March had brought cooler temperatures and sunny skies. Only small patches of snow remained, a nice decoration around the muddy areas of grass from the snow melted by the sun's rays. To the attentive soul, the distant scent of spring lingered in the air, carried by soft gusts of wind throughout the stadium.
It was an optimal day for Quidditch.
With her hands on her hips and a radiant smile on her face, Professor James took her place in the middle of the pitch, her broomstick propped up casually beside her. "Good day, students, staff, parents, and fans alike - welcome to the fourth Quidditch match of the term!" she beamed with her wand to her neck to amplify her voice. "Today's match-up features the mighty badgers of Hufflepuff versus the fierce lions of Gryffindor! Let's welcome them to the pitch!"
As the gates swung open at both ends of the pitch, fourteen players of scarlet and gold took to the skies for their warm-ups and practices. All the while, Professor James reviewed the rosters, approved each player, and smiled to herself - it was going to be a good game. Though... this time she needed to remind the players not to bite.
The blowing of the whistle signaled the two teams to take their positions. Professor James released the golden snitch, followed by the bludger, then tucked the quaffle under her arm to speak. "I want good sportsmanship out of all of you. No foul play, no biting," her eyes flickered over to Captain Fischer for a moment, "and no poor attitudes, okay? Quidditch is supposed to be fun - go out there and have some of it." She offered the players a soft, warm smile before clearing her throat. "On my whistle. Three... two... one... TWEET!"
Quaffle: What did Peeves have floating in midair in the middle of the hall when Harry and the other Gryffindors were going up to the Common Room for the very first time?

Hufflepuff wins the face-off! Captain Dixon of Hufflepuff snatches the quaffle right off the bat, too fast for Alexa Cambridge to even make a scratch at the ball! Dixon takes off down the pitch, swooping around Christmas Goldman before passing to Lotus Wisteria! Wisteria accelerates to outfly a charging Sarah Edwards, then launches the quaffle to Kaiden Yarborough in the scoring zone, who shoots... DING! Yarborough scores the first points of the game for Hufflepuff!

As the quaffle is put back into play, Edwards makes quick work of snatching the ball and sets off toward the other end of the pitch! She swings around in a massive arc to evade Lotus Wisteria, then swerves sharply in an attempt to fly around Dixon, but Dixon slams right into her side and makes a grab for the ball - but Cambridge pops up on the other side, receives the quaffle from Edwards, and shoots forward toward the goal posts! Cambridge doesn't waste time - she shoots for the left hoop... THWACK! Denied! Ella Bishop makes a beautiful save for Hufflepuff!

Wisteria catches the quaffle after Bishop's deflection, swoops around, and immediately launches the ball down the pitch to Dixon! Despite Goldman's efforts to make a steal, Dixon receives the pass and dips her broomstick downward to avoid an oncoming Edwards! Dixon gains speed, nearing the hoops, but at the last moment she passes back to Yarborough, who quickly aims and shoots... DING! Kaiden Yarborough scores once again for Hufflepuff, right past the outstretched hands of Jacob Keller!
The sunlight reflects off a golden object right near Captain Fischer's broomstick tail...
