The edge of the lake looks... different. There are things heaped here. Davina, wand tucked behind her ear, turns round the moment she has arrived, to see if the class is following.
"Sit down, sit down," she says. "Your cushions are charmed so that they won't get dirty, though I don't expect you're going to need them for long. Take off your shoes, if you want to. I hope no one - girl or boy - is wearing heels? That can make things difficult."

With her cushion in her hands, and her bag over her shoulder, Destiny made it down to the lake, making sure she did not push ANYONE. Perhaps a few bumps with the cushion, but that was a total accident, and it was only Evelyn, so that didn't count.
At least, she thought it was Evelyn. Mehhh.
Making her way over to an empty clearing, Destiny placed her pillow on the ground, and plopped down on it. Maybe they were going in the water?
Sweeeeet.

Rhea followed behind the professor. She was in her hogwarts uniform, obviously which meant that her shoes did have some heel, though they weren't exactly the dressy type that she preferred, still, walking to the lake had been a bit of a challenge what with the sinking into the grass and the stones and what not but finally they made it. She took off her shoes and held them in her hand then plopped down on the cushion and waited.

Simon was curious to say the least when he and the rest of the class followed the runes professor out to the area around the lake. Stopping as the professor did, he waited for the next instructions, sitting down off to one side. At the mention of taking off their shoes, the Gryffindor raised an eyebrow wondering even more what was in store and his gaze went out onto the water.
Well if we're going in shoes are only a hinderance, Simon thought to himself as he debated his actions. Finally taking off his shoes and socks as he sat on his cushion before awaiting what was to happen.

Jenny quickly followed the professor out to the lake...the lake? Really? This is going to be an interesting class after all...
She quickly sat down on her cushion on the grass, dropped her bag next to it, and took off her shoes like the professor suggested. She couldn't wait to see what would go on next.

Having picked up her cushion thing, and all her belongings, Evelyn stood up and stretched before going into the 'queue'. Pffft. They weren't all first years.
Then again, perhaps this was a good thing.
Annoyed that Destiny kept bumping her, the slytherin finally moved far enough away so she would stop making that contact. It was too bad that they were already at their destination when she did that.

...... heels? Jimmy scoffed slightly and sat down. Or rather, he lounged decisively. And what were they doing down here? He hadn't actually visited the lake yet, so Jimmy was trying to hide his curiosity about that and about the class itself.

Alex glanced at the lake and wondered what they would be doing. This class was already turning out to be interesting after all. She placed down her cushion a little ways away from other people, Evelyn mostly, and sat down ready to listen to the Professor. Take off their shoes? Well.. Alex sighed removing them after a few moments.
Sidney finds a place close to where Professor Markovic is standing. She plops her cushion down and sits. Since she is wearing flat shoes, Sidney sees no need to take her shoes off. From what the professor has said, they won't be using their cushions much. This is going to be the craziest Ancient Runes class I've ever attended. Whoever heard of holding this class outside of the classroom?

Oh yeah like Fletcher was really wearing heels. SNORT. Not. He flopped down on his cushion on his stomach and rested his elbows on the ground and his chin on his fists. Staring up at the professor, he tilted his head to the side for a moment.
She looked kinda young, ya know? Huh.

Right. Davina plopped down on her cushion, and faced the seated students. "This -" She pointed to the lake - "Isn't a lake, it's a river -- and we are going to set up camp, by its side."
Of course they were.
She flicked her wand, to set down a rack full of shoes. "If your sleeves are too long, roll them up. If you think your shoes aren't suited for setting up camp - or you just like that sparkly red pair over there - change them. Please don't go into the water, if you don't know how to swim. Please don't fall over."
"Make groups or work alone, that's up to you. Materials you might need are all here." She glanced towards the things stacked, in the corner. Boxes. Tents. Paint. Lots more. "Pitch your tents, build makeshift sofas, paint the fabric, throw cushions at your friends once in a while. Go do it. Have fun. Just remember to get it all done, before it grows dark."
Yes, this did have something to do with Runes.

Josephina had no idea how she ended by the lake . . . at night. It was foolish, perhaps, but how could she resist on such a lovely Fall evening. In some regards, she felt like she was back in seventh year, just enjoying the breeze as a break from studying. She shivered at those thoughts; NEWTS - she would never want to do those again. Ever.
Her heel sank a little into the soft ground as she approached the edge of the lake and noted a gathering of students. And Professor Markovic? Why on Earth would the woman hold a Runes lesson at night? She knew the blond woman next to her was strange by her calm, observant nature . . . but seriously! She was teaching Runes, not Astronomy! Sigh. She totally needed to make her way BACK to the castle before anyone saw her. Walking in on someone's class, no matter how nontraditional was not her style at all.

Sidney looks at Professor Markovic like she has lost the last of her marbles. Is she serious? Set up tents, build a makesift sofa... I thought we covered Muggle Camping last term in Muggle Studies. Professor Markovic is the professor, and I assume Professor Tate knew what he was doing when he hired her. Of course Tate also hired Professor Duskurk... Sidney gets up and picks her cushion up. She heads over to the tents and chooses one. Best to play along with Professor Markovic. She looks harmless enough, but one never knows.

Simon's eyebrow's raised in surprise when Professor Markovic dropped the final bit of information. They would be camping...which certainly explained when they were outside on the grounds of the school during the evening.
It also explains the directions of comfortable clothes and mention of smores, he mused to himself with a slight chuckle.
The gryffindor fifth year listened intently to the professor's instructions, debating his own next actions as he glanced around at the gathered students. Alright so he didn't spot any friends in the crowd so it looked like he was going to alone in his endevaour unless he met someone knew and opted to work with them.
No matter what the first thing is the thought that setting up would involve work and work was certainly easier in shirt sleeves. So Simon slipped off his outer robes to reveal his school uniform and slipped the robes and hsi shoes in his bag before returning it to his shoulder and moving to scout a location to set up camp.
Neptune Bott had worked VERY hard in her first few weeks at Hogwarts to make sure ALL her shoes had heels on them. Even her standard school ones, like the ones she had on today, had a slight heel.
"Why would you hope a crazy thing like that? Heels are WONDERFUL," she wondered aloud, more to herself than the Professor in particular. They really were. And even more so when one's mother disallows them until you're sixteen.
PFFFFFFF. DUMB. SO dumb.
She sat her pillow down by Jimmy, then sat down daintily on edge. Neptune arranged her skirt first, then her hair. She, of course, was a lady.
Neptune patted his shoulder, then gestured towards their work materials. Obviously they were going to work together. She'd be the boss, he'd do the work. "Tents are good," she commented. GIGGLE. Good for lots of fun things. If Jimmy hurried up and got theirs pitched.... then. Well. Fun could be had.

Some of the students had gotten up. Good. Di used her wand to gather their cushions - one on top of the other - in one place.

Catching an unexpected [though slight] movement a little way off, Di focused her attention off the students that had gathered round, and on to the far edge of the lake - and saw someone who looked rather like a fellow professor she sat next to, at each meal.
"Professor Hadley?"

Di eyed the... girl, a little warily. "Better safe than sorry, Miss..." Yes. Name, kid, name. "Though if you are certain you can pitch a tent in high heels, by all means continue to wear them."
Yes, and I will not be responsible for the consequences.
Alex stood up and shifted through a tent before picking one out while shaking her head shocked. Really? Pitching a tent? Alex being a pureblood had little to no knowledge of how to pitch a tent, but it couldn't be that hard right? She looked at the tent wearily trying to figure out how to put it up. She considered where she had been a good place, nice even and away from people. She was comfortable with what she was wearing and it wasn't getting in her way either, a good thing for her.
Haughtine had never so much as unrolled a sleeping bag on her own. And what in Merlin's beard did this have to do with little stones. Little stones that they were supposed to be studying. She put her bag on her seat (so it wouldn't get dirty, see) and got to searching for a tent. Finding one, she lifted it over her shoulder with visible difficulty and wandered off to the find some place to put it.
Before long the large, heavy tent was slightly dragging, and the child's hair had flopped into her line of vision giving her the look of an English sheepdog coming right for the shoreline of the 'river'.
"There!" She huffed out to no one in particular as she flopped the tent onto the ground. Maybe there was some kind of charm that caused it to self-pitch?? Merlin, could there be??

"Professor Hadley?"
Dumb heels and soft ground made it very difficult to escape from near the lake at any decent speed. Because before she even made it three steps away she heard her name and whizzed around . . . too fast. "Ayeee... yeess, Professor Markovic," she said upon realization of who it was who spoke her name.
"My apologies for interrupting but what are you doing out here?" Fina asked incredulously. Always better to be blunt and say what you needed to say.

Freya followed her professor to the river. Thank Merlin she didn't use her favorite heel she'd definitely ruined it. 'Camp? We're gooing to set a camp. Wow. this is going to be so much fun' she thought happily. She looked around hoping to find one of her friends but she couldn't find one 'I guess I've to o this alone then' she thought. She noticed that her sleeves is too long she rolled it up. She looked around to find a place where she'll built her tent.
Awww he wasn't allowed to wear high heels... "But they look so fashionable on me!" Wait!... He wasn't wearing high heels. Jacob looked down on his athletic Shoes. "...Nevermind" Did he ever wear high heels? ...That would be kinda odd. Oh Well... Not to self: Don't Wear High heels or risk looking like a fool. Oh wait he was already a fool without high heels.
Pitching tents... WHY?! Sure it was fun, but what was the point? No matter... Jacob got up and went to start his tent, which he had no idea how to make. And he took the cushion with him... MY CUSHION!!!!!!

Finding a suitable spot not too close to the shore of the lake...umm river, Simon set down his bag of belongings to claim it before turning to retrieve the supplies he would need for the assigned task. Having the childhood he had had and especially hanging out with an older brother and cousins, the fifth year was used to pitching a tent, magic or else-wise. He wasn't yet sure what type they were being supplied with, but it shouldn't be too hard.
Shifting through the tents, he finally found a blue one that looked promising and moved to walk back to where he was planning on settling. His gaze looking around absently to see how his other classmates were faring as he started to go to work on setting up his tent...manually this time.
Runes! They were like pictures that.. meant stuff. Yeah. Showed how much attention Cam had paid in like the last zillion years at Hogwarts. Oh well - she'd thought it was cool the fact that the class was near the Lake. Scary because Barty lived there but coool. Cool enough that she'd come. Check it out and shizz.

Suprise. Yep. James was more than just a little nerd he was a goodygoody. Cos.. here he was at class. Like every other class.
"Evening," She interuppted, placing her pillow next to his. Might as well. Least he was funny.

Wait.. make a camp!?
Erm..
She glanced at Jimmy.
"We are in Runes.. right?" Maybe she was suffering memory loss and had actually turned up to the Astronomy class. She could've sworn Professor Markovic took Runes.

Curiouser and curiouser. What was Hadley doing here!?!?!
Wow.. strange.
"Evening Professor.." The redhead mumbled curiously. Was this on purpose? Perhaps it was a double lesson. That was kinda cool. Wonder how you could incorporate Arithmancy and Runes.. together.

Alice stood flabbergasted. They had to do what?! Was this professor serious? Alice has never ever done any kind of building in her life. That's why she had elfs, duh. And what's all this nonsense of making sofas. Alice likes Runes, but she never imagined having to get down and dirty, literally. She looked around wondering if the students were going to comply and apparently they were. The hopes of a strike vanished.
Alice sighed. She was a pureblood meaning that she didn't do these kinds of things. People could tell right away by just looking at her well manicured nails. Ah! Her nails, they're going to get ruined. Alice wondered how long it would take to send an owl to her grandparents asking for an elf. Hmm...very intriguing idea, but it wouldn't do.
Finally, resigning to absurd ideas, Alice made her way towards the stacked things in the corner. It would be better if she had someone that actually knew about building a bent...dent...kent...well whatever it's called.
