Charles Hollingberry EraAll historical records pertaining to Ministry of Magic RPG under Minister for Magic, Charles Hollingberry [IC March 2097 - present; OOC November 2018 - present]
The training room is a converted area, made up of what was once the Education Department. To access the training arena you need to have the password, which changes regularly. To access the training arena, you need to go through a certain closet, where you'll be trapped if you happen to get the password wrong, or attempt to enter without clearance.
-------------
The training room changes as needed for each and every scenario that is given. One day it might be a dilapidated building, another a wide open desert, or such as today, a nice large forest with the sounds of running water and animals throughout.
------------
Please read the RULES before you PLAY.
Current stats will be listed under the scenario in question at the bottom of this post.
The CURRENT scenario is listed beneath the spoiler tags.
Text Cut: RULES
1. Training only in here. This is not a general chat thread.
2. You are encouraged to interact with people/things that may be present, but as it's a formal training exercise members should RP on their own timeline. Most training activities are designed to measure INDIVIDUAL performance, and therefore should be played as such. There may be room for group options/activities later.
3. Your posts will be deleted if you don't have permission (either IC or OOC) to play here. To play here, you must be: a) An employee of MLE, with permission granted by your division head or department head.
or
b) An employee of another department with an official request for training by your Department head AND permission given by Gidyun Yenorin, the MLE department head.
4. You can take as many posts as you like to finish the task, or as few, but the more detailed you are the better your character will 'score.'
5. The requirements for each scenario are listed below. Past scenarios are found within a spoiler cut.
6. Please be 'realistic.' If your character is inexperienced, let them BE inexperienced. RP them learning, rather than knowing.
7. Your character's results will be sent via owl or internal memo, and posted on the noticeboard.
8. Sometimes, you may be quoted by Nymphadoraliz, your division head, or a red name account. You will be expected to react. Otherwise, you need to be creative and imaginative, and decide what you see in front of your character. You should not wait for someone to post to you, but you may not double post here. You may make up spells! But do try to use HP canon & SS canon information first where it is available. (An attempt will be made to post for you in a 24-48 hour time frame) Difficulties range from 1 as easiest to 5 which is extremely difficult.
9. As per usual, all site rules apply.
Current Scenarios: Type of Scenario and Difficulty: Completion of Defensive Charms and Counter-Curses Who is eligible: Anyone (ministrywide) Requirements: At least 5 posts please IC Inventory: Only your wand. Portkeys will not work here. Apparition will not work here. Deadline: 03/31/17
Entering the room you find yourself in a room full of a few arenas. Each person needs to team up and each must post here by Tuesday, March 1, 2017. We will start dueling at that time, and a set of rules, spells, and points will be added to this post as well as PM'd to each of you!
At the end, of your duel, either by time running out or with you having lost your health please post your final post with the answer card of your posts. Your scoring will be posted here for Defensive Charms and Counter-Curses and PM'd to those not in level 2.

Lex didn't mind training. For all the training she'd done as a YATI, it still hadn't gotten on her nerves. Rather, this was one of the more interesting aspects of her job. When she couldn't be out in the field, she liked having an excuse to not be at her desk, especially when the reason was likely to keep her as active as if she was out there in the field.
This time, it was survival training. As it so happened, Alexa was good at this survival thing. Proven by the many times she'd come home alive from work. It was an accomplishment in itself, especially given some of the unsavoury company she sometimes found herself in. It kinda left her feeling that compared to the outside, she would always handle whatever the training through at her.
A forest. That's what it was throwing. It wasn't common knowledge, but Alexa lived in a forest, she spent lots of time there when she didn't feel like being in Madrid. This environment was almost....calming.
She liked it already.

As much as he hated admitting to himself, he was rusty. The years of being an educator and only "proper" opponents being his colleagues and the rare gifted seventh year when it came to duels had turned him a bit soft, but at least his reflexes and focus had remained sharp thanks in part to his kendo expertise and daily application of bushido code.
Looking to remedy things, Ryunosuke strolled into the training room in his standard leather jacket and jeans expecting the place to be empty so he could get through his exercise without interruption. Only no such luck was to be had, but at least he was sharing company with an Auror who - according to his observations at least - was enthusiastic about her job and wouldn't drag him down with lethargic movements.
"Great minds," he said in lieu of greeting as he twirled his wand between his weathered fingers.
Forest. Interesting choice he supposed.

Evangeline always loved these little training exercises. They weren't ever particularly difficult, but the little challenges in each one is what the young Shacklebolt liked. She liked being challenged and tested so she could prove to whomever was watching that she had skill. She also liked working with Angelo. Her skepticism of their initial arrangement had since faded and now she quite enjoyed working with him. He was talented and they worked well together.
After changing into her training clothes, Evangeline met Angelo outside the training area, by the door where their adventure would begin. Her hair was slicked back into a bun and her wand was securely holstered to her arm if she should need her. Her nonverbal spellwork was improving quickly and she was challenging herself today to not use her wand at all, if she could.
"Ready, partner?" she said to Angelo, her eyes moving up the door and then over to him.

The sound of the entrance opening registered to the Auror, as did everything else when she was in full Auror mode regardless of whether this was for training or the real deal. It left her wondering who else had decided to get in some training at this time of the day.
As it so happened, she wouldn't have to be wondering very long. The voice behind her had her turning slightly. It wasn't inherently familiar which was strange for the young woman who made it a habit of talking to everyone at least twice--once wasn't always enough to know for sure you couldn't under any circumstance tolerate someone.
Oh, it was the fresh meat. Great minds? Look at him making friends already. Lex considered her options a moment. She could come back when he was through (hah, right, no) or they could share the forest and she could see what he was made of. Quite understandably, one option held far more weight with her.
"Promise you won't die on me so we can get started." Said with a good naturedly grin. If he really was the dying sort, Lex would like to think he wouldn't have secured a job in MLE in the first place. All good.

Cambridge. That was this one's name, was it not?
Admittedly Ryunosuke hadn't bothered to memorized the entire department by name and facial recognition just yet, but hers was one that stood out for reasons beyond simple Ministry documentation. Little tidbits of the blonde's past that he would wait until the opportune time to reveal.
"Die?" the man chuckled, rubbing his five o'clock shadow. Then again...when one considered how that meeting had transpired it didn't seem all that farfetched. "Just spent the last decade in darkest forest in Japan. I can handle whatever will be thrown at us. You can always capitalize on your climbing abilities should things get too hot for you to handle though."
Cue a grin from the former Defense professor.

Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.
Saul had come into the Training Room expecting some dull boring wand work against some dummies to keep his skills sharp. Nothing difficult. Once he stepped inside he did not expect to see what he saw. A Forest! Merlin's Beard!! A Forest in the Training Room. What was this some Hunger Games Scenario? There weren't other employee's about to sneak up on him at any given notice were there? He adjusted his coat's collar and took his wand from his holster. Inching further into the forest unknown as to what he would encounter. He was not inexperienced with this kind of environment, he just had not been in a forest for some time. His Father, rest his soul had their family home just on the outskirts of the forest in Saskatchewan, Canada. So he and his young Sister would go in there to play hide-and-seek. Also there was the Forbidden Forest at Hogwarts. While forbidden of course there were opportunities to venture into it. Be it from a Class that was taking place in there, or if he was feeling rather rule-breaky at the time. As of late though most of his tasks took place within the city of London. Especially when he was doing his Private Detective work. the furthest he he had ventured into woods for that was Park Trees. So not very exotic.

Angelo was also dressed and ready, dressed in dark comfortable, well fitted clothing that wouldn't snag on anything. Ideal really, for anything that might come along given it had some resistance to cold and to fire and the like.
"Ready." He agreed and opened the door.
Ahead of them was a forest, behind just the door. He knew they had to find the other exit and that would be the challenge. Interesting really. It would be nice if they could simply use a homing spell and yet Angelo was certain that it wouldn't be that simple.
"We used to do this at Durmstrang." He noted quietly. Except... in a real forest. This one was just an illusion... which also meant it may not behave like a real forest should. Still, at least they ought to be able to get a compass bearing. Angelo released his wand from its wrist holster and cast point me, wand spinning on the palm of his hand. He watched it impassively, waiting for it to hit North....

Following Angelo into the forest, Evie looked around, observing her surroundings carefully while considering his comment. "Really?" she responded, though she knew of Durmstrang's values compared to Hogwarts' and wasn't at all surprised. "I wish Hogwarts had," she mused. "For all the dangers Hogwarts surprise them with, it's a wonder why they still want to baby their students." Dakest had been the best, though. He was cautious, but he showed them what was important to know about the dark things in the magical world. Evangeline was still quite fond of him.
Still, she wasn't nervous. She watched Angelo's wand as it calibrated and showed them their direction. That would be helpful in navigating the unknown territory. Then she began searching the ground and the trees for clues, anything that would help them start in the right direction.

Amrita was not in the business of teamwork in general, primarily because teamwork meant she could run as soon as she found herself in a precarious situation. But it did seem like a wise idea to team up with someone should the opportunity arise. Especially if they were to be attacked by something large, because despite her duelling ability, the girl had a very lithe frame and was not built for hand-to-hand combat. Only duelling, which counted more on strength of mind than actual strength.
Wand at the ready, she entered - only to find a forest. A smile spread across her face as she took in the surroundings. Forests, she could handle. Durmstrang threw things like this at them on a frighteningly frequent basis. Only thing she was counting on not happening were bears. Terrifying things, those were.
Taking a step or two or fifteen inside, the YATI conjured a jar and then some bluebell flames to go with it. And that's when she found the man standing not too far off, though quite a bit behind her. "Not going to go further in?"

Angelo sure agreed about Hogwarts babying their students. He knew his brother had loved the school, and the cousins he had which attended, save Bastien who was the sanest of the bunch, all sang its praises too, but he was glad he'd never been there as a student himself.
But.... there seemed to be an issue with the point me spell....
"It isn't stopping." He noted as his wand began to swing wildly again. "I might be able to set a tracking spell on this door though, so when we check we should be able to figure exactly where we are in relation to it at least. What do you think?"

Her mind moved from Hogwarts back to the training room quickly when Angelo mentioned the spell. She looked at his wand in hand and noticed also that it wouldn't set on a location. Interesting and challenging. Good.
"Good plan," Evangeline responded, drawing her wand out for the next part. "I'll check the area." She stepped away from her partner, using her wand to wordlessly reveal any curses or hexes or traps set for them right off the bat. Nothing seemed suspicious yet, but perhaps they had to get lost in the forest before getting too challenged.
Though, as soon as the thought left her mind, she noticed a thick fog rolling in and she suddenly couldn't see more than a few inches in front of her. Evangeline turned her head back in the direction she came in. Except... well, she /thought/ that's where she came from. Her sense of direction suddenly became completely disoriented within seconds. "Angelo?" she said out loud, hoping that he was still just a couple feet behind her. She had planned on doing this WITH him, you know.

A nod from Angelo and he did exactly that. Now with the door acting as a beacon, at least they could use it to get their bearings and be sure any direction they went in would be consistent. He noted Evangeline checking the vicinity and didn't question her on it - he trusted her. He knew she knew what she was about.
The fog though.... was unpleasant to say the least. It smelled a little... off.
"I'm here." He cast a bubble head charm on himself just to be sure that whatever the fog was, he'd not have any issues with breathing. The impervius spell on his gear would likely be enough to keep it from having any potentially negative contact effects, if it was more than just a regular fog.
Just as he reached Evangeline an eerie wail broke through the fog and then went silent.
Well then.
"That sounded like a banshee." He commented quietly. "But we aren't dead." So.
....... was there a boggart in the forest, or was it actually a banshee that had been constrained in some way? Perhaps the second, for safety reasons? Or maybe a juvenile banshee. One that wasn't quite strong enough to kill yet.

Good, he was still near. She didn't know what the fog was, but it was indeed slightly unpleasant. Eerie enough to cast her own bubble head charm on herself to protect herself from anything that could possibly be in the fog. Her cautious pace paused when a noise broke through the silence. It definitely sounded like a banshee... but he was right, they weren't dead. And that would be a bit of a harsh training.
Her mind also wandered, trying to figure out what it could have been and what it would mean for the rest of their journey. "You keep working on that and I'll focus on getting us out of here," she said as he started forward again. They worked well together, of course. They always had. Though she suddenly hoped that he heard all of what she said, because her ears suddenly filled with a dull buzzing noise, blocking out all sound, like a muffliato charm had been placed on her. Her head turned back to Angelo to see if he had the same effect.

He did, in fact, and Angelo stopped in his tracks, turning his head slightly side to side. He took a few steps back, and found the effect ended. Interesting. Was there a certain perimeter where a muffliato spell applied then? That WOULD protect against the banshee....
What was causing it? Where was the anchor? And the fog seemed to lessen, the more his ears filled with buzzing. Wand out, Angelo held one hand up to indicate that Evie should stop moving for a moment, and he took several paces around, taking note of where fog and muffliato each seemed to be strongest. After a few minutes of this he returned to Evangeline's side, took her hand, and tugged her slightly Eastward (for lack of a better term, taking their entry point as 'South'), until they were in thick fog again, but no buzzing, so he could talk. He did so, keeping his voice low. Who knew if the banshee, which was quiet for the moment, was trying to track them or not?
"Its vision or sound. We have to pick which sense to go without, it seems. But wherever the muffliato is strongest, the fog is weakest. Assuming there's more than one muffliato'd area, I'd hazard a guess that they are meant as 'safe zones' from the Banshee, but we have to keep going through the fog to get to the way out." Which begged the question, was this 'forest' bespelled to effect any of their other senses? Vision... sound.... direction.... there could be more.
"Do you suppose its just a banshee we're supposed to avoid? Or would you hazard there's something else, potentially?" If they ran into it, he had his wand ready to silence it. He wasn't stupid enough to try and destroy it. There'd be too much paperwork for that, and he didn't much want to work with the spirit division to try and excuse himself. This was probably a lesson too: to be able to respond in a way that would cause as little permanent harm to potential suspects as possible and yet still effectively protect yourself and others.
But yes, if she could figure out how to get them out, he'd keep them safe along the way. Angelo had her back, after all.

This was probably a lesson too: to be able to respond in a way that would cause as little permanent harm to potential suspects as possible and yet still effectively protect yourself and others.
But yes, if she could figure out how to get them out, he'd keep them safe along the way. Angelo had her back, after all.
Catching Angelo's signal, Evangeline stopped right where she was and watched him curiously to see what he was up to. She caught on, however, before he returned to her. She had a good guess, at least. When he took her hand, Evangeline walked with him back into the fog and the buzzing in her ears disappeared as he began to explain a theory. Sight or sound. It was clever, really.
"My guess is that the banshee is meant to scare us. Whether it's a test or not, we have to get through the fog to finish. For the test or for safety, perhaps we should muffliato ourselves the entire way?" They would stay close the entire time, perhaps not letting go of each other's hand so as not to lose one another, especially in the fog. Evie was confident that they could work through the course without hearing... maybe.
"That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if there were another obstacle on the way." Maybe just one more.

"It may not be necessary if there are more zones that have the spell already in effect. We already know its not enough to kill us - if it seem to be getting closer, we make for the next muffliato'd area, and keep our wands at the ready- one of the other obstacles might be one that we NEED to hear."
He paused to check the direction again and then nodded at her. They were on a constant bearing still, despite the fog. And they still had their bubble head charms in place.
"Lets keep moving."

Evie nodded, thinking twice about her suggestion. She knew that if there was another obstacle on the way, it would be important to have their hearing just in case something were to sneak up on them.
She followed his gaze and nodded back. Wand still at the ready, Evangeline began moving forward again, aware and alert for any new changes to the game. She continued in cautious silence.
"You know, if we pass," she began, which was amusing because she knew they would, "We should go out for drinks again. To celebrate. One step closer to becoming an Auror." Also because she liked going out with him. He was good company.

"Yeah, we can do that." Angelo wasn't exactly expecting NOT to pass. It was just a matter of by how much. A little ahead of Evie, his wand out, Angelo felt the ground begin to give way, his booted feet beginning to sink down, into rock.
"Evie stop! Don't come any closer!" He said urgently, not wanting her to get stuck in... whatever this was. Not quicksand... quickrock? "I'm stuck."

"Good," she responded, keeping her pace. But only for a moment. Evie stopped when Angelo called out to her, and even took a step back just in case she had gone to far. Stuck? Stuck in what? They had been walking on what just like rock and now he was sinking... into rock.
Her chest lurched momentarily for the safety of her partner, but she remained calm. "Is it still pulling you down?" she asked, wracking her brain for what might possibly stop it.
"Finite Incantatem!" she tried first, pointing her wand around the rock at his feet. It was perhaps more complicated than that, but it was always good to start with the basics first.

Alright Cambridge, where were you?
Strolling into the training room with his hands in his trouser pockets, Ryu glanced around for the firecracker blonde while twirling his wand nonchalantly between his fingers. Dueling...properly...with an adult was something the former Defense Against the Dark Arts professor was more than a bit rusty on. Although, to be fair, in his mind he struggled to see the Auror as an adult purely on the grounds that she was younger than his sister...soooooooo there was a bit of a disconnect. Not that he thought her immature...wait no, yes he did.
Heh.
No, really. Where was she? The perfectly capable and selectively mature Auror that is.

Alright some dueling!
It wasn't to say the Auror was in any way spell or action deprived, nor was it at all accurate that she didn't have some big case working on (nevermind how subjective scale was in this particular situation). This was simply a chance to duel without the stakes being quite as...high as they could otherwise be. Don't get her wrong, she loved the rush of adrenaline that could only come with the knowledge it could be your last move but duels against others in the office were--well they were fun.
That was what had her so excited. It'd been ages since she'd dueled for the joy of it and even though this was attached to training, it was unlikely Ryu would be firing any death shots at her which meant she was allowed to enjoy this.
"Look alive Ryu." She cautioned with the widest of grins as she settled next to him. Yes, she was completely ready for this. So ready. Could they start now? Yes?
"If you go easy on me I'll never forgive you." BUT WOULDN'T THIS BE SO FUN???

They were continuing the training that had been put on hold by the holiday and that was fine by Simon. Though seeing as he had already taken the specified subject matter training years ago, it wasn't like the security man had to stress over things. For this he was simply keeping himself sharp while offering to help others if needed. Old habits died hard and he'd always been quick to fall into a teaching/advisor role from his school days.
Stepping inside the training room, Simon couldn't help but wonder what he'd be dealing with, and with whom especially. But he was ready as he moved to take up a perch leaning against one of the walls in the main gathering area. His eyes occasionally flicking around as if debating the options from the arenas presented before him.
Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when

Regina was rather nervous about her first training session. She knew that this was unlike what she would normally be doing at home. Regina had her wand in her holster and was looking around for someone to partner with. Her eyes then spotted someone who was leaning against the wall. She walked over to him.
"Hello. I'm new to all of this and I was wondering if we could partner up."
