The lake a little crowded for your liking? Fancy a nice quiet place to read your favourite book? The beech tree is a perfect shelter from the sunshine as well as the splashing going on from the main area of the lake. This tree holds plenty of leaves and depending on the season, they could either be waving harmlessly over your head or become your very own cushion!

Leo had just come to the sports and gossip column sections, when a nice surprise in the form of his good friend Javier showed up. He wasn’t clearly, not the only one who liked sitting under this particular beech tree overlooking the lake. Looking up from his newspaper he beamed "Good morning, Javy!" Glancing down momentarily at the newspaper he shrugged "I have only skimmed through most of it but I wish there were more sunshine stories than bad stuff."
Scooting to the right to make room for Javy to sit down next to him Leo said "Of course not. Have you had breakfast or do you want to share with me? I got enough for two." Since the house elves had been quite generous.
Excellent, he did more than oblige by sitting down by him. "Mm, that's too bad." Javier commented about the news. "I might have something to cheer you up though." Digging in one of his pockets for his wallet where he kept other things than loose change. Eventually he withdrew out a photo, "Here he is.. seven months along. Piers just owled this." Sharing yet another sonogram to godfather Leo. Words couldn't express the feelings he felt looking over at it.
As to regards on whether he ate, "I haven't actually. This will save me the extra trip though, thank you." Smiling, "So how have you been lately Leo?" Sure they chatted frequently, but it was difficult sharing a lot across the table during feasts and in between classes.

While climbing he had not heard someone come up to the tree. He did however hear something on the water but figured that it was just the giant squid. Hanging the pack on a near by branch he pulled out one of his most prized possessions, a panpipe.
As a kid his aunt, uncle, and dad would always read to Emma and him every night. Truth was if he asked his dad to do it when they got home he would. Emma always wanted girly stories, while Noah leaned more toward adventure, and his favorite was Peter Pan. He didn't know why but he always loved that story and must have read the book over twenty times. For his seventh birthday he wanted a panpipe just like Peters. So Noah's dad helped him build one, it went horribly and in the end his dad just baught one. After that Noah started teaching himself how to play it.
Putting the panpipe to his lips he closed his eyes and started to play it. The song Flower of Scotland started to fill the air by the lake. Music and read were always his favorite things to do on his down time.*
Daisy was in mid-toss stand when something started making noise. She couldn’t hold onto the stone and it plopped loudly about 5 feet off shore. She looked around wondering if a bird was hurt or something. It sure was making a peculiar noise, kinda sounded the like the keening dragons made when sick. Her mom always warned her to stay away from animals making odd noises.
It took her a moment to realize the sound was coming from above her. The fact that it was from something in a tree confirmed, in Daisy’s 11-year old mind that it had to be a bird. She looked up, shielding her eyes from the sun that was peeking through the leaves. “What the…” she trailed off. Was that a person up there making that banshee inspired noise? No, it was even worse! It was a boy. And not just any boy. It was Noah.
Noah, the boy she had come to think of as the personification of annoying and arrogance all rolld into one. Was he following her now? She totally forgot the fact that when she got to the tree, she was alone on the shore. Instead she was busy wondering what it was with boys and trees. The last time she had been able to make it outside for some sunshine, Damion had wanted to climb a pine tree and Daisy had advised against it, as pine branches were notorious for breaking under foot when climbed.
The noise wouldn’t stop. “Oye!” Daisy yelled fighting the urge to chuck one of her skipping rocks up at Noah. “Are you killing a cat up there?”

*Half way into the second verse Noah heard a sound. Looking down he saw someone on the ground. Before he could answer he lost his balance and started to fall. Reaching out he grabbed his pack that was hanging on a branch. Sadly the branch that held his pack was no where near strong enough to hold him and it snapped making Noah fall like a rock to the hard ground. Half way down during the fall he noticed who had been yelling at him. Daisy, the up tight flower girl. With that thought his leg and side hit the ground hard and a load snapping sound came up from his leg. Right after that Noah tried picking himself up only to feel a sharp pain in his left leg. Then his pack fell and landed on his face sending him back down to the ground.*
"Ow..."
*The ow was a little half hearted but that was because he was not going to scream or cry out in front of someone, most of all a girl. But his face was white as a ghost from the pain. He lay there for a moment in case something else decided to fall and land on him. No need to sit back up to get pushed back down again.*

Ok. In hind sight maybe yelling at someone in a tree wasn’t the greatest idea. Then again, Daisy didn’t make Noah climb the tree. She winced as he tumbled down, unable to move as she watched the spectacle. He hit the ground with a thud and a crack. She rubbed her eyes, watched him sit up, then his backpack whack him in the head. He fell over with a demure “ow.”
She coughed as the dust settled around them then slowly walked over with a bit of trepidation. After all, with their history, she expected Noah to jump up and start yelling at her about yelling at people in trees. Well, Daisy was all ready to yell at him about climbing trees! She walked up to Noah who wasn’t moving. “You dead?” she asked, nudging his shoulder with the toe of her foot. He looked a bit pale, but it’d been a while Daisy had seen him and he did live in the dungeons. She imagined lack of sunlight made most of the Slytherins look a little vampiric. And you couldn't ask much more from someone who considered the fallen figure on the floor an annoying uncouth prat.

*Pushing the pack off of his face he ignored the foot that was pushing his shoulder. Sitting up he tried to stand but felt a sharp pain. Looking down he saw an unpleasant sight. It looked like he had a broken leg. Letting out a long sigh he frowned down at his leg.*
"No Florence Nightingale, I'm not dead. Just a broken leg, thanks to-..."
*He cut himself off as he remembered his pan pipe. Looking around frantically he saw it a few feet away. It was broken into five or six pieces. Now he really went pale as his mouth fell open. Complete shock washed over him.*
"It's... it's broken..."
*He couldn't move to reach it because of his leg. Turning back to his leg he changed his face an tried to forget about his prized possession being broken. Looking down at his leg he said.*
"My legs broken flower girl. Mind grabbing me a branch or something to make a splint so I can get to the hospital wing?"
*Try as he might to hide his pain by not screaming a few tears started to fill his eyes but he didn't notice. His leg was an ugly sight but the broken bits of wood a few feet away hurt him more. Pull yourself together you big baby. Biting his lip he just looked at his leg waiting to see if the girl by him would help.*

Daisy nudged him in the shoulder with her foot again and again until he spoke. Ah, at least his snarkiness didn’t break. “How exactly do you know it’s broken?” she asked when he started whining. “Did you suddenly get a degree in healing?” Then she realized he was looking off at something. Was it a branch? His backpack? Her eyes landed on something scattered around the ground that had looked like it broke.
Noah was calling her names again. “I didn’t know I was dressed for a wedding,” she retorted as she turned away to find something to splint his leg with.
She was gone for a few minutes (the shore was surprisingly void of branches big enough to be of use). When she came back she noticed Noah looked like he was about to cry. A quip lingered on the tip of her tongue, but she remained resolutely quiet. She pulled a (clean) handkerchief out of her pocket. “Alright,” she said squatting down next to him. She handed him the hanky without looking him in the eyes. “This is going to hurt a little.” It wasn’t the first time she’d helped someone with a broken leg. Her brother Leandor had broken his leg two summers ago and she had been the only one around to help him get back home. That had been a fun experience. Leandor was three times bigger than her and they had had to look out for dragons while they hobbled home. Basic first aid was a necessity when living on a Dragon Preserve. Her parents had taught it to her before she was allowed to wander the preserve by herself. She slid the stick under his leg and then grabbed his backpack. “Do you have any emotional attachment to this?” She asked, but didn’t wait for him to answer. She yanked hard on the straps, pulling them off. She slid them under his leg and started tying the make-shift splint in place.

*Looking up confused Noah frowned. Was she questioning him? Lets see, how did he know that his leg was broken? Pointing to a spot on his lower leg where something was poking out at an odd place.*
"Well, seeing as how that spot right there is covered in blood and poking out all funny I'm gonna say yes, it is broken. That and the fact that it hurts really bad."
*Her next comment made him even more confused. Why was she talking about weddings? He's not going to a wedding like this that was for sure.*
"Wedding? Wasn't Nightingale a muggle nurse?"
*But before he could get an answer she was off. Who knew Gryfindors were so unhelpful. Flower girl was acting a lot like some Slytherins he knew. But then she came back and was fixing his leg. Grinding his teeth as she moved his leg into the splint he tried to not cry out. Gardner's were strong, show no weakness. But as his leg was being moved the tears from his eyes fell. It was then that he noticed the straps to his pack were now around his busted leg.*
"Well-... if I did have any- ... emotional whatever to it-... it wont matter now."

Sharing yet another sonogram to godfather Leo. Words couldn't express the feelings he felt looking over at it.

"It's fine. It's just how it is." Closing the newspaper and rolling it up, Leo pushed it down into one of the many inner pockets of his robes. He’d read it in more in depth later during the day if there was a drop in the steady stream of library visitors.
As Javy took a seat on the ground next to him and handed him a photo of his future god son Leo's eyes widened as he exclaimed in happy surprise "He has grown so big. Have you thought of any names yet?" Given that in not a too far future Javy and Piers would be the parents of a baby boy.
Opening the basket, he started to pick out the bread, butter, cheese, fruit and coffee mugs and a coffee thermos, but not before he had put out a blanket to have everything on. Leo didn't want to litter the grounds if he could help it. Showing with a gesture that Javy could help himself to the food Leo said "I've been really good lately. I think it has finally sunken in that Cassie and I are a couple now and not just dating." It was pretty big at least for him that he was someone's boyfriend. It meant a lot.
"And the librarys stream of visitors is increasing with OWL's and Newt's approaching." he commented. Putting some butter and cheese on a piece of toast Leo asked "How have you been? Are your creatures getting along in the pens?" Munching on a bit of his toast Leo poured up some hot coffee into a mug.

”Pffttt…” She waved off his thanks. Unlike some other people she knew Noah When someone fell, Daisy didn’t just run off an leave them stuck to a train wall.
“I thought Nightingales were birds?” she asked as she tightened a strap around his ankle. Perhaps he was going into shock from the pain and it was causing him to go loopy. Daisy was not raised in a muggle-orientated house. For Pete’s sake, her family lived on a dragon reserve. How much more wizardy could you get? She had no clue what Noah was babbling about.
“Mmm…” she said sitting back on her feet to look at his wound. She wans’t sure how badly it was bleeding, but she did know it needed to be stopped. “We don’t really have anything to make a turnakit…” And then she yanked her jumper over her head. Her hair (especially the part ruined from the cauldron cake on the train) stood up from static. She folded the jumper up and then fighting back a sigh (it was her favorite jumper), pressed the jumper into the wound trying to stem the bleeding. She didn’t think to give him a warning about the action though.
“So…” She said looking him in the face for the first time since she’d began working on his leg. All she could think was Noah was kinda an ugly crier. She wouldn’t hold that against him though. “Not really sure…how…to get…” she looked around to see if anyone was there to help. “You to the hospital wing.” Where was another student when you needed them. She looked back at Noah. “If you can hold this over the bleeding, I might be able to carry you on my back.”

"Nightingales are birds-... was also the name of a muggle nurse in England-"

”Nurse?” She asked as she finished making sure the straps wouldn’t move on the splint. She’d have to come back for his backpack after depositing him in the hospital wing. Maybe she could find that girl from the train…what was her name? Ah! Hady! And give it to her. They were in the same house after all. It still amazed Daisy how different house-mates could be. Hady was nice while Noah was…well, Noah, and yet both were Slytherins.
Noah was declining her offer to carry him. What? Did she look like she was chicken thin? Boys! Always thinking a girl couldn’t do things. If she wasn’t so concerned with getting him help, she would have socked him. She was strong enough to carry him piggy back up to the castle…well, she was pretty sure she was. Who knew how much Noah actually weighed. Sometimes size could be deceiving. But she wasn't just going to leave him. “I don’t think you should put any weight on that. It’ll be fine. I had to carry my older brother after his leg broke while he was trying to play with a baby Horntail. I’m stronger than I look.” It occurred to her that Noah might be embarrassed to be carried by a girl. Well, he would just have to deal with it and swallow his snarky Slytherin pride and get some help. She turned in her squat and pulled her hair over her shoulder so he couldn’t tug on it. “Common, hop up. The quicker we get you to the hospital wing, the fast you can get a pain potion.”

*Hop up? She couldn't be serious. What if someone saw them? No that was not going to do at all. Grabbing the near by tree he slowly pulled himself up. Gritting his teeth he felt sharp white hot pains running all along his leg but he was still not gonna play piggy back with Daisy.*

Daisy had been pretty level-headed since she watched Noah fall out of the tree, but this? This was kind of ridiculous. “Fine!” she said standing up. She brushed her hands off on her pants. What was it about Noah that always made Daisy want to punch him in the nose? Oh that’s right, he was a ginormous prat. “Let’s do this the hard way. Shall we?” She watched the color drain out of his face, pulled her hair over her right shoulder then grabbed his arm and hoisted him up.
“On three now,” she was certain he wouldn’t make it three steps, let alone up to the castle. “One…two…three…”

*Taking hold of Daisy's shoulder he gripped her hard and started up the way to the castle. It was slow but they were making their way to the castle. Each step hurt like crazy but with each step he was able to remind himself that was one last step he would have to take.*

Noah was tucked up the hospital wing and feeling mighty fine after his pain potion. Daisy had slipped out since he had been too loopy to realize who he was talking to. He kept thanking her and being nice. It wasn’t what the two of them did and it was unnerving Daisy.
She felt like it was the perfect time to head back to the scene of the crime, so to speak. Noah had left behind quite a few things in their ‘haste’ to get to the healer and Daisy still had a pocket full of rocks to skip. The sun had gone down in the sky a bit and it was chillier. Daisy rubbed her bar arms. She had used her favorite jumper to help try and stop the bleeding from Noah’s leg. When she arrived at the lakeshore, it looked as it had when she left. Noah’s backpack lay ripped and muddy near his butt imprint in the dirt. Man, how hard did he fall to leave a mark like that, Daisy wondered. She grabbed the pack and dumped the rocks from her pocket. It was too cold to stay and she was feeling a little hungry.
And then she remembered the pile of – whatever it was – Noah had almost cried over. Daisy set the pack down and squatted to gather it up.

Ah yes, the names. It was quite a spread that Leo had set up, Javy noted as he happily helped himself to some of the toast and fruit. Casually buttering it up, "Well, we both finally decided on giving him the name 'Curtis', after my great-grandfather. We're still looking into middle names." Without their extended family's help this time, given all they had done for them already.
Javier smiled, hearing how two of his friends seemed to be progressing together. "That's wonderful to hear Leo. You both must be very happy together." Quite naturally to him. Nodding about the students heading to the library more often. "They've been behaving well. I moved most of them from the outdoors into the barn this year and haven't had any trouble." Especially out of his own sight.

The last time Lux had been here, she ended up with a broken nose and injured ribs. Hopefully it would play out a lot better this time though she was still wary about stepping foot under the tree until she knew that the coast was clear.
Cautiously she approached, craning her head upwards to see if there were any students lurking in the branches but it seemed that the coast was clear. Maybe Damien was alone in climbing trees; she sure didn't find the idea appealing though she was also afraid of heights...
Satisfied, she took a seat under the tree and opened her book so that she could get some reading done. Good thing she had brought her thick jacket, because otherwise she'd be cold.

"What is Piers middle name?" Leo wondered as he chewed on his piece of toast. "Will Curtis surname be Fuller or Thompson or a combination?" He had never considered what his children would be called because he had just pushed it into the future since he needed to find the right woman first. Maybe Cassie was his right woman? The woman he could eventually marry and build a family with. It was definitely possible.
Drinking some coffee he beamed "Thank you. We are very happy together. Cassie makes me happy and I enjoy her company. It just feels good being with her." And it was just a plus to their relationship that they in some ways were polar opposites.
"That's good. You're having your creature playmates club this term too right? Where the student's can care for some creatures?" Leo asked curiously as he nibbled at his toast.

Dylan stood in front of the lake, skipping stones across the calm water and watching as they each caused ripples with each bounce they took. He smiled at this. He didn't know why he found it so amusing, skipping stones and all. He then suddenly spotted a familiar red head out of the corner of his eye and he turned to see Lux taking a seat under the large tree. Smiling, he gave his friend a wave before making his way over to her.
"This seat taken?" He joked as he sat down beside her.

Ooh, someone was havingfun skipping stones across the water. Lux thought that they were doing a good job of it, and watched curiously while wondering who it was.
She didn't have to wait for too long, because there was Dylan coming towards her. That was awesome because he was always such good company and so fun to be around. "Hey!" She said, getting more comfortable as he took a seat beside her. "Yes, by you," she added, teasing him as he asked if the seat was taken.

Dylan was so silly sometimes.
Dylan laughed at Lux's response. "Good one," He told her as he leaned back against the tree. The fifth year plucked a blade of grass and wound it between his fingers. "So," He went on, glancing at his friend. "What brings you out here today?" He took a look around them, seeing that not many people were really out today. It was a bit chilly though, so it made sense. It was too bad Dylan hadn't any clean cozy sweaters... he was always wearing them. Sigh.

It was cold. Yessers, indeed. But Adi was dressed for it. Besides, the cold was always enjoyable and he didn't really want to stay indoors today. Anyway, Benny should be there soon enough so he was at least going to have some company.
The Badger fidgeted with the vial of potion from the last Potions lesson. The moment he saw his bestie approaching, he would gulp down the potion. Did people know how badly he would need Benny's approval to turn him into a dragon in the future? Of course Adi could do it without the other boy's permission but this was his bestie they were talking about. Certain stuff needed permission and human transfiguration was one of them.
Norah hummed as she walked across the grounds in search of the most perfectest place to plant her ickle toadstool. She was sure she had named it at some point, but apparently a side-effect of naming everything under the sun was that she forgot all the names. It wasn't fair, okay? She wanted to remember ALLL of them 'cause what if one thing thought it was less important than another because she had remembered one of their names and forgotten the other? That'd be sad sad sad and she didn't want ANYTHING to be sad. Except for spiders. They were allowed to be sad sometimes, but only because they were mean and scary.
The third year spotted the perfect place near that big tree, but she couldn't let it get trampled, DUH. So, Norah walked until she was about ten meters from the lake before getting to her knees and poking the ground. Hello? Why was it so hard? Poke poke. Pooooke. She used her fingernails to scratch off the solid surface, grinning because dirt was FUN as she dug a little hole with her hands. Ta da! And her mum wasn't even here to scold her dirtiness. The thirteen year old took her ickle toadstool from the pot and placed it in the whole, patting soil down around it 'till it was all snug. Heh. Look at how cuuute!

How long moreee until Benny got there?!
Bundled up and good to go. Adi was lucky he didn't complain about meeting him outside in the middle of winter when there were plenty of places inside to hang out. But then there were also plenty of other students around to take up those spaces and only him and Adi to be out by the lake. Okay, maybe not JUST them but not as crowded out here as inside.
And it was the Hufflepuffs fav season so the least he could do was try to enjoy it.
Trudging across the cold ground, Benny soon enough spotted the familiar form of his bestie despite being nearly as bundled up as he was. He supposed it was out of being used to seeing the winter appearance of one Aditya Rehman over the years they had been friends.
"Hey..." he greeted as soon as he was close and his voice wouldn't be lost in any passing breezes.

Did the cold know how heavenly it was? Cue le sigh! He thoroughly enjoyed this weather and he hoped Benny wouldn't be resentful for him asking to meet outside. But Benny could always refuse. Yesh, the dragon could always say what he wanted to when around Adi.
Speaking of Dragons... Adi saw the slightly shorter form of Benny approaching. Show time! Turning away so that his friend wouldn't see his actions, he gulped down the dose- one glass- of the measured out potion. Annnnd just like Culloden had said, the potion was SWEET! Potions like these were awesome. Too bad he couldn't take more. Well he could but why would he want to become arrogant? Heh.
He hoped this would work... Benny was already so reluctant to this brilliant idea. "But why should he be?'' a thought suddenly occurred to the Puffer. "There's a whole load of possibility that he will agree.'' Ohh... the confidence was kicking in!
"Hi, Dragon.'' Adi smiled widely and innocently. Nothing up his sleeve here. Nope. "How's it going? I got something to show you.'' He produced a book purely on dragons from his bundled up self and held it up to Benny so he could see the picture of a Hungarian Horntail on the cover in all of its magnificence. He plopped down on the ground and indicated for Benny to do the same. "I have a feeling you'll LOVE this book.'' Best start this off by focusing on Benny's interest in Dragons for the moment.
