too, before aquamenti-ing 4 cups water into the pot.
He looked at his card again. So first ingredient was the fairy wings. He selected a set-- after carefully selection of course-- and dropped them into the water filled pot. A flick of incendio and he got a nice heat source going, watching the flame lick the copper surface and observe the subtle reddening of the copper cauldron heating up.
It wasn’t long before the fairy wings soup has turned turquoise, and the soon to be Master Chef knew it was time for the doxy eggs. He cranked down the heat before carefully adding 3 eggs, one at a time, making sure it doesn’t splash carelessly about. When the eggs were in, the Curly Top cranks up the heat again, watching the cool colored mixture turn into an exciting shade of pink.
Now it was time for the dragonfly thoraxes, the ones he prepped from earlier. Again he lowered the heat as he took the metal plate, then counted the toasted ingredient, dropping them one at a time as he observed the pinkness starting to deepen and deepen and deepen some more. He was at his twentieth toasted dragonfly thorax when he decided-- yeah that was plenty red enough. Crank up the heat now? You betcha.
He was tapping the metal plate to the beat of a Wrock song in his head, watching the vibrant red solution slowly turn blue. Gryffindor colors turning into Ravenclaw colors. Heh it was like this potion was made for him.
So now that the solution was pretty Claw-ish, he lessened the heat again. He then started adding the rest of the toasted dragonfly thorax, one at a time, counting counting counting-- oh it looks like the mixture was turning silver faster than he could finish adding the rest of the toasted ingredient. He was only about halfway through. Should he stop? He paused for a moment and watched to see if the color would stabilize... Eh it looked a liiiiitle bit blue-ish tint. Pop in one or two more toasty things... Yep now its perfect.
And crank up the heat he goes again, the silvery stew now turning into a more vibrant shade of red. Back to the Gryffindor colors again awwyeah. But it was time for the rest of the doxy eggs to be added in, so the leonine lad lowered the heat again before adding in the rest of his pearly ingredient, again one at a time and carefully. This stew is hot stuff now. And getting crowded.
When the eggs have been added in, he took the dragonfly thoraxes that he had set aside earlier and added them in, then cranked up the heat again. Once again, Gryffindor colors gave way to Ravenclaw shade. And then he lowered the heat again.
Because now it was time to add the three flying seahorses, and he dropped the fragile ingredient carefully into the stew. Up goes the heat again and now the blue Claw colors gives way to Slythie green.
Well well, now heres a potion even is dad could be proud off.
He slowly turned down the heat until the color has stabilized and it was safe to turn off the heat. While that cooled Tenacius started to label the vials with his credentials... Quote:
Name: Tenacius Astor Salander
Year: 2nd
House: Gryffindor
Potion: Girding Potion.
......then carefully ladled the potion into the vials.
He lined them vials up all in a row for the Professor’s inspection and submission, the nice green solution sitting happily inside them. |

| HOLISTIC ACTRESS {X O} EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED Melbourne Annika Johanson had successfully (she hoped) finished her second potions final of all time. There was something rather alarming about that – the simple undisputed fact that she was in fact that much closer to being free. Well, as free as you can be on summer…especially when summer came with new rules. So many rules.
Taking out her quill Melbourne labeled her potions and transferred her potion into the vials. With the vials labeled and ready the second year turned them in and returned to her workstation to finish cleaning…well, cleaning and contemplating exactly what summer would bring with it. Quote:
