Spring had accentuated its sweet arrival with cloudless blue skies and the crisp scent of the great outdoors, carried by large gusts of wind. Despite the windy day, Professor James could feel that it was going to be a good game with every fiber of her soul. After all, the Gryffindor-Slytherin rivalry always made for a good show.
Though... James had noticed an odd camaraderie between the two houses. That in itself spiked her interest in the outcome of this particular game. Would the two play around and enjoy themselves rather than consuming their thoughts with winning? Perhaps. Or... maybe that was just their attitudes out of game time.
"A beautiful day for Quidditch, isn't it? Welcome to the fifth match of the term - today's match-up features our ferocious lions of Gryffindor versus the almighty snakes of Slytherin! Let's hear it for them!" The gates at either end of the pitch flew open; streaks of crimson and emerald scattered the pitch as the teams acknowledged their housemates and fans.
While the teams took their allowed practice time, Professor James carefully reviewed the rosters. Ah, the Gryffindor Keeper had returned, that was nice - and the mighty Slytherin Chaser duo was reunited! Splendid. Upon pocketing the rosters, suddenly, Alice Fischer dismounted near James and took a moment to consult. James pulled the roster from her pocket, scribbled with a self-inking quill, and gave a nod to the Gryffindor Captain. The late roster change would cost Gryffindor a penalty of ten points, but certainly the team was strong enough to make that up easily. No worries there.
A whistle-blow indicated the teams to finish up their last bits of practice and take their positions. "I don't mean to be a downer," she told them, a smile crinkling at the sides of her lips, "but this is your last match of the term. Make it a good one, all right? Enjoy yourselves. Relish the memories. And most importantly, have fun." That was all. She didn't tell Alice Fischer not to bite anyone, as it seemed to be unavoidable, and she knew the teams were likely to play cleanly. They knew she wouldn't stand for it any other way.
"On my whistle. Three... two... one... TWEET!"

As soon as the quaffle is released, West Odessa snatches it right out from under Jacob Keller's nose! The Slytherin Chaser passes quickly to the side, the ball caught by Zoe Tillstorm, who ducks to avoid the charging Selina Skylar! Skylar swings around and pursues Tillstorm, who does her best to gain speed, but is forced to pass to Theodore Kinsley, partially guarded by Keller - but Kinsley catches the pass, despite Keller's attempt to snag it! Kinsley zooms into the scoring area, lines his shot up nicely, and he shoots... DING! Theodore Kinsley scores the first points of the game for Slytherin!

As Melanie Sung puts the quaffle back into play, her pass is caught by Selina Skylar! The all-star Beater-gone-Chaser makes a quick jolt to the side to avoid the charging mighty mites of Kinsley and Odessa, and she manages to outrun them! Though, they follow quickly on her tail, forcing her to pass to the nearby Keller, who darts by Tillstorm toward the goalposts - Keller aims, he shoots... THWACK! Katrina Hudson makes a beautiful save for Slytherin!

Hudson launches the quaffle back into play to teammate Tillstorm, who is forced to move quickly to evade Keller, who follows quickly on her trail! Just as Keller lunges for the quaffle in her arms, Tillstorm passes to Odessa as he zips in front of her! Smart kid! Odessa moves toward the outside of the pitch, keeping his distance from the Gryffindor defenders for as long as possible before Skylar catches up with him - Odessa tosses the ball over Skylar's head, right through her outstretched arms, and into the hands of Kinsley! Kinsley races toward the hoops, shoots for the right one... DING! Theodore Kinsley scores once more for Slytherin!
A glint of gold shines just below Katrina Hudson's right foot...

Sung retrieves the quaffle and puts it back into play - her pass is caught by Keller, who tucks it under his arm and takes off down the pitch! Skylar quickly surges forward to fly next to him, instinctive to try to protect her Chasers as Tillstorm charges - CRACK! Peyton Baltazar's bat connects with a bludger and sends it soaring toward the Gryffindor Chasers - OOMPH! It connects with its target, sending Keller falling toward the ground - luckily, Skylar manages to keep her head on straight, snatch up the quaffle, and take off toward the hoops, narrowly escaping a pursuing Odessa! Skylar aims, she shoots... but Katrina Hudson makes a superb diving save!
The Seekers have spotted the Snitch!
