One area of the owlery is roped off for those people caring for and visiting their owls (or the school owls, if you don't have your own). An open bag of Owl Treats sits near a perch, as well as some talon clippers and a few bowls of water.

Ooooh right he met her at the swimming dock, she helped him with his homework. He wondered how she knew his name. He smiled and said, "Hey Cassia."
Then he noticed she was awestruck by his owl. He grinned and said, "You can pet her if you want. She won't bite." He heard her talking about how mean her owl was. Awww *frown* That stinks. He didn't like animals being mean to their owners. Especially kind girls like Cassia. " I am sure your owl loves you deep deep down. Did she have a post traumatic past?" He was curious why her owl was acting like that.
"Charlene here can be a bit stubborn but that is only on her bad days. Sometimes they come and go. But today is her good day i can feel it. You won't get hurt if you pet her." he assured her.
He also wanted to tell her something else. OH right about the class work they did. "But thanks again for helping me with Astronomy. I owe you BIG time." he told her.
Cassia's eyes were still glued on the friendly owl which Kace was patting. The owl seemed to be enjoying the affection, was it because she was female? While hers was a male. That's one theory. The snake took a step closer to both the firstie and the owl and reached out for her. She hesitated for a couple of seconds before her fingers grazed the feathers on the owl's head. Smiling despite herself, Cassia turned her gaze back to Kace and said, "Your owl is really friendly." Hearing what he said about her owl, the blond chuckled amused. "I appreciate that but my owl is really evil. I don't think he likes anyone," Let alone love. But the little kid was nice enough to think so. Let's not ruin his pure perspective of this world. "I still hope we get to a middle ground, though," Like for example stop being scratched and bitten? That'd be a good thing.
She considered the question for a moment, "It's a he," She corrected then added. "I don't remember the shopkeeper mentioning anything when I bought him," But then again the man probably wanted to get rid of the owl. She couldn't blame him on bit.
"Well, I'm glad I wasn't here in her bad days," She commented grinning. She's seen bad owls' days enough. And speaking of, a hoot caught the fourth-year's attention. Not surprisingly it was the evil pet of hers. She retrieved the treats she'd brought and lay them away at a safe distance. She didn't fancy a bite or a scratch today thank you very much.
"Oh, no worries. I was glad I could help you," She smiled warmly at the boy.

Kace smiled when Cassia was hesitant about petting Charlene. He understood why she was but he was happy that Cassia was facing her fear of petting owls. He smiled when she said Charlene was friendly. "Yeah she is. She is only friendly when she wants to be." he joked with her.
He frowned. "Aww i am sorry your owl doesn't like anyone. Maybe he needs more socialization?" Kace offered a helpful suggestion. But if it didn't work then maybe he liked being alone. Nothing wrong with that. Kace noticed Cassia had treats and Kace had some in his bag. He did the same thing as her and put some treats near Charlene. "Here you go girl." he offered. Charlene turned to him and lifted her feathers and butt and moved toward the treats and ate them. He was glad he brought them.
"Yeah i am glad you helped me too. I mean astronomy is not really my strongest but i do enjoy it very much." he smiled widely. It was one of his favorite subjects and he asked Cassia, "Which subject at Hogwarts is one of your favorites?"

At first her fingers barely brushed the owl's head but then when she saw that this particular owl -unlike hers- didn't mind being petted, she grew more confident and let her hand wander off to pet the owl's wings and back. It did feel good. She of course couldn't remember when she last, if ever, pet her own owl. Well, he didn't know what he was missing out on. His loss.
"I don't think my owl is a people owl," You know, like a people person? Geddit? "I'm ok with it now," She said shrugging her shoulders. She might have been upset when she was younger that she ended up with this unfriendly owl. But now she just wanted to get rid of it. Though she wasn't going to say that. Whenever she did, people would look at her like she was some evil person. They didn't know how much it sucked having this owl that attacked viciously. Cassia watched how Kace offered the treat to his friendly owl. It brought a smile on her face.
"You were doing pretty good and learned fast," She said to him. When she was a first year she was worse than him. "I guess my favorite are Transfiguration and Care of Magical creatures," She couldn't really decide which was her best. "What about you? Do you have a favorite subject?" She asked him. "When I was a first year, I changed my mind a lot till I decided." And sometimes she changed her mind from day to day.

Kace was glad Cassia was alright with her owl not being a people's person owl. Some Owl's just like being by their lonesome, nothing wrong with that. He then noticed Cassia was watching him feeding treats to Charlene. He smiled to her when he noticed her smiling.
He smiled at her comment she gave him on Astronomy. Then she asked him about his favorite subjects. He had to think about that one. He then told her the answer...."My favorite so far is Astronomy since i love studying about the stars and i am also liking Care of Magical Creatures." They are interesting and are not TOO hard so far. He shrugged and then turned his focus back to Charlene.
After focusing on Charlene, he wanted to ask Cassia this..."What was your first year like at Hogwarts?" he knew it was random but he wanted to know.

The fourth-year looked up searching for her owl while Kace fed his owl and considered the question. "That's interesting," she responded. She somehow found it like that seeing that a first-year liked Astro. But then again not all kids were like her. "Professor Flamsteed makes it fun," She said. Maybe if Flamsteed was teaching it when Cassia was a firstie she'd have liked it more back then. "We have a common favorite subject then," She grinned at him. " I really like learning about different creatures. I'd like to ride a Hippogriff one time," She told him with a beam. That was one of her dreams.
Her first year? The corners of her lips turned up in an amused smile remembering. " I was pretty lost," She said chuckling gazing off as if describing a picture, "But it was very fun, getting to know the place," She added. "However, the greatest part was meeting all my current friends," She said remembering that she had met most of her friend during her first year. Though she didn't bond with some till her second year.
Looking back into Kace's eyes she asked, "How's your first year so far?" More than half the year have passed. "Any unpleasant memories?" Some older students liked to be mean to firsties. Or they just couldn't tolerate them. The snake had learned that firsthand. Never seemed to affect her though. Except making her form an idea about the older ones. Nope, she was never going to be like them. She always treats people the way they treat her.

Kace agreed with Professor Flamsteed made it fun. "Yeah...Flamsteed is really fun. I love the way he teaches. I remember the time i danced in front of his class. That was fun times. Plus he is not critical and always helps students and is really funny." he told Cassia. Not that she didn't already know that but he loved giving compliments to teachers. They make up half the school anyways.
He heard Cassia loved Care of Magical Creatures too! That was cool to know. "Oh no way. I would love to ride a hippogriff one day too! It would be soo cool to see the sky from a birds eye view." he joked with a wink on the last bit. Hopefully she caught that. Maybe not? Ah well...he tried.
Kace heard Cassia talking about her first year. He listened intently. "Don't worry i was pretty lost too. I couldn't even find the Divination Room or Charms classroom till now really." he admitted. "I mean i have gotten better and i know some shortcuts but it will take some time." Then she talked about meeting her friends and he smiled. "Yeah i did meet a lot of new people and especially being on quidditch help with that task too." he grinned. "But i know some people i have met so far we will have great bonds." He was talking about Marigold and Awarlesta but he didn't know if Cassia knew that so he wouldn't mention them.
Cassia asked how his first year was going. "Ummm...it went by TOO fast. I was having a lot of fun meeting people, exploring the castle, going to lessons and learning about magic. It was a lot to take in but i love every minute of being here." he said honestly. "I do not know if i even wanna go back home soon. I will miss it here terribly because i love using magic to help out with my daily things like....finding lost items like socks!"
Then she asked about unpleasant memories. Hmm....he couldn't think of anything besides dealing with the dementors at fright fest. "Well....i have one memory of dealing with the dementors at fright fest. That wasn't fun at all...." he trailed off starring at the window. He was going back to the time when the dementors drained him of happiness and he did not like the feeling. He shook his head and mumbled, "Sorry i got lost in my thoughts." I mean could you blame him. Dementors were scary creatures.

Nodding to Kace's words, Cassia couldn't hide the smile that spread on her face. He really was a smart boy. She couldn't form such comprehensive opinions on professor or subjects when she was a first-year. Ehh..no need to tell that to anyone though. "I couldn't agree more," She responded. And wasn't he cool agreeing on the Hippogriff thing, "Exactly!" She said clapping her hands together. She couldn't have worded better. Returning the wink she commented, "Double bird eye there," She did get it you know.
IT was good to know that firsties now a days still got lost. She was starting to think she was the only one with a not so bright history. "It is a very big castle," She chimed in. "Also, the stairs are tricky. Like suddenly moving and putting you on the wrong track," She had a lot of experience in that department you know. Oh and he played Quidditch, "That's so cool. Being on the Quidditch team I mean," She grinned at the badger. "Most of my friends play Quidditch," She told him. "Though I'm not a sports person," She cheered and attended games though.
"That's good. Because good times fly by," She said knowingly. "But didn't you miss your family?" She wondered. She knew she did back then. Still does but differently. "I know right! Magic is so helpful." At least she had her parents to do magic for her when needed. Though she couldn't wait to be able to do it all by herself.
The blond frowned seeing that the encounter with Dementors has affected the little one. She wasn't near the seating area when this happened. Fortunately, she wasn't keen on experiencing that feeling. "I'm sorry you had to go through that," She said apologetically.

Kace was glad she got the joke. He winked back at her and chuckled. He even agreed the castle was huge. "I KNOW. The castle is like gigantic. I mean i didn't even know the secret passages existed till i actually went through one and ended up on the wrong side of the castle. Which is why i explored the castle myself. So i could avoid getting lost." Then he heard her talking about the stairs. He remembered a funny memory that happened when he was on the stairs. "Well actually on the stairs, when i first got onto them, i fell flat on my butt because i didn't expect them to move." he grinned sheepishly to Cassia. "So i have my embarrassing moments with those stairs."
Then she mentioned she wasn't a sports person. Well not everyone liked sports or weren't that coordinated. That was understandable. "Awww well do you do anything else besides sports? What are your hobbies?" he asked being interested in her life.
The snake asked if he missed his family. He nodded. "Yeah i do miss my family but i try not to get TOO homesick. I know i go home during the big holidays and i am home and then my mom bugs me so much i can't wait to go back here." he smiled towards her. "Magic is so helpful, i mean my mom can do the magic in the house. My dad on the other hand can't." he shrugged. He didn't mind talking about his family.
He gave her a smile of thanks when she consoled him about the dementors. "Hey better i experienced that at the castle than being alone in the muggle world." He was being optimistic at least.

See it wasn't even questionable that the castle was huge. Getting lost wasn't something to be ashamed of, totally normal. Cassia bet if Professors had to go around to all classes, like students did, they'd get lost too. Ghosts were probably the only ones who knew the castle by heart. It also happens that they can go through walls and all that. "Nothing to be embarrassed of." She assured the kid.
Her hobbies. Funny how living in the castles she barely hears this word. Or maybe she used to but not anymore? Kace was giving Cassia huge nostalgia. She somehow forgot how much fun she had in recent years. How she missed being that clueless girl. Though she used to complain at some points. "I like drawing," She told him with a smile. "Not a very fancy artist but I'm fine," She shrugged. Her inspiration mostly came from her aunt. Her aunt was the artist for sure. "What do you like to do? Besides Quidditch I mean," She asked curiously. Did he like reading? She'd be surprised if he did.
"That's awesome." She told him referring to his understanding and his ability to control his homesickness. She wasn't capable of that in her first year. "And you can also owl your siblings, family and friends back at home," She suggested. She used to do that. Though certain people she had owl'd never owl'd back or stopped after once or twice. She had learnt to stop caring. Very handy thing.
Wasn't this boy cool and mature for his age? He sure was. Cassia nodded in awe at him, "Exactly. It's great that you can see the bright side of this," This way, he can prevail over whatever encounters him in this life. And he was still eleven. Wow!

Kace smiled back when she said it wasn't embarrassing getting lost in Hogwarts. Probably everyone has embarrassing moments in this castle at least one or twice. He was liking Cassia a lot more. She was really nice to him being a first year and all.
When he asked her about her hobbies, he smiled and said, "I would love to look at your artwork sometime." He sure would. He even mentioned..."I have famous doodles i do in potions class in my notebook if u ever wanna look." he winked at her. He loved joking around it always made people laugh and such. He loved making people happy. Then she asked about his hobbies. Hmm...he had to think about that one. He really had NO idea. She said besides playing sports. So he had to think of other things. He cleared his throat and said, "Well...ergh..i like to doodle like i said for fun!" he smiled. "Umm...i like to sometimes read when i have the time and also watching TV!" he beamed at the last bit.
When she mentioned owling his siblings back at home, he nodded, "I have already sent OWLS to my family but not my friends because it would be weird having an owl going into their muggle classroom. I have done that once by accident. His mother wasn't too fond of it..." he trailed off and grinned sheepishly. But he chuckled at the memory too because it was quite funny.
Cassia mentioned Kace always seeing the bright side of things, he smiled and nodded. "I always try to at least." he shrugged like it was no big deal. She seemed impressed and he basked in the moment while it lasted.
Asher entered the Owlery to collect an owl feather for his Gandr. He thought it would look nice and he had always loved owls. Wanting to present an offering for the feather, Asher grabbed a few owl treats and a bowl of water.
Approaching a kind looking owl, Asher politely asked, "May I take one of your feathers to put on my Gandr?" As he asked, he offered the treats and water. Sensing the owl was okay with his request, he reached out and gently took a loose feather from the snowy owls wing.
"Thank you very much" he said as he walked over to the edge of the room. He pulled out some black silk ribbon and began wrapping the end of his Gandr with it. Towards the end, he attached the feather, then secured it with the rest of the black silk ribbon.
"That should do it. I'm quite pleased with my work."

Cassia rarely showed her doodles and whatever she drew to people. Though she'd promised Bliss she would and Blue surely saw some. So she didn't mind, "I'd love tot show you," She told the boy with a smile. Hearing what he said next, made her giggle, "I'd love to take a look at those," She said, "And between you and me, a lot of whatever I draw happens to be in classes," Talk about corrupting youngsters. Eeeeh. Let the Ravenclaws lecture the boy about studying and paying attention and all, she wasn't doing that. She hated lecturing and wouldn't do it unless she wanted to annoy someone. Mhhmm.
He liked to READ! Cassia was in awe, "That is very interesting," she commented impressed. And TV. A couple pf years earlier it would've taken her sometime to register what did that mean. But having one of her besties being a muggleborn she was better in that department. "Cool. WE don't have this at home," Because her family was pureblood and they never were used to it, " But one of my friends has it and I watched it when I was at her place," She said.
Oh, his friends were muggleborns. Then owls weren't really an option there, huh. "Maybe you could owl them to your mum and she could deliver them to your friends?" Just a suggestion. "Well, people learn from their mistakes right?!" No need for the boy to feel bad about what had happened.
The snake glanced at her watch and frowned seeing that they've been here for a while. She looked up and sighed since her owl never got near. Well, she wasn't that sad about it. "I think it's getting late," She told Kace. "We should get going," She said motioning to the exit. Maybe she'd walk with him until he got to his common room. Or near it. She had to walk to the dungeons. It took time.

Kace giggled when Cassia mentioned she doodled mostly in class. "Yeah i do that too in fact it helps me pay attention sometimes." he told her honestly. "I am not well at listening to lectures that much." He had a short attention span. He couldn't help it.
OOH so she was a wizard. She wasn't raised in a muggle family. Kace had to remember that. "But at least you experienced what watching TV was like." he said to Cassia. "Did you like seeing it for the first time?" he asked her curiously. He took Cassia's suggestion to heart and would use it. Maybe his mom could send them to his friends. Well she did after the incident. He did learn from his mistakes.
Kace looked at the sky and noticed it was kind of late. He nodded and said, "Alright let's go. I have to go to the Kitchens and i know the slytherins go to the dungeons." It would take them some time to get back. "Do you wanna walk back with me to the castle?" he asked politely.
"Salazar, don't be a jerk." Ariana said to her owl as she picked him up and he opened his wings and flapped them at her " i've been really bust im sorry." damn bird had issues really. She offered him an owl treat in her free hand "here, for being so patie-" o.O the bird snapped at her mid word almost taking a finger off "What the hell Sal?" geeze was the cruddy bird that upset with her? She sat down on the floor not minding dirty ground and decided she was going to stay for a while with him before sending him off. " i'm really sorry i am it's just you'd never believe what has be-.... im talking to a bird." and she pulled one of her boyfriends famous dour lemon glares at the bird. it's a bird and she was about to have a full conversation with it. she put the bird on her knee as she pulled her legs to her chest and ruffled his feathers all over. The owl moved its head from side to side and leaned into her hand at times indicating he was liking the petting and feather ruffling. "crazy bird." she said quietly and she sat with him.

Kat's owl has been BOTHERING her the whole term. She didn't know, but it seemed like it had such a huuuuge problem. Well, how was she supposed to understand her owl if it only kept snapping at her? She never understood owls, and her future had nothing to do with creatures. Nope. Kat had to cross that out of her list of possible things to do after graduation. Treats in hand, Kat made her way to the Owlery for her daily owl visit. Chase better be thankful that his owner was sooooo considerate.
But oh. She wasn't the only one in the owlery then. Kat tried to figure out who the girl was, but then obviously she knew who the person was. She knew her too well to even forget. "Hey Logan," she greeted her dorm mate. What brings her here anyway? Trying to reach out to her owl? Yeah, it was alright. Kat understood how insane owls were, like teenagers.
And she also threw a treat towards Chase, which the owl enthusiastically caught. See? She'd train it well... sort of.

Caterina had made it a habit to bring treats up to her owl at least once a week, but she'd soon found out that other owls liked treats as well. So her habit had quickly turned from a once in a while thing, to an epidemic of sorts. She didn't mind, though. The walk up to the owlery was nice and she liked making the owls happy and all.
Today as she toted up her bag of owl!treats, she noticed that she was not alone. There were two other girls there already, older girls. Older Slytherin girls. Her two favorite older Slytherin girls. Oh look, Kat already had treats for her owl. Good, good. Owls deserved treats. "Hi." She beamed at both of the girls and lugged her bag around.
Maybe she should have brought human!treats as well.
Cruddy Owl, just because he was upset didn't mean he had to be mean to her he could be mean to everyone else, but not her. not his human mum, that was mean and she would ground him! How did one ground an owl though? She was deep in though about how to ground an owl she didn't even notice the first or even second person walk in until they we're saying hi..
err... "hey." when had they gotten there? Surely they didn't hear her talking to her owl right, Right!? It was C/Kat attack up here and she was the only Ari, seemed fine to her though she didn't mind either of the girls, specially not Kat, having put up with her for the past six previous terms and not Cat since the girl seemed to have taken a liking to her. Ariana found it amusing that the younger snake seemed to look up to her though she could see why, Ariana was in fact, quite extraordinary.
"Visiting your Owls?" obviously that could be why but they could also be sending out letters, something Ariana was going to do before she left, but now she had to hang out with her damn bird 'less she wanted to lose a finger.

Oh wow.
The next thing Kat knew it, her nickname buddy was here. "Hi Cat," she greeted the fifth year with a smile. Because, well, Kat liked Cat. Although yeah, sometimes the name confused her because they sounded alike. Kat knew she'd get used to it soon. Plus, what's more awesome is that all three of them were on the Slytherin Quidditch Team. That was so cool, am I right? They got to see each other on the pitch all the time although occasional winks and kissy faces happened just saying, Ariana.
But then back to Logan. "Yeah. I have to visit mine everyday because it likes being sassy." Like literally sassy. It was more moody than Kat was... and Chase wasn't even a female owl. She then eyed him as it kept STARING at the three of them. She had no more owl treats for him though. He'd have to wait for tomorrow.
"So... how are you, two?" Because that was important. Team mates cared for each other, yeah? Kat cared.

"Visiting them all, really." Cat flashed her bag at the two and nodded as she carried on over to visit her owl first. She'd been sending him back and forth to Italy a lot recently, with all her notes and sometimes her aunts would send food back, so poor little owl had been very busy.
"Interesting seeing both of you up here." Cat made eyes at the older girls and patted her owl on the head, "We're so far away from home." Indeed, they were. Ravenclaw and Gryffindor territory.
Sassy Owls, she GOT that, had they met her owl? probably not? or they'd probably lose a finger or two. " Yeah, Sal's tried taking off a finger or two of mine already for not visiting enough." she was just busy though Bird. she looked down at him as she kept her fingers running through and over his feathers, under his chin and his back, Sal liked to be petted, he liked attention period, almost as much as Ariana did.
Ariana was also Cold, quite cold, she didn't plan on staying up here for as long as she was so she only had on a long sleeve shirt. "Cold." thanks Sal. " but im ok." she was ok, Kat knew, she saw her everyday, she was fine. "far away indeed." far from her nice green fire in the common room and the comfort of her bed, damn she loved her bed, she'd miss that the most when she left, that's for sure. she then looked at Cat's owl and almost had a stare off with it " what's your owls name?" she asked her, she knew Chase, silly bird, but who was this New bird, and could their birds be friends? all of them? could they?

Oh. Ari's owl wasn't just sassy. It was also evil. Evil owl. "Chase usually just ignores me and pretends like he doesn't see." Kat said. "But in other cases, he'd try biting me. He's not doing it now because he knows I brought him treats and owls totally dig treats." She could definitely hear Chase wanting for another treat, but she ignored it the way he'd ignore her too.
Anyway, Chase was the least of her problems right now.
"Yeah, it seems weird being in their territory. I've been used to the darkness in our common room and theirs seem so high up." She wondered how it felt like, though, staying in towers rather than down in the dungeons. But she and Ari had been outside their common rooms and, Merlin, were those Eagles and Lions ever tired of all the staircases?

~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Okay, so Adi did not know if he would find a Hippogriff around on the Grounds but an he would settle for a feather from his second favourite animal- an owl! They were brilliant creatures as well plus Professor Lafay did say to bring back something from an animal.
So, Adi carefully plucked a tail feather from a pretty white and brown patterned owl who seemed not to be glaring at him. "Thanks a ton, Mr. Owl!'' Was the owl even male? Hmm.

Sophie grumbled under her breath as she made her way from the dungeons to the owlery. Why, oh why, did she have to choose an animal that required a ton of climbing to get to? She had her own owl which she could have easily called for, but she just didn't want to pluck a feather from her own owl.
So here she was heading up to the owlery to find some random owl to take from. Once up there, she stared upward at the owls while trying to dodge any possible owl droppings. Looking back down again, she saw an owl perched nearby and snuck up to it. Heh. She reached out and placed her hand around the animal's back then pulled out a feather.
The animal made a terrible noise, causing Sophie to cringe. "Sorry, but...thank you!" she called out to it. She then turned and made her way back to the dungeons.
Jake really wasn't sure how he felt about the idea of this potion. Their skin would turn into whatever animal they used? ...Did they have to test the potion? Because Jake couldn't think of an animal that he would like to share a skin with. He liked his human skin, thank you very much.
But here he was, Anya's hand in his, in the owlery. He'd climbed up a TON of stairs to get an owl feather that he didn't want. Oh well. Class. Points. He glanced at Anya before calling down her owl. She wouldn't mind, right? "Hey, Cici," he said softly. He ran a hand over the owl before quickly plucking out a feather. "Sorry," he mumbled before holding the arm that the bird had landed on out to Anya.

Anya was not a fan of this assignment. She was, however, a fan of being able to hold Jake's hand while they should be in class. So... as long as the owl feathers for skin thing didn't last very long this might be a worthwhile assignment.
"Hey CiCi." Anya said quietly stroking her owl. D'aww. She liked her owl. All orange and cute like. She carefully pulled a fluffy loose feather out. Awesome. She had what she needed.
And she kind of felt bad she didn't have a letter to send out. Maybe she should do that today.
"Ready?"
