And once again, you enter the dank, dark cave that is the Hogwarts potions classroom... but something has changed. Unlike the environment of the previous class, which was characterized by a clash of noxious odors, this time the classroom is filled with...
THE BEST. SMELLS. EVER.
Though the room is still cast in the typical gloom from the flickering candle wall sconces, unlike during the last class this time the air smells sweet, with notes of chocolate, vanilla, fresh coffee, light florals and fresh breezes, newly cut grass... A thousand lovely scents all harmoniously combining to create a symphony of sweet smells. Small flames are burning under a series of cauldrons simmering at the back of the room, and there are the typical rows of workstations with two stools at each station.
A thousand and three jars, canisters, and containers of potions ingredients line the shelves along the walls, gleaming dully in the low light. Each is labelled in the Professor's shaky old man's script, and at the back of the room are shelves groaning under the weight of huge potions encyclopedias and texts.
At the front of the classroom, a large charmed chalkboard stands. On it are written these simple instructions:

Please be seated. The professor will be here momentarily. Be certain that you have all your potions equipment with you; failure to do so may cost your House points. If you are an older student who is familiar with Potions you may set up your workstation. Class Synopsis:
The class began with a discussion on Love Potions- the theory behind them and their classification.
Then, the students discussed probable ingredients in love potions based on their knowledge of potion ingredients; this lead to the lab assignment, in which the students were to partner with a person of the opposite gender and brew a basic Class XX love potion.
The students received instruction on how to remove infused oils from their pre-treated lovage seeds, and were instructed to work in pairs to complete this task.
Next, the students were instructed to add a single drop of swan blood to the potion, bottled a draught, and sample each other's work. Ah... Love!
Shumeeta put a hand in the air. "Sir, could Jobberknoll feathers be of use?" she asked. "They have an effect upon the memory and love potions tend to modify that. Make people...... forget things. Like how they aren't in love with the person the potion makes them 'fall' for. Or how they might be in love with another person." She shook her head at the last thought.

Josh was wandering in the world of fantasies the more he smelled the tasty air inside till he shivered at the idea of being madly in love with a giant squid. This love potions were the greatest evidence that girls had the potantial of being evil! Evil girls. If this was the smell of a love potion which was quite of high possbility since the topic of the class was that, he could not imagine what the effects of an actual potion would be. If the smell was taking him away like that then it meant he really should avoid the potion itself. The idea of being a target scared him since he would definitely do the maddest things a humanbeing was capable of with that effect. Therefore he sat straight to understand the information about love potions much more carefully which would definitely help with defending against it.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. But I haven't seen anyone or read anywhere that they have been using a Love Potion for medication.
Also, before we know it, people will start to use Hate Potions, which is just as evil."
As for the new question... Once more, Miranda raised her hand. "Sir, could parts of a Billywig be used? Since it's sting can cause giddiness and well, you are pretty out of it and happy with a Love Potion. To a point..." she mumbled. "Is it possible that the same ingredients to make an Elixir to Induce Euphoria is also used for a love potion? That is, if you do not include the Peppermint." Errr, right?
"It is selfish, absolutely. But whether it is evil, is another matter altogether, although I suppose what is evil is an extremely subjective matter." Kazimeriz added Miranda's suggestion to the board. "Billywig, absolutely. For that feelin of being lighter than air, on cloud nine- again going to euphoria."

"I have seen a few jobberknoll feather-infused love potions in my time, though the general consensus is that they can often cause unpredictable results in the consumer -- affecting the memory is a delicate process, and jobberknoll feathers stewed overlong can actually make the consumer forget that they had love feelings to begin with. "I would like you all to attempt to pair up, preferably one boy and one girl at each station. This will be a fairly pleasant lesson, I should suspect. I ask that you do NOT pair up with anyone who you suspect is currently enamored with you-- if anyone spots a known 'couple' pairing up, please alert me and we shall make them regret the choice. You will work in pairs to create a standard Class XX level love potion. The basic formula is on the board:"

"Working on love potions with partners?" Carter thought. "That could be awkward." He looked around wondering who to work with on this. He didn't suspect anyone to be, what was the phrase... currently enamored with him. So picking a partner shouldn't be the hard part.

LouAnn was relieved to hear that they were being allowed to work in pairs for this activity. Almost an entire school year had passed since she'd enrolled in Hogwarts, but LouAnn was still just a tiny bit unsure about herself when it came to classwork and homework. She was also a little more sure of herself when it came to approaching others and asking if they'd like to be her partner. Before now, she was always too nervous that they'd see how far behind she'd become and would turn her down in favor of someone else.
Not anymore, though. LouAnn was confident and ready to ask...hmm...Copernicus Kettleburn! The seventh year was bound to be a good choice to brew with. She edged closed to him, a smile on her face, and greeted him with a friendly, "Hey, Cope! Would ya like to partner with me?"

"Let's not do that zap thing again, okay?" He murmured as he packed up his station. When Louann appeared at his shoulder, Copernicus was almost relieved. He was sure she wasn't secretly enamored with him, so she was a safe partner.
"Thanks, Louann." He shifted his belongings to her lab table.

Cela put her hand down and sulked in an obvious sort of way. Bottom lip jutting out and everything. She hugged her book to her chest and stared at Professor Kazimeriz accusingly.
There better be LOTS of antidote lying around!
All she could do was hope she'd end up working with someone cute and someone that didn't crush on her. Siiiiigh. That would make it hard to find a partner.

Wanna work with me?" she asked, cheerfully, shifting her weight around so she'd be able to support her stuff. When he started moving his own belongings over to her lab table, she took a few moments to move her own things over so he'd have more room.
"For...for the record, I don't know how well I do with Potions," she admitted, a teeny tiny blush creeping up on her cheeks. "I've come far since Mum and Dad enrolled me, but...we didn't do a whole lot of this stuff in home-schooling. Don't worry, though...I can follow directions well." She didn't want him to think she'd be an absolute useless partner, but at the same time, she didn't want him to expect Severus Snape either.

"Potions really isn't too hard, especially if you have anything you do that requires following directions, like cooking or even knitting. You just have to be methodical and check... and recheck your work."
His eyes strayed to sulky!Celandine before he returned to their cauldron. In went the purified water, rather than water from his wand. "Just a thought, but when you're crushing the fluxweed with your mortar and pestle, I suggest rotating the pestle in a circle rather than pounding up and down. The crushing is more even that way."

Emily hated the fact that she was a clumsy first year at the moment, small and unknown, honestly no one wanted to be partners... she was annoyed too, so she started getting her potion ingrediants out and putting them in the order they (if she ever got a partner) would need them.

As LouAnn gathered both bunches of fluxweed, she listened to Cope share a bit of advice on successfully making potions. "Hmm...well, I've helped Mum with a little of her cooking, so I guess I'm not as bad off as I thought I was. I did alright with that," she commented. Using the mortar and pestle, LouAnn took Cope's advice and crushed the fluxweed by rotating the pestle. "Make it more even, hmm? Thanks for the tip," she remarked. She worked silently for a bit and only glanced up when the last bit was well-crushed.
She carefully added it to the water then replaced the mortar and pestle. "Mmkay, so it should come to a brisk boil shortly, I suppose. Then we need...lovage pollen," she stated, glancing around their work area.
Emily looked around, she didn't have any friends in this class "would anyone like to be my partner?" she asked the general class

"I didn't nuhhh-notice when it happened," the boy shrugged, as though this didn't bother him. Scrunching his nose up and adjusting his glasses, Jake glanced at the ingredient things. Wait...
"What were we meant to be doing?" he whispered to the girl, blinking as hehe tried to remember. Silly attention span.

Reese was on about to go ask Jack to be her partner until Kazi mentioned they couldn't pair up with someone that you like. Oh, boooo. Pouting, she looked over at Torin. "You want to be partners?" She asked him. He would be a good partner, right? Kane had created this potion before, so at least he had an idea of what to do.

"Erm, sure, if thats what you want, I'm Fred by the way." He secretly wondered if this young girl was crazy or she really did have the strength to crush the fluxweed but that was neither here no there cause if she couldn't he would when he was doune with the water. Fred poured 4 ounces of water into his couldron and did a quick spell to safely light a small fire beneath it so the water could warm to a boil.
