Mid Levels Lifts
It’s true, the rattle and clang of the lift as it goes frontways, backways, sideways, and the good old fashioned up and down may be annoying. It may make you grind your teeth in a way that will make your dentist recommend you wear a retainer at night. Just be glad that the lift music charm has finally worn off. Nobody wants it back again.
Those traveling though the Ministry of Magic via the lifts have now found themselves somewhere in the midst of the mid levels. Choose a number--four, five, or six, and you'll be dropped off on the level of your choice!
All employees are allowed and encouraged to use this RP space. Have fun.

Having spent the passed few minutes closed up in his office, Armen Recard left the Transportation office and walked swiftly down the Level six corridor. When he reached the lifts he slid inside, jammed the number ONE button, and stashed the memo in his pocket.

Seeing the lift door about to close she quickly ran forward and slid through the door. Seeing another person in the lift she acknowledged him kindly.
Nicole stepped onto the lift, and pressed the number five. It was pretty early in the morning and Nicole was going up to the fifth floor to start her work. The lift she was in was empty right now, it was pretty early in the morning, but Nicole wanted to get an early start on her first week.
Having spent most of the morning cooped up in her cubicle space with only memos to keep her company Clarissa left it in search of human interaction. An air of hard work always filled the creatures department in the mornings which suited her fine on most days but not today when she felt restless. She wanted someone to talk to, but who? Clarissa left the department and headed down the sixth floor corridor to the lifts where she stopped indecisively. Where should she go?

Isobel was feeling pretty epic right now. She had just passed her apparition test, and so had got her license back. This made her feel pretty good. Today was going to be very epic. So now she was going to head back in the lift, and go up to level 2, and start her wokring day. So with a big smile on her face, she was mooching towards the lift. Hopefully all her other aurors would get their appariton licenses back, then they would be back in motion again.

As she stood there debating her options Clarissa heard footsteps coming up from behind her. Turning she saw a blond woman coming her way with a big smile on her face. It was smittening so Clarissa returned it. "Hi, having an extraordinary good day?" Pulling her red hair back she mumbled "Now where should I go? I want to socialize but not about work..."

Oh. Someone was talking to her. "Hello." Well this was nice, Isobel did need more friends after all. She rarely talked to people outside of Level 2, so it probably was good to talk to others. "Oh a very good day." A very good day indeed. Nearly the best day of her year so far, not that she really needed to tell anyone that. "Well...the atrium is good for seeing lots of people." Isobel mused with a nod. But she heading back up to level 2.

New friends were always welcomed seeing as she still hadn't really connected with her department collegues. Largely due to the fact that new people had been employeed recentley and they had also gotten a new department head in replacement of Miss Radley. "Oh, how nice! Mine has been a bit stressful and full of distractions. It's hard to work with bloodhounds barking close by." Clarissa commented, with a hint of irritation in her voice.
Atrium? She had never been there, or if she had, she didnt remember. "Um, where is the atrium located?"
Esteban sighed. It was the first time he had been inside the ministry since the strike. At first he understood the reason for striking...and really he still wanted to be out there, but he needed a pay check. He was starting to see the point of view from those still inside the ministry and he really just wanted a normal life. But his Department was locked up. Closed tight, and he couldn't back in....where was he suppose to go to work?

Althea was on her way to see Recard in Transportation to get an update on the train situation and pretty much hassle him into communicating about it better than he had been. Obviously he needed her help, and they did need to put their heads together to work on a plan of attack and figure out which of their respective employees would be up to the task.
She'd just come from an early breakfast with Dash, rather than from her own department, so it was via the lifts that she went, pressing a button from the Atrium and stepping in. To level six? Unless her plans changed en route. The tall blonde woman mentally reviewed her day. A long list to tick off. She had to go touch base with Rex about a patents issue, and then send a memo on that issue to level 2 to inform the IUMO chief and MMAO chief, and then send someone to Isobel regarding the faulty charms on level 9, see about selecting a new liaison for Accidents and Catastrophes, Speak with the new undersecretary about moving one of the DMAC roles to the Ministers Office, follow up with the frost charm development for DERP, speak with Rook from the Daily Prophet about the division changes within her department, and then in the afternoon answer some internal memos and owls, check up on her PART employees, she had a few job applications to read over, one of her charms experts wanted to pop in and see her, and she had to finalise the first aid course details.
If she was lucky she'd have time to catch a coffee with Tamara, but probably over paperwork, and likely she wouldn't have a spare moment to floo Dash as she usually tried to.
And the rest of the week was the same. Who knew what else would crop up? No more accidents OR catastrophes this week please, Wizarding World.
... she needed a personal assistant.

Failing to stifle another yawn, Ella covered her mouth and shook herself in order to shake the sleepies off. Her sleeping pattern had been way off lately. Actually... her sleeping pattern didn't really exist anymore. Ella hadn't been sleeping well for the past few days, due to certain personal reasons. So, in order to keep herself awake, she had to take a walk in hopes to wake herself back up. She even brought along a 5-month old kneazle to keep her company. Hopefully no one noticed the slightly darker circles under her eyes. She was still new at this job and she didn't want to seem like it was overwhelming her, because it wasn't. Yet. She was just tired.
Ella headed towards the lift and saw a tall blonde get in. Quickening her pace, Ella squeezed in with her baby kneazle before the doors could close. She couldn't even remember what level she was on, but she pressed the button for level four. That's where she needed to go. Glancing over, she took a moment to recognize who was standing next to her. "You must be... Althea Schirmer. I'm Ella Wellington," she greeted kindly, her Spanish accent peeking through a little bit. Ella had seen her around in the short time that she had been working in the Ministry, but they hadn't officially met before. Until now. "Oh, and this is Lucy, one of the kneazles from my level. Five months old." And adorable, too.

Althea had eyed the Kneazle without comment when the woman had managed to catch the lift before it closed. A moment later the lift was off sideways with a lurch and Althea simply held onto one of the handles, moving with the lift rather than fighting against it.
Oh? She knew her name? Ah. New Creatures Head. Thea, being in a good mood and all, smiled at the woman. Not so much at the Kneazle. She did not fancy Kneazle fur on her clothes. "Yes, I'm Althea, nice to meet you, Ella." Paause. Why did they have Kneazles on level four? Not for experimentation, surely? Mascots? Althea prudently chose not to ask.
"Its a shame we haven't had a chance to touch base yet, I'm surprised Alexander hasn't called a meeting recently, actually. How are you settling in?"

Yes, Ella had indeed seen her eye the kneazle. "Don't worry, she's hypoallergenic." Which also meant she didn't shed. Which is why Ella dared taking her on a walk. When the lift suddenly moved sideways, Ella grabbed onto a handle and steadied herself. She wasn't used to those things yet.
"Pleasure to meet you as well." Ella smiled at the woman. She had heard rumors about this Althea, yes. Some said she was scary, some said she was just fine. Ella did think she had somewhat of an intimidating personality at first glance, but it might have just been the blonde hair.
Ella stroked the kneazle's head absently and looked at Althea when she spoke again. A meeting? Hmm. "Between the department heads, you mean?" Ella wondered. "I'm doing fine, actually. The first couple weeks were a little... insane, but I've managed to catch up." A lot of her employees were on leave assignments, but she had what she needed in the office. "The food is pretty good, too." She had to add that in there. From what she heard, the food court was fairly new. The Maintenance crew did a fine job with it. "Also, I'm glad I get to share a level with Rafael. I like having another department head in reach." Also, they shared the same ethnicity, which for some reason made her... content. Yes.

"Well, that's prudent." Althea answered. "Is it bred or charmed?" The hypoallergenic factor, that was. Whether it was magically bred or your every day mundane genetic breeding was another thing, but she didn't ask for details about that.
"Yes, between department heads." Thea confirmed. It was only good politics to foster a clear and friendly working relationship with ones colleagues. And, you know, Alexander really should make sure he keeps them all loyal unless he wanted to see a division in the ranks like what allowed that coup to happen. "Mmm. Lucky. I'm still playing catch up. I've been here a year and I'm the longest serving department head Accidents and Catastrophes has had in almost a decade. Its caused a bit of a clog on an organizational level." That was an understatement, but at least she'd managed to clear out the dead weight employees since she'd been on board. And the filing system was coming together nicely.
She herself wouldn't much like sharing her level. She liked that Accidents and Catastrophes had plenty of space. But then, they needed the facilities too so it wouldn't work so well. "Rafael is... efficient. And friendly." So there was that. She approved of the man well enough, after the tour he'd given her and the work their departments did together. Which actually reminded her: "I need to have a chat with you, actually, when you have a chance. Just to touch base on a few matters." Something else to fit in today perhaps? The day was getting longer and longer and it wasn't even nine am yet. Sigh.

Ella smiled proudly. Prudent indeed, Miss Schirmer. "Charmed," she replied simply. She pet the young kneazle's head and smiled at the low purr that was heard in the creature's chest. "Kneazles are sort of a side-project of mine. I get a few reports of 'really big, mean cats'," she used her free hand to make air-quotes, "So I take them to the creatures room and train them to mellow out. They make excellent house pets." Just in case she was wondering.
"Hmm." That's all she said. He was the Minister, after all. He most likely had a busy schedule, Ella wasn't too bothered by the fact that there hadn't been a meeting. Althea's next statements made Ella raise her eyebrows. "Wow. That sounds like a rather intimidating position to be in." She wondered how long the department head before her had lasted. "I can only imagine how busy you are." Accidents and Catastrophes... That was a broad subject to cover.
Stifling another yawn behind her hand, Ella nodded. Rafael was indeed friendly. He had come to meet her at her little get-together party on her first day. Ella's eyebrows rose again when Althea said she needed to speak with her. "Alright, sure. I should probably get back to work soon, but possibly at the end of the day? I'll probably be here late." She wanted to make sure her filing cabinet was just how she wanted. It wasn't like she had anything to go home to anyway.

The one thing that Alex was truly dying for was the one thing she seemed unable to find anyplace in London. At least nothing decent enough to quench her tastebuds. Stepping into the lifts, she rocked lightly on her heels, waiting for their automatic closure.
Sometimes she was grateful that her boss had been bitten or whatever caused her to be quarantined; it meant she had loads more freetime and Isobel couldn't say anything about it. As long as she didn't let the work pile up. Right now she was on a mission though, which sadly did not involve naming any new comet or asteroid or moon. Instead she was on a quest for vegemite; it had been too long since she had any decent sandwich spread and she was determined to find the best one. Or else find a position with the Australian Ministry; no doubt that Kent would probably be thrilled to hear that, unless he moved on to the next innocent research assistant.

Tyler needed to find Mr Bossman and he had said that he was going to talk to people in DERP, so maybe thats where he would be .. well he was hoping so. Where else in this whole Ministry would he be able to find his boss, as he rounded the corner he headed towards the lifts and noticed that one of them was open and was about to close. He jogged towards the lifts and slipped into the lift that was about to close, it was then that he noticed he wasnt alone a woman was in there too. Oh boy.. it was good that he hadnt stumbled or made a fool of himself in front of her while rushing for the lifts. "Oh! Sorry.. didnt know anyone was in here." otherwise he wouldnt have risked getting hurt by the lift "Hello" he greeted the woman wondering where she was headed.

Considering her options over where she already tried vegemite, Alex wondered vaguely what other places in town offered the spread and how many were worth her time and money to sample. That was when the lifts were about to close and someone jogged forward and slid into her lift.
Smiling politely at the man, she shook her head. "I didn't know I was invisible, but hello to you too. Which floor you headed to?" She asked, glancing up in awe at the fluttering memos. That was someone she would likely never grow used to.

He chuckled a little "You werent.. I was just too busy running for the door I guess so I didnt notice you" he said as he smiled at the woman for greeting him too.. what floor was he headed to? "Um level 4" he replied with a smile.. "You?" he asked her back wondering what floor she was headed to. He saw her look up at all the memos that had entered with them "Looks like the Ministry is busy today. Alot of things going on I guess" he said looking at the memos wondering if he was going to receive any, he had work to do so he preferred not to receive any unless they were from his colleagues working on the same case as him or Mr Bossman requesting him to do something. Unless he found the guy first on the fourth floor where he said he was going to meet with those people, but was he there.. he was not sure!

Derek was ALL OVER the place that day. Which he loved. No great changes in his research, but the fact that he had to walk all over the Ministry to collect more samples and get to add data to his studies really made him excited, even though he had to deal with people for that.
The former Gryffindor was rushing to the Department of Environmental Regulation and Protection after getting a memo about something completely different this time. Something about some tiny, crushed leaves somewhere? Wow. Talk about random. Derek didn't care that this had nothing to do with the infestation that was still going on in the Ministry. He could run both researches at the same time. Not a problem at all! The more the merrier. And it wasn't like he had anything else to do with his life anyway.
"WAIT!" He sort of yelled as the people he saw getting in the lift. After a rather fast jog, he got in the lift at the same time more memos zoomed in. Panting a little, the 25 year-old nodded at the both of them in an awkward thank-you kind of way. At least that was his intention.

Ah good. That meant she didn't accidentally make herself invisible. Level four? What was that? International .... or no, .... no, that one was something with outdoors, which was odd, considering their connection to outdoors only seemed to exist via windows. That was the floor Ella worked on; speaking of which, she hadn't really seen or spoken to her much since their mountain adventure.
"Ah. I get that a lot, I suppose, I'm unfortunately used to it." Alex chuckled. People running for the door ... though probably more used to quiet. She nodded at his comment. "Just another busy day at the Ministry, I think you mean. Though I don't usually get much of that." Being just an Astronomer and all, her favorite day was the day the monthly Astronomy newsletter reached her inbox. Just as she was about to answer where she was headed (which she admittedly postponed), another someone raced toward their lift....

"WAIT!" He sort of yelled as the people he saw getting in the lift. After a rather fast jog, he got in the lift at the same time more memos zoomed in. Panting a little, the 25 year-old nodded at the both of them in an awkward thank-you kind of way. At least that was his intention.
Quickly jutting her foot in the way of the gate closing, she waited for the newcomer to enter, before removing her foot. He looked familiar; she'd seen him before. WAIT .... Was that?
"I know you! You're the guy who had anger management issues in the bookstore awhile back, aren't you?" Alex burst out, her cheeks flushing rose the minute she said that. "I mean... I'm sorry... um ... where you headed? This lad is headed to level four and I'm headed to .... um .... someplace with decent food." Because she was starved.

Derek thought the awkward thank-you nod would do. No need to exchange any more words with those random people there. He didn't even know them, in the first place. Until...
The lady spoke to him.
The young man, who was facing the floor while trying to catch his breath, turned his head slightly and eyed her from the corner of his eye. Anger management issues? He actually knew what she was talking about, because he recognized her as well. She was the one who was talking nonsense/gossiping/whatever in Flourish and Blotts a long time ago.
Pursing his lips a bit, Derek finally turned and fully faced the woman, not standing up fully straight, though. "I don't have anger management issues." He said dryly. Never did! It wasn't his fault that that freak was driving him mad.
Hm, she was sorry. Right. Derek didn't really believe her; she was just saying that to be... a little polite after being so rude. And why was she telling him where the other guy was going? It wasn't like he had asked... inner eye roll. People...
"Level 4." The former Gryffindor said simply, as he took a deep breath and looked straight ahead again. Come on now, lift, please do your job quickly!
There was no sugar on level two. Why the heck was there no sugar? He needed sugar for coffee. Kennedy Escalante absolutely refused to drink coffee without sugar. And he needed the substance to keep him awake. It had been a really bad idea to pull an all-nighter last night.
With a long, loud yawn, he got into the lift and pressed a random button. The rattling didn't even bother him, that's how tired this YATI was. He leaned back and closed his eyes for a little.

...Coffee...
The young and newest employee to Level 5 was on her way to her regular duties, needing a lift to get to her destination she rushed in before the doors close leaping like some antelope!
What?! He was in here too? What was he doing here?
Oh my God he's still alive?! Karmen thought to herself as she sighed and looked somewhat like the grumpy cat, muggles find quite amusing. Heading over to the buttons she pressed the button that would take her to her floor.
