A spare room located in annex to the Muggle Studies Classroom has been refurbished and renovated to allow muggle technology devices to work. Note: the technology found within this room will only work in this room of the castle.
All the devices are labeled and fully operative and functional, though many of them are bulky and outdated due to the nature of most of them being donated, given lack of adequate funding for newer items. Devices found within the center include several large computer workstations, old flip cellphones (the brick-kind ;D), corded and cordless phones of various styles. The phones all are operative to make local Britain and Scotland outgoing calls. There's also stereos and CD walkmans to listen to music, as you work on homework or study, if you'd like.
All the technology found within this room is open for both students and staff to play with, provided that you have signed a waiver agreement with the Muggle Studies Professor. Anyone caught using the equipment without signing the waiver is subject to punishment, up to and including banishment from the center - permanently.

He'd had little reason to come here until now, but now that he WAS here... he wondered why he hadn't come sooner. Zeke's hazel eyes scanned the room and its contents. Phones, walkmans, old television sets, computers... yeah, he could use some of this stuff. Did the phones work? Could he call Emily? Was that possible? He figured he'd look into that later.
What he really needed right now, was a hoover. Any type of hoover/vacuum cleaner. Industrial, chunky, a little dust buster... anything, so long as it WORKED. Of course, all of this stuff worked, no? That was the whole point of the space. Zeke took a few more paces into the room, and walked along a row of shelves searching for the item. He spotted it before he saw the label, and with a satisfied grin, he took it up in both hands and moved it to the centre of the room. He'd need space for this activity first and foremost. Hehe... SPACE... how punny of him.
This was the perfect place to conduct some tectonic warfare, IF, it even worked that is.
Zeke withdrew from his pocket his last of the small sandbags they received in Astronomy, and set it on the floor in front of him while he got down and sat cross legged. He had everything else he needed. His wand, his planet material, a bottle of liquid iron, and an old, empty and CLEANED animal worming plunger/syringe thing. Yep. All set.
"Fingere Elementi," he cast on his bag of dirt. This was of course as easy as breathing, now that he'd practiced it for what felt like the hundredth time. The red bag rose from the ground and melted and morphed into a small sphere that resembled the planet Earth. Peerrfect. And now came the hard part. He had to inject the Earth with SO MUCH hazardous material -- liquid iron -- to make it unstable from within, so that it would put pressure on the tectonic plates and so the whole world would fracture. THAT is what he was anticipating. CRACKING and breaking and falling apart. Rumbling and maybe a volcanic explosion or two.
SO........... without further ado, Zeke unscrewed the top of the bottle of liquid iron, and dipped the syringe thing into it, making sure to pull back the lever so it SUCKED UP all the 'hazardous' material. Once that was done, Zeke plucked the Earth out of the air and held the planet in his hand. Wouldn't it be awesome to just... play God, and CRUSH it in his hands? Heheheheh... yeah, but no, tectonic warfare sounded far more appealing.
Inserting the tip of the syringe into the planet - somewhere near where Canada would be, he started pushing down on the plunger bit with his thumb, effectively injecting the Earth with liquid iron. He'd chosen iron because it was a heavy metal, only, in liquid form... and so... that meant it could put pressure on things right? Like, it would be better than plain water? Once the first plunger was injected, he set the planet in the air again, letting it float there while he observed. It SEEMED as though it was shaking a bit, but he could be wrong, so he filled the syringe again.
For take two, he inserted the syringe into Japan... they were on a fault line, so this would SURELY result in some quaking and shaking and cracking. Fingers crossed. Zeke let the plunger go all the way down before returning the planet to its hovering state. Shaking was happening, he could SEE it... and... and... it was building!!! and BUILDING!!!! THINGS WERE HAPPENING!....
...
...
And then the planet DID crack a little... just a little. Not in half as he had expected. It MIGHT have been enough to bring an end to all life on Earth, but he couldn't be sure... so as it crumbled, he set about executing phase two of his diabolical plan. The complete annihilation of Earth. He was going to suck it up a black hole!...
Okay, not a LEGIT black hole. He couldn't conjure one, and as far as he was aware the school didn't have a functioning Vanishing Cabinet... but the vacuum would be a suitable alternative. It was still get sucked up from ONE place and being transported to another.
Zeke pulled out the cord from the little cord chute in the side, and scouted the room for an electricity plug outlet. When he found one, he shoved the cord into the socket and turned it on. Returning to the machine, he turned that on too... letting it ROOOOOAAARRRRR to life like a Gryffindor. Heheheh. Watching his still slightly-crumbling and iron soaked Earth fall apart, Zeke removed the head of the vaccum - the one with sweeping teeth - and revealed his black hole!... and then..
DUN DUN DUUUUUNN...
ZZZZVVRRROOOOOOOOSSHSHHHHHHHHHMMMMMMMMM!
He was sucking it up. EVERY last BIT of it. Sucked up through the nozzle.
"Bye bye.... planet Earth," he mused to himself.
He made sure to clean up EVERY speck of Earth, which was easy enough because they weren't tiny, and then he turned off the machine, pulled out the cord, pressed the button for the vacuum to suck the cord back into its chute, and placed it back where he found it.
With a quick "scourgify," of the floor - just in case, Zeke made sure he had everything and then left.
He'd done it. He destructed the Earth/planet in three different ways. Suucccesss!

Ian had seen the homework notice outside the classroom and decided that it would be best to go ahead and knock it out. He walked into the technology center with his supplies and notes. He pulled his satchel off his shoulder and lay it on the ground. Pulling the envelope out he set it on the table and went to retrieve some scissors. Reading the instructions, he pulled out the negatives. He held them up to the light and looked at the best place to cut.
He grabbed the scissors and cut the negative reel and cut them into strips of five. The he decided which ones he wanted to go with. Finally, he decided to go with the ones of the lake. He would enjoy them.

Homework. It seemed as if there would NEVER be an end to the thing. Adi pushed the door open to the Tech Center and promptly caught sight of Ian. He was about to go on ignoring his Housemate as usual but he remembered Professor Hadley and what she had told him. And he had promised he would try to do what she had asked. Hmph. "Sup, Ian?'' There. Acknowledgement. It was neither hostile nor friendly. Just neutral.
The Hufflepuff made his way towards a computer and scanner, now humming to himself one of his favourite songs as he booted up the computer and turned on the scanner. Opening the lid of the scanner, he immediately noticed the slot for the negatives. Adi recalled that the instructions for the homework said that no more than five images could be developed at a time. Scissors. He needed scissors. Cue the rummaging through his bag. He was not going to risk spell work and damage the negatives.

Ian had been looking through the other strips trying to figure out which others he might like. He heard a familiar voice and looked up. Hey Ian said to Adi. It was progress. Adi spoke to him. It made Ian feel like his big mistake in going to the professor had been somewhat ok.
He returned to the negatives. Shortly after that, he heard Adi rummaging through stuff. This went on for a bit. Ian looked up and asked, something I can help with?

See? Talking to the dorm mate again wasn't so bad. But Adi did feel the need to keep his eyes away from the boy. Right now he was still rummaging through his bag for a pair of scissors. But he couldn't find it which was unusual as he was always prepared.
Ugh! And why was Ian talking to him again? "Yeah, you can stand right there so I can chuck this book at your face,'' he thought to himself. But no...he needed to stop thinking like that. Should he take Ian's help? Adi's ego wasn't so big that he had to refuse help when he was offered it.
Finally he stopped going through his bag and looked at Ian. "Yeah. I need a pair of scissors.'' Did Ian have one he could borrow?

Ian watched Adi for his response. After some time, Adi said he needed scissors and asked if Ian had some. Ian reached for the ones he had been using and placing the blade in his palm, he extended the handle to Adi. You can use mine. I've cut all the negatives so far. Ian was grateful to get some acknowledgment from Adi. It was a huge step away from being ignored.

Adi took the scissors from Ian. "Thanks,'' was all he said. Ian was getting more acknowledgment from him than he wanted. All because he had forgotten his scissors. Meh. Anyway, he supposed Professor Hadley would be pleased at this progress.
Turning away from Ian, Adi counted out five five negatives before carefully snipping between the fifth and sixth negatives. He did this for all of them as he did not want to bother Ian repeatedly for the scissors. Adi set his cut negatives back in the envelope. "Here you go, Ian. Thanks again.''
The Hufflepuff pulled his Muggle Studies book from his bag. He needed those instructions.

Ian was happy to help. That's what Huffies did, right? Plus, even though they weren't rightly speaking as such, Ian still considered Adi as someone he respected.
He had finished picking out the negatives he wanted when he heard Adi speak to him again. He took the scissors back and said You're welcome. Ian didn't want to push things. Slow and steady...that was the ticket. This was a sight better than they were doing. Perhaps by the end of the term, they'd be on decent speaking terms again. This time without all the drama Ian had caused.

Adi said nothing further to Ian, instead he resumed his humming. He re-read the instructions then proceeded with the process. Holding his first set of negatives by the sides, he blew lightly on them. Gotta get rid of those tiny specs of dust. After ensuring that the shiny side of the negative was facing the glass on the scanner, the negative was slipped into the slot.
The Puffer shut the lid then pressed the button. Oh looky. A menu just appeared on the computer's monitor. Looks like there had to be some fields set before the negatives could be printed.

Ian quietly went about his work. He inserted each 5 picture strip in the scanner, making sure that the resolution was properly set. He checked to make sure they were uploading well and as they came up. When he was satisfied that they were uploading properly, he saved them to a folder he had set up on the desktop. He went through the first strip, pulling off and printing a photo of the black lake. It was a shot near evening and light bounced off the ripples like little stars in the evening sky. It was a good first shot. He repeated this a few more times, choosing a shot of the castle at sunrise as the sun crested the peaks. He also went with a shot of the whomping willow swaying in the wind and the groundskeepers hut and finally a sad shot of the quidditch pitch, swallowed up in a sinkhole. He took the prints and tucked them into an envelope and began cleaning up his area. When he had finished, he placed everything in his satchel, slung it over his shoulder and departed, saying a quick goodbye to Adi. Bye, Adi. Good luck with your photos.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Adi was now fidgeting with the mouse as he adjusted the necessary requirements after choosing the option of printing the negatives: 300 ppi for resolution and JPEG for digital file.
Oh, Ian was leaving? Okay then. It didn't really make much of a difference to Adi. "Laterz, Ian,'' he responded, still looking at the computer monitor. What now? He looked back at his book. "Complete the scanning process from your computer, clicking 'scan' on the menu, which will create a digital image saved onto the computer that you can elect to print out as a hard copy.''
The Puffer moved the mouse so the cursor hit the scan option. When they were done scanning, he checked through the pictures. Great! They were all scanned perfectly. Soon his photos were being made into hard copies.
Kace saw the homework notice on the board and decided it was time to give it a go. He already had his negatives in his backpack. He carried them carefully of course, he didn't want them scratched or ruined. He worked hard on them. As he was making his way to the computers he noticed Adi was here. "Hey Adi you doing the muggle studies homework as well?" he smiled and noticed he was copying his files on it. He noticed the scissors were there and he sat down and put his backpack off onto the chair. He sat down at the table and cut out his negatives.
Snip....snip....snip....snip....snip
Once he was doing cutting them out, he was now gonna do the scanning process. He opened his notebook and made sure he was gonna do this right.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
As his first set of pictures were finishing up being printed, Adi turned at the sound of another person entering the lab. "Hey, Kace!'' he greeted with a whole lot more enthusiasm than he had greeted Ian with. "Yep, just finishing up here.''
Adi examined the freshly printed copies. Excellent! Perfectly developed and printed. Now he would do a couple more. Or more than a couple as was required for the homework, in fact. So, Adi started over the process all over again until he had ten other pictures.
He placed them between the pages of one of his books before shutting off the computer and scanner. "I'm all done, Kace, so I'll see you around.'' His fellow Puffer got a wave and then Adi was gone.
After cutting out all his negatives it was time to use the computer. He checked out the scanner and looked like it was working. He saw the power button on for both the scanner and computer. He smiled, alright his luck was on his side today. He noticed as he opened the scanner there was a template to fit five negatives in. He put his five negatives into it careful not to get his fingerprints all over it and smudge his work. He noticed there was dust particles on it and blew them off lightly.
Now he needed to insert them into the scanner. He need to face the glossy side on the scanner first. He put them up to the light and once he found the glossy side he faced to the scanner and he closed the lid and pressed the button to scan the photos.
Eden had her backpack slung over her shoulder, her negatives safely tucked in there while she tried to find a spot in the room. Lots of people were her doing their homework, apparently. Well. IT WAS due soon. So she supposed procrastination--yeah. Lots of people did it. MHMM.
Picking one of the computers, and eyeing the scanner next to it---she tried NOT to think of the NIGHTMARISH experience she had at home with their scanner. Her mammy needed one for work sometimes. And often, when her mam had first started her job, she had needed a LOT of things scanned from their house to her computer at her job. Muggle mothers and their...issues. Can't you help me with MAGIC? she'd always ask her husband--but Eden's father always refused, and had to explain ALL the statute laws and blah blah blah...Eden was so used to it. Besides all of that----it meant that Eden KNEW how to use a flippin' scanner.
Flipping the switch for the scanner on, she made sure the two were ACTUALLY connected--and then she opened her bag and pulled out her notebook and her negatives. She flipped her notebook to the page where the instructions were--right. And she knew one of her pictures would be smudgy already...yep.
SIGH.
She'd get to that, though--for now, she just figured out how many strips of negative she had. It looked like there was only room for five. Well. Did she have scissors anywhere--she didn't see any in her bag--whoops. She stood and glanced around--AHA---
SCISSSSSORS!
Right over there! Eden made a grab for them quickly and then sat back down and cut the first five. Well. She could hear the two boys in there talking--but Eden was too shy to say anything. had she taken their scissors? She sure hoped not She swiftly replaced them back where she had found them-almost as if she hadn't taken them in the first place!

It was safe to say that AJ was getting pretty good at putting off things until the last minute, like her homework. These last few days she had been so bogged down with work, and yet she had still never learned her lesson.
The second year made her way down to the technology center and pulled out her notes. She was a muggleborn so this homework assignment shouldn't end up being so bad. Of course the lesson had been pretty technical, and even being muggleborn she had to be extra careful to make sure that everything was done right.
AJ spread her notes out on the table and scanned over them once. Okay, the task at hand seemed simple enough. She would need to use the scanner and it was already attached to the computer. Good, she wouldn't have to set that up, not that it would have been hard or anything.
The notes then said to make sure both the scanner and the computer were turned on. A snort escaped from deep in her throat. Well, duh. She knew not everybody came from a muggle background, but that much was pretty obvious, yes? Maybe things didn't always work like that for wizards.
All of her electronics were on and good to go. It was time to get this show on the road.
Angel was scared very scared, she hadn't done very well with the first lot... she was one of those people who loved camera's but then she would send everything to a proper developer because that was what they were paid to do but now the Professor wanted her to give this a try.
Angel spread her notes onto a desk and looked at what it said, use a scanner that is attached to a computer, she was totally happy about all this because it was something she could, she loved computers and she could use them.
Angel decided that the next thing that she needed to do was too make sure that it was turned on and so she turned it on, though she was still very scared about the rest of this homework.
The Ravenclaw sighed as she looked at the time. She should be OUTSIDE running around or something. The newly sixteen-year-old still stood by her sentiments that she would one day LIVE outside. Maybe a nice tree house or TENT--hehe.
BUT ANYWAYS. Back to homework.
She blew off her negatives before sliding them into the scanner. Another girl came in [AJ] and Eden smiled over at her and waved. What a nice atmosphere in here! She noticed the other girl looking very...sure of herself. Was she part muggle OR muggleborn, too? "Hi there--" she said softly. Just tryin' to be friendly and whatnot! "How's it going?" she asked before looking back at her work.
Oh SHOOT. Her negative was facing the wrong way--crud--she quickly flipped it over and blushed. She would be failing all of her classes if she never double checked anything. Sooo careless. All right. She examined the scanner a bit--a LOT nicer than the one she had at home. She thought the amount of buttons confusing-but it couldn't be THAT bad because it was in a Muggle Studies classroom for wizards. The assumption was that wizards weren't old hands at muggle things like this...so Eden felt safe in thinking that the scanner wouldn't be complicated.

All of the necessary technology was ON and ready for her to use it. Muggle studies was a breeze. It was one class that she wasn't even sure why she took because she was only a muggle a year ago. Oh right, AJ liked to excel, and this was one class that shouldn't give her any problems with that.
AJ was just about to open the lid on the scanner when a voice near by caught her attention. It was an older girl that she had seen around class, and she was actually talking to her. A smile erupted on the young lion's face. "Hello." Everything in her life was going alright. "Good... other than having to do homework." What a downer. "I'm AJ by the way, put er there." AJ walked the short distance over to the girl and held out her hand.
Oh no, was she having a problem? "Need some help?" AJ knew that she was younger, but she was totally a good helper. Plus, she was good with technology and muggle things in general.
While she waited to see if the girl needed any extra helping hands, AJ stepped back to her station and started on her own negatives. She definitely needed some scissors. After she located some, she snipped the strip making extra sure not to snip any part of the actual picture. That would be bad!
Angel opened up the scanner and suddenly saw the place where she had to put the negative the only thing was they could only do 5 at a time, seriously couldn't someone come up with a scanner that does everything at once you just press a button and hey presto you had the film ready in your hand.
Angel suddenly realised that she had more that 5 negatives which meant that she had to cut a few off them off which was going to be fun because well she wasn't really good at cutting things straight.
Angel took the scissor and concentrated
*snip*
"I did it." Angel beamed as she spoke out loud to herself, hopefully no one was listening. She looked at the negatives and smiled as she held them on the edge. No though what was the next thing she had to do, She really needed her notes now.
After pressing the button for the photos to scan, Kace went over to the computer and checked to see if the menu popped up and it did. He looked for the option to print the negative scans and he found it. Now he needed to print them at 300 DPI. He wondered what that meant and he googled it on the computer. Aaahh so DPI was pixel resolution. He smiled and figured it out and changed it to 300. Then he checked the type of file and saw it was already JPEG. He was good with that step. Then he checked the list and saw he couldn't develop more than 5 pictures at a time. Woopsies!
He went back to the scanner and opened it and did three pictures. He took the two negatives and put them back on his notebook so they wouldn't get scratched. He closed the lid and negative holder and pressed scan on the menu. He saw his image present itself on the screen and saw he could print it. He clicked print and heard it printing in the room. He went over to check his image.
All of the necessary technology was ON and ready for her to use it. Muggle studies was a breeze. It was one class that she wasn't even sure why she took because she was only a muggle a year ago. Oh right, AJ liked to excel, and this was one class that shouldn't give her any problems with that.

Eden smiled but shrugged. "You're very right. Homework is bummer. Just wait until you're a fifth year--OWLs.." she said in a FOREBODING way. The amount of work was...TREMENDOUS. She wondered if it was this much work at Durmstrang...if she had stayed would she be less stressed? Probably. The pressure from her grandparents wouldn't be there if she had stayed--though coming to Hogwarts hadn't entirely been her choice.
"And I'm Eden--" she said, and she closed the lid of the scanner tightly. "UM--I think I got it--I'm half blood so--" she smiled and shrugged. "We have a scanner at home for Mam." The muggle in the family, YEP. Hehe. She looked for the scan button for awhile--and when she finally found it she JABBED it all triumphantly...WHOOOH!
Looking back up at the computer screen, she saw the thing pop up, like the directions in her notebook said, and she set the resolution to 300..and the digital file was already on JPEG. Oh good. YIPPY SKIPPY. Now she was...READY. MHMM.

See? This girl got it. Homework was no fun. If you hear her sister Abby talk about it, you would think homework was a good time. What a sad, misguided girl Abby was. Come to think of it maybe her sister could do her homework for her. If she loved it so much wouldn't do extra just make her day? AJ was always up for bringing a smile to Abby's face. That wouldn't help her now though. "You're a fifth year?" Well spotted, AJ. Eden practically spelled it out for you. "OWL's sound disgusting." Thank goodness she still had several years to go before she had to worry about that.
"Nice to meet you. I like your name." It was different, and not one that you heard all of the time. Oh, she was half and half. "Okay, well if you need me to kick the scanner or something..." she was here. Sometimes it just needed to know that you were the boss.
All the chit-chat made her forget where she was on her steps. AJ drug her finger down her notes until she found it. Dust needed to be removed. AJ took a deep breath in and blew out deep. Little specs of spit flew all over the negatives. Whoops. Apparently she was a little too eager when it came to removing the dust. She couldn't exactly wipe it off because of the whole smudge thing. Instead AJ made sure to hold it on its edges and fan it back and forth. All better, no harm done.
Now she needed to get the film into the scanner. Making sure the shiny part was facing the glass she inserted the negatives into the scanner.
As Kace walked over to check his photos he noticed it actually came out alright. He saw the picture and saw it was Emmy holding the camera. He smiled and thought it was a beautiful picture. How did he get soo lucky. He chuckled to himself and thought to print an extra copy just for himself. Then he checked the second photo of Lux and it came out well! Man he was good at doing this photography stuff.
He checked his third and fourth photo and noticed they came out well too. He smiled to himself and brought them back over and put them in his folder. He wondered if the teacher was gonna let them keep the photos or if she was gonna collect them. He was gonna do his next set of negatives now. He started out cutting them out.
Snip....snip....snip...snip
He placed them in the negative holders and went back to the scanner to start his process again.
